Zeus and Bo are real dogs, gorgeously illustrated on the cover of this slim volume, and the first section of the book includes a tribute to Zeus from his real family, plus lots of cool black and white photos.

Fred and Joe were born of contests at a local writers’ group, the Writers’ Mill, and found publication later with Linkville Press. Meanwhile Writers’ Mill members wrote their own Fred and Joe stories, together with other animal tales, collected together in sections two and three of the book.

The writing styles of different authors work well together in this book, combining stories, poems, sketches and drawings, and bringing to life the curious world around us. From frogs to dogs to swans, it’s a fun collection for children and their adults (and their pets).

Disclosure: The collection includes three entries from me. I hope this doesn’t disqualify me as a reviewer.
