THE "LIFE AFTER LOVE" SERIES: BOOK ONE Nineteen year old medical student Claire Prior finds her heart torn by her affair with billionaire Sam Burgess. Sam, meanwhile, struggles with his own emotions as he watches his terminally ill wife slip slowly away. Can their love survive beyond the deceit that it was born out of? Or will they succumb to the barriers standing between them?
At the same, on the other side of the world, Jules Lee travels to a small Colombian village hoping to be reunited with the love he hasn’t seen for fifteen years, Juliette. However, dark shadows from their past threaten to ruin everything before Jules has even had a chance to be with her.
These two seemingly unconnected tales of love and the things we must endure to survive it, begin the foundations for a story that will span over a decade and entwine the fates of each of the characters as they experience life after love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, rich in detail without bogging down the mind of the reader. With settings between multiple countries, the author did an astounding job with bringing the settings and sensory detail to life.
Even more enjoyable for me was that the book, though depicting a forbidden romance two characters struggled to overcome, was a clean read. I didn't have to flip pages to bypass sexual content I had no interest in reading.
The characters weigh so heavily upon my mind that I bought the second book. I look forward to seeing whether that book holds my attention as deeply as the first book of the series. If it does, I know I'll be back to read the remaining book/s in the series.
Great, Claire Prior is a medical student who meets Sam Burgess. He is a millionaire and his wife is terminal. Sam and Claire have demons to get rid of. He spends a lot of time there with his wife,Marya, and his daughter Jess. He finds his attraction to Claire grows, actually for both of them.
Also, Jules Lee is traveling looking for his love from years ago, Juliette and him have demons too. They have to straighten out.
Both couples are in love, but Sam and Claire are separated. Whereas Jules and Juliette are working out their problems. Claire has help from her sis, with a big decision. this is a cliffhanger, which I'm not fond of.
I liked all the characters in the book.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Although my mind(lol) isnot sure if this was an ARC or one I bought. Either way its still the same.
OH MY Heart bleeds for this couple. I can't believe life can really be so hard. Nancy Adams, your way of displaying emotion and tragedy through word and imagination is a rare talent. Thank you for sharing your God given talent with the world. Being a part of this story is so heart breaking. Your characters always have such realism. It's never an easy happily ever after and you make one feel like all the trauma of real life is felt in the pages of your book. I love that you make one feel that there is always hope no matter how deep in despair we may feel. We may not all be billionaires but your characters have real heart and soul. I really enjoyed this story even though at times I cried along with the characters and felt their pain.
Before Loss is written in third person. Normally, I wouldn't mind reading a book written in the third person, but when when you read scenes that should be moving or emotional and feel nothing, it's a bit disappointing.
There are two stories in the book, and the book was divided into 3 parts. It's annoying and enticing at the same time. Annoying because it leaves you hanging for a while, while you read about another couple. Enticing because it adds to your anticipation.
All in all, it was an okay read. It wasn't a "wow, I really love this book" but neither was it a "this book is awful".
Major cliffhangers. This is not a stand alone book. Love the characters, but haven't figured out their connection to each other yet. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
