She’s eighteen. She’s pregnant. She’s terrified. He's injured, alone and dying on the ice. Can these two strangers protect each other from the dangers that are coming for them?
Kade Kingsley is sick of hiding out in the middle of nowhere. He should be having a good time, partying and living it up, not playing bodyguard to his best friend’s runaway girlfriend.
When he decides to leave the mountainside he’s called home for the last two months, he promises to be careful. He knows the stakes are high, and he knows that the makeshift family he’s leaving behind is counting on him to come back.
What he doesn’t count on is getting mugged and left for dead. And he definitely doesn’t count on being rescued by a girl with secrets of her own…secrets that rival his.
As Julienne Bishop, a down-on-her-luck girl hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend, nurses Kade back to health, an uneasy bond forms between them. They need each other, even if they don’t realize it, and even if they have a hard time accepting it.
Because danger is coming at them from both sides, and they must figure out if they can trust each other...before it’s too late.

Speak No Evil was the second book in the Brotherhood series. As much as I loved the first book, I loved this one even more. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
It focused on Kade after he left his "family" to find some excitement. He ends up in Reno working as a maintenance guy at a local ice rink/restaurant/bar and playing for the local hockey team. Julienne Bishop is working in the kitchen of the restaurant. She's a pregnant runaway, hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend. When Jules comes to the aid of Kade one unfortunate night, the two strike up a friendship. They are drawn to one another, but each is living with secrets. There's no trust. Not a good place to start. And when their respective pasts catch up to them, the danger may be too much.
The success of this book was because of Kade. Jules is a good character who comes into her own as the book progresses; she is pure sweetness, but this is all Kade's book. He changes so much during the story. He goes from being a teenager, resentful that his easy life has been ripped away from him to a caring young man. I was not a fan of spoiled Kade, but that changed page by page. His appreciation for food amused me, the flashbacks of his grandparents won me over, and then his feelings for Jules and her baby made me love him. The final conversation on the porch between him and Trey made me a fan for life. His softness, mixed with his strength; the spoiled boy became an upstanding man.
This group of friends; this "family" that Jordan Ford has created is wonderful. She has managed to take a group of teenagers, put them into dangerous situations, have them find love, and still remain true to each other. Their love and support for each other in the end keeps me coming back for more. I can't wait for Riley to find his happiness. As solid as he's been for the guys and their girls, he deserves nothing less than his own happily ever after.
Ok So I really enjoyed this book so much .. it's all about the meaning of family and true love :D to be honest I didn't like Kade from the first book but he really redeemed himself in his story .. Juliane is alright but I still don't understand her insta love thing when she saw Kade for the first time .. overall it was an enjoyable read and now to the third book .. MAAANN things are getting serious now :D
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it
After reading the first book I could hardly wait to start the second book, but I have to admit I was a bit hesitant as well. Speak No Evil follows the point of view of Kade, who in the first book was my least favorite of the three boys, but he really grew on me in this book. Once I started reading I got sucked into the story and had to know how it ended. It has a low key suspense feel, where you just know things are going to go wrong at some point. But you're not exactly sure when or how and you're just waiting for that to happen.
While Kade was my least favorite of the three boys in book 1, he really grew on me in this book. And he really grows and changes as a person. He becomes more mature gradually, but at the start he was still the very charming guy who liked to have one night stands with hot girls. Then he meets Jules and he slowly changes. I really liked seeing the changes in his character and how she slowly fell for Jules. I also liked seeing him grow into his own while away and he came to appreciate his friends even more.
And Jules was a great female main character and a perfect fit for Kade. She was quiet, but she had so much heart inside of her, she cared a lot. I also liked how she loved to cook and I really have to try her Ambrosia Pie recipe, which was included at the end of the book! I also felt so bad for her what she had to go through at home before she ran away from it all, but even with that situation she had fond memories as well. She had fallen for the wrong prince and now is a bit bitter and doesn't believe in knights or princes anymore, but she's going to get proven wrong when she meets Kade.
This book is mainly a romance story, but there's so much more. It's about fighting for what you believe in, growing up and making difficult choices. It's a tad unbelievable at times, but the way the author writes it makes it all seem possible. There's also a bit of suspense, it's not the main focus, but enough to keep you on your toes, waiting for the bad things to happen. I wasn't too fond of the pregnancy plot line, but that's probably because I am not really a baby person and couldn't relate to that part. But it did make for an high stakes conflict and I did feel that Jules her behavior was believable and felt realistic.
I also liked how the book gets wrapped up well, there is a high tension scene that normally would be right at the end of the book, but this book continues onward and I actually liked that and how this book ended. Nicely wrapping up this story and setting the stage for the next book. I am glad we got to see a bit of Trey, Ana and Riley as well in this book. Although there's a big part where you don't see them, we meet some other great side characters there, like Keith, who was just such a good person. And I am so excited Riley his story is next!
To summarize: This was such a good read! A heartwarming slow building romance, a tad of suspense and characters you grow to care about. I have to admit I liked Kade the least of the three boys in book 1, but he really grew on me in this book and he changed a lot. I liked seeing his adjust his attitude towards life and mature a lot in this book. And seeing him fall for Jules was great. Jules this sweet girl who has been through a lot of difficult stuff and doesn't believe in shining knights who come to her rescue anymore, so it takes her awhile to warm up to Kade. I liked the added touch of suspense and how at the end it got nicely wrapped up and a bit of set-up for book 3. All in all this was another great read and I didn't want to stop reading once I started. I am looking forward to book 3!
I liked this one better than the first but it still took me a while to get into it. I didn't enjoy hearing about his 3 ONS (no details) or the fact that the heroine was around for one of those - the H and h had only seen each other, never talked, when the 3rd ONS happened. BUT knowing that Kade had ONS fit his character. He was def the playboy of the guys. Plus, our heroine isn't exactly pure as the driving snow considering she's pregnant. So, they are kinda equal in that aspect.
Kade and Jules coming together, learning to trust each other, and falling in love was very sweet. The angst is very low key but they both have conflicts to personally overcome. Their story was overall cute and sweet - not what I typically read but sometimes its nice to read something less erotic.
Once they met they were only with each other - consider Jules is pregnant there is no sex between the two of them by the time the story ends BUT Kade does have plans. As this is YA there are no descriptive sex scenes - we only know of them. The most descriptive you get is that Kade had a "good time" with a girl in the back seat and Jules must have got pregnant during bathroom sex with her ex.
Ultimately, it was a good continuation of the original story. Riley's story is up next and I think it will be the best. I'm looking forward to not only his story but the resolution to the overall story line and hopefully a peak a few years down the road so we can see how everyone is doing.
This is the first book I read in 2017! And what a great start it was!
Since I read the profile of Kade I felt like I was going to enjoy this book very much. And Jordan Ford didn't let me down at all! I didn't just fall in love with Kade only, but Jules too! She was such a sweet young, strong girl just trying to do what was best for the safety of the baby, and that really touched my heart.
Getting to see a different side of Kade, that he actually has feeling and the capacity to care so deeply for someone else was wonderful. At first I thought he wouldn't, but he did, and won Jules's heart on the way.
My favorite scene in the whole book was definitely the last one. When they were holdind the baby and talking about all the love they would give her melt all my insides. It was beautiful.
I'm so ready for the final book to come to see Ry's story and final ending for everyone!
I was privileged enough to receive a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
Loved it! This is the second book in The Brotherhood trilogy. While I'm not a fan of series,(because authors take too long between books) Ms. Ford manages to turn them out quickly and thoroughly. All the while fleshing out a solid story that sucks you in and doesn't let go. This is Kade's story. What I loved was while reading this book, I saw Kade go from an immature teenager at the beginning to a mature adult by the end. We watch Kade go from thinking about himself first ( and occasionally others second) to thinking about others first. Such an amazing growth. Thank you, Ms. Ford, for such a wonderful storyline. I look forward to seeing how this all ends in the final book up next.
I feel like this book has taken forever to get here, but FINALLY - it's live! What a privilege working on this story was. Jules has got to be one of the sweetest characters I've ever written and to watch her and Kade fall in love... it was so beautiful. Kade grows so much in this story. I think that's what I love most about the book—watching him grow from a self-centered kid into a man. You'll have to read the story to see how that happens, but if you do...I REALLY hope you enjoy it :)
Thanks so much to all the readers who have checked out this book and the Brotherhood Trilogy. It means the world to me and I really appreciate you :)

Speak No Evil is the second book in the Brotherhood Trilogy written by the extraordinary Jordan Ford (Melissa Pearl)! I thought that nothing could ever compare to the first book, but the author did it again. Even though I loved the first book in this trilogy, Kade’s story has managed to wedged its way into my heart, leaving me with the ultimate book hangover!
The book picks up about two months from where the first one ends. This story follows Kade’s journey after leaving his “family” in the cabin that is owned by Riley’s uncle who has mysteriously disappeared without a trace prior to their arrival. Although Kade loves his “brothers” and is willing to do anything for them, he is sick and tired of hiding out in these isolated mountains that they fled to at the end of the first book after Ana was shot. Leaving his “family” behind, Kade finds himself in Reno with a new identity. Gone is the eighteen year old prep school “runaway” Kade Kingsley and in his place emerges a twenty-one old Karl Hannon. Kade had no intention of staying in Reno, but when he is offered a job and the opportunity to play hockey once again he jumps at the chance, figuring he could make a few extra bucks before finding somewhere else go.
Julienne Bishop a.k.a. Jules away ran from her abusive ex-boyfriend after discovering that she was pregnant. Her plan is to stay under the radar until she gives birth and can give it up for adoption. Ending up in Reno she works as a kitchen hand at Skate Home Bar and Grill to make money while trying to hide her pregnancy from those around her. When she meets “Karl” she’s instantly attracted to him but knows that nothing can ever happen. One night Jules is walking home from work when she discovers “Karl” beaten and left for dead in the center of the rink. Nursing him back to health they begin to get closer and their connection is instantly undeniable.
Once their secrets begin to come out they must keep each other safe at all costs…
Julienne Bishop, a down-on-her-luck girl hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend, and father. She's sweet, caring, a little naive, friendly, overall lovely.
Kade Kingsley is a manwhore, who is sick of hiding out in the middle of the mountains, where nothing ever happens. According to him he needs action, needs people to party with. Since his brothers are so focus in keeping Anna safe, his the only that feels this way.
That's why he decides to leave the mountainside he’s called home for the last two months. He promises to be careful. He knows the stakes are high, and he knows that the makeshift family he’s leaving behind is counting on him to come back.
What he does not count on is to get mugged and left for dead, less to get rescued by a sweet girl whose secrets can rival his own.
She nurses Kade (who she does not really knows anything about) back to health, forming a weird and unexpected bond between them. They need each other, even tho they don't want to accept it. The second book in this trilogy about three "brothers" and the girls they must protect. However they are forced to since danger is coming at them from both sides, and they must figure out if they can trust each other.
The story is told by Jules and Kades POV. You can see and tell how they feel about each other and everybody else around them. I loved that the author gave us a little insight on Jules life at the beginning of the book. Giving us the opportunity to see for ourself why she left all behind and not see just take off. Even there are things we see and understand better as the story goes, but it's very self explanatory if you read the first chapters. Also if you read the first book, Trey's and Anna's (Which I highly recommend you to do) you would also understand what Kade's departure caused between them. And even why he did it.
I loved how caring, sweet, strong, and protective Kade turned out to be.
“It’s just so insane. This whole thing. I never thought I’d be standing in a concrete shoebox holding a beat-up…fugitive.” My giggle turns into a kind of watery laugh. “This is not at all how I pictured my senior year of high school.”
How everything happens is insane, more than crazy, but it's amazing to see how everything happens between them.
I don't want to spoil anything for you. That's why I'm keeping my comments to the minimum, but this story made me feel. I felt everything they were going through. I was desperate to know how they were going to survive. Still I'm curious to know.
As is a little typical when I read YA books, part of me just cannot imagine much less relate to some of the issues the teenagers are facing. But then there is that side of me that just wants them to triumph over those issues, even if I am surprised by how they do it. This series is definitely one of those where I've been uncertain how these kids are going to get through being on the run and the fact that they ask that same question is one of the reasons I like the series and cannot wait to see what the author has in mind for the ending. Learning this was Kade's story made me a little nervous. My least favorite of the trio; the most self-absorbed and the one who not surprisingly would run out on them I struggled to get past how selfish he was. However, I found myself coming to really like the guy by the end. Learning his history did help, but it was also watching him fall for someone and finally learning what Trey was feeling and understanding exactly what is more important than the carefree life he was missing. If asked, I don't think I would have chosen Jules for him, but I can see how he would need someone like her. She was just a tad too insecure for me, but at the same time, I could see why she was that way. And I do give her credit for being brave enough to do what was right for her regardless of how scary it is to be alone, and at 18.
There were a few moments throughout the book that I really loved. That moment when Kade realized that Jules was hurt by someone like him. Someone looking for a good time, but no lasting commitment and he didn't like the idea that he was one of those guys. Or when it hit him that when he needed to run again, he wanted and needed the family he ran away from. That moment at the end with Trey on the porch. Moments that show how the characters grow, but also highlight the fact they are still teenagers finding their way day by day through difficult situations. And things just aren't getting any easier, but there are still good people out there willing to help out too. Which brings me to the one couple I really liked and that I hope we get to see again in the next book, Keith and Cassidy.
Like the first book, this one pulled me in fairly quickly. I for one cannot wait for Riley's story. The more even-keeled of the bunch, but somehow more mysterious too.
I couldn‘t wait for Kade‘s story and I absolutely enjoyed his book. Maybe I love it even more than the first one in the brotherhood trilogy...just a tiny little bit ;) because Julienne is the sweetest, loving girl and well, like Julienne states it Kade just „makes it impossible not to like him“. I felt Kade‘s restlessness in the beginning and Julienne‘s fear made my heart beat faster.
.She‘s alone and scared. I understand that feeling. I know exactly what it‘s like to have no one willing to fight for you, look out for you, promise to stick around no matter what you do.
These two lost souls are meant to find each other in this emotional story about friendship, sacrifices and the true meaning of family.
I love the mix of suspense/mystery and romance in this series, the writing is great, gripping and perfectly paced.
This group of friends has to grow up real fast, put plans on hold and make new ones to protect their little family. I loved seeing the gang together again :)
.We‘re family. We look after each other, no matter what.
The journey of Kade and Julienne could be read as a Standalone but to understand the whole story I recommend reading „See no evil“ first. There‘s not really a cliffhanger, but not all questions are answered and I can‘t wait to find out how it all turns out in Riley‘s book.
Speak No Evil is the second of the Brotherhood series, and focuses on Kade as he decides that he can't stay on the mountain any longer. He needs to live... he's only 18 years old! This obviously brings a rift between him and Trey, as Trey can't believe that he would abandon them. Riley is stoic throughout, he doesn't want Kade to go, but knows that he will anyway so why make a fuss? Kade has a couple of epiphanies during this book, mainly because of something that Jules has said or done. Jules is also 18 and is pregnant. She has run away from home as she made a decision about the baby different to what the father wanted her to do. Together, these two help the other to heal. Something in Jules makes Kade want to be different; something in Kade makes Jules more certain, more outgoing.
This is a wonderful heartwarming story, with a hint of suspense on the level with book one. With different circumstances to contend with, you will be cheering on and hoping that Jules and Kade get their HEA. There are still a lot of questions to be answered, which I presume will happen in Riley's book, which I can't wait for. With appearances from Trey, Ana, and Riley, plus a host of new characters, the story moves along at a steady and smooth pace. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Jan 15, 2017
Speak No Evil is definitely more intense and more deep than See No Evil. Both have deep meanings but this story is way more emotional and heartbreaking yet beautiful all at the same time. I fell in love with their story even when things get hard - especially when things get hard.
Jules have suffered so much yet she's still strong and brave. I admire her for that because she doesn't give up. The moment she's determined to stop dealing with boys, the perfect guy comes along. Talk about timing, righy? They really have a mind of their own.
I didn't really like Kade at first. He's a bit selfish and sometimes too cocky. And don't forget his playboy ways. Boys like that are always looking for trouble. But love has shown and given him a new light.
Words can't truly comprehend and express what I feel about this book. The plotline is perfect in every aspect. The characters are full of surprises. What is there more to say? All in all, I truly enjoyed reading Kade and Jules story. And I really look forward to read the next instalment in the Brotherhood series. And more of Kade, Jules, Ana and Trey! Oh, and baby Ellie!!
This is the remarkable Brotherhood Triology Series Book 2. This one follows Kade Kingsley as he is sick of hiding out in the middle of nowhere, he decides to leave the mountainside he's called home for two months, he promises to be careful & come back. He then meets Julienne Bishop's with secrets of her own & danger coming from both sides will they trust each other. I am completely in love with this series & it's character's. This novel is just as good as the first one. A Beautifully written & developed novel with no plot holes. With sensational character's that are realistic with real emotions and flaws. A suspenseful romance novel that will have you at the end of your seat waiting to read what happens next. A real page turner that had me hooked right from the start to the end. With a perfect ending. I am so excited to read Riley's story as he is my favourite guy in this series. One of my favourite book series ever. I highly recommend reading this phenomenal suspense series as it is totally worth it.
Another great story by Jordan Ford. The story of these three brothers/friends who do everything to protect Anna is beautiful. And in this book, knowing a little more about Kade, there's no way we can't fall in love with him. He's a very interesting character and has matured a lot throughout story. Julienne is already a mature teenager for everything she's had to face despite her age, and when she finds out she's pregnant with her ex-boyfriend, she does everything to get away from him and for him to not find her. Kade and Jules' meeting is cosmic. Fate has certainly united them. It's a beautiful story, with very interesting storyline and characters. I highly recommend reading it. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Awesome! This series is going to be a hit. I can not wait to read the next book. This book is full of so many "Feels" I loved it. This book is complicated and the characters so richly developed. Jordan hit a Homerun! I couldn't put it down. This story is mostly about Jules and Kade. Both are running from outside sources, Kade is doing so to protect someone and Jules is doing so to protect her unborn baby. This is a fantastic read! So many different parts, so compelling. The only part I wished for was for Kade and Jules to finally "be together" - I am hoping we will get to read that in the next book. I ABSOLUTELY recommend.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Tired of being isolated in the mountains, Kade has decided to leave his "brothers" in hiding and set off on his own adventure. He ends up in the same town as Julienne, who is in hiding to escape an abusive ex-boyfriend. Kade and Julienne become friends, but choose not to share the details of their pasts. Sharing their secrets may put both of them in great danger, but keeping them threatens to destroy their friendship. Speak No Evil is a great addition to the Brotherhood series. I look forward to the next book in the series to unravel the mystery of Riley's past.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
This is book two of the Brotherhood Trilogy, and picks up right where book one ends. with Trey, Kade, and Riley along with Chris at the cabin, Kad is starting to get cabin fever and decides he needs to go and find himself, he winds up in a small town near Reno Nevada, Where he finds work in a local ice rink/restaurant/bar and also plays hockey, Jules works in the restaurant and is a runaway who is pregnant with her abusive ex boyfriends baby. When Jules and Kade's past come back to haunt them both their lives are in danger. This book really shows how Kade grows up it is beautiful and touching I LOVED it cannot wait for book 3
Oh my goodness! This series us getting better and better. Speak No Evil is book 2 in the series. This is Made and Julienne's story. The book picks up where it left off in book one and it is just as wild as the first book. If you loved book 1 you'll love book 2 even more! Jordan Ford has struck gold with this series.
This book did not go the way I thought it would. I'm not going to spoil it, but don't put it down until the end. I didn't find this book as action packed as the first book in the series, but the story was too good to make that an issue. Now I just have to wait for Riley's book.
This is turning into a good series. Now I'm stuck waiting for the third book. At least it will be out in February. Not to long now. Lots of drama going on here. I can't wait for the third brother to find love also. I feel sorry for him.
This story was so much fun to read. I’ve read the first book in the novel and loved how this one picked up the story right from where the last one ended. It could be a standalone just for the romance but the whole effect of this series comes only by reading every book. There are lots of things about Kade that are mentioned in the first book and the whole story behind how they ended up at the place they are at, is told in the first book. This book doesn’t resolve the main underlying plot that ties all three books together but does give a nice segue into the third book of the series. I’m looking forwards to and am a bit sad to finish this series.
The characters were huge amounts of fun. They were all so well written. Each one of them has a full back story that has so many different layers. Both Kade and Jullienne were great people and amazing as a couple together. It was exciting to see them learn about each other and see from where they came from to where they ended up. I loved the villains in the novel like Officer Rybeck, who wasn’t really a villain but I don’t like him, and Anthony, who is a trashy boyfriend. Jullienne was so sweet and while she did make a mistake of being with Anthony even after knowing his family was racist against her, she truly grew throughout the novel. I do hope to see her more in the third book because I feel her full storyline wasn’t complete. Kade was such a sweet boy underneath that rough exterior. I understood his perspective of not trusting people or letting them in, but as the story went on, I loved to see his beliefs evolving. Their story is one worth reading.
The plot was really interesting. I liked how Kade’s story was mixed with the first book and how Jullienne’s story had its own path altogether. They both had a lot of action and drama and it all gelled really well. I’m excited to read the last book in the series. (I’ve already started it.)
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I didn't like this one as much as the first. The characters felt very naive despite the adult situation they were in, especially Jules.
Kade is a really good H. He's confident and loyal, but he was missing something in this book. Spunk maybe? I was expecting more from his character.
Jules was just naive. HUGE SPOILER AHEAD! Because of all that, I didn't really care for her.
Overall though, the book was good. It was a quick read and made me anxious for Riley's book. I have a feeling his will be the best one in the series. He seems like he has a lot of secrets to unveil. I'm hoping this final book will wrap up all of the crap with Ana's family, too.
Book two of this trilogy continues on with Kade being unhappy stuck in seclusion, trying to keep Ana safe. He decides to leave and finds himself settling into a new town and falling for a new girl, Jules. Jules comes with her own baggage. Just when you think things are going well, disaster strikes for both Kade and Jules forcing the two to flee together back to the cabin. Bringing Jules back is a risk to their safety, and Jules’s pregnancy is going to cause worry , but with Trey, Ana and Riley on their side, this family is strong and willing to face any danger that may occur. And the question is when will it? This book ends with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for this conclusion with Riley’s story!
Kade and Jules have a connection the narrators make you feel, from their passion to their fear. Tor Thom and Charley Ongel continue this NA romantic suspense narration with the amount of angst and emotion for these new adults to be believable in their quest to keep themselves safe. Love this!
>I am an independent reviewer. This is the second book in the Brotherhood Trilogy and ends in an HEA. Kade is hiding out with his "brothers" and Ana until the threat to Ana is gone. He goes a bit stir crazy and gets a bit horny, causing him to take off. He changes his name to protect the others and meets a pregnant waitress in a small town. Kade helps Jules and protects her from her abusive ex. When Kade's problems find him, they both travel back to Ana and the others.
>I likes the characters of Jules and Kade. They both act way older than 18. I especially had an issue with Kade's maturity coming right after he left the safe house because he was horny. There is a good love story in among all of the running and hiding.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The HEA was present, but the situation was still ongoing for all of the teens.
