Take a spine-tingling tour of the Pacific Northwest's dark side andlearn the local legends told around the fireplaces forgenerations. Haunts include home and hotels, schools and churches, lighthouses and graveyards.
This book is basically what the title suggests: retellings of famous ghost stories set in the Pacific Northwest. With that said, the retellings are very well done. Salmonson is a strong storyteller, and she chooses the clever route of having many of the stories narrated by the same ghost hunter, Penelope Pettiweather. The story notes in the back help the reader discern what is coming from her imagination, and what is documented.
There's nothing here that's "keep you up at night scary," but the stories are creepy at times, and funny at other times. The author has another, similar book called PHANTOM WATERS that I'll be sure to check out. She has also written several novels and short stories, in addition to editing several anthologies.
