Branwell D’Angelo . . .
Branwell D’Angelo . . .
Six years ago, I fell in love with Lucy—my brother’s girlfriend. Stupid of me, I know, but sometimes the heart doesn’t listen to reason. Six years, I’ve lived on the sidelines. Seeing him love her, be with her, bask in her sunshine . . . I watched her break his heart and then cleaned up the shattered pieces of him she left behind. She’s the one woman I can’t have but still the only one my soul wants. Now she’s back in our lives and needs the unique help only us D’Angelos can give. He’s not emotionally strong enough to face her. So he’s sending me instead . . .

When tragedy strikes Lucy Snow on a visit to Italy, she can’t bring herself to call any of the D’Angelo brothers for help. There are consequences for falling in love with your ex-boyfriend’s brother. But Lucy desperately needs Branwell’s paranormal skills and his gift of Sight. And if seeing him will negate at least three years of therapy? Well, it’s a price she is willing to pay.

Thrown together in a desperate bid to save an innocent life, Branwell and Lucy struggle against their shared past, only to realize that something even more dangerous is reaching through the weight of time to stalk their every move . . .

Though the second book in the Brothers Maledetti series, Love's Shadow is a full-length, standalone novel.

Once again, totally unique and enjoyable story. I'm really enjoying the D'Angelo family!! I did enjoy this one more than the first book, had a harder time putting it down.

What I liked:

Started off with a bang! Great start, really got sucked in wondering what was happening! Also liked the whole drama of falling for your brothers girlfriend! Yikes, what a predicament! It was interesting learning more about the D'Angelo curse. The end was also fun, unexpected and a good set-up for the next book, which I now can't wait to read. I really enjoyed Lucy and Branwell (a little too insta-lovey for me), but full of lots of swoony moments and chemistry.

What I didn't like:

I would have liked Dante and Tennyson to be in the story more. At times it felt like Branwell was really on his own (aside from his sis) trying to figure things out, and everyone telling him to just basically suffer and be alone. Also felt like sometimes little Grace was on the back burning. Having four kids, if one went missing it would be all I could think about. So more urgency with her disappearance, sometimes felt more focus was on Branwell's abilities then on the missing little girl.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Fun storyline, likable characters and unique world building. Definitely recommend to fans of suspense, romance and a touch of the paranormal!

The first book in the series, Gladly Beyond, was pretty amazing and made my list for favorites of 2016. This second book did not disappoint and I loved it just as much! Full of emotion, heartache, love, and hope, it brings out all the feels and I shed a few tears while reading. I loved the connection between Bran and Lucy, despite both of them thinking they harbored an unrequited love for each other. There are so many fun quirky details that really make their relationship come to life. The paranormal aspect of the plot isn't too over the top and is based in the family's history, so the modern setting wasn't too much of a contrast for the things Lucy and the D'Angelo family are experiencing, perhaps because it's set in Italy. The supernatural gift/curse that the brothers have form a bond between them and the dynamics are complicated and fascinating. I already can't wait to read more!!!

(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

I read it from one day to the next.

I love, love, love the Italian setting, and Firenze, and the other towns, and everything Italian. The author is so lucky to have spent time there. She can truly capture it so well.

This family is growing on me. The brothers and sister, the mother and grandma—they're all awesome.

Now about this story. Branwell and Lucy. So much history between them and a lot of pain in it. For the love of another they give up their love for each other, but then love brings them back together, and I'm glad in the end they find each other again.

This is a paranormal story (not reincarnation like the first one in the series) and a sweeping romance.

Again, looking forward to Chiara and Jack's story. (Tenn needs to go through more stuff, I bet).

Six years. It has been six years since Lucy and Branwell met and fell in love. But theirs is not a happy story. Their story is filled with heartache and pain. You see, their love can never be. There is someone who stands in their way. Tennyson, Branwell's brother and Lucy's ex-boyfriend. Their love is forbidden. No one, including each other, can ever know how deep their feelings run. Branwell is fiercely loyal to Tennyson and Lucy would never dream of coming in between the two brothers.

Locking their feelings up tight, they do what they have to in order to move on and live life the best they can... alone.

But when tragedy strikes and Lucy's niece, Grace, comes up missing, Lucy has no other option but to turn to the D'Angelo's for help. One D'Angelo in particular... Branwell. From the moment she sees him again, she realizes that her feelings for him have only grown stronger. How will she ever be able to walk away from him again? One thing's for sure... she's going to need lots of therapy to get past this blip in the road. But she will do anything and everything she can to bring Grace home alive.

Branwell knew seeing Lucy again would be hard. His love for her is stronger than ever. One look at her and he knows he can never deny her anything. So he will help her find Grace. And when she is home, safe and sound, he will do what he has been doing for the last six years. He will lock his feelings up tighter than ever and go back to just existing without her.

Thrown into a world of unknown, Lucy and Branwell work together to uncover the mystery behind Grace's disappearance. But the closer they get to figuring everything out, the stranger things become. They find themselves fighting against other worldly beings who are out for blood and Branwell seems to be the target.

With danger lurking at the surface, Lucy and Branwell find it harder and harder to keep their feelings for each other hidden. So when disaster strikes again, Lucy breaks and can't keep her feelings for Branwell quiet any longer. One day. They just wants one day to feel normal, to not hide their feelings, to shower each other with all the love in the world. But once they both get a taste of what could be, will one day be enough?

But that one day is shattered in a blink of an eye. With Grace still missing, Tennyson's mental state hanging in the balance, and attacks of the paranormal kind, there is no way they can figure out where they stand.

Will they find Grace before it's too late? Will they be able to uncover the mystery and be able to stop the attacks? And when all is said and done, will Lucy and Branwell be able to find their HEA?

*dreamy sigh*

Oh. My. Gosh! The feels! The feels are most definitely real! My emotions were all over the place while reading this book! I laughed, I yelled, I got teary eyed, I growled in frustration, I let out little dreamy sighs and fell in love right along with Branwell and Lucy. I can't even begin to describe the amazingness of this book! One of my favorite parts of this book are the sour "punny" bears! *giggles* Oh! I can't forget about that epilogue! Love... love... LOVE! And talk about swoony! *dreamy sigh* I had the hardest time putting this book down! I have discovered a love/hate relationship with real life. Haha.

In case you are wondering, Ms. Van has become an instant favorite! I am absolutely loving this series! I can't wait to read the next book! And I am DYING for Tennyson's book! Eeeeeeeek! I hope I don't have to wait too long! Haha.

And my casting... *le sigh* I. Am. In. Love! What do you think?!

I was immediately captivated by this story, and it does stand alone. Each of these Maledetti triplets has a gift (GUT) that adds an interesting paranormal element to the plot and I loved watching their gifts come to light.

Branwell has been in love with his brother's girlfriend, Lucy, for years and although they are no longer together, family comes first. He's extremely loyal and has the self-restraint of a saint, which leads to some fiery chemistry between the two of them when his brother asks him to help Lucy with the disappearance of her niece. The problem is, Lucy feels the same way. Fiery chemistry.

I love the way the story is told. My emotions were yanked around when the story goes from a few years ago to the current time and from Branwell's point of view to Lucy's. It's always clear at the beginning of the chapter when is it and who's speaking, but I'd get so immersed and then have to wait for awhile to get back to that storyline, while immediately being drawn to the chapter at hand and what's going on there. Sometimes this doesn't work, but Ms. Van has a very good grasp on how to keep it all together and how to keep the reader completely engaged. I was held in the clutches of this book from start to finish.

The characters and setting (Italy) are very well done and are vividly imprinted in my mind. I wasn't expecting such a well-done mystery with a perfect balance of suspense, as well as such an entertaining mix of romance, longing, and guilt interspersed throughout. What a pleasant and enjoyable surprise! I already hoping for more.

Content: mild swearing; mild and swoony romance; mild violence.

WOW!!!! That's not sufficient enough for this book but those are my thoughts/feelings after finishing it....WOW!!!!!

I'm sure anyone reading this review can tell from my opening that I absolutely loved it! It was a page turner and hard to put down. There are 47 chapters but many of those were super short. This is book two in the Brother's Maledetti series. The first book was Gladly Beyond. While I enjoyed the first book, I feel that this second book far outshines the first book. Gladly Beyond does a great job setting up the history of these three brothers and their family "curse", it's also Dante's story. You can read my review for it here. If you haven't read the first book I highly recommend reading it before this one, they really do need to be read in order. If you do decide to read them and it's just an okay read for you, stick with it and then read this book because I feel that they're only getting better and better. Love's Shadow is Branwell's story, and we still get to read little tidbits about all three brothers throughout.

I Loved, Loved, Loved how the author wrote the flashbacks in this book. They were timed perfectly with what was happening in the present day and only added to the beauty of the love story.

There is a paranormal aspect to this series, which isn't normally my go to genre but if it's done well I really enjoy it. And this was done well and to my liking!

There's so much that I want to tell you about this book but I don't think I could do it justice and I really don't want to spoil much. We learn a lot more about Tennyson, the mysterious brother from book one. Definitely a lot more about Branwell since this is his book. So far I have to say that Branwell is my favorite. He's just so good. All that he sets aside for his brothers and their well-being. His heart, his desires and his happiness. He's willing to just let it sit heavy in his heart because of his love and concern for all the burdens carried between him and his brother.

Lucy, oh she's a fun and very delightful character to read about...sunshine for sure. I loved everything about her, her personality, her love and zest for life, her understanding about the three brothers and her willingness to set aside everything because of her love for them. She had some awesome shirts with silly phrases on them. I loved them. Sour gummy bears...hahaha. The jokes she cracks the silly things she does to make everyone around her happy even through her heartache and sorrow. She and Branwell are up there on my favorite literary couples list. Lots of great chemistry! They really make this book incredible.

Ok, the storyline is pretty great too, it's not just the characters. I was sucked in from the beginning and felt myself holding my breath as I was turning pages to figure out what was coming next. Lots of twists and some parts that were predictable, and yet with how engrossed I was in the story I didn't even realize that until I got past it and said "ohhhhh". Yet most of the book did not have that predictable feel to it.

How in the world can Lucy find her missing niece when all clues point to something supernatural or paranormal? Well, the D'Angelo brothers of course. Yet Lucy doesn't realize she needs them until Branwell shows up at her brother's apartment, the scene of her niece's mysterious disappearance. Nothing is what it seems and they will need the gift(or curse) of all three brothers to piece together Grace's disappearance. With connections to Lucy's great Uncle and his similar disappearance while living in Italy for an archaeology dig years and years ago, they all know that time is of the essence. Who can they trust? Who must they suspect in knowing what happened? How can Lucy and Branwell keep their love for each other a secret so as not to disrupt the balance of everything?

The ending was awesome. I so did not expect it! Not at all!!!! It left me wanting more and more and more. And guess what????? There are more books coming in this series! Yay! *Happy Dancing ensuing right now-imagine Carlton's dance-yup that's me* Not only do we get Tennyson's story but Chiara's story. Who is she you may ask? The sister to these three amazing brothers. And we get her story next, so Tennyson is just going to have to wait a little bit longer!

Content: some very mild swearing scattered throughout, some swoony kisses, a demon, and some references to a previous suicide attempt. All in all I would say it's a clean read. Probably with some of the content I would recommend for mature YA readers and up.

I received a copy from ebooks, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Debated between giving it 4 and 5 stars. It's probably a 4 1/2. Loved the romantic tension, the conflict and the mystery. Excited for her next one in the series.

Enjoyed this one even more than the first one! Sometimes I felt a little whiplashed between the aching, pining, torturous sweet romance and all the what-is-going on peril and dark themes this delves into. Highlight is definitely our lumberjack Italian who carries this on his broad, plaid-covered shoulders. With his share of the Maledetti curse it’s a literal wonder he can function, let alone pine so self-sacrificingly well. I’ve been enjoying listening to this series, intense and out-of-my-comfort as it is. It’s true crime, paranormal and sweet forbidden love romance with Italy as a backdrop plus outstanding writing all beautifully rolled together.

Content notes: kissing only, vague make-outs, scenes of peril, on page blood, on page mention of darker themes like PTSD and suicide.

It is hard to put this novel and series into one genre. They are clean paranormal suspense mystery thrillers with seemly impossible tragic star crossed romances. For a reader who normally doesn’t read these types of titles I am loving this series and the Maledetti family and Italian setting. I really have enjoyed that Nichole Van has with this series took a tired literary trope of paranormal romance that is normally filled with vampires, shape shifters, and paranormal powered irresponsible adolescents and made something different and fresh that has more intellectual, emotional, and relational depth.

This is the second book in the Brothers Maledetti series. Though it is the second book in the series it can be totally standalone and you as a reader are not left confused or lost. All the wonderful intriguing world building of the Brothers Maledetti of the first novel is explained again and in my opinion as a reader of the first novel, done even a lot better this time of what actually are the Maledetti triplets' gifts are and how they work. In fact there is a suggestive hint that in future titles everything the brothers think they know about the curse may be turned on its proverbial head?

On that same note of being done a lot better, I have to say though I loved the first book in the series Gladly Beyond and rated it 5 stars, Love's Shadow blew the prior novel away and outshone it in all the categories I loved about the first book. I almost feel like going back and downgrading the first one to 4 stars (laughing), but I won’t.

In complete honesty, I really loved the romance between the hero Branwell and heroine Lucy in Love's Shadow better than the hero Dante (Branwell’s identical twin/triplet) and heroine Claire in the first title. Branwell and Lucy are not romantically together and do not let the other know of their feelings of deep love, because of very unselfish reasons, as that is the beautiful people in moral character and heart they both are. Despite that, the romantic EPIC LOVE and CHEMISTRY between these two just being in the same room together was OFF THE CHARTS and BEAUTIFUL TO BEHOLD.

Language: Mild swearing. D*m and d*mnation in their literal religious meaning are scattered through out.

Sensuality: While the first book in the series was sketchy clean, this one is G to PG squeaky clean rated. Kisses and embraces only and unbelievable strong chemistry between the hero and heroine.

Source: Received a free copy from a third party source and no review was required of recipient. Though not required, a review with a honest opinion negative or positive would be helpful to other readers and naturally would be much appreciated. This review is my 100% honest uninfluenced opinion.

This is book 2 in the Brothers Maledetti series. It features Branwell, Dante’s identical twin (from book 1). When he meets Lucy in a café in Portland, it is a lightning strike. Love at first site. He knows she’s the woman he will someday marry…as soon as he gets to know her. His special paranormal gift/curse handed down to first son’s in the Maledetti line is hearing things from the past when he touches things. When he gets Lucy’s card before she leaves, he hears her talking to a boyfriend, and realizes with dread that it is his fraternal twin, Tennyson. Agh! That’s the start of this love triangle. Branwell would never step in and steal his brother’s beloved girlfriend, even if she is all he can think about. Tennyson is fragile, his part of the gift/curse makes him crazy and drives him to the brink of suicide. Lucy is the only light in his otherwise dismal life. Branwell could never take that from him. So for six years, he has distanced himself from Lucy in order not to act on his heart’s desire.

But when Lucy returns to Italy to take care of her niece, and she disappears without a trace (besides a bloody handprint left in her room), Tennyson sends Branwell to help her. He can’t do it himself, as she has broken up with him for good. But still, even with his brother out of the way, Branwell can’t reveal his heart to Lucy…or he might be the wedge that launches his brother into the next life in a tragic suicide. But helping Lucy find her niece, and being so close to her, is sweet torture. Will he survive it?

I love this series. The trio of brothers are incredible. I love the character build up in each book. I feel like I really get to know the characters and come to adore them. They’re real. They’re raw. They’re friends. The plot in this one was crazier than the first book. Different. Sometimes I became confused, but not in a bad way. The characters were just as confused as I was. The author didn’t play favorites. Lucy’s quirky personality was endearing. I loved her like Branwell did. I really love this author’s books! This is my second of hers, and my goal is to read all of them eventually. She really writes great books, with powerful romantic tension that sizzles, but still is clean. Awesome!

This book takes you on quite a rollercoaster of emotions and deals with some harder topics. Some of which could be considered mild spoilers so scroll to the bottom for those.

I feel like with reading as many romance books as I do (around 300 a year) sometimes I just want a breath of fresh air and something different and Nichole always delivers. This series in particular just has so many ideas, stories and themes that just haven't been done as much and I love it! I love that it weaves together history, romantic suspense, and the paranormal world. I love that we get to go on this journey of discovery with this wonderful family!

Branwell and Lucy are absolutely precious together! My heart was instantly on alert knowing it was going to be a love triangle situation but Nichole didn't let me down. More than anything it was more forbidden love and that just kept the tension between then higher than ever!

Lucy truly understood Branwell for who it was but also what he needed. The things she did just for him were the sweetest ever!! (Punny Bears?!? IYKYK)

Branwell’s devotion to his family and Lucy was unmatched. I love his sweet tender heart in a burly strong body.

Seeing them get their happily ever after was just everything!

Physical Intimacy Lvl 2 (Longer Making Out and Closed Door)
Mild Swearing

Triggers: Kidnapping, On page imagery of self harm/suicide attempt though it isn't super graphic there is blood mentioned and definitely feelings of hopelessness. The thread of the possibility of another suicide attempt is a main point in this book. Supernatural beings such as ghosts, “devils” etc.

***4.5 stars***

I didn't realize that this was the second book in a series. I didn't feel lost in the story, but I think I could have benefited by reading this book after the first.

This was a very interesting book. I was pulled in right from the start. It was easy to get caught up in the characters and the plot. The characters are relatable. They are well written and genuinely good people. It was easy to like them.

The book has a paranormal plot. The triplet brothers have psychic abilities that help them with the disappearance of a young girl. They are brought into a paranormal/demonic mystery. It is intriguing to see where Nichole Van takes it and how she describes it. Any way that I try to describe it will not give it justice. It's something that you need to read for yourself.

The romance is sweet. For most of the story the couple are afraid to show or express their feelings because of the history they share. They are afraid of hurting another, so believe that it is best to not reveal their feelings. It is really sweet how they show compassion to each other and the deep friendship between them.

I found the story to be well written. I couldn't have asked for more in the pacing or descriptions. I stayed up past my bedtime to finish the book, even though I knew I had an early morning. I can't say that I regret that decision. It was worth the lack of sleep.

Now, I feel the need to read the first book. I want to know more about the triplets and their abilities.

It's a forbidden love that keeps Branwell and Lucy apart for many years. Lucy was dating Branwell's brother but when he proposed Lucy couldn't accept and broke the relationship off. She was in love with Branwell. Branwell loved Lucy the moment they met but neither knew how the other felt.

Lucy needs the D'Angelo brothers help to find her niece that just up and disappeared. They have a passed down paranormal gift. They are triplets and the gift/curse split between the three. Now the gift is morphing into more as they get older. Branwell touches things and hears things. But since being near Lucy he starts to smell and see as well. He keeps his body covered including his hands to avoid hearing things. The book is complicated for him and there is much he has to do daily to prepare himself so as to not hear so much. It sounds like a sad life. But Lucy is definitely Branwell's match. She is quirky and always optomistic. She is always empathetic and Branwell is an empath.

At times, the story is dark. And others it is very light. It's a good mix!

The story grabs you but it took me a while to understand everything as there is a lot of history, ancient religion, artifacts and stuff I know nothing about!

I am looking forward to reading the other siblings' books as well!

If you like history, forbidden love, finding real love, ancient things, family than this might be for you.

Contents: thoughts of suicide, some mild swearing.

2.75⭐️ but in all good conscience, I can't round this story to three. Up until Love’s Shadow, Nichole Van’s books were akin to devouring decadent pastries. If it weren’t for the first book in the series, I would have DNF'd this one. I had a completely miserable time reaching 89% and then when it improved, I enjoyed my reading journey until the 93% mark. After that the story turned nauseatingly sweet like a Twinkie. Still, that 4% did wonders for my mood.

Unfortunately, the story hit several tropes and a narrative device I dislike:
⚠️Foremost, the book's description included, Thrown together in a desperate bid to save an innocent life... If it had been more specific, I would have skipped to book 3. It was too triggering.
⚠️Forbidden love.
⚠️Branwell and Lucy's instalove felt juvenile. I didn't feel any genuine chemistry.
⚠️Darker story than I prefer. Reading is my shelter from current events.
⚠️Bran's gift/curse was overcomplicated. His workarounds didn't always make sense. (elaborately embroidered runes around cuffs? Why not one stitch? Why not a discreet ink stain or a drop of fabric glue? Will there be a callback in future books that necessitates the symbols?)
💤Flashbacks. Not a fan. Most were unnecessary and broke the momentum.

This book really did suck me in. I enjoyed that it was different then anything I had read for a while. He had a lot of fantasy type elements which surprised me since I didn’t read the first book in this series. It wasn’t my “perfect” book but I still enjoyed it and the romance.

Probably my least favorite Nicole Van to date. Just didn’t hit right for me. Arcane, supernatural storyline with a lot of stops and starts with characters hard to keep straight because there are merely snippets of conversation to help us understand them, a really tortured brother, preoccupation with romantic love in the middle of the twin crises of a disappeared child and a suicidal family member, choppy chapters of backstory…it was a lot. I don’t really find either Lucy or Branwell as adorable as they find each other. Punny gummies were pretty clever.

But it’s Nicole Van. So I’m sure I’ll read the sequels. I hope they scale back the paranormal a bit.

I never like a second book more then the first. This author has done something very few can do, make an awesome second book. I enjoyed and ate up this book. I love the way the men in this family love. Wow. What a completely different idea and story line then the first book. I have already preordered the third. I am excited to see how this series plays out and I want more of this family. These are clean well written romance paranormal books.

This book was recommended by I don't remember who, but I have no idea why it has such a high rating. The whole concept of the supernatural powers was so far-fetched and ever-evolving, in weird and confusing ways. And the lack of focus on the missing girl was very concerning!!

This book was just weird. That is all.

Poor Branwell!!! Story of a hopeless love story doomed from the beginning. I actually liked how Nichole Van jumped from past to present throughout the story. It made me feel like I was in on a secret vantage point that nobody else knew (except Branwell and Lucy, that is). Was totally cheering for this to all work out. Great read (once again, wish there wasn't the language though). I really found myself wanting to go buy some T-shirts with funny sayings on them. They made me giggle.

Just as great as the first book!

I always worry that the sequel to any book in a series will not be nearly as great as the first. I adored Dante and Claire’s story in the first book, Gladly Beyond, and couldn’t wait to read this next one. It was simply fantastic! I loved the flow and buildup of the plot, the mystery and mix of paranormal, and the romance was achingly tender. Still coming off a book hangover from this one, and yet I’m already itching to dive back into this world with the next in the series. Well done!!

Love's Shadow (Brothers Maledetti #2) - PG13
Violence: moments of peril
Language: fewer than 30
Sex: no sex

Let me preface this by saying paranormal is NOT my jam, but I am so hooked on these enigmatic brothers and their "GUTs" I can't stop reading. I love the red herrings thrown throughout the book. They make it even more fun to try to figure out what's happening.

I received this ebook through ebooksforreview.

This is the second book in the Brothers Maledetti series and what a fascinating sequel to Gladly Beyond!
I loved getting to know Brandwell better. Each brother is so different and with his own distinct GUT. I also appreciated seeing more of Tennyson.

The story was more intense than in the first novel. First, Lucy's niece disappear and then there's all this GUT morphing and strange things happening... I just couldn't stop reading.
This one is also heavier on the emotional side. This impossible love left me feeling bad for both Brandwell, Lucy and Tennyson on multiple occasion throughout the book.

Now I'm excited about the next one in the series, centered on Chiara.
For anyone who is considering reading this series, I highly recommend it, but read it in order. Though they can be read as stand alone, the experience is better when read in order.

This one is definitely my favorite of the series so far. Things were maybe a little too easy at the end, but I’m willing to overlook that.

This is one of those reviews that were due last week. Finally, I am able to slowly catch up with my overdue reviews. It was sad to not be able to do my book reviews and post on Instagram. I hope I won't get the flu ever and the laptop would not go crazy again. Well, it's still with the technician so it still to be determined. I am using the other laptop which is painstakingly slow compared to the other one. Better than no computer at all.

Love's Shadow is a very good surprise. I am so in love with the very unique story and the D' Angelo brothers. I was so caught up in the twist, the history and the landscape. Who would not fall in love with the picturesque Italy? Its name alone makes me want for mouth-watering gelato, hand-made pasta and authentic Italian pizza.

This book felt like a cross between a Steve Berry and a Clive Cussler. Yes, two of my favorite mystery and historical fiction writers. This story just had the complete ingredients of what I so love. History, archaeology, old legends, magic, powers and a love story that promises an unhappy ending. All these elements thrown in, mix well then stir and you will surely end up engrossed and unable to let go until the end. And the best thing? I just realized that this story is part of a series so I could have a few more helpings of this delightful and talented author. This is my first of Nichole Van and I am so impressed. You know what this means? I will be hunting for her other stories because I just can't get over the pleasure of having found this story and this amazing author.

Are you the type of reader who likes to guess what the story is just by looking at the title? I am one. It's not an exact science. Often I feel disappointed to not figure out why the story is entitled as such after reading it. And what an exhilaration it is to be able to grasp and understand why the title fits the story. For this story, I had no idea why it's called Love's Shadow. I don't have any theories. But after reading it, I totally get why the author called this one as it is and I totally agree with it. I book no arguments or any comments. I think the title is very curious. Just as curious as the story is.

This is without a doubt one of the best stories I have read this 2017. Stories like these are what I would die for. The marriage of the past and current events in this story was perfect. How the past events were connected to the present time in this story was seamlessly done. I just loved it.

No questions asked, I give this book 5/5 pairs of leather gloves. It is just perfect for me. It fits like a glove. Nice to meet you Nichole Van. Looking forward to the next stories in the series.

Why did it have to be this man? Of all the men on Planet Earth? Literally, the one person who would be utterly off limits? Figured I would fall prey to some demented god who got off on cruel ironies.

I was excited to read this book since I've loved the other book I read by this author. I picked it up to read on a day I was off work sick. This was a good idea since it was a hard book to put down. Reading it helped take my mind off how I was feeling. I loved the page design. I found the magic in this book very interesting. And this book has excellent characters and a fabulous story. Already, two days later, I want to go back and reread my favorite parts of the book. I also want to read the first book in the series and look forward to reading others in the series when they come out.

It took me a little bit to get into this story, but then I didn't want to put it down! Branwell D'Angelo met Lucy six years ago when she was dating his brother, Tennyson. Even though Branwell fell in love with her right away (before he knew she was his brother's girlfriend), he knew he would always choose his brother's life over Lucy's love. For six years he has loved Lucy and watched her with his brother, and then watched her break his brother's heart when she walked away... all while his own heart was breaking because he knew he could never be with her.

Six years later when Lucy's young niece Grace has mysteriously disappeared while Lucy was babysitting her, she needs Branwell and his "talents" to discover what happened to her niece. Branwell's "talents" are morphing and he has a lot of questions... and a demon may be trying to kill him. He needs Lucy as much as she needs him - he needs her perpetual optimism and her help to figure out what is going on.

This story alternated between Branwell's and Lucy's points of view; I like that we got both of their perspectives. We also have a lot of flashbacks to 6 years ago, 5 years ago, and 2 years ago to learn more about their history. I am not usually a fan of paranormal, but I am really liking this series and I look forward to Chiara's and Tennyson's stories coming out later this year.

Wow, this is the first book I've read by Nichole Van. I have no idea why I've never read her books before, but I can guarantee that it won't be the last. I loved this book, it was amazing!

I loved the way it has both flashbacks and current day parts. It was helpful to be able to know the background story between Lucy and Branwell and Tennyson.

When Branwell first met Lucy, six years before, it was love at first sight...and then he realized that she was his triplet brother Tennyson's new girlfriend. Bubble burst. Flash forward six years and Lucy needs Branwell's supernatural abilities to help her find out just what happened to her niece. She's in Italy, staying in her brother and his wife's apartment and her young niece, Grace, simply disappears. There are no leads and no way to find out what had happened to her.

Luckily Branwell has a special ability. He's able to touch objects and "see" what has happened around that object. But it's not as easy as it sounds for him to figure out what has happened to her either. It takes work, patience and the abilities of all three of the brothers to figure out what's happened and find Grace.

This is such a great book! It's the second book in a series, I'm going to have to find the first book and read that one next, but you can read it in any order. It stands alone really well. I liked that it's clean, there were a few mild swear words in it, but that's all.
