One click.
One perfect frame.
That's all it takes to capture an eternal moment; although most people let them pass by without acknowledgement.
I don't waste any.
Not a single one.
If I see something of beauty, I want to experience it, feel it and immortalise it.
If I see someone of beauty, I want to taste them, worship them and memorise them.
I don't have a type, if I like you, I like you.
I don't have a preference.
My bisexuality is a gift, not a defect.
It's the freedom to see beyond gender.
One blink.
One touch.
One night.
Life is filled with so many ones.
One chance to get things right.
One life to live as you choose.
One decision that gives you acceptance.
One person to fill the emptiness.
Just one?
Nah, like I said, life is full of ones.
My camera lets me focus on the good times; I develop from life's negatives, and if things don't work out, I just take another shot.
Who needs just one?

USA Today Bestselling Author, ES Carter, lives in Cardiff, South Wales. The home of castles, dragons and folklore.
Her family joke that she was born with a book in her hand, and the urge to write stories soon followed.
At eleven, she won her school's literary prize. At ages fourteen to sixteen - her poetry phase after falling in love with Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings - she had a few poems published, but life, love and family overtook her dreams, and she was in her thirties when she began the scary journey of self-publishing.
Her debut and internationally best-selling series, 'Love by Numbers', are a set of interconnected stand alone romances, all with varying themes of love. From second-chance to romantic comedy and M/M romance. These stories do not need to be read in order, in fact, she is often guilty of advising readers to start at the last book and work their way back through.
Contemporary romance is not the only genre she writes, her second series, 'The Red Order', is as dark and twisted as you can get, but there is beauty there too if you can open your eyes and look.
With many more stories bursting to be set free, she hopes you stay along for the ride.

One is book five in the Love by Numbers series by E.S. Carter. This is my very first book by Ms. Carter. You can definitely read this as a stand alone and it comes to a complete ending.

male photographer

Isaac Fox is a renowned photographer. He is also bi-sexual. He has no preference between men and women. It’s all in how they make him feel. He has never had a relationship. Isaac is perfectly described in the blurb for this book. He has completely accepted who he is.

hot man on a motorcycle

Flynn Phillips is a fitness guru who has made a lucrative career out of his love of fitness. Flynn has something in his past that has deeply affected the man he is today. He has never really dealt with his grief. Flynn has never, not even once, felt the slightest interest or attraction to a man. Until he met Isaac for the first time. He is both confused and angered by how Isaac makes him feel.

“How can one man have such an effect on me?”

Isaac has never forgotten Flynn. He has no idea why he felt such a pull to him. But the words Flynn spoke hurt him to the core. Isaac’s older brother has a project that is completely outside of the norm of Isaac’s work. But much to his surprise, on the first day of the job, Flynn is there. But this seems to be a new Flynn. A Flynn without all the pent up anger. A Flynn that seems ready to explore whatever this is between them.

“He’s everything I’ve never wanted. He makes me need to hate him. He makes me hate to need him.”

two men's hands holding

As both Flynn and Isaac start on the new exciting adventure in their careers, they also start a new adventure in their personal relationship. This is completely new to both of them, for Flynn because he is so shocked at the depth of his feelings for this man, and for Isaac because he has never been interested in anything more than just one night with any person.

“Someone recently told me a change is as good as a rest. I want to see where this goes. I want to rest awhile with you.”

I’ll stop here because you need to experience the rest of Isaac and Flynn’s journey yourself. I am so in love with these two. I seriously swooned all the way through this book. I loved the way that once Flynn decided to give things a chance, he was all in. He didn’t hesitate at all! And I’ll warn you, these two are melt your kindle hot! E.S. Carter’s words were so beautiful. I highlighted like crazy. I had pages of quotes.

two hot men

I feel I should disclose that reading about a straight man fall for another man is a particular favorite of mine, the Gay For You trope. But that’s only one small part of why I loved this so much. It was just these two. I could not put it down. I want to shout from the rooftop my love of these two men! As I said above, this does come to a complete ending. But I am so excited that the author has decided to continue their story in book seven, Two. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Isaac and Flynn. But, the next book in the series is book 6 called Eight. This is Josh, Isaac’s brother’s story. I’m going to read that first, then go right on into Two. My reading schedule is booked up. I hope I’ve convinced you to jump in as well. Isaac and Flynn are waiting for you.

Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone Book 5 of Love by Numbers series
POV: First Person – Dual (Male)
Rating:

Isaac Fox was a world renowned photographer. With his good looks and openly bisexual preference, he had no problem getting any man or woman into his bed. But his busy work schedule and a wounded heart kept him lonely until he was brought face to face with a past he could never forget.

Flynn Phillips was the hottest fitness celebrity to grace TV and magazines. Even with his fame, his dark past still choked him and refused to let go. And it didn't helped when his head tried to fight what his heart wanted.

What first drew me to this book was the cover. I have a thing with photographers - which I'll explain later. Then the blurb sealed the deal. The story is as beautiful and as deep as the two elements suggested.

“We’re like fire and gasoline. He will burn me alive, and I will only fuel the flames.”

To me, Isaac was faultless. I love him for not being afraid and how much he did for the people around him. With his stenght, he had enough vulnerability without being crippled by it.

Day-by-day my “brand’ soars, my business grows, and more and more people want a piece of Flynn Phillips. If only they knew that this perfect body houses a less than perfect man.

Flynn's actions and emotions were very volatile. Even though I wanted to hurt him at times, I do understand where he came from. The anger, fear, confusion and sadness added dimension to someone who could easily be superficial.

I love stories that stirred my emotions and this book did that. I haven't read any other book in the series so I didn't know what to expect in term of the feel, so I was pleasantly surprised by some teary moments. But since I like when characters get (emotionally) hurt, I do wish there was extra conflict towards the end of the book :p

His hand pumps my shaft while his tongue fucks into my mouth to the same rhythm I bounce on his cock. It’s too good.

My wish for a certain sexy scene didn't come true, but I was pacified with other form of sexiness. I certainly like what they did to each others lol!

I want a man. Not any man, this man.

One is a story of forgiveness and acceptance - two simple act of kindness that could change a person's outlook that would lead to a more meaningful life. This book would appeal to readers looking for sexy romance laced with emotions.

Note:
I love photographers because they can see things from a different perspective – especially capturing the beauty of something someone else might see as ugly/unwanted. Once upon a time I wanted to be one. I can still be one, so one day, I might actually be one lol!

"If it's worth the risk, then gamble because happiness can be fucking fleeting and forgiveness can be given and accepted easily without the burden of grudges."

Isaac Fox; living life without any love commitments or attachments was a successful and well known photographer. He knew exactly where he stood when it involved his sexual desires he was open minded and liked both females and males but he prefers the male team. One night of lust became a night he never forgot with the one and only hot stuff fitness model Flynn.

"He's my every wet dream in the flesh. He's also my every nightmare."

description

Flynn Phillips; super smoking gorgeous man who was born to be famous got all his dreams come true when he landed in the fitness modeling industry. Woman would throw themselves at him for his attention and he always complied until that one night he started feeling different things that he didn't want to admit he liked a little too much.

"I can't even begin to understand it. This tangible link we have. It makes no sense; it's stronger than attraction, and it messes with my head because he's a man."

I loved Isaac from the beginning I first met him on one of the previews books from the standalone series. I didn't know much about him but I was dying to know. He was absolutely an incredible person who loved his family so much; he even sacrificed an entire year of his career to help the family out. It was such an emotional part of the book that I don't want to give anything away. He struggled with being understood though and what Flynn did and how he made him feel had me in angry tears. I wanted Flynn to feel his pain and boy did he felt it too?! Heck yeah.

description

This book was about love, family and finding out your own true self. It was such a wonderful read to understand the struggle people go thru to find themselves and within understand that what they feel don't have to be always what people think but what you want. Flynn and Isaac both were tested thru their boundaries to reach the true love they were both searching for. In all honestly this was my very first only m/m read and I have to say I had to fan myself so much it wasn't even funny. I am afraid this would not be my last either. Readers to enjoy a good love story, super steamy hot, and are not afraid of this m/m genre should totally read this book. I found myself unable to put it down and enjoyed every minute of it.

"Love isn't one plus one. It's one plus one plus one times infinity."

Isaac “Iz” Fox is the hottest photographer around and openly bisexual. He always knew his tastes weren’t the norm, but his family always accepted him. Enjoying a bachelor lifestyle means Isaac’s bed isn’t empty often, but when Isaac makes a connection with another man, the reaction he receives is unexpected.

“I haven’t changed who I am, and I haven’t stopped wanting you, but I’m not an experiment.”

Flynn Phillips is a fitness trainer who gained notoriety on social media. Though he is a rising star, Flynn came from humble beginnings and suffered a tremendous loss that continues to affect him. After meeting Isaac, Flynn begins to feel in ways he’s never experienced and it makes him uneasy.

“This man is dangerous to me. He’s everything I’ve never wanted. He makes me need to hate him.”

From the beginning, the chemistry between Isaac and Flynn is undeniable and palpable. Being comfortable with his sexuality, Isaac exudes an easy confidence that Flynn cannot resist. But while they have this pull to each other, Flynn hurts Isaac in ways that speak volumes about Flynn’s insecurities. As time passes, Flynn must accept the past and embrace possibilities in the present, which is vital to his happiness. As he moves forward, Isaac offers a level of intimacy and comfort that Flynn so desperately needs.

“You’re gonna ride me, Flynn Phillips. You’re gonna take what you need exactly how you want it.”

For Isaac, he is a grounded character who is ambitious, loving and willing to confront the difficulties of life. I admired his selfless decision to help his family despite how it could have affected his own life.

Told in dual POV, these characters are richly developed and experience life with its ups and downs. Together, Isaac and Flynn fit and their transition to a couple is ultimately fulfilling. With firsts for both characters, their story felt unique.

In One, E.S. Carter pens a multifaceted story told in a realistic manner that enhances her characters and adds weight to their journey. This MM romance is a story is about self-discovery, acceptance and love. I highly recommend.

*A free copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

I found little to like and much to dislike in this novel.

Let's start with the good. I loved the cover. I'm a sucker for black and white covers and this was was intriguing for the reason that it wasn't your typical ab shot. I also liked the book blurb which promoted an interesting premise along with writing style. That's it. That's all I was able to connect to, or enjoy in this book.

The premise involves a successful bisexual photographer and a closeted, homophobic fitness star and model. They hooked up during a threesome in the past and the model, Flynn, said hurtful homophobic slurs to Isaac the photographer after all was said and done. Round two: same thing happens. Round three: Flynn is all down with the D, Isaac forgives and forgets the nasty words and they live happily ever after.

I had a very difficult time reading this book for several reasons. First and foremost was the writing style and language. This book was one cliche after cliche. One example:

“His stare says ‘game on’, and his body language is confrontational. A wiser man would back down and refuse to acknowledge the aggressive challenge in his eyes. I’ve never been a wise man. All his display has earnt him is the guarantee of being in my bed tonight. My cock throbs in anticipation. No more pussyfooting around, no more backing down. If he thinks he knows the rules to this game, he’s wrong. This is my game, and it will be played by my rules. There is no passing ‘Go’ to collect two hundred pounds, and no ‘Get Out Of Jail Free’ card. As I pick up another shot and bring it to my lips, I watch his eyes lock on the grin spreading across my face. I’ve just rolled double six, and he may not know it yet, but this game is already won.”

Aside from never-ending cliches to get from point a to point b, the pervasive overuse of adjectives makes the prose feel extremely overwritten (think…. “It was a dark and stormy night…” but in a bad romance way).

The dialogue was both overly flowery, and masculine as if the author couldn't quite write from a male POV and kept falling back to traditional MF romance fare, which is ES Carter’s genre aside from this book.

Aside from the poor language, I didn't connect with the characters. Flynn had some dark secret baggage he was fighting, but when it was revealed, I couldn't really see how it was the cause of his sexual denial. Isaac had little depth for me. The secondary characters felt extraneous to the main storyline. I'm not sure why I had to meet them at all.

I'm regretful to be so critical of a book I had high hopes for, and kudos to the author for doing the hard work of writing. Unfortunately, the quality of writing in this novel made it an extremely difficult and off putting read for me. Had I not agreed to write an honest review in exchange for a copy of this book, I would have DNF’ed it at the 12% mark.

‘Love hurts. It gives, and it takes away. It’s brutal with its beauty.’

We absolutely love this series, so were excited to read Isaac’s story – which is book five – as it’s the one we’ve been dying for. Whilst this can be read as a standalone we highly recommend reading this series in its entirety, as it’s fabulous. So much romance, passion, drama and angst. So much emotion and love.

‘His thoughts, his dreams, his wants, and his desires. This man is dangerous to me.’

We weren’t sure where Isaac’s story would go or how he would find his happiness but we were ready to find out. The enigmatic – almost stuck in life’s limbo – Fox brother who’s a renowned genius behind the camera needed to find his happiness, settle down and be loved. He needed to find his place as a man, not the brother or son of….

‘I am lost because he found me.’

Isaac and Flynn’s story is one of finding one-self through the aftermath of tragedy and the overcoming of obstacles as well as healing – with family at the core. It was beautiful, passionate and quite emotional. A true journey of love, reclaiming and understanding. With love comes hope. With injustice comes forgiveness. And with tragedy comes reclamation.

‘Even now my life is divided. There’s before. Then there’s after. The two are entwined yet so far apart that they cannot exist side by side.’

Isaac is at a crossroad. His photography career is soaring yet his personal life is struggling as his heart feels lonely, wanting someone he believes he can never have. Flynn. Isaac’s tired of meaninglessness and day to day. Deep down he wants permanence and forever whilst outwardly rebelling this. Tragedy finds him questioning everything. He intrigued us and stole our hearts from the first time we met him.

‘Life gives and life takes away. It’s brutal, and it’s fucking unfair, and I don’t understand it, but what I do know is that it goes on with or without you.’

Flynn has fought his way to be where he is today, currently working as a health and fitness expert as well as model turned actor. He’s still struggling to come to terms with a family tragedy and the confusion that’s risen from this heartbreak. Sometimes we question who we are and reject parts of ourselves despite the ease with which it makes us feel or what our heart clearly needs. Sometimes we hurt the ones we love. Sometimes we need reassuring that it’s okay to love who our heart desires.

‘Why did I ever fight this? Why did I ever think I could win against the power this man has over me? He owns me.’

Flynn and Isaac do not have the best memory of each other for many reasons, yet is this truly so? Meeting up again brings back pain and confusion yet through personal realisations and healing comes self-assurance and an open heart and mind. Sometimes the best comes to those who wait, and who opens their soul to true love.

‘Acceptance is serenity. It’s happiness, it’s understanding, it’s faith in yourself and others. It’s knowing that you can’t change the past, but you can choose your future. Acceptance is love.’

Beautifully written. At times heartbreaking in it’s honesty.
A story of love, pain, acceptance and life.
The two main characters, Isaac and Flynn, are strong, stubborn, and both carrying secrets that weigh on them. Each of them struggle with their issues in different ways, coping the best way they can, and fighting the inevitable.
The inevitable being them.
One is an amazing read. Emotional, gripping, and hard to put down.
Highly recommend this book. Highly recommend this author. Love her work.

One is the fifth book in the ‘Love by Number series’ by E.S. Carter. Throughout the previous books in the series we’ve met Isaac, one the handsome Fox brothers. It’s no secret Isaac is bisexual; he’s attracted to both men and women, a fact he’s absolutely not ashamed of. One finally tells us his story.
“Heat. Lips. Tongue. Ache. Throb. I am lost because he found me.”

Isaac is a photographer and living the life; traveling, meeting beautiful people and spending time with his beloved family. Isaac has always known he falls for men and women, and he makes no secret of it. His family knows, and they are supportive and unjudgmental. Isaac isn’t looking for love and commitment, but somebody made a bigger impression on him then he cares to admit. When Isaac sees Flynn again, all the feelings and hurt come back.
“I can feel him, and a crushing sense of deja-vu skitters down my spine. I’m frozen, torn between needing to look and wanting to remain oblivious. Don’t ask me how I know; maybe it’s his smell or just his presence, but I know it’s him. Him. Flynn Phillips.”

Flynn is a handsome popular model/fitness personality. He had a happy childhood with his family, until his older brother ended his own life. After that, the happy family was gone, leaving behind three heartbroken people who can’t deal with their grieve. Flynn sees himself as a straight man, and Isaac confuses him on every level. He doesn’t want to feel attracted to the man, but he can’t help himself.
“This is Isaac Fox. Charming, engaging and practically dripping with an aura that makes you want to know him. Makes you want to know all about him. His thoughts, his dreams, his wants, and his desires. This man is dangerous to me. He’s everything I’ve never wanted. He makes me need to hate him. He makes me hate to need him.”

When Isaac and Flynn see each other in One, it’s not the first time. They have been together before, and to say it didn’t end well is an understatement. Isaac was left hurt and confused, Flynn didn’t know what to think either. When the men meet again, they try to be civil, but again all blows up in their faces. When they meet each other for a third time, Flynn finally has come to terms with his sexuality and his attraction towards Isaac, and they have a shot at something lasting and real.

One is more than just the story of Isaac and Flynn, it’s also about accepting your sexuality and stop pretending. I was so angry with Flynn a couple of times; while I can understand his confusion, I despise how he treated Isaac because of it. Isaac is such an open, sweet man, he deserves somebody who isn’t ashamed of loving him. I love how Flynn and Isaac are when they are finally on the same page, I love their chemistry and how they are together.
“Acceptance is serenity. It’s happiness, it’s understanding, it’s faith in yourself and others. It’s knowing that you can’t change the past, but you can choose your future. Acceptance is love.”

Seeing the characters from the previous books was good, to see bits and pieces of their lives, to see them still happily in love. While I was sad for Isaac in the beginning, a secondary story line broke my heart. It felt so real and the reactions of the characters were so realistic, it made me cry. What I also must say; I love how the author gives every story in the ‘Love by Number series’ such a different vibe, it makes me enjoy this series very much.

Although I wanted to strangle one of the heroes a few times, I love how it all worked out. I give the story of Isaac and Flynn 5 stars.

Slayed, ruined 10 millions stars

E.S. Carter has once again made my soul weep. I knew she would wreck me with this story. The emotions, the characters’ flaws, every devastating words slayed me viscerally.

One is the story that will smash every perception you have about love. Love isn’t a person, it’s a soul, its two hearts beating as one. And One reiterates that point until it’s crystal clear in our hearts and minds.

From the first page until the last, I have felt every blow, every fear, every pain, every devastating words, every euphoria, every triumph, every loss, every hope and every swoon. E.S. Carter has truly created a masterpiece of words that shakes you to your core, makes you stand up and think about love, your perception of it. I’ve fallen even more in love with Iz and I have hated Flynn with a passion. I’ve felt the debilitating pain course through me when Iz felt those words strike him raw. I felt the utter helplessness that overcame him at the news from his family. I felt the calm sooth my soul at these words ‘Acceptance is Serenity.’ I just felt.

Every aspect of One had my emotions running rampant. Iz and Flynn both had depths and complexities hidden in their psyche, that we discovered as the story unfolded. Two irresistible men, one devastatingly enchanted love story.

One is Acceptance!

One is Love!

One for me is Hope!

“We’re like fire and gasoline. He will burn me alive, and I will only fuel the flames.”

For someone who spends a lot of time (passionately) telling people what books they should read and why, I'm surprisingly stubborn when it comes to accepting book recommendations. It's not that I don't trust my friends to know what I'll love, it's that I don't want to disappoint them if I don't feel about it the same way they do.

I read One based on a recommendation.
I read One because I was told I would love it.
I read One because someone gifted me the book.

I finished One because it was a soulful, heartbreaking story that moved me to tears.

Full disclosure: I struggled with the first handful of chapters here. I found it to be a little abrasive, and I couldn't relate—or warm to—the hero/es of this story. In particular, possibly surprisingly, I didn’t much like Isaac.

To be sure, he was a sexy character, and an intriguing one, but it took me some time to get into his mind, and to see what kind of person he was. But when I did? It was wonderful. It was just what I needed, and it softened my heart to him at the same time it brought tears to my eyes.

Flynn, on the other hand, I understood. Not wholly, but ES Carter—a new-to-me author—deftly handled his actions, such that while I didn't like him at first, I didn’t hate either. I forgave him, because I felt like that wasn't all he was.

The end result was a book that, for me, really took off after those first few chapters. I *liked* it up to that point; I LOVED thereafter. I fell for both Isaac and Flynn. I smiled at their banter, I mourned their pain, and my heart pounded in the hopes that all would be well.

And it was. For me, all wasn't just well, it was wonderful. It was engaging. It was hot. It was sweet. It broke my heart, then made me feel good. It wasn't perfect, but it was something else.

One was a recommendation I'm thrilled I took. A story I loved. A gift that made me happy.

A book that I am now recommending.

One. That’s what we now are. Two bodies, two hearts, two souls wrapped together so tightly that where he ends, I begin.

Occasionally a question of "what is your favorite recommendation for new M/M readers?" is made and my go-to is Crossroads by Riley Hart. Now, there is a battle because One now shares space. When a book is brilliant and so well written that you end up re-reading it while searching for quotes for your review, you realize that such a book has gripped your heart and soul. This novel is it.

It's more than a love story. It's a story of loss and hope, anger and forgiveness, condemnation and redemption. Ms Carter weaves a beautiful romance that gives the reader a full immersive experience of every emotion. There are points which you yell and cry in both happiness and sadness. And it's just not one character but both main characters that pull you through that journey.

I see beauty. They see distrust. Labels are for fucking jars, not people.

I could give you detail to the plot, but why waste your time with that. Instead I'll tell you to just READ this book. Whether it's your first same-sex romance or a beloved genre, you can read this novel as a standalone from the rest of the series. However, once you find the love of ES Carter's words, I dare you not to go back and read the rest. Some readers may pause as this is written in British English but don't allow that to dissuade you. If you can read Katy Regnery's Rousseaus series with intermingling of French or Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series with southern slang, you can put up with the original version of my native tongue.

I truly hope you'll give this story your time. You won't be disappointment. I've invested it five times over already. I'm sure I'll be re-reading it soon. 5+ out of 5 stars

This one was a good read, packed with a lot of emotions.

We finaly get to know better the mysterious Isaac Fox and his fleeting lover.
Their relationship is not an easy one, after a stormy beginning they have the courage to believe into a brighter future for themselves.

I was also glad to read more about my favorite Fox brother...Jake <3

I really hope everyone will accept and enjoy Iz story as much as I did.

E.S. Carter writing is addicting and I already need her next book in the series.I really wish to never say goodbye to these amazing characters.

I love love this book!! I flove this series, and I cannot wait to see if there is more coming... So I'll be anxiously awaiting with hands shaking

I've never read a book with a plot like this.. Ever... but it was magical and beautiful and so Isaac that I just couldn't get enough. Time is captured a few times in this book, and made it very easy to allow the plot to flow so effortlessly. Flynn was an anomaly that came full force in the eyes of Isaac, but no one knew the ramifications of falling in love with someone you weren't ready for. Flynn wasn't ready for most of the book... And he had his reasons, but those are his to share and not mine. No spoilers from me!!!

There are so many things that happen in this book with the Fox family that changed the premise of some of the things that occur with this plot, but this family sticks together, and Isaac is there through it all. His reasons are twofold; to be there for his brother, and to be there for himself. So many cruel things get said to those who are different than the"norm", but Isaac lives for his beliefs and understands his goals. Not many would continue to be accepting of the world when they don't agree with your own beliefs... which makes it harder for Isaac to truly trust Flynn in the beginning.

ACCEPTANCE IS SERENITY

This statement means more in this book than any other situation I've read about in a plot. I adored these characters, and I loved seeing some of the brothers together again, no matter what the reasons were. This book was perfect. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy of this book.

5 Cherry-Poppin Stars!!!

This is the fifth book in the Love by Numbers series and it's because of that, I found myself reading an M/M story FOR THE THE FIRST TIME!!! That's right. E.S. Carter has popped my M/M cherry!

When it came to Isaac's story, I was a little apprehensive. Not having read any M/M before (but meaning to), I wasn't sure if it would be my cup of tea. I wanted to take a chance on this book because I am so invested in this series and the Fox family. I couldn't possibly miss any part of their puzzle. I'm so glad I did. Issac and Flynn's story is beautifully written. I couldn't have wished for a more gentle introduction into this genre. It had all the ingredients I love. A little angst, a touch of sauce and some seriously hot love scenes. I also love the progression of these two characters. They both grow and mature so much over the course of the story and not just within their relationship, but also with the people that surround them. There are also many lessons to be learned from within these pages and some messages of hope through the author's words. Having been through the same thing as Flynn, it really got to me at times. It felt very personal and touched my heart.

On a different note, we also catch up a little with Josh and this book sets up the scene nicely for book 6 (I'm guessing and hoping here!).

Going forward, I would highly recommend this book, not just to lovers of this series or this genre but also to those who maybe haven't dipped their toes in the water of M/M. It's gentle; it's sensitive, and above all else, it's love no matter which way you slice it.

Before I even start I need to thank Karen for pushing me to read this book, I had tried a book by this author prior and didn’t love it. Karen said I could try again and man and I glad I did as I loved One; Isaac and Flynn pulled me in from the opening scene and kept me glued to my kindle as I was so engrossed on their story!

The range of emotions this author elicits is masterful; I went from hating Flynn (and you will to for a bit) to having my heart break for him.

The sensitive topics addressed in this book were done so well! Flynn’s background was slowing revealed, slowing endearing him to the reader who likely hates him.

Isaac is such a lovable character, a man comfortable in his own skin who adoring his family! Witnessing Isaac with his brother Josh and Josh’s daughter Ivy so set the stage for a man with a big heart who just need the right person to let in.
I am NOT going to share why Josh plays a role in this book but I will say I am so excited to learn that Josh, is getting a happy in Eight. I also love the use of Josh to push Isaac when the time comes.

Yes, this book has a few hot scenes but they are filled with so much emotion, it is so clear the sex is about a connection as connection it takes both sometime to fully accept.

This story is laced with emotions, filled with an honest look at grief and a tale of the power of love once you open your heart to the fact it may come to you in a form you didn’t expect.

In the end the happy Isaac and Flynn found warmed my heart.

Please note I read this story stand alone.

One by E.S. Carter

One, by E.S. Carter, is one of those rare treasures you find that breaks all the barriers you've ever formed in your mind about the meaning of love, and the depths true unadulterated love can take you.

Carter immerses you into every word, every emotion, every feel, every heartache, and every triumph this story has to offer. And offer it does.

I've never read a book where I was so wrapped up in the emotions, and the flaws, and the strengths of each of these characters, that I've had such a visceral reaction.

You see, these characters literally bound off the pages and draw you into their world.

Isaac Fox is the charismatic and demanding photographer.

Flynn Phillips is the tortured and yet stunning male model.

Both of these characters have so much depth and hidden passions, that you will be forever spellbound and captivated by the story that unfolds.

No one can walk away from this book without feeling it in their soul.

Carter has truly created a masterpiece, that I will read again and again.

I have been Isaac'd. It's the Isaac Effect.

It takes an amazing book to stay with you like One does, and Eli nails it. I've loved everything she has written, but this blows it all out of the water.
This is my first rodeo with m/m and it has set the bar very high for me.
Eli has written this book in her usual style, she drags you in from the off and makes you want to give up sleep. She deals with sensitive subjects in such a way that you feel you are living it, it's so real. And you know people deal with these issues every day, somewhere. Which makes it so much better to read and harder to take.
Isaac. He feels with everything he is, from his soul. Love is love. Simple.
The words Eli uses slayed me, it's heart wrenching and soul deep. Starting certain chapters, my heart was in my throat and I knew I was done for. Get the tissues ready!
"Love hurts. It gives and it takes away. It's brutal with its beauty".

As usual, Eli injects humour and light heartedness into her story, and for me it gives it the balance needed.
This is a story of love, acceptance, loss. Eli covers all bases perfectly.
Acceptance is Serenity.

If your budget allows you one book this week, make it One.

It was fabulous to see the Fox family back in business, I have missed this family ever since Jake sailed into our lives they've never been the same, so it was great to hear from the gang,

Bring at One with yourself seems like an easy thing, right ?

Being at One with who you are or what you do in your career, or some of the decisions we make in life should be a natural process A B C.. yes ?

Decisions,
Yes or no
Live or die
Boy or girl
Friend it foe
Family or not,

For some people these are some of the hardest choices they'll make in life and for others the choice is taken away from them & unfortunately sometimes you can't take that back.

Issac & Flynn's stories are so different but also they are also of
powerful, heartbreaking,
Loving, honest, truthful.

Their connection was off the charts that I couldn't keep up the lust even from a look was wow !!!!! And also VERY VERY HOT

One is a work of art, it is poetry in motion, and is without a doubt one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read.

Every situation the author put us through in this story is meaningful, every word will take you into a high you won't be able to come down from, even after you've stopped reading. Deeply crafted characters will have you enthralled with their expressions of vulnerability and strength.

This is a story of forgiveness, of love, but most of all, acceptance. Acceptance of the paths that life put us through, acceptance of who we are, acceptance that no matter our faults and past mistakes we deserve to love and be loved.

The journey I lived through these characters will forever occupy a place in my heart. One is a profound tale you will need to read and experience, perhaps more than once.

I love British authors! I love U.K. English euphemisms and slang words, and this book has plenty of them. I’m one of those strange readers that can hear the dialogue in my head, as I’m reading, and usually the H’s voice is Hugh Grant (‘cause, duh! Hugh Grant!) and the h is someone who sounds just like Keira Knightley. I have quite a few favorite Brit authors and I can say that Ms. Carter has moved to the top of the list. One can be read as a standalone. It really should be read as book five, in a series of books, all containing numbers in the titles. With the execption of Thirteen, they all feature the Fox brothers. Isaac is the youngest one, and this is his story.

“Acceptance is Serenity”

Isaac is a young, handsome photographer who’s very in demand. He’s also very sure of his sexuality, and has no problem hooking up with either men or women, sometimes with both at the same time; he just accepts who he is. Iz, as he’s affectionately called, doesn’t do relationships.

Gay men think I want to hide behind my attraction to women like I’m in some kind of fictional closet. Straight men believe that it’s a load of bollocks and that being bi is a more aceptable version of being gay. And then we have women; well, they are intrigued mostly, but that wears off when they decide I’m an unworthy partner because not only may I stray with another woman, but I may also leave them for another man.

On a photo shoot for a sexy ad, he’s using both a female and a male model. To his surprise, Flynn Phillips shows up as his male model. Flynn’s known to his million Instagram followers as a health and fitness guru, very much in demand. And Isaac knows him, intimately. A year ago, they hooked up one night with a female model, and Isaac felt like the odd man in the trio. Very unwelcomed and not reciprocated, at all. Isaac hadn’t seen Flynn since that very memorable night. Now, back to the shoot. Flynn and Celine (the other model) invite Iz to join them at a bar. Things progress and they go back to Celine’s apartment, where again, Flynn makes it clear to Iz, despite the obvious attraction, that he’s not interested in him at all. Liar, liar.

Flynn has his reasons to not accept any attraction he might feel for Iz. He’s gone through the tragic loss of a family member, years ago, and it affected him very profoundly. He decides he needs to do something about it. He’s not attracted to men, he’s attracted to Iz. Again, time passes before these two see each other again. In that time, Isaac has had to put his life and career on hold, for personal family reasons. He too has had a tragic loss, and it only confirms his belief that relationships are not for him. These two are thrown together, almost a year later, as if by fate. So much has happened to both of them in the year apart, painful realizations and acceptance. This time, they can’t deny their explosive chemisty. They couldn’t, even if they wanted to.

“I need to remember everything about the first time we’re together. Every lick, Every touch, Every moan, Every thrust.”

I loved One! If, for some reason, you’re offended by M/M stories, please don’t read it. Because, the sex is off the charts hot and it would be unfair for someone who is not a fan to read it and leave a bad review, because it offened your delicate sensibilities. However, if you’re a fan (like me!!!) this book will have you highlighting pages, to go back and re-read. Isaac and Flynn have some very angsty moments. I love when I experience stomach-clenching, chest-tightening, moments in a book, over the characters and what they’re going through. This book does not disappoint. I’ve loved the previous books and I think that One might be my favorite. Yep, pretty sure!

Love By Numbers # 5
ES Carter
4 Stars

I was lucky enough to win this arc in a competition , and as a reader who has never read anything from Eli Carter I was not sure what to expect, but with the hype I certainly loomed forward to it. So jumping in head 1st I was enthralled from the 1st page and wanted to keep reading.

I’ve never read a story like this, so I was intrigued but as the story continued I found all new emotions towards each main character and their underlying issues. Isaac Fox, is a world class photographer, he owns his own business, and is openly bisexual. Equal opportunity lover he calls himself, but secretly it is one person who forever haunts his dreams every. Single. Day.

Flynn Phillips is male model, stunning, smart and struggling with emotional scars that won’t go away. For him in the closet is where he must stay, but a night with a certain man has plagued his own dreams. His own company dictated by a male world means his string of women are really just for show.

Discovering they will be working together on a very high strung sexual photo shoot, Flynn realises that Isaac is something he wants to reacquaint himself with. Isaac is carefully curious about God’s gift but yet again Flynn and his closet fear brings out the nasty side, one I truly despised. He was more than cruel, he was hateful and one of those gay bashes, the same ones that took his brother’s life.

These two men will venture through a life of many paths, many emotions and decisions only themselves can make. For a third time they will be thrust back together, Isaac cannot believe his eyes when they are set on Flynn for that 1st time. For Flynn, that 12 months apart were torture but on 1st glance his decision is made. He will have to fight for Isaac again, but can he win him or continue to hide away. Coming out will be huge for him personally, his career and his company. Male dominance is not always a good thing, and Isaac and Flynn are going to tackle it head on..... Together.

3.75 stars!!

If I thought I was lost before, then it was nothing compared to the way he makes me feel at this moment with his mouth claiming mine.

One had a great concept and it started out really strong in my opinion. But that wasn't the case after the second half and I have to say, I was a bit let down. I just really feel like I would have liked it more had I connected to the characters because that really sucked and had the story been a bit longer, I'm pretty sure this could have been 5 stars!

This story is all about finding and accepting yourself, being happy, weather you're straight, gay, or bi. And it sucks- I hate it - that we have to put labels on anything; it divides people and that's truly sad.

Flynn and Isaac have met once before when this story starts, and the same thing happens again they meet for the second time and I wanted to punch Flynn for what he does. Like honestly, I get where he comes from but what he did was terrible.

But when they a meet the third time couple months after that, things have changed and I liked that they gave each other a chance and Isaac isn't pulling any punches. Both their pasts have been hard but they made it work and got through the times.

Hello territorial, my name is Flynn. I should just piss in a circle around him and stake my claim.

I would read more books by E.S after this, even though it wasn't a hit.

This author is now a one-click author for me! I don't even have to read the blurb, she writes it and I'll read it. This author draws out all the emotions from me. I laughed, I giggled, I blushed, I cried (Even at the birthday cake with the anchors around the border). You name it and she makes me feel it.

"Acceptance is Serenity. It's happiness, it's understanding, it's faith in yourself and others. It's knowing that you can't change the past, but you can choose your future. Acceptance is love."

That quote says so much! *sigh*

How many times do you do the same thing and get burnt before you walk away for good?
Would you be willing to give them multiple chances? What if there was just something about them that you just can't say no to, no matter how much you know you're going to get hurt in the process? Do you keep hoping that the outcome is going to be different? How far are you willing to go to make them see what is right in front of them?

"We're like fire and gasoline. He will burn me alive, and I will only fuel the flames."

Oh btw, loved the name of the movie ;) You'll have to read it to find out what I mean.

Love and loss are probably the strongest of human emotions. Love can take a person to the highest of highs or the ultimate lows. Loss of a loved one can be so devastating that it can affect someone for the rest of their life. One brings both of these powerful emotions into a beautifully written emotional story of Isaac and Flynn. E.S. Carter's Love by Numbers series epitomizes love, One shares with readers an epic love, an all consuming, powerful, first love! One deals with acceptance and finding salvation. This Fox's story is also super hot and steamy, M/F/M & M/M action that will melt your panties! E.S. Carter continues to amaze me with each and every story she writes!

I was fortunate to have been selected to recieved an ARC of One.

Although I adored all the books previously published by ES Carter, I was a bit skeptical about her skills at writing MM romance. And boy, was I wrong! Not only did she give Isaac one of the best books in the series, but her writing has become even better than it had been before *if that's even possible* and she's fast becoming one of my all-time favorite romance authors.

"He's everything I've never wanted. He makes me need to hate him. He makes me hate to need him."

One is book 5 in ES Carter's Love by Numbers series, one that I loved from the get go. It follows Isaac, Jake's brother and one of the most enigmatic secondary characters from the previous books.
Isaac is a world renowned photographer, in love with his work and the place he feels most comfortable in is his studio. All throughout the series he has been such a secretive individual and always kept himself hidden behind his happy facade, apart from the few times when we got to see his true nature shine through.

His love story isn't for everyone. It isn't sweet right from the beginning. It's filled with angst and self hate, it's testing the readers' patience, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It kept me intrigued and involved, and it had me gasping each time our leading man would have an interaction with his love interest.

"Love; it's precious, it's life. Never take it for granted."

The reason for Isaac self imposed 'whoreness' has a name, and that's Flynn Phillips. He's a famous fitness model, turned actor, who loves his job and everything that comes with it. Yet he's not happy. For Isaac, he represents the unattainable, the elusive one, the 'maybe-love'' that got away. Similar to our hero, Flynn is fighting his own demons. Destroyed by a tragedy from his past, he can't seem to come to terms with the attraction he feels towards Isaac; he hates to want him and wants to hate him.

"Why did I ever fight this? Why did I ever think I could win against the power this man has over me? He owns me."

Their story is full of up and downs. Although it has a rocky start, when thrown together by chance, they decide to give this attraction between them a go and see where it leads them. I loved the fact that the author gave it a slow build up, she let Flynn redeem himself for his previous atrocious actions and careless words towards Isaac. She made me slowly fall in love with a flawed character who worked his way into my heart one sweet word at the time.

All in all, One is an incredible redemption story, filled with romance, with two wonderfully broken leads who end up gaining your love with the help of their sweet words and even sweeter actions. ES Carter outdid herself with this one and she set up the following book in the series perfectly.

Eight will be the death of me . . . that's for sure.

One is a beautifully written novel about the enormity that grief, acceptance and love can affect an individual. The first encounter between Flynn and Isaac, did not go as planned. In fact, despite the visible tension, Flynn chose to sever any possible future between the two. Flynn’s loss of control (derived from his grief) compelled him to lash out when he is confronted with strange and new feelings. Isaac became the target of the brutal verbal lashings that left a lasting impression. He wanted him, but he was not going to risk it. If he could help it.

It's a story that will pull at your heart strings, as the various obstacles face are shown throughout the text. Grief is one that is heavily felt by both protagonists. The reader is left bereft with intense sympathy for the loss that Flynn and Isaac encounter in their lives.

"Have you ever watched someone you love completely shatter before your eyes? Have you ever felt the sharp pain of impotence because you cannot do anything, say anything or be anything that they need to get through an event that has wiped out their reason for living?"

Yet, whilst the grief is potent, One also delves into a slow lesson of self-discovery. That once a person hits a wall, it’s time to begin a new path. Acceptance can’t be rushed, but it can be nourished. Once Flynn accepts the death of a family member, he begins to heal and recognise the hurt from his past cannot dictate his future. In fact, it can help him move on. When he discovers that he and Isaac will be working together, he asks forgiveness from him.

“He’s still staring at me like I have three heads and man boobs.”
“I, uh .. what are you doing here?”

One is a journey of beauty. The relationship between Isaac and Flynn is challenging yet, intense. It is also very, very sexy. E.S Carter sends a strong message of the power of acceptance and forgiveness. The humour is quirky and light, yet the message to love yourself is evident. Her novels are always brilliant and One was exceptional.
“It’s worth the risk, then gamble because happiness can be f…g fleeting and forgiveness can be given and accepted easily without the burden of grudges.”

One is book five in the Love by Numbers series. One can be read as a stand alone. Yes, there are some characters from the earlier books in this one but the author does a great job with her writing that you can fully understand what history you need to know.
As with each book in the series, the number in the title plays a major part in the story. The author really has you thinking about how important one really is. Isaac Fox is a photographer so he knows how one click, one perfect frame can capture that eternal moment. He doesn’t want to waste any of them. To him he sees his bisexuality as a gift. When he sees something, or someone of beauty, he wants to experience it, feel it and immortalize it, taste it worship it and memorize it.
Isaac's bisexuality is his freedom to see beyond gender. He sees how life is filled with so many ones, from one chance to get things right, one life to live, one person to fill the emptiness but does he need just one? Can he stop the need to embrace life to its fullest to find the one?
This story is told in dual points of views from Isaac’s to Flynn Phillips. Flynn is a model who also has his own fitness business. Both Isaac and Flynn have some things from their past that they struggle with. While this is a book is Isaac’s story there is so much about Flynn in it. Flynn's life is shaped by his past and learning to deal with his loss and the emotions surround that. Can you read this book without feeling the emotions these characters are feeling? No way.
This book has some surprises that are not expected and they will leave you in tears. Isaac and Flynn are total opposite people and the volatile and hurtful things that occur between them is raw emotions. You feel the anger, fear, even the sadness and confusion. This is an emotional book that will surprise you from beginning to end. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
