As the new Alpha to the pack, Jude Wilder is determined to take things in a new direction. Improving human relations seems to be the perfect start. But when he opts to hire a human chef to cater a traditional pack gathering he gets more than he bargained for. While some in the pack might not be happy with the decision, his wolf most certainly is.
Sophia Davis wants nothing to do with shifters. In her eyes, they only cause trouble and create chaos wherever they go. However, when her brother reaches out for help in clearing his debt with a local group of shady coyotes Sophia’s given an ultimatum that forces her to set her aversions aside.
As old misconceptions fade away and a new light is ignited from within the two find something in one another they never thought possible, but the stakes are high and more is at risk than the possibility of a broken heart when all is said and done.
This is a STANDALONE shifter romance with an HEA and NO CLIFFHANGER!
Hailey Storm loves writing hot shifter romances filled with dreamy alpha males and fiery heroines. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two kiddos. When she's not thinking up new story ideas, Hailey can likely be found snuggled into the side of her own alpha male while sipping on a glass of red wine or watching the sunset.
I love a good shifter story and I have say I loved this one! It’s got a great storyline that draws you in and characters who have fantastic chemistry. It is an intriguing read as you see the dynamics between packs and how differently each behave and act, it’s got a little action, some heartache and angst, family drama and a little steam and spice and I really enjoyed getting to know Jude and Sophia!
Jude is the new alpha of his pack, and he wants to do things very differently to the previous alpha. Of course there is opposition as there always is with changes. Sophia has a twin brother called Stephen who is always in trouble with gambling and drugs. He is in so much trouble now that he uses Sophia to get himself out of it. A coyota shifter called Mitch wants his money back. He wants Jude killed. To save her brother's life, Sophia agrees to administer poison to Jude. Except when they actually meet the sparks fly. They are so drawn to each other. Can Sophia do it to save Stephen's life? Will Jude save the day? Such a great story.
Jude by Jennifer Snyder a sublime five-star read. This is number one in the Wood Haven shifter series and all I can say is bring on number two. This is spicier than we are used to but has that same shifter charm. Sophie doesn’t feel the same as I do about shifters, but will she get there in the end? I simply adored Sophie and her passion for family, she has lost so much, but she fights for what she believes in. I am so excited to find out what will happen next.
Took me a minute to find this on here since I was looking under Jennifer Snyder. Lol. This was definitely different from the other books Jennifer has written, but I loved it all the same. Looking forward to what comes next!
Jude & Sophia are my new fav couple from the talented Jennifer Snyder. This is a great read. I cannot wait to read the next in this new series. Recommend to all
This is a story of a few types of love. A sisters love for her brother, that she tries to make it tough love to help him. Only he's gotten himself in so deep that only a death will satisfy the Coyote shifter he's in debt to. The Coyote shifter wants the sister Sophia to kill the new wolf Alpha. New Alpha, Jude wants to have a pack gathering catered by a human, Sophia. When she brings him some food to sample, sparks fly. Which just makes Sophia's choices in life more difficult. Well written and entertaining story to read.
Jude is the new alpha of a wolf pack. Sophia has been steadily bailing her twin brother out of trouble and vowed never to do it again. Now the leader of a coyote pack has threatened to kill Steven if Sophia doesn't kill Jude at a pack gathering for his pregnant sister. Loved this book and the turmoil.
Sophia’s cellphone rang yet again, her brother calling nonstop for the past 3 days! She had already told him she was through enabling his bad lifestyle. He had taken all the money she had and he needed to dig himself out of whatever mess he was in this time. But he texted her using a childhood nickname. She felt he was really in trouble this time.
She met her brother in town and a coyote shifter showed up too. He insisted they go for a drive to discuss Sophia’s involvement in this mess. The coyotes wanted her to poison the new wolf alpha at a catering event or they would kill her brother.
Jude, the new alpha of the wolves, wanted to improve relations with humans. He wanted to keep traditions with value, but make new ones if the old were not good ones. So he hired a human caterer as the first step. Sophia had her own preconceived notions about shifters, so saving her brother over a shifter's life was not too difficult a choice for her. But Jude is a good man. Will Sophia discover this and realize he is worthwhile and his life matters? Or will she carry out the poisoning to save her twin brother?
The book starts off very slowly with repeated, annoying phone calls. I cringed at the weak, spineless sister who accepted blame for everything in the world and would not stand up for herself. She was stupidly generous to her brother to bail him out of his constant troubles, giving him money she herself desperately needed; but then she let him walk all over her repeatedly rather than force him to get professional help or work through the consequences. I had no respect, and eventually no sympathy, for her.
This is not a book that I enjoyed, even though it did get a little better as it went along. But we all have different tastes and other readers may find it acceptable. This is merely my opinion.
This was a nice standalone story about Sophie and Jude... After Sophie's parents were killed by shifters when she was younger she wants nothing to do with them. When her brother lands himself in trouble yet again the only way to bail him out is to do the unthinkable and do a dirty job for the scumbag holding him hostage. Sophie has never killed anyone before but that is her impossible task to kill an alpha of the local wolf pack in order to gain her brothers freedom but things get rather complicated when she feels a strong pull towards said Alpha and falls for him. Jude and Sophie will have to work together in order for both Sophie's brother and Jude to come out alive!!!
My only issue with this story was that things seemed to move quickly like Sophie hated shifters but she quickly fell for Jude and was saying i love u after 2 weeks eeekkk just a little quick lol
I love shifters stories. Especially if one of the couple is human and there is some hate going on between shifters and humans. But I dislike, when one of family members continues to fuck up theirs life along with the main characters. Like in this instance, brother is messing up his life for years and Sophia is always running to him to help. She never could said no. It passes me off. I mean, I can understand wanting to help and all. But sometimes you need to say 'No' for not only to stop ruining your life by helping him but also to finally for him to grow up and acknowledge to himself, that he hit rock bottom and needs professional help. And the last fuck up brother brought to Sophia's door.... That's just... And her decision... Yeah.... Pissed off here. Thank God, for smart friends. At the end, Sophia made the right choices. But despite that for me it was kinda too late to like her. On the other hand Jude was awesome alpha. I can't say anything bad about him. For a quick read this story is OK.
I really enjoyed the first book in this new series. It's more risqué than Jennifer's usual books, so be prepared for a few more explicit scenes, but I still loved it! I enjoyed the characters, although I could have used a bit more back story on the war. I wish the ending had been more drawn out, there was a lot that seemed to happen off page that I would have liked to know the details, but maybe they'll come later. Even if not, it was a fun read and I'm excited to read the next in the series!
Short, quick read. Good story though not a lot of depth or character development. Both MCs are likable and the suspense element is interesting, though the villain appears not too bright. The wrap up with the brother is a bit too pat and some more detail on how the ending went down would settle the story better but overall it was a good read. I’d read more by this author.
This story has decent bones, the theme of protecting a family member is a good one. It's pretty quick which means the character backgrounds are fairly sparse as well as the story details. All In all, it's pretty good.
Perfect for readers who enjoy shifters, steamy romance, and complex characters! Packed with tension and chemistry, Jude is a great start to the series. Would love to read more!
What happens when you have a hole left inside you because of a shifters war that took your parents, a twin brother that is mixed up with the bad shifters in town & fall in love with the neutral Alpha shifter of another pack that you're supposed to kill? Want to find out, read this book!
I've never read a book by this author so this was my first. I love paranormal romance and it didn't disappoint! I look forward to reading more in the future.
Its hard to like an enabler. And she was it. Now, I don't mean I wanted to see her brother killed but a dirt bag is a dirt bag. Other than that I did enjoy the book.
There are drawbacks to having siblings...especially when you're twins. You literally feel each other. Sophia and Stephen had a tenuous relationship at best. She was always bailing her brother out of trouble. Now she's been pulled into his drama and someone's life hangs in the balance. But who's? This is an amazing PNR. Be led on a journey of love and angst as you see the lengths Sophia is willing to go to save her family. A definite 1-click!
