Jace Daniels is undeniably sexy. I mean who doesn’t like the muscular, tattooed type who’s all mysterious and brooding? But he’s on the run from something dangerous, and I have enough of my own problems. My existence has revolved around deception for as long as I can remember. Sometimes lying is like a damn disease...one I’ve been exposed to since birth. And as many times as I’ve dreamed about running away, my mother’s grasp on me runs deep.Phoebe Carson is hot as hell. She’s not just gorgeous, but quirky and a lot of fun. Even though I can’t afford to get involved with anyone, I feel a need to protect her from her psychotic ex. After a failed attempt to expose the truth about a fellow Marine’s disappearance, running was my only option. I don’t know how much time I have until they’ll arrest me, but I’m determined to make things right. When their paths collide, neither of them can walk away from the explosive passion. But once the truth unravels, proving it’s more than fate that brought them together, will Jace still decide she’s worth fighting for? So this book started out a bit rough for me. I didn't like the heroine much. I guess I was supposed to think she was strong? But really she just reeked of desperation to me. Especially when she was practically begging Jace to have sex with her.

That said as the book progressed I started to warm up to her and was getting drawn into the story more and more. The writing was decent and the plot had a nice pace to it. Jace and Phoebe were a likable couple and I was rooting for them. Then came the twist and I went from liking Phoebe to feeling like this...

description

AND just like that, I was D-O-N-E. Way to ruin any good feelings I had developed for Phoebe. That twist dropped this down a whole star. I really with all my heart wished that Jace would move on with his life and find a good heroine. I'm sorry, but having a bad childhood doesn't excuse you from being a decent human being. Phoebe wasn't strong in my opinion she was WEAK. She was a LIAR. She didn't deserve Jace or a HEA. She deserved to be in jail.

I'm slow clapping for you Jennifer Ann. Then I'm looking around wondering why I haven't jumped on your other books. I'll fix that as soon as I profess my undying love for Jace Daniels.

Phoebe was not a good girl but she had a good heart. She has accepted her fate and goes along with her life. With a mother who really should be left to the wolves with steaks strapped to her body and a string of bad boyfriends including Decker. A grade A tool. While out one night Phoebe meets Jace as he stands up to Decker and quickly gets engulfed in her issues and his own. Jace is a man on the run. Seeking answers to a nagging question. He's not looking for anyone to complicate his life anymore. Together they navigate life and this big mess they are in. They learn fate just may be real.

This book was very good. Full of drama and action and some very steamy sexy times. At times it seemed the drama was a bit much and I just wanted them to get their mess together. I really enjoyed this book and have another book boyfriend on my list. Good job Jennifer Ann

This was my first read from the author and she has a new fan. I enjoyed reading Phoebe and Jace's story.

My heart broke for Phoebe throughout the book, but what a complex and strong character she is.

I highly recommend Fighting for Phoebe....now to pass the time until the next book.

Lawd save me from unbearably bad sex scenes. There were a number of things that were weird editing and the writing was stiff, esp dialogue, but I was willing to give it a fair shot to get better. Until the words "don't be afraid to bite it off" appeared in the midst of an already bad sex scene. I tried to move on but good god how do you stop thinking about that?! 😬

I love a good fighter!

This was a great story with a twisted maze of truth and lies that had me glued to my couch until I finished reading it! Great characters and the storyline kept me guessing and going until the last page was turned! Loved the dynamics between Phoebe and Jace.

This is the first time I read something of Jennifer Ann. And this reading turned out to be utterly amazing! The characters were so likeable and unique! And the plot was such a roller-coaster! So many feelings and thoughts during the whole book! It was pretty fantastic! And that ending! O-M-G!

Jace Daniels is a marine who's running away from something that may put him in jail! He's that kind of guy all muscular and with some ink here and there! I mean, who wouldn't find him pretty attractive? But Jace's hiding something dark and he doesn't want to put anyone in dangerous because of some things he had done. One night, he stopped at a bar for some reason and with him he only has got a bag with some stuff and his bike. And then, there's Phoebe!

She's a petit girl, who has always been mistreated her whole life. Her ex boyfriend is a bad guy but never takes the blame because his father's the sheriff. Her mother is not a good person also. She's as a scheme through which she gets money from rich man. But to do that, Phoebe has to do pretty disgusting/revolting stuff.

In spite of needing to run away from what's chasing him, Jace decides to stay and help Phoebe mostly with her ex malicious boyfriend. But things don't end here. Jace also tries to get Phoebe away from her mother. But Phoebe's a prisoner. Or she thought she was! She may not know Jace for a long time, but she trusts him right away! And according to her feelings, he might mean something more to her! Their connection gets pretty physical and the sexual tension is enormous! But there's something else, something stronger than that tension!

Jace's past keeps chasing him and he might have to deal with it instead of running away! Towards the end, we learn that Jace's past and Phoebe are connected somehow! And it might not be easy to accept! Because, Phoebe may be hiding something and Jace may be believing something that's not true!

The amount of suspense and romance in this book is a big deal! There's a right equilibrium between both of them and the result was fantastic! I read this book in less that 5 hours and I regret nothing! This reading was full of mind-blowing plot twists and that ending was something I was not expecting at all!

Although this was a great reading, I'm sad to know that this is a stand alone book. I just couldn't get enough of Phoebe and Jace and now there's nothing else to read! I guess I have "end-of-book depression"!

**** 4.5 Cranky Stars ****

I'm swooning over Jace Daniels. Full on case of the vapors like a true southern belle. He gets bumped to the top of the book boyfriend list.

Phoebe was caught up in a web her mother weaved. She has accepted her fate and realized its best to just go with what her mother wants instead of facing the consequences. She's fresh off a breakup from Decker a full blown jerk with a shady life.

Jace and Phoebe meet one night when Jace plays hero saving Phoebe from Deckers clutches.

Jace is a Marine on the run. Seeking answers to questions he should leave well enough alone. He's not looking for anyone to complicate his life anymore. Together they navigate life and this big mess they are in. They learn fate just may be real.

This book was very good. Full of drama and action and some very steamy sexy times. Jennifer Ann can definitely write a mystery. She had me guessing to the very end. Which is hard to do because I can usually figure them out right away. While at times it seemed the drama was a bit much and Phoebe had her annoying moments the book as a whole was very good. I can't wait for future stories from this lovely lady.

I've been wanting to read one of Jennifer's books for a while and I finally took the plunge with Fighting for Phoebe and all I can say is WOW. I will be reading more from this author in the near future. There are so many elements and surprises in this book that at times it will feel like you have whiplash.

Jennifer Ann gives you a story full of angst, mystery, suspense, secrets, betrayal, and last but not least Romance.

Jace is on the run and for at least half of this book you do not know half of his story (which is what kept me wanting more as I read) Coming to this little Podunk town with only one mission in mind. finding the family of a buddy of his. Phoebe is a troubled woman with people in her past and present who control her in every aspect of her life. even at the age of 24 she still follows every command and order her mother gives her.

Can Jace be her saving grace or will he walk away from her like almost every other man in her life.

This book had my heart pounding as well as me gasping out loud in quite a few places.
This is one of those books that you will seriously be picking your jaw up off the floor due to some of the things that happen.

There is nothing that i didn't love about this book.. so what are you waiting for? Stop reading my review and go buy a copy yourself and start reading.

4.5 Amazing Stars! Jace is trying to find the family of a military friend who was killed and fears something funny was going on. Jace rescues Phoebe from her ex-boyfriend and he is instantly attracted to her her. Phoebe has secrets especially in regards to her mother but she falls hard for Jace. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book because I needed to know more. The book was full of suspense, mystery and romance. The characters had great chemistry and I really like them. This is my first book by Jennifer Ann and it most certainly won’t be my last. I enjoyed the chemistry between tatted up military hunk Jace who comes to town trying to find info about a fellow Marine’s disappearance, only to come to the rescue like a white knight to Phoebe Carson’s side from her crazy ex.

But he doesn’t plan on staying in town, and she has a boatload of secrets. She also has a mother that’s vaguely remenicent of some Disney villians. But overall, this was an incredible read, and I can’t wait to read more of her books!

I generously received this ARC from Xpresso Book Tours Review Opportunity in exchange for an honest review!

My Phoebe Carson:

f32f3505481eeaf805ee42590a429924

Words cannot begin to describe just how much I absolutely adored this extraordinary book. I started this book on December 31 and finished it after ringing in the New Year! Fighting For Phoebe (Fallen Heroes #1) by Jennifer Ann follows the story of Phoebe Carson, a young women forever trapped under her mother's thumb who is forced to join in on her conning ways and Jace Daniels, a marine on the run looking for justice for his friend Bugsy who went MIA. Finding Bugsy's family and informing them what really happened that fateful night is Jace's number one priority even if it means staying on the run. What he didn't expect was meeting Phoebe in a bar his first night in Chesterville (Bugsy's hometown).

My Jace Daniels:

gif

This was an action packed story filled with suspense, adventure and drama. Phoebe and Jace's relationship is quickly developed, perhaps a little too fast for some. However, I thought that the fast-paced relationship only added to this intensive story. There were countless twists and turns throughout this entire book that left me wanting to turn to the next page. I don't want to give away too much to the readers, but I will tell you that every new twist adds to the story's overall plot. Although this is technically a standalone novel I can't wait until the next book in the series is released if it follows along the lines of this one! :)

This was a first Jennifer Ann book for me, but certainly not my last! She is amazing! This story was filled with hot passion, serious edge of the seat suspense and drama. It's a standalone book that will have you completely hooked to one of the main characters, Jace.

Phoebe has the looks every women wants, the attitude men love and she is also extremely quirky! Phoebe comes with so emotional and physical baggage. She had a crazy ex boyfriend that really did some severe damage to her. She has a hard time trusting and opening up to people.

Jace is an all alpha military man, tatted up with muscles for miles. He put the S in SEXY! He is looking for a military buddy's family to find out information to help solve the mystery behind his death.

Phoebe and Jace meet by chance when she is fighting me with her ex boyfriend. Jace happens to be one of those guys that sees danger and wants to protect the one being hurt. Phoebe tries to avoid him because she is dealing with so many secrets and baggage alone, that she doesn't want to dump it in him. Jace is there to find a Marine buddy's family and gather more information about his death. He fears that the higher levels of the miliary are hiding it. Once the two of them realize their chemistry is off the charts HOT, their passion can lead to so much more!

Does Jace get the information he is looking for? Or does it cause more problems for him? Can Phoebe truly open her heart to Jace? Do they have a happily ever after or do they go their separate ways?

This book was truly outstanding! With every turn of the page, I simply couldn't put it down! You will fall in love with Jace. I highly recommend this book!

Jace Daniels is a sexy, tattooed soldier with a mysterious vibe that makes him all the more attractive. He's on the run but ends up wanting nothing more than to stay in the arms of the woman he never meant to fall in love with.

Phoebe Carson's life has been anything but ideal. Her childhood was full of cons that her mother made her and her brother run with her. Now shes trapped alone with her mother holding her past over her head. Her brother up and left without her, she has nothing and no one save for one close friend. Then in walks the brooding, tatted up military man Jace Daniels who sweeps her off her feet.
Can she open up to him about her past ? her life? will he still want her if he knows her secrets? Phoebe soon finds out that Jace has his own secrets that could destroy them both.

I really liked this book it was full of suspense and kept my attention throughout. Jace and Phoebe have an undeniable chemistry that draws you in. There were twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved the story from beginning to end.

Jace's military friends that show up have their own books as well Theo and Nolan I plan to go back and read those as well. You do not have to read them first to follow this book.

If you like your romance with heart stopping suspense this is a great one to check out and you get a hot military guy too.

Gifted an copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Wow…I…Can’t. I just can’t right now. Intense, sexy book right here.

Jace is in town looking for the family of one of his Marine buddies but instead finds herself needing to protect somebody he laid eyes on once. Phoebe has a lurid past that she has been trying to get away from. When these two collide and fall for each other everything falls into hell in a handbag. There are intense fights and arguments. There are some hot and steamy sex scenes. But can these two truly save each other? Will they want to be together once they find out the truth about their pasts? Will they both survive the things thrown their way in the end?

I honestly couldn’t find a single issue with this book. It was a flawless book with an excellently executed writing style. I absolutely loved the characters and I felt like I belonged in these peoples world. I fell in love with Jace and Kody from the first description. I felt like every turn of the page had a new twist. So intense and just plain awesome.

I can’t wait to find more books by this author because wow! I could gush and gush for hours and still not have the right words to truly do this book justice. Just wow!

5 stars!

Yowza! If you're looking for an action packed thrill ride this is one to read. I felt like I was in a movie. I loved the main 2 characters and all though they had many obstacles to over come I rooted for them all the way.

If I ever wanted a guy to sweep me off my feet from all of Jennifer's books Jace would be that guy. The way he fights for Phoebe even after everything he goes through is a fierce loyalty that I love about him. Let's not forget how he looks or that dirty mouth of his. Phoebe is one lucky lady. Phoebe is just adorable and my heart really went out to her after everything she has been through her whole life. She doesn't believe she deserves a man like Jace but she really does. Oh and we get a cameo from another very memorable character from Jennifer's books that I was very happy to see. He's another one of my favorites.

The writing was great, chemistry was off the charts, the story was action packed with some twists thrown in. It was dark but not too dark that would turn readers away. All in all this was a great book. One of my favorites and I probably always say that but honestly her books just keep getting better and better.

Fighting for Phoebe is Jennifer Ann's first stand alone and it doesn't disappoint. If you're already a Jennifer Ann fan like myself, you will love Jace and Phoebe just as much as you did the Kendall family characters or the NYC Love series. If you are new to Jennifer Ann, prepare to fall in love not only with her ability to tell an incredible story through her words, but to love her characters as if they were your own family and friends. Fighting for Phoebe has a a good mix of things going on...you have the romance obviously, but you also have more suspense in this book than in her previous ones in my opinion, which is done remarkably well. When I first started reading it I wasn't sure I was going to like this one as well as her others, but by the time I got half way through I was sold and completely hooked. Talk about edge of your seat, don't want to put it down because you have to know what happens suspense! I highly recommend Fighting for Phoebe not only to current Jennifer Ann fans but to everyone who likes a good romance/suspense book!

Jace comes to town looking for the family of a military buddy Bugsy. Something went down overseas and Bugsy was killed. Jace has put a lot on the line so Bugsy's family can know the truth about what happened there. He didn't mean to get mixed up in Phoebes mess when he came to town but it happened. Phoebe is insanely attracted to Jace and just wants one night with him but when Jace becomes entangled in her mess he stays a little longer than expected. Phoebe doesn't need to get him involved but cant resist Jace.

This book turned out a lot different than I expected. I knew Phoebe had secrets but she had a lot of SECRETS! I was surprised about all the things that came out of the woodwork. I liked Phoebe but I kinda wanted her to get her life straight. She let a lot of people control her actions. Jace was a really decent guy. He was the best person in the book. I liked them as a couple. I must say the resolution to the conflict was very realistic in my eyes and I liked that. I would definitely recommend this book. 3.5 stars

This is my first Jennifer Ann novel and I really enjoyed it! Let's start from the beginning. At first I was really curious on how the story was going to go.The author left the reader with a lot of questions, which were answered as the story went on. I'm one to try and predict how a story is going to unravel, and the author did a good job on keeping it a secret.

This was an instant love story between Pheobe and Jace but I had a hard time feeling that instant connection. There was just something missing for me. As the story progressed, I was able to feel that connection. The author gave us a lot of twists and turns and surprises that I really enjoyed. Towards the end of the story there were so many jaw dropping moments, I would never have guessed! The author did an amazing job with the surprises and they just kept coming!

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. The suspense and mystery of the story was on point. I thought it was well written and had very interesting characters. Pick this one up, I don't think you will be disappointed!

This is my first time reading this author, but what a great story she created! The second half of this story was a real nail biter with some verbal remarks ( apperently screaming at your kindle is weird)! There were a few twists and turns even I wasn't expecting! Where this author got her inspiration, I don't know but what a unique story! The first half of this book was really slow, and I almost didn't finish, but the end was completely worth it! I would have liked a little less unnecessary details and a more to the point of what's happening around the main characters! I actually would like to read about some of the background characters mentioned toward the end of this story!

3.5*/4* read.

This was the first time I've read anything by this author and I'm torn between my star ratings so I've put both.

There was a few twists I never expected and a lot of suspense and drama added too that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The reason I struggled slightly with how to rate this was that I didn't connect as much with the characters as I would have liked, but I still loved their story and the writing style pulled me in. The chemistry between them was smoking and I enjoyed watching their relationship deveop.

First book by this author but not my last.

They just keep getting better! Fighting For Phoebe has it all, suspense, drama, sizzling hot sex scenes, and everything else you want in a book. Phoebe meets Jace at a bar one night that leads to a wild ride together. They both have issues they need to deal with. Can they work through them together? The chemistry between Jace and Phoebe is hot. This is defiantly a must read. You also have to read The Kendall Family Series by Jennifer Ann. Great job!!

Who doesn't love a good military book? With all the suspense, twists and turns along the way, you are not going to want to the book down. All the characters are written well, even the douche bag ones. Jace and Phoebe have great chemistry, just the right kind of "dirty" I love to read.

This is the first book I read from Jennifer Ann and have enjoyed her writing. I highly recommend Fighting for Phoebe! I'm going to go back and read her other books.

Here's the problem I have with Jennifer Ann's writing. It is so damn good I literally burn through her books and then am forced -read that as can't wait to- read them again and again.

Fighting For Phoebe is another example of how amazing her writing is. Please may I get a ticket for a train ride through your brain?

Oh Phoebe and Jace...your action packed, lusty story is one I won't forget for a while.

Phoebe and Jace meet under crazy circumstances...he is defending her from a crazy ass ex boyfriend. They have an instant attraction, but he is on a mission and struggles with whether or not he should set aside his mission for one night and take her home or forget her all together.

Wanting to keep Phoebe from danger, he goes home with her for one night...which changes his mission from then on.

As far as crazy lives goes, Phoebe has it in spades. Will this love last through all the twists and turns? Or will Phoebe be stuck in nowhereville, stagnant in the life she currently leads?

Seriously, PEOPLE. Put it on your TBR shelf. You will NOT be disappointed!

Jennifer Ann’s Fighting for Phoebe is easily one of my top reads of the year.

This novel has so many elements that create a complicated, incredibly entertaining story that will leave you breathless.

Ms. Ann has managed to weave a tapestry of suspense, mystery, action and heart-stopping romance that will keep you riveted and thoroughly enthralled until you have consumed every last word of this compelling, thought-proving read.

Fighting for Phoebe is the story of Jace Daniels, a marine who is investigating the circumstances surrounding a friend’s sudden death overseas. He fears that there has been a conspiracy that has trickled down from the highest ranks of the military and he is determined to ferret out the truth, regardless to the risk that it poses to his career in the Marines. Fearing for his personal safety and hoping to avoid becoming a target himself before he can notify his friend's family, he goes on the run.

Along the way he encounters Phoebe Carson, a troubled young woman with a heart-breaking past and controlling, borderline abusive mother who has found herself in an unfortunate situation involving domestic violence. Jace rescues her from an altercation with her violent, mentally disturbed ex and the two embark on an incredible journey as they both seek to escape from their own set of demons.

Jace and Phoebe’s chemistry was on fire from the jump; Jace instantly notices Phoebe’s beauty and Phoebe cannot help but appreciate Jace’s tatted, muscular physique and his sexy, attractive nature. They are drawn to each other and eventually act on their attraction. It is hot, it is steamy and their passion practically lept from the pages!!

My heart pounded and my eyes widened while I was reading. At several points my jaw dropped in shock at some of the surprising revelations that are revealed, particularly towards the end of the novel as Jace and Phoebe discover some unsettling truths and ultimately solve the mystery that brought them together in the first place.

Secrets were exposed that left me rattled, astonished and just plain amazed. It is a true testament to the author’s fabulous story-telling ability that I never saw these eye-opening events coming, and when the literal **** hit the fan I was blown away. Quite frankly it made me want to immediately start the book over again just so that I could try to pin-point any potential clues that I had missed!

Jennifer Ann is an unbelievably talented writer. Fighting for Phoebe was my first experience with her work and if this novel is any indication of what I can hope to experience when I read more of her writing then I will be there with bells on to purchase more of her intoxicating tales of romance, passion and intrigue.

Make no mistake about it; Fighting for Phoebe is a rich adventure filled with characters that you will fall in love with!

Sexy military hero? Check!

Adorable, strong yet quirky heroine? Check!

Villains that will make you want to slap them silly? Check!

Fighting for Phoebe is a story about vindication, redemption and more importantly, finding love when you least expect it.

There is nothing not to love about this book!

Read it!!!

That is this bookworms’ final word.

Overall: 5/5 brilliant stars!

Heat: 5/5 because the sex scenes are on fire!!!

Fighting for Phoebe is my first book by Jennifer Ann and now I hope to be a reader of her other books. This story is a standalone featuring one hot, sexy Marine Jace and tough, no nonsense Phoebe. They both have their share of troubled pasts which trickled into their present with many upheavals and battles to be fought. They met by "fate" one night in a bar and this is where their roller coaster of an adventure begins.

This was an adventurous story full of suspense, drama, action packed and yes some down right hot sex involved....who wouldn't like the "gorgeous", tattooed Jace. Jace and Phoebe's relationship quickly developed to the point where it was almost "too quick" and because of that I had a bit of trouble connecting to the characters. They grew on me as the story progressed especially how Jace fought for Phoebe through all her escapades. It started off a bit slow in a sense and I almost found myself wondering where this was going. The second half of the book really picked up full of intrigue, twists and surprises but most of all revelations were made to allow us to understand the premise of the story.

Overall it was an exciting experience into the unknown territory of Jace and Phoebe. I enjoyed how we saw the characters develop with each other, for each other and on their own. I give the author credit for her unique writing style that made this story worth reading right until the end and wow what an ending it was!!!

I got this book from Xpresso Book Tours through the review opportunity.

Life has always been miserable for Phoebe. Her mother controlled her life and made her to do things that she didn't want to do. Her brother, who gave her hopes of breaking free, left her too. Add on is her ex boyfriend who is another brute. Then one night at a bar she meets a stranger, Jace, who fought for her with her ex boyfriend to save her. He is on a mission in her town, he is on run and does not want to involve with anyone. But soon he falls for Phoebe, and she realises that Jace is the best thing that ever happened to her.

Jace was like a ray of hope in this miserable life of hers. He loved her despite of her past and gave her courage to break out. He understood her even when she tried to push him away, he made her see that everyone is not same and he is not going to leave her whatever trouble might rise.

Phoebe’s vulnerable yet strong character made a way to my heart. All the things Jace did for Phoebe, to help her, to protect her made him undeniably a quite charming character. I also liked Kory, Phoebe’s friend, who was always ready to help her.

Fighting for Phoebe is a beautiful love story with a bit of suspense here and there. The suspense was definitely a plus point and kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is quite unpredictable at parts and the twist, towards the end of the book was unquestionably the cherry on the top for this novel. Another plus point was those sex scenes which were sinfully sexy and well described, making this book a treat for erotic lovers.

I don’t really have any complaints about this novel. But I would like to say that I didn’t like one of the fight sequences, because it kind of felt mechanical and hence lacked the needed thrill. Jace and Phoebe’s repeated efforts to keep each other out of their respective problems, to some extent, irritated me a bit.

Overall Fighting for Phoebe is a nice love story, at times cute and heart warming and other times sad and heartbreaking.  I would absolutely recommend it to all romance lovers.

description
Jace Daniels and Phoebe Carson meet under unusual circumstances. After a fellow Marine disappears, and Jace's attempt of finding out what happened to him fails, he's off to let the family of his friend know what's happened before he is arrested. Stopping in a bar looking for information, he sees Phoebe, who's having problems with her abusive ex. Set out to protect this woman he's drawn to, he goes home with her for the night to make sure she stays safe. Neither can deny the insane attraction between them but danger and secrets are around every corner.
Jace is an honorable man trying to do the right thing by his friend. He believes he was killed during a mission and just wants to let his family know. He struggles with the decision to stick around and help this gorgeous, quirky woman with the troubles she faces between her ex and her mother, and leaving to continue his mission before it's too late. I love that he was strong enough for the both of them, and the heat and passion between the pair was tangible.
Phoebe has lead a life of deception from the time she was little. What can you do when it's all you know? She knows what she does is wrong, but she's kept where she is by fear and threats. This family is about as twisted as they come. I felt for her and how she grew up and everything she had to endure at the hand of her mother, brother and her ex. What she needs is Jace's extreme loyalty and dirty talking mouth!
This is my first Jennifer Ann book. She definitely knows how to do action, adventure and danger. The chemistry between Jace and Phoebe was scorching. The mystery and danger kept the book moving and I didn't have a bored moment reading this.

4.5 Stars..

Phoebe and Jace's story gave me few shocking twist I never saw coming.

When Jace resuces Phoebe from an ex boyfriend the last thing he plans to do is get mixed up with her. He is just passing through town looking for the family of a military friend whom he believes has been killed and fear something shady is going on with the higher ups in military. But he cannot deny the instant attraction he feels towards her.

Phoebe has a mountian of secrets and she is not the good girl he thinks her to be. He mother controls her and she has accepted her fate or she will have to pay the price and it's just not worth it to her. But when Jace rolls into town she finds herself wishing for a different kind of life but no way to make it happen. Is there a happy ever after for these two, or will Phoebe's secrets and deception ruin everything.

This was a great read. I enjoyed the many twist and turns this story takes you on.

Favorite Quote:
The goodbye I prepared while in the shower gets lodged in my throat, replaced by a need to kiss her parted lips one last time and give her something phenomenal to remember me by. When I slip a hand behind her head and bring her closer, prepared to do just that, she slaps her fingers around my forearm and pleads in a breathy voice, "Don't."

My heart stops. Did I push her too hard? Bringing my other hand up to cradle her jaw, I run my thumb along its sharp edge. "Don't kiss you, or don't leave?"

With a quiet groan, her eyes close. "Don't give me another reason to miss you next time I'm with a man who treats me like shit."

My heart splinters into a thousand pieces with her words.
