Killer Charm

Rate this book
Former special ops-turned private-investigator Cam Hardy leaves a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes. He's all charm and sex appeal, and who can blame him for putting it to good use? Besides, it works damn well on the stunning and tough-as-nails makeup artist Drea Sanford. Only this time, Cam may be in over his head...

Drea is trying to keep her naughty affair with Cam a secret. After all, he's Harbor City's version of a Casanova...if Casanova had a motorcycle. When Cam makes their hot little liaison known to the public, however, she vows never to have sex with him again. Then one of her clients turns up dead. Now Drea is suspect number one--and she needs Cam's help. But sleeping with him is one thing...trusting him is quite another.

****Full Review****

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Drea and Cam have been enjoying a secret between-the-sheets relationship for the last few months but when Cam wants to bring things out into the open, Drea ends things quickly. Drea's past has taught her that loved ones can disappear in a blink of an eye and that having your personal business out in the open is embarrassing and damaging. However, when Drea gets caught up in a murder mystery its Cam who comes to her rescue and proves over and over he has her back. Cam has personal demons of his own and as he spends more time with Drea he begins to question if he is good enough for her. They're not only playing a deadly cat and mouse game with their lives but with their hearts.

Make Me Up starts off strong with action and boiling heat between our couple. Drea hits the pages running with her take no shit and meet any challenge attitude. It isn't until we get to the middle of the story that the reader starts to see some chinks in her armor. With the reveal of her past and how it has affected her, Drea became a more accessible character; it gave Drea more facets leading her to become more interesting. Cam had his own sob story but it wasn't quite as delved into (didn't tie into the overall suspense arc) and as a consequence his lasting impression was more of Alpha Stud #1. He's a mover and a shaker in the story but I hesitate to say three dimensional. Drea and Cam really shine when they are together, luckily for 90% of it they're stuck like glue to one another. Each obstacle they face is figured out by Cam with Drea rising up to the challenge for whatever he needs her to do. These two have a wicked playfulness between each other that make them pretty fun to read about.

The murder mystery/suspense arc that gives our couple a reason to be together keeps things moving at a swift pace. Drea is accused of murdering one of her clients, so with the cops and a mob boss on her tail Cam swoops in and uses his security contractor skills and resources to help her stay alive and unravel the murder mystery. The whole thing is a little unrealistic but nevertheless an entertaining ride to hop along with; the author also doesn't allow the story to stretch out, keeping it on the shorter side and more streamlined. This is the third in a series and while it appears Drea and Cam meet in a previous book I never felt lost or confused. If you've read the previous books in the series then you definitely don't want to miss the payoff you've probably been waiting for with this couple. Secondary characters involve past and future heroes and heroines, Cam's mentor, Cam's cop friend, a potentially devious friend of Drea, and a toadie of the mob boss. None of them have significant screen time but work well as a supporting cast and the future heroes have some potential.

There were a couple times when the "ice in Cam's veins" with his "I can't be with you because I'm bad news baby" and Drea's "I can't be with you because everyone dies around me" got a bit repetitive but overall, this was a lively read. If you have a couple hours to kill, Make Me Up is a wham bam thank you ma'am action romance read that would be an enjoyable way to pass the time.

When I got this book from Netgalley, I did not know what to expect because I forgot what the synopsis was all about.

Make Me Up by Avery Flynn was a pretty good book but to be honest nothing really spectacular. It wasn't the kind of book that makes me want to hang on word per word, it was the kind that made me skim some pages. One minute the characters was an inch from dying and the next moment they would be making love in the next scene which was really confusing for me.

I know with all the adrenaline it would really be plausible for that kind of thing to happen since they need to let some steam out, but the way it was written didn't really grip my attention. I'm not sure if this book is part of a series but the story started out with Drea and Cam in a party and Cam does something to Drea which she believes was an end-gamer for their relationship.

It was really confusing for me how fast the story went, one moment the characters are on the brink of a fall out then one moment the heroine is accused of murder and has to rely on the hero. It was just a roller coaster of activities which I wasn't too sure I enjoyed riding.

Because the story was fast paced, I felt that I haven't had the time to fully have a grasp of the characters especially Cam. He was first shown as a total playboy/douche but after a few chapters there was a complete 180 degree turn. He had a really depressing childhood but that wasn't given much emphasis and it was just mentioned in passing like a picture from his past and a brief mention of his history.

Because of that I haven't really been able to really appreciate Cam's character. Drea was African american which really made this book a lot more interesting for me Interracial romance novels are a dime in a dozen and seeing it in this book was like a breath of fresh air. Drea was a very great character who never took shit from anyone and just was so in control of her life which I really liked.

I guess this book would have been better if it was longer because even though it was 200+ pages in it, it was just full of activities that it seemed the book was short and choppy.

What I liked about this book was the action part because it was really thrilling and not something common. Another was the interracial romance which I mentioned above. Despite the fact that I mentioned a lot of things which I didn't like about the book it was still a good but just not something I would eve re-read.

Avery Flynn is back with her latest Killer Style novel and we finally get the two characters I have been desperate to get a story about in Cam and Drea. And guess what? It’s so worth the wait!!!!

I loved every page of this book from the first paragraph that had me snorting to the last when I was letting out a big fat happy sigh. Avery Flynn has given us the readers a book that you will not want to put down once you start. I know I couldn’t. But that could be because of Cam. He’s just delish.

I knew I was going to love Cam from this appearances in the previous books, but I didn’t’ expect to love him this hard. All six feet five inches of him that contains secrets from his past life as a former special ops soldier, a tough upbringing and a soft side that he hides under his playboy persona.

Each time she thought she finally understood him, he surprised her.

Drea has taken the prize of being my favourite heroine in this series. I’ve loved her attitude since the beginning but she steps it up and shows how tough she really is in this book. Drea has family drama she likes to keep hidden, but that has moulded who she is today and is the reason she has a shell around her heart.

Cam and Drea have been burning up the sheets in secret. Have been since they met a year ago but that’s all come to a screeching halt due to a misstep my Cam. No bringing it out in public. Drea has a rule to keep her life private and no-one breaks that rule. Not even the smoking hot Cam. So it’s back to cool sheets for both of them.

Reading Drea had become his favourite hobby over the past year and he wasn’t about to let that intel go to waste.

When a client dies while Drea is doing her makeup for a social event, things quickly go from bad to worse when she is suddenly accused of murder and the past that Drea takes great pains to hide comes out. She has very few people to turn to and the one that volunteers to help is the person she just cut out of her life, Cam. But he’s also the only person who can save her.

Cam doesn’t believe Drea did what she’s accused of and rides in to be her white knight. Using his contacts where possible to help and stay one step ahead of the law and the thug from his past who is now targeting Drea, they start to unravel the mystery of the socialite’s death, the connections to the criminal thug and how to stay alive till they can prove it all. All the while fighting the attraction that sizzles and burns between them.

Oh my God, she couldn’t think when he touched her like this. Hard. Demanding. Promising exactly what she knew he could deliver.

When connections are made and the truth comes out, the stakes get higher again. This time the bad guys get Drea and threaten her life. Can Cam get her away from the bad guys by busting her out of jail and stay ahead of the cops to save her life or will he be too late and lose and lose the best thing to happen to him in a long time? Or will Sylvie and Ryder kill him first for not keeping Drea safe?

This story has intrigue, humour, snark, hot loving, a undeniable alpha in Cam and a fast moving storyline that will hook you and not let go. I love how this author can mix all these components up and give us a book that doesn’t disappoint.

I’m a huge fan of this author and she knows it, but this series highlights why I am. Read them all then move onto all her other books. You will not be sorry.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

When Drea says no public displays of affection, did Cam think she was kidding? What woman wants to become another notch on the bedpost of the town stud? So what if they are having a secret and explosive affair and the sex is pure high –voltage stuff? Great job, Cam, what were you thinking? Drea keeps her word, she is history, but do either of them really believe it was just sex, just one year of flaming sex? When Drea becomes the prime suspect in the murder of one of her society make up clients, as well as a target in something dark and unknown, Cam can do nothing less than keep her alive and find the true murderer, whether she likes it or not? Will their flight for life bring their feelings into perspective? Will they finally admit there is more to their relationship than a secret tryst? Hang on for one hot suspense, as these two blaze the trail for answers, both inside the bedroom and in their hearts.

Make Me Up by Avery Flynn adds a spicy new flavor to suspense and who-dunnits as one alpha male does all he can to protect the woman he loves. Filling her world with snark, passion and danger, and dialogue sharp as tacks, Ms. Flynn has kept the pace fast, the characters brilliantly vibrant and the smoldering heat on high. The thrill of the chase, the romance, and strong characters, it’s all here! Add a comfy chair, settle in and enjoy!

Ever since Avery introduced Drea in High-Heeled Wonder as one of Sylvie’s partners in crime (and knowing Avery and her 2 partners in crime, I have an idea of who Drea is modeled after, I think) – i’ve been waiting for her story. She has one of those quirky personalities, that I could see early on was going to make for a fun romance between her and whoever her partner ended up being. And don’t worry, Cam didn’t disappoint either. Although I will admit that while I remember Drea from previous books in the series, I don’t have as much of a recollection of Cam (although, I’m sure that he has made an appearance because he works for the same Private Investigations company that previous characters have been employed by).

In keeping with previous themes, each chapter of Make-Me Up started off with a quote about make-up and its influence on life. That being said, anyone who knows me, knows how much I am not a make-up girl. Diverging a bit from my review (but it kind of ties in), I needed to buy make-up for an event a few years back, so my friend took me to Sephora and asked the sales woman to help…let’s just say, deer in the headlights was probably a good description when she started asking me about my make-up routine and t-zones…but even with my lack of make-up wearing (i mean, seriously, make-up or 10 min more in bed in the am…bed is going to win); I could connect to Drea as a character.

I will admit that the mystery/suspense element for me was fairly obvious and I knew the reveal about halfway through the book, but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment of Drea/Cam’s romance. I loved how Drea was a strong enough/confident enough woman in her own sexuality that she was ok with having a sex-based relationship with someone because that is what she wanted (does that make sense?). Overall, I gave Make-Me Up 4 stars and can’t wait to see what Ms Flynn comes up with next.

I've looked forward to Cam's book since book one in this series. Drea as his perfect match did not disappoint! Drew is a make up artist to the rich and famous. Cam us the bad boy who's been sleeping with her in secret until he breaks the rules and kisses her in public. She dumps him and rushes off to meet her client. That client ends up dying and her death is pinned on Drea. What follows is all of the twists and turns Cam and Drea take trying to solve the murder and get the charges against Drea dropped. It was a great story with a great resolution. It definitely made the glimpses of Cam in previous books worth the wait for his full story.

An incredibly fun sexy read that everyone should read. The story is filled with snarky banter, adventure, and lots of sexy times. Drea Sanford has been taking care of herself for a long time and she's just fine, thank you very much. Her business is hers and she doesn't like it being broadcast around. So when Cam Hardy tries to take their fling public she kicks him to the curb. But when one of her clients ends of dead and she's the prime suspect, Cam may be the only one who can help her. You'll definitely want to grab this one. I highly recommend it.

This was a fun, sexy adventure. The plot surrounding the dead client of Drea’s keeps the pace and mystery going. This book reads like an action adventure movie with two sexy leads. Cam is a former bad boy, former special ops turned investigator and it’s lucky for Drea that they had the whole friends-with-benefits thing going on. When Drea finds her client has died from a poisoned lipstick she used on her, the chase is on. Drea is getting framed and hunted from the police and an organized crime boss. Putting all the pieces together and keeping her safe is Cam’s number one focus. Not only is there some very sexy scenes while on the run, there are emotional talks between the two. You really get to know the story behind Cam and Drea – what makes them tick, their pasts and what they hope for in the future.
There is a lot in the book that I really liked. First, I liked the fact that Cam and Drea is an interracial couple. This is the norm in our daily life and it’s great that it is featured in a story. All too often the lead characters in contemporary romance novels are white and different ethnicities are relegated to secondary characters.
Second, I loved the makeup angle. I’ve recently stepped up my game in the makeup department and found the tidbits about make up fun and interesting. Drea talks about her chosen career and she speaks so eloquently about the power and beauty of makeup. Her career is so much more fun than if she had been an accountant who had discovered a set of cooked books.
Third, I really liked how the author started each chapter with a quote about beauty or makeup. They added a great touch to the story and kept the theme going of makeup. “Creativity is your best makeup skill. Don’t be afraid to experiment.” – Pat McGrath
This book had similar tones to one of my very favourite series, Sam Jellicoe by Suzanne Enoch. It was fun, fast paced and full of danger. Cam was a great character and I liked him. Drea was all sass and spunk. It was fun spending time with these two.

Drea and Cam have met in a pervious book within this series and have carried on a friends-with-benefits relationship. She is a sassy, fashion loving makeup artist and he is a sexy investigator for Maltese Security. While Drea is on a job, her client passes away and she becomes the number one suspect. Suddenly she is on the run, fleeing from the police and the unknown person who framed her and now wants her dead. Cam is the only one who can help solve this mystery and he will risk his life to save hers.

This is a story full of suspense and action. We know who the enemy is early on, but it takes some time to figure out the why. I have not read any previous books in the series, so I did miss that initial connection between Drea and Cam. I would love to know how they met and what made this playboy stick around for once. Speaking of playboy, Cam is a very lusty hero. Everything Drea does, regardless of the present situation, makes him think of sex. This certainly adds to the sexual tension in the book.

Initially I had trouble getting immersed in this book. I didn't feel as though the characters were fleshed out enough. Midway through, I started to become more invested as the drama continued to grow. Despite this, I never fully connected with the characters and I can't explain why. Perhaps if I knew more about their history together, that would be different. Overall, this is a good book, and it's a unique one for me as I don't see many inter-racial leads. While this can definately be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the previous book to fully get to know all of the characters and have a more fulfilling experience.

My thanks to NetGalley for the pleasure of reading and reviewing Make Me Up by Avery Flynn.

This fast paced action adventure romance is the story of Drea and Cam. They've been having a clandestine affair (kept secret at Drea's insistence) but when Drea's wealthy client ends up dead and she's accused of the murder, Cam takes it upon himself to help her out with the mess she's in and in the process their relationship heats up. Will they realize they are perfect for each other before it's too late?

What a fun read! From the start the sexual chemistry between Drea and Cam is present and doesn't let up as the story progresses, resulting in several steamy love scenes that ratchet up the intensity and the emotions between them. Drea is snarky but sweet, a no-nonsense type of girl who won't put up with Cam's bull and this just attracts Cam to her more. Suddenly the focus of attention when her client ends up dead, Cam is the perfect man to spirit her away, using his skills and security company assets to find out who's behind this attempt to frame Drea. On the surface Cam may be a playboy but in reality he's a loyal and dedicated man. He sees behind Drea's facade to the vulnerable woman beneath and is determined to protect her, even if he believes she needs protecting from himself. There are some appearances from characters in the previous Killer Style books (equally fun and action filled reads) that add to the story. It's an entertaining and sexy read. 5 stars!

An interesting story, full of action, adventure, mystery and romance. I liked the way author started every chapter with a quotation. it was a nice touch and some of those were my favourites. the story is about a make up artist who is framed for the murder of one of her regular clients. Her only option is to runaway. Which she did with Cam. Who is private investigator and he must find the real killer to save her.
Together Drea and Cam solve the mystery of her client's death. along the way they must revisit their pasts. Which wasn't easy but needed in order for them to move forward... It is a well writen book, I have not read previous books in the series but still loved it.

She had one rule with Cam Hardy, whatever they do in private says between them. However Cam decided to change the rules the day he openly kissed Drea Sanford and was shocked by Drea saying it was over. Cam is trying to wrap his head around what happened with Drea and the feelings of unsettlement, when he finds out Drea is a suspect in a murder. Cam vows to help her but as they dig more into the case they find themselves on a wild ride.

This is another delightful story from Avery Flynn, always expect the unexpected. I loved Cam, swoon worthy and once you learn about Drea and her reasons behind keeping everything private you love her. Look forward to reading more.

Cam he's just so swoon-worthy, "he stroked his thumb across her full bottom lip, so ripe for kissing. "Nobody effs with my girl." He was just an interesting character that I loved getting to know, "he'd bet money she wasn't wearing a bra." He's romantic in his own macho way, "I'm here." He took her face between his palms. "I will forever be here. You're mine. I'm yours. The other don't effing exist. It's just us, remember?" I enjoyed this book, I loved Cam.

Wow! Talk about a roller coaster of a ride! Cam and Drea were non stop action along with crazy twists and turns. A high energy book with total hotness, love and excitement. Cam and Drea finally found their diamond in the rough and knew who they could depend on. I loved their selflessness and stubbornness with a touch of cockiness. Great fun read cover to cover.

Fast paced action with all the sizzle I love. Drea is a strong independent character, but of course Cam is the one to make her weak in the knees. Cam is completely yummy. Cam breaks Drea's one rule so she cuts off the fling, but soon murder follows her. Now Cam is her only hope to clear her name and find the real murderer. Can he save her before she meets her maker?

This story is great, it is a fast moving storyline and you will definitely be drawn in by the 2 main characters Cam and Drea. This book has humor, hotness, a murder mystery, lots of hot loving, a sexy as hell alpha male and a kickass spitfire heroine. I love the banter between these 2. I really enjoyed this book.

First Thoughts

I loved this book! The characters were enjoyable, the scenes were steamy, and the mystery piqued my curiosity! Hats off to Avery Flynn for writing such a quick, fun read!

What I Enjoyed

Cam. Cam is perfectly swoon-worthy! I've always been a sucker for the "player gone good" and Cam definitely fell in that category! I loved the passages from his perspective-- it was entirely cute watching him go back and forth between wanting to rip Drea's clothes off and trying to prove he was giving up his gigolo ways for her. Poor guy!

The novel could be read as a somewhat of a standalone. Although Make Me Up is book 3 in the Killer Style series, it could be read on its own with little to no confusion. There were times where it was obvious that a character had been introduced in a previous book, but Make Me Up was still fantastic at explaining who each character was.

The steaminess. A couple of those scenes had me fanning myself and giggling like a little girl! Cam and Drea are so sexy together. Their passion and draw to each other was undeniable!

Avery Flynn's writing. Avery Flynn's writing style is so casual and I love it! It almost felt like a raunchy friend who likes to curse was telling me a story about her two friends, Cam and Drea. The vocabulary was simple enough for anyone to enjoy, the sexual innuendos were completely hilarious, and the characters were realistic.

Quotes

Tall, lean, and a little bit mean-- just the way Cam liked them. They'd spent a weekend naked and happy until the chief found them playing Adam and Eve at the Harrison family cabin. How was he supposed to know she'd blown off a cousin's wedding for wild monkey sex in the woods?

Hilarious, right?

Romance lovers who love a little steaminess in their books, fans of bad boys turned good, or anyone who loves a good mystery!

Avery Flynn!! I love her stories, you are always going to get more than just a romance with her books; you get intrigue, action, heat, emotion and excitement. This is my first book in the Killer Style series (and I have no idea how I missed out on the first two) and I really enjoyed Drea and Cam! I didn't feel lost jumping into the series at book three, but I am curious about the first two books so I will be going back to read those soon (probably in order this time)!

Make Me Up was fast paced, full of action and just damn fun to read! Avery Flynn is magnificent at creating characters that have more going on than you first assume. I love how the dialogue in her books is engaging, witty and smart (no dumb characters that make your groan here). Cam and Drea were a fun couple to read and I really enjoyed that their story started off right away with Drea being mad at Cam for "outing" their secret affair. Avery Flynn definitely enjoys taking stories and twisting them until they are not what you are used to, leaving you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next.

I love a good "running from the bad guys" story and Make Me Up did this with style and sass. Drea's character was one of the more fun female leads I have read in a book in a while. She was full of spunkish, fun style and not what you expect (I loved that)! Cam was her opposite in feelings and that made for a unique and refreshing read, having the male lead want to be "more" right off the bat. From suspecting murder, running from mobsters and keeping your make-up fresh while on the lamb, Avery Flynn delivered a great story that kept me engaged and turning pages in one sitting.

If you are looking for a fun read that has heat and style then look now further than Make Me Up and Avery Flynn!

Mystery, Mayhem, Suspsense and more...

Drea Sanford has some very high end clients, and doing the thing she loves best.."Make Up"...making them look outstanding. Something goes terribly wrong with her client, and her client collapses..She's dead and there pinning it on Drea.. Now she's answering questions from the police. Low and behold Cam Hardy shows up..He's going to help her? So it seems...

Cam Hardy is the stud who loves a challenge, former special ops, and now private investigator with Maltese Security he needs backup...He will do anything to protect Drea from what's going on. He has his own demons he's flighting. Only time will tell how all this will unfold.

As everything unfolds Cam realizes Drea is more then just some girl. She means a whole lot more. Now he needs to help her figure out this mess..will he get her out of it? It sure doesn't look good...

There's an attraction between them which they can't fight. So how will this pan out? Will they find the killer? Will Drea end up in jail? Oh boy..only way to find out is buy the book..I loved every minute of this book.

My opinion Ms. Flynn has written her Killer Style Novel's with plenty of grab action, and romance between her hero and heroine. The thing I love about her books is that the heroine's are feisty, no hold bares type of women, inspirational, strong, stand on there own..
The hero's are strong, sexy, and take care of there women too..just because they can..

So buy MAKE ME UP...and the rest of this wonderful series. You'll laugh and cheer these women on. I did just that..That's what makes for a wonderful book..and this is just that.

I was given this book through NetGalley for review.

Suspenseful, thrilling, adventurous…check! Sexy, HOT couple…check, check!

Cam and Drea have been having this secret affair. Well, it’s only secret because Drea wants it that way. This “relationship” that they have is purely physical, and they really know little about each other. When Drea suddenly finds herself in a dire situation, Cam is quick to help her, because she really could use the aid of his special-ops skills…pronto!

I absolutely adored this story! First, there is a lot of makeup talk. Drea is a makeup artist, after all. If you’re a girly, girl like me who gets that thrill of opening a brand new lipstick tube, then you’ll be familiar with all the brands and tools Drea uses for her work. Drea has worked hard to get to where she is, and I found her to be a strong heroine. Cam is literally her secret hunky boy toy, and she wants to keep it that way. Cam, on the other hand, is trying to sort out these strong feelings he has for Drea and is interested in more. Can he convince her to trust him?

Wowza! Why have I been missing out of this series? My first read from Avery Flynn kept me on the edge, made me giggle, and made me blush! And, yes, it also made me reach for my blush…the makeup kind! I loved getting to know some of the other characters in the series. I’ll have to read the other Killer Style books now. The plot in Make Me Up is super fast moving, fun, and suspenseful. The pairing in this story is truly sexy! An excellent read for me!

This is the 3rd book in Avery Flynn's wonderful Killer Style series. It is a fast paced murder suspense story that is engaging, thrilling, and super sexy right from the start. This book features Cam Hardy, a handsome, charming, Former special ops-turned private-investigator and Drea Sanford, a beautiful, tough-as-nails makeup artist. Cam & Drea met a year ago, had instant chemistry, and started having a covert affair. When Cam wanted it to be out in the open, Drea, who is a very private person, broke up with him on the spot. Drea has a history of everyone she loves and counts on, deserting her, and she doesn't want to be left high and dry by a lady killer like Cam. Cam was surprisingly hurt by that but because he had always been a fly by the seat of his pants, never make any plans kind of guy he figured he wasn't good enough for her anyway. But when a client of Drea's winds up dead and she is the main suspect, Cam comes to her aide and will do what it takes to clear her name and keep her safe. Drea however does not just count on Cam to get her out of this mess but is very courageous and dynamic in uncovering the truth, they make a great team. I love the growth in both of them as they realize that there was more and something worthy in themselves and each other. Their banter was hilarious and their chemistry explosive! This story is fast paced, full of heart pounding danger, heart pounding sex, and enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. It is fun and exciting, and I can't wait for the next book!

The third book in the Killer Style novel once again kills it. Avery Flynn takes an alpha male, kick a$$ heroine and murder to a killer level.

The action in this book starts off from the very beginning. Drea and Cam are carrying on with a friends with benefits relationship but that changes with Drea must go on the run after being a suspect in one of her clients murders. Cam is determined to keep her safe. The discover who is the real killer in the beginning but that only makes it harder for Cam to keep Drea safe. Both Drea and Cam think they don't deserve each other but as they grow closer their relationship grows.

I love Avery Flynn's book and she does not disappoint in this one. From page one the suspense and mayhem draw you in. Throw in someone trying to frame you for murder, wild sexual tension, friends that are there for you through anything, and the angst of will Drea's name be cleared and you have one wild ride. Great story line and awesome characters.

I love that at the beginning of every chapter there was a quote from some fashion icon.

I haven't read any of the books that precede this one in the series, so I was a little worried I'd be lost, seeing that this is book three. I was wrong. The book started off in an interesting way, with Cam kissing Drea, which effectively ended their romantic relationship. I wasn't sure why Drea wanted to keep it so hush-hush, and she alluded to her past, but it wasn't until half way into the book the real reason why came out.

Cam and Drea had great chemistry. I like how both had made assumptions about the other that were completely untrue. They just weren't sharing everything they were supposed to. Each thought the other wasn't in it for the long haul so they kept the best parts of themselves under wraps. It took adversity to bring them out.

The mystery was very interesting. The identity of the killer didn't become clear to me until later on and neither did the motive for the murder. That in itself was a little confusing. I think I'm going to need to go back and read the preceding books to find out more about the particular perp and the past. Overall, I really enjoyed this high octane mystery. It was hard to put down and I read it very quickly in one sitting.

Make Me Up by Avery Flynn is the third book in her Killer Style series and did not disappoint this reader - at all. Although this is the third book in a series, it can be read as a "standalone" without any problems.

This is Drea and Cam's story and it is filled with hot sexy fun, murder, action and plot twists that kept me turning the pages. Drea is a smart, tough, independent woman that keeps her private life very private. Cam is your typical Alpha male with an ex-military background; but he has a soft side that very few people have ever seen. Avery did a great job of making Drea and Cam realistic characters that I could relate to throughout the book. Working together they have a murder to solve, pasts that must be faced and issues to resolve before they can enjoy their HEA. Together they create an irrestible duo that can accomplish anything when they work together.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Make Me Up is full of action, mystery, and let's not forget the romance. Drea and Cam have a good thing going on until he breaks her one rule. So what does Drea....she tells hot stuff that their fling is over. Must have took a lot of self control on her part, because there is no way I would have cut off that man. Of course, nothing works out like you plan it to. One of of Drea's clients get murdered which means hello Cam. Now that Drea is a suspect in the murder investigations, Cam must keep her safe and find out who the real killer is.

Make Me Up is a real page turner with a storyline that keeps you intrigued. Avery Flynn's characters are easily likable and will have you invested in their well-being. I really enjoyed this story and the twists and turns that came with it. Definitely recommend this book and this author!

I was given this arc by the author for an honest review.

This is my favorite series by the author and Make Me Up has to be my favorite so far. Cam.... where do I begin. Playboy has met his match. He puts his career and his life on the line to protect Drea all while struggling with the terms of his feelings for her. Drea....She's Sarcastic, Sassy and Sexy.... great triple threat. I love her strong take no prisoner attitude. This was packed with action, hot loving, and snarky comments.

"Do you want to know what I'm going to do to you?"
"Yes." The single word came out as a tortured whisper.
"I'm going to taste every single inch of you until you can't think about anything else but how good you feel."....."Then I'm going to do it again."

Make Me Up is the second book I've read by Avery Flynn. This book was fast paced while still being slow enough to develop a good story. Cam screws up pretty early into the book, but in a way that would only be a screw up to someone like Drea. She tries to break things off from Cam, but then her entire world gets flipped upside down and he is the only one sticking by her. I think my favorite line from this book is, "The others don't fucking exist." It just shows how despite everything going on, they're it for each other. I give this book 4 stars and want to go back and read the first 2 in this series.
