My name is Major Comfort and I am writing to you to clear up a matter of great importance. It seems a grave mistake has been made. A woman by the name of Lucretia Lynch arrived in town claiming to be my mail-order bride. The trouble is, I didn’t send for one!
My guess is my father is behind this. His name is Buford Comfort, and for some insane reason he thinks I should marry. Yesterday! Unfortunately, so does my so-called mail-order bride. She is determined to get me to the altar and to make matters worse, her father traveled with her, which only complicates the situation.
I’m not a drinking man, Mrs. Pettigrew, but I’m strongly considering taking it up! I implore you to write me post haste so we can get this straightened out as soon as possible!
Sincerely, Major Quincy Comfort
Honoria Cooke always knew she wasn’t as refined a young lady as she ought to be. She loved the feel of the wind in her hair as she raced her horse across the prairie. She could climb a tree as well as any of her brothers or cousins, out run them too. But when Major Quincy Comfort caught her eye, she wondered if she was the sort of woman to ever catch his. Just when she began to think so and let her heart fly, the unthinkable happened …
Lucretia Lynch was beautiful, sophisticated, well-dressed and from the glorious South. What was not to like as far as a southern gentlemen such as Major Comfort and his brothers were concerned? Moreover, she showed up in Clear Creek as Major’s mail-order bride! He claimed it was a mistake, a whim of his father. But as the days wore on, Honoria noticed him taking more and more interest in Miss Lynch which could only lead to the inevitable. What had she been thinking? How could she possible compete with the likes of a true Southern Belle? She couldn’t.
Enjoy this sweet, clean historical western romance set in the whimsical town of Clear Creek. Where anything can happen, and usually does!
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
I love Kit Morgan's stories. I absolutely loved this one and I think it is the best in this series, She writes the quirkiest characters I have ever read and that alone makes her stories so much fun to read. This one is in my favorite town of Clear Creek, OR. Clear Creek is a fun and quirky little town in Oregon and has the funniest and strangest characters you have ever read about. Honoria Cooke of the largest family in town is the daughter of the eldest Cooke brothers Harrison and Sadie. She met Major Quincy Comfort in the second book where is seemed something might just be slightly simmering between them. This book is their story but with twists and turns you won't believe. This story had me out loud laughing as all of her books but some things just made you want to hit someone as well as the twists and turns make you think, "How can this be happening." All of Kit's stories are that way but this one is just one trouble making problem after another. Harrison is the father who just can't realize his little girl, first born, is a grown woman now and he is outrageous in his behavior when he sees his little girl finding something romantic in Major. He just can't handle it and by the way if you don't know about the Cooke brothers, they are from England so that makes them a bit more heroic and crazy in a fatherly way. Honoria is also a young woman who is sweet but speaks her mind and when she does to her father he goes a bit ballistic. He tries to put restraints on her and even though this takes place in the later 1800's she still tells him what she thinks and wants. Of course the simmering romance between her and Major has some really bizarre circumstances that are trying to keep them apart. If you read the first two stories in this series, you must read this one as it is the best so far. There isn't anything about this story I didn't love even those trying to keep them apart. Kit just is witty, fun and has complex characters in wacky towns that just plead you to jump right in and you feel like you are right there watching everything play out. She is just an excellent and fun writer of clean historical stories and I highly recommend you reading all her books in this series and the Mail Order Brides series and that's where you learn about the towns Nowhere, WA, Clear Creek, OR and Oregon City where most of these stories take place or places around them. Each town is unique as the characters and believe me they are characters, if you know what I mean! Fun, witty, crazy, bizarre, and what other adjectives you can find to describe each town and it's characters. Just read them and you won't be sorry at all and will want all her stories.
So Kit Morgan is the author that I stumbled across last year that introduced me to the whole mail order bride/western historical romance/kindle book thing. I have loved everything that I've read by her and this is no different. You really can't go wrong reading any book by Kit Morgan.
We met Major in Dear Mr. Turner, he’s Pleasant’s oldest brother. The attraction, the spark of interest between Honoria and Major were obvious at their early meetings, and it’s only intensified since then. That spark of interest might have gone the usual way with young lovers, some courting, some getting the parents to like you… but one determined, unasked for mail order bride is about to upset a lot of people, and put a major cramp in one romance’s natural course. There’s something very wrong about Miss Lucretia Lynch and her oily father, there’s trickery afoot here but can Major get all the facts straight before he’s dragged to the alter with the wrong bride?
I had such a good time with Dear Mr. Comfort. We not only get to watch a bit of drama play out but we also get to reunite with old friends from a previous series. It was delightful to see the spark of interest at the ending of the previous story now turn into a complicated romance between one very headstrong, stubborn you woman and a man who is starting over with very little but his honor, his name and his intentions to back him up. It’s very easy to dislike Lucretia and her father, they’re up to something and perhaps it’s not hard to figure that out but you won’t be sure of all the details until the ending. I loved the interaction between the townsfolk, friends, neighbors and newcomers. To be able to revisit with a fun couple from the Prairie Brides series was a special treat. And watching a very, very overprotective father deal with his grown up daughter is both sad and exciting as he finally lets Honoria be the young woman he raised. Fathers will always think their daughters are too good or too young for any man… but Harrison takes that belief to true extremes, and provided some humor at times. If you enjoy Western Historical Romance then Dear Mr. Comfort is a story you’ll want to get your hands on. It’s funny, sad and delightful all rolled together. I had fun, and that is why I read romance.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Honoria Cooke is the first child of Clear Creek and she's now 18 and finally found a man who catches her attention. Major Quincy Comfort is the eldest brother of Pleasant and finds Honoria attractive. This story doesn't have a physical drama as in many other stories in this series. Instead, there is a con man...and a visit from previous characters who now live in another country.
Major misunderstanding and trickery to boot make an interesting tale. Mrs. Morgan always delight readers with a visit to Clear Creek. A blend of old and new characters endearing readers for books to come. You cannot wait for the next one in this delightful series.
Very good book, love how all the stories are tied together. I am so glad I have read most of them. Can't wait to read the next one. Very good books clean and family friendly..
I've enjoyed reading this story of adventure and romance. The author has done a wonderful job of telling the tale of the characters in a Christmas in a small town.
Good book. Enjoyed the characters. Fun Quote: She was a brushfire in a blue calico dress, full of spirit and life. Untamable. I purchased this book from Christian Book Discounts. All opinions are mine alone without expectation or compensation. ⭐⭐⭐ 3 stars= I liked it
A sweet love story that almost didn’t happen. Honoria Cooke fell in love with Major Comfort who had a mail order bride show up with her Daddy. Oh bother! Exciting story!
This was a fun read for the most part, but I couldn’t figure Major out. Why he kept hanging around with that horrible Lucretia… It was so obvious he was head over heels in love with Honoria. Sweet ending!
I love this series and how so many of her stories follow families. Honoria is a fun character and so is Major. Loved the little wrench thrown into their plans. Another sweet and great read!
Thank you so much for this exciting love story about Honoria and Major. I loved the storyline and the different characters. You always had to be on your toes.
Aww, it's so nice when the Berg's come to town or "How to Out-Con a Con." Oh, and who was that very tall and broad royal guard with the plaid cloth around his lower face?
