This story was so awesome and very intriguing. I couldn't stop reading and read this book in one sitting. I loved the story as well as the ever popular SURPRISE moments of Mikel Wilson.
I had the pleasure of purchasing and reading this book. Although I don't usually read these type of books too often, I have to admit I was drawn in from the first paragraph and could not put it down. There was so much action and twist and turns that I was waiting for the next scene and chapter. These two new authors ha e a bright writing future ahead of them. I would definitely recommend reading this one. Kudos to the authors.
I got this book as an ARC, in exchange for a review.
Alright, so I read this pretty quickly, and it was an easy read. I found it really interesting, but lacking some background information on some of the characters. I needed more, don’t get me wrong, but I want more information on the first original characters, I need more depth. That’s why it’s 4 stars, instead of 5.
Now, for the good part: the praise. I loved how Hybrid watched over the Amazon and protected her, that’s so sweet. So it’s a love story inside of a young adult, fantasy novel. That leads to much more than you think it would. The world is pretty complex, but simple genius work at the same time. Like, some sort of magic.
I became enthralled with the book and couldn’t put it down for long. I thought one thing was going to happen, and then, Plot Twist × Plot Twist × Plot Twist × Plot Twist. So many of them! I didn’t even see the little Plot Twists that came along, so it was unpredictable, and I loved that! Then it ended and I was like … what?!
Shut the front door?! It did not just end that way. But, there were no more lines. I was like, noooooooo !!!! Although, there are more books to the series, I wanted more of an ending of book one, so book two could start new and fresh. Surprise! That’s not what happened. So I’m a little miffed by that, if I’m being honest.
I do get a ARC of the second book, so I’m all good. I don’t have to wait, thankfully. I’m glad I get to continue it, because I definitely want more. I want updates about the characters and the realm. I want to know what has happened since book one and so much more.
Do I think that you’ll like it? Yes, but remember it is for teens, and YA. That’s all I’ve got to say. You better pick up your copy now!
Sherry is an Amazon, but there is more to her. She starts feeling ill and learns from Mikel that she is a hybrid like him. Sherry is part Amazon part vampire. Mikel is part vampire part werewolf. Sherry becomes ill and her best friend Mags, the Amazon, helps her. Sherry is pregnant and Mikel is going to have to save her. Together they have a beautiful little girl that is the prophesized chosen one that has great power and can bring peace to the world. We follow along as the child grows and faces many challenges.
I have to say that I am a little torn on how to review this book. I liked the story, it was put together well and I liked how each part progressed. There were great powers and abilities and lots of adversity to face.
The part I had trouble with was the names. Sometimes Mikel goes by his name and other times Hybrid. Same for Sherry. But the part that got me was the flow of the story was rough. I admit that I could have read a rough draft so with some editing this could easily be fixed.
I think for a first book this one is a little rough. I do think that there could be future books that flow better but I had a hard time reading A Light Beyond the Darkness.
I received A Light Beyond the Darkness from Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.
This is the first book written by this author. The concept of this book is great. There is tons of potential for this story and I am intrigued by the type of characters the author has created. Unfortunately this book reads more like a narrative, someone telling you what is going on instead of showing you with words and I was unable to connect to the characters. The book is a short read and within the book there are 6 even shorter stories that make the book leaving very little room for depth. I do believe the author has great potential and with experience and time, each book will get better and better. If your looking for a quick, light read about different types of paranormal creatures then this would be a good read for you.
Maybe it was just my copy of the story but it felt very rushed and I just wasn't a fan. It seemed to jump around a bit and everyone fell in love very quickly. I understand that accelerated growth of the children and that they were basically teens but I disliked their attitudes at points. It made them seem very childish and the parents took a very "this is my house and I demand respect" approach to things.
Good story, interesting characters. An ever evolving storyline. You have witches, werewolves, dragons, hybrids, vampires... and ultimate evil, what more could you ask for.... oh wait you also get Amazons.
Really worth the read cannot wait to read more from these series.
I read this story when it first came out and I loved it! I bought copies for friends that I knew would enjoy the nonstop action this book offers! I have read it several times since then and have often recommend it to others. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!
I am a avid reader and this book is a loosely put together collection of short stories. The prose is at times very childish with no streamlined flow in reading. The jumps in narration doesn't leave a clue if told in first person or if the writers are telling a story (third person). This would be an excellent outline for multiple books to elaborate on characters. The reasoning I give for this is the choppy flow from one story to another and the jumps in time frames. The only plus to this book(?) Is that the premise of the stories shows imagination. I hope the writers learn plot and character development and research more about what they are writing about. The potential is there but potential is not what makes a best seller.
I would recommend this book to everyone who loves fantasy books. Sherry & Mike did an excellent job on this book. This book is a must read. It is hard to put down once you start reading it. The words draw you into the story and makes you apart of it.
