Kelsey McDade realizes that her love life is one and done. Her last—and only—relationship left her broken and afraid and more than ready to be alone for the long haul. But sexy-charming vineyard manager Luke Westcott pushes all of her buttons in the right way and makes her wonder if she ought to try again.

In nearly twenty-eight years, Luke’s most successful romance has been with the outdoors. Currently single, he’s happy to pour all of his energy into his new winery until Kelsey provokes feelings he didn’t know he was capable of. He can envision their future together—if she’ll let down her guard.

When the ghost of Kelsey’s past causes her to slam on the brakes, Luke is ready to fight for her, even if it means sacrificing himself in the process. Convinced she’s only made wrong choices in the past, Kelsey must decide if Luke—and their love—is worth the greatest risk of all.

So Right 4.5 Stars'So Right' by Darcy Burke is book Two in the "Ribbon Ridge: Love on the Vine" series.  This is the story of  Kelsey and Luke.  I have not yet read the previous boo so for me this was a standalone book. Kelsey is really just seems to be starting over after having a very bad experience with a past boyfriend.  Kelsey is working at a Library and working part time at a bar. Her good friend has been taking her to a Winery where her boyfriend helps to run.  There she meets Luke who is eye catching but with her past she just plans to only be friends.  Luke who is single and hasn't meet a women who understand his working habits nor his desire for only time. But with Kelsey she seems to understand him and is easy on the eyes. But Kelsey has her past to deal with before things can go forward completely for them.  This was a great emotional love story as two 'friends' slowly move forward toward more.  "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

I have enjoyed the other books by Darcy that I've read, so I usually watch for her name when it's time to request books.

Kelsey has been one of my favorite parts of this series, so I was thrilled to see that she was getting her own story. And her and Luke are adorable. He's a genuinely good person, and their chemistry is palpable.

My main complaint is Thankfully, things were addressed and as always there's a perfect HEA and a great epilogue.

I can't wait to see what Jamie's story brings.

**Huge thanks to Darcy Burke and NetGalley for providing the arc free of charge**

Burke is one of those authors that I both love and hate...their books! Thought I was talking about her didn't you? Not! She has a way of making me want to scream when I read her books. I also can't get enough of them.

When I read her books I'm just pulled for one emotion to another. Total roller coaster ride.

I'm really enjoying her Love on the Vine series. Up this time is Luke. He's a wonderful character that you really get to know in his book. You find that there is more to him the the free loving, hard playing...

He's really more down to earth. He loves his vines and pumpkins. Read the story to learn about them. I know, I'm a tease. I really enjoyed him.

I also enjoyed Kelsey...most of the time. I really feel for what she dealt with in her past, another thing I won't talk about, but sometimes she was so hard on Luke. Always changing her mind every second. And this is the part that makes me love Burke's books, I understood what she felt but I also know how Luke felt. I was so conflicted!!!!

By the end of the book all was well. Are you really shocked? It is a romance after all. Now all you that follow me will know that I like to read my series in order. The Love on the Vine series follows the Ribbon Ridge series. In fact, one of the men that own the vineyard story is from the Ribbon Ridge series.

I'm going to break my own rule here and say you don't need to read the Ribbon Ridge series to read the Love on the Vine series. Of course, I would but that's just me. Plus that series was very, very, good! I would read the Love on the Vine series in order though. It will make So Right more enjoyable.

So Right by Darcy Burke
Series: Ribbon Ridge: Love on the Vine #2

3 Stars- This was my first book by Darcy Burke. It had some good chemistry between Luke and Kelsey. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well, however, we never got to find out what happened in the teeny added on subplot of what Kelsey and her friend's are researching. Perhaps that carries on through to book 3.

At times, I did find Kelsey to be very harsh with her mixed signals to Luke. I understand she's trying to figure herself out, but it was very hot and cold. A few times I thought to myself ..Poor Luke. On the plus side he is a nice and patient guy, which is just the match to help Kelsey learn to trust again, however long that will take.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and I would read another by her.

* I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review *

Loved this story. This series is set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and the author does an amazing job of painting a wonderful picture of the area with her words. The slow build romance between Luke and Kelsey was fantastic to watch unfold. Kelsey has had a troubled past and is quite reluctant to enter into another relationship. Luke isn't really a relationship guy himself and devotes all his time and energy to his winery. That is until Kelsey comes along. There is a bit of back and forth in this one which normally drives me a little crazy but with Kelsey's background you can understand it. Thankfully it wasn't over done. I definitely recommend this one to everyone.

••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars—SO RIGHT is the second installment in Darcy Burke’s contemporary, adult LOVE ON THE VINE romance series focusing on the Westcott brothers of Ribbon Ridge. This is vintner and winery co-owner Luke Westcott, and librarian/bar waitress Kelsey McDade’s story line. LOVE ON THE VINE is a spin off from Burke’s Ribbon Ridge series. We were first introduced to Luke and his brothers (Cameron and Jamie) in You’re Still the One (Ribbon Ridge #6). You do not have to read the original series to follow the premise of SO RIGHT but I recommend reading You’re Still the One for some backstory about the brothers and their new winery business.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Luke and Kelsey) SO RIGHT follows the building relationship between vintner Luke Westcott, and librarian Kelsey McDade- a relationship that struggles with demons from the past. Kelsey McDade is a broken woman whose past controls the present, and with it, Kelsey’s inability to move forward in life. A self-proclaimed workaholic, Kelsey’s lifestyle leaves no time for rest or relaxation but winery owner Luke Westcott slowly begins to worm his way into our heroine’s heart. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Kelsey and Luke, and the continuing research into the historical significance of Ribbon Ridge.

Both Kelsey and Luke are workaholics; individuals who prefer to be left alone but the loneliness comes with too many ghosts and demons in the dark. Kelsey’s one and only relationship left our heroine broken and destroyed; Luke’s past relationship fizzled out but comes looking for another chance.

The relationship between Luke and Kelsey is fraught the back and forth of one woman’s reluctance to give love a second chance. Frustrating in its presentation Kelsey’s ‘yes, no, maybe’ ongoing indecisiveness, although understandable under the circumstances, made for some discouraging reading and I had a difficult time accepting the heroine as a love interest for Luke. The $ex scenes are intimate and romantic without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and test.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Luke’s brothers Jamie, and Cameron and his wife Brooke (So Good #1), as well as a large number of the Archer clan from the original Ribbon Ridge Series. Arch and Vine bar tender George Wilson, a regular in both of the series, finds love with the introduction of Kelsey’s grandma Ruby Atwood.

SO RIGHT is a sweet romance with a little bit of spice, angst, and romance. The premise is engaging and heartwarming; the romance is emotional; the characters are spirited and passionate although Kelsey’s flip-flopping was annoying-sometimes you gotta pull up your big girl panties and take a chance. SO RIGHT will captivate your imagination.

I was rather disappointed in this book! Both Luke and Kelsey were introverts, which made it hard for me to connect to them, and hard for a relationship to really get started between these two. Compounding this issue is the fact that Kelsey had been abused by an ex-boyfriend and she wasn't being forthcoming about it with Luke, which had him making blunders that reminded her of her ex. I get that she didn't really want to date, but she was sending enough mixed signals to make ME confused, never mind Luke! The historical aspect took some interesting turns, but there wasn't enough of that plot thread there to keep me interested in the book. Thankfully, it was a quick read, and while I plan on finishing out the series, I worry as to how interested I'll be in the next book.

Darcy Burke knows how to write stories that grab you by the heart...and push your emotional buttons! SO RIGHT is book #2 of the Love On The Vine series. It is a spin-off to the Ribbon Ridge novels and features the Westcott Brothers. This is Luke Westcott's story.
Luke isn't an alpha male. A self-admitted introvert and workaholic, he loves his vines and his alone time. He is an all around solid man, the kind his friends and family can rely on. Lately, he keeps running into Kelsey and starts rethinking his solitary way of life.
Kelsey is driven to working and saving after a bad relationship, so she gets where Luke is coming from. As tempted as she is interested in Luke, she is in no hurry for a relationship. They strike up a friendship, but she keeps sending Luke mix messages. It's a good thing that you can read her thought processes, otherwise she would be a wishy-washy woman, but Ms Burke's talented pen has you hoping that Kelsey can heal from her broken past. That doesn't mean that you don't want to shake her once in a while. She has a tendency to make Luke pay for the sins of her past. Luke proves that he is with her for the long haul, especially after an OMG moment near the end of the story.
SO RIGHT is another great addition to the series. I loved Kelsey's grandmother and it was nice spending time with the Westcott's and their friends, the Archers. Luke and Kelsey's story was an emotional roller coaster and I can't wait to see more in this heartfelt series.

SO RIGHT, the second novel in the Ribbon Ridge Love on the Vine series by Darcy Burke, is a well-written, contemporary romance that continues with many of the characters from her popular Ribbon Ridge series. While there are many references to characters and events in the previous novels, SO RIGHT can easily be read as a standalone story.

Kelsey McDade and Luke Westcott, our main couple, like each other immediately but they have some issues that make getting together difficult. Kelsey was in a previous abusive relationship so she has difficulty trusting men. Luke has thrown his all into his vineyard, and he doesn’t feel he wants, or needs, a serious relationship with anyone. To add to this, they are both introverts, so they actually prefer being alone sometimes than being with other people. Can they overcome all of this to find love together?

I liked both Kelsey and Luke, and I was rooting for them all the way. I also liked that their tendency to be introverted was recognized in the telling of their story. This doesn’t usually come up in a romance novel, and it made the characters seem all the more real to me.

The secondary characters were delightful, especially Kelsey’s grandmother and her boss, who also found themselves falling in love. The other good people of Ribbon Ridge added richness and texture to the town, which is practically a character in itself.

The pace of the story and the romance is steady, but this leads me to the one problem with this book, and the reason why I gave it four stars instead of five: It is just too predictable throughout. While there are some serious events that take place, especially towards the end of the book, none of these events are particularly surprising. I was looking forward to a big twist that left me shocked at the turn of events, but it never came. This will not, however, stop me from recommending the book. It was still an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to the next installment in Ribbon Ridge.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

So Enjoyable

This trilogy has successfully sucked me in and made me unable to stop reading. Luke and Kelsey, while characters in book 1, were both the quieter (obviously had a back story) type who you were left curious about. I liked there story - it has the usual drama, but was handled without being overly predictable. I still feel at time the vast cast of characters is forced upon you (but admit if you've read the other Ribbon Ridge series you've already met most of them - if which I have not). I loved the additional side story of George and Ruby (George is that fun minor character you're always rooting for). The ongoing plot line of the ladies researching the history/mystery of the town is a lot of fun and I'm curious for their outcome. Definitely a worthwhile read if you're a fan of contemporary romances.

So Right is a fantastic romance with a twist of suspense by Darcy Burke. Kelsey moved to Ribbon Ridge after her ex went to jail for abuse and is now the librarian and works part-time at a local pub. She's also involved in researching and helping out whenever someone needs a hand. Luke is part owner of a vineyard and has a bit of a thing for Kelsey. There's plenty of humor, spice and when Luke's ex arrives unexpectedly and Kelsey's ex is released from prison there's a bit of suspense added. I enjoyed their story. So Right is book 2 of the So Hot Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Heather's review from Smut MattersSome fairly minor spoilers ahead.

So Right is the second book in the Love on the Vine series, which, I believe, is a spin-off, or continuation of Darcy Burke's Ribbon Ridge series. I've read some of the Ribbon Ridge books, not all of them, but that didn't have an impact on my reading of this book. It was easily read as a standalone.

Kelsey has been in Ribbon Ridge for a few years, but it's a small town, and she's still considered a newbie. She's really settled in and made a home for herself, though she keeps herself on the periphery of everything, not letting anyone get too close. She started a library for the town, which it had been lacking, and she works there full-time, while also working part time at the local bar, the Arch and Vine, waiting tables. There are people she's friendly with, people she knows, but no really close friends, and definitely no boyfriend.

Luke Westcott was born and raised in Ribbon Ridge. He's had a few long-term relationships, but none of them really stuck. He's been doing some soul-searching and realizing he does want to settle down, but he also has some commitment and intimacy issues. He's been interested in Kelsey since they met, but he gets some pretty strong stay-away vibes from her, so he hasn't seriously pursued her yet. Until now.

This story was sweet and charming, and the sex, while on the page, was pretty standard; there wasn't anything here I'd consider boundary-pushing in that respect. I've come to expect really great characters from Darcy Burke, and So Right was no different. Kelsey and Luke were both fully developed characters, as were the supporting cast. There just wasn't anything new or revolutionary here. And, frankly, I'm getting a little tired of the abusive boyfriend/husband as back story. So many authors and stories are relying on this to inform their characters current actions, and to give the main character a reason to be wary and to not want to get involved with the hero, and it's a guaranteed way to add some dramatic tension to the story - Will the ex show up? What will happen?? But unless the ex is dead, it's a given that he'll show up, even if he's currently sitting in jail, and it's not nearly as dramatically tense as authors seem to think. And for the most part, these books aren't doing any deep dives into the issue, they're using it as a crutch without really saying anything about it.

So Right did a slightly better job with that than most. There's a scene when the ex has shown up and Luke hauls off and hits him just on general principle. Instead of swooning with gratitude at his testosterone-fueled chivalry, Kelsey is appalled and runs off. In her eyes, violence is violence and she wants no part of it. She takes some time, and when she and Luke meet up again, she talks to him about it, explains her feelings. This is a pretty big component that a lot of romances miss. Real people in adult relationships talk to each other and explain why they're upset by something. They explain their reasoning, and the other person listens. They may or may not agree, but they at least listen, and that's an aspect to Kelsey and Luke's relationship I appreciated. They may initially go off for their own space, but they come back and talk things out.

Every time I read a book by Darcy Burke, I say I need to read more of them, and this time is no exception. I missed the first book in this Love on the Vine series, and now I really want to read it. And I'm really excited for the third book, too. I dearly love a romance with an age difference, particularly when it's the woman who's older. It lends and interesting dynamic, and I can't wait to see what Darcy Burke does with it.

What a delightful series this is! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Archers and Westcotts, two prominent families in their small town. Though each story is a stand alone, it is so much more meaningful to have the background on each of the couples as they all keep reappearing in subsequent storylines. This one brings Luke Westcott his happily ever after as he finds his person in Kelsey. She leads him through lots of highs and lows however, as she recovers from an abusive relationship, and lots of trigger points that set her into a tail spin. Luke is very kind and patient with her, making him a wonderful book boyfriend! Looking forward to Jamie’s story!

I loved Luke and Kelsey! Both are workaholics, but they find themselves making time for each other. Kelsey's past makes her shy away from relationships, but I loved that Luke was patient with her and was willing to settle for friendship if that was all that Kelsey could offer. Luckily for both of them, she couldn't resist him. Fun, sweet and sexy times make this a good read. Fans of the Ribbon Ridge series will enjoy this spin-off series as well.

I read the first book in the series and enjoyed it but wasn’t sure I wanted to continue with the series. Then this book went on sale so I picked it up just to see if maybe I would enjoy it more.

Unfortunately I didn’t really have a much better experience with book #2. In fact, after retreading my review for the first book I realized that I could basically just write the same review but switch character names. Suffice it to say, I won’t be continuing with this series.

Book number two in the “Love on the Vine” series.
Helpful to read the first book and the fabulous Ribbon Ridge series as so many characters are intertwined in the story but it can be read as a standalone.
Kelsey works two jobs to keep her mind occupied and to pay off debts.
She has come off a very difficult relationship.
Luke loves the outdoors, working in the vineyard.
As they meet and try friendship, they struggle in many ways for romance.
Enjoyable quick read, good side story with Kelsey’s grandmother.
I received an ARC but the honest opinion is my own.

Luke and Kelsey really are So Right for each other. They have no problems, other than Kelsey can't seem to make up her mind in the beginning. One minute no, the next yes. Luke is so patient though. Could have done without the last two chapters, they really had nothing to do with the book. But overall a great book.

Two loners find each other and realize how much brighter things are with a partner. Both characters have pasts that haunt them and leave them gun shy. The author does a good job portraying the issues that Kelsey has, making her believable and relatable. I really love this series and the Ribbon Ridge story lines.

A Wonderful, Entertaining & Romantic Story.

There was a cheezy moment, albeit it was Great. Having a Story about Physical Abuse was written with care & was very Informative.

Kelsey & Luke were wonderful characters. I really liked Grandma Ruby. Luke was very patient with Kelsy & I loved this Story & Series.

So Right’s another book in Darcy Burke’s Ribbon Ridge series. If you haven’t read the series yet, it’s worth checking out but you do not need to read the entire series to enjoy this book. I love the series because Ms. Burke has built up Ribbon Ridge so that as a reader you just want to visit or live there. (Yes, yes, I know it’s fictional).

Our heroine, Kelsey’s the new librarian in town, and she volunteers a shift at the local vineyard, where our hero, Luke, is the manager. They’re both introverts, which they acknowledge from the start. I liked that they acknowledged that. I’m not an introvert, but I know that introversion v. extroversion adds an interesting layer to a developing relationship.

The attraction between them isn’t quite instant, but it builds quickly. Yet, Kelsey holds back. I don’t think I’m spoiling anything by revealing her last relationship was abusive, which has made her reticent to date again. So they try the friendship route, slowly getting to know each other and building the trust needed for a more romantic relationship. That slow journey makes for a wonderful read.

As a bonus for those of you who know what the Bechdel test, every book I’ve read in the series passes it, including this one. (The Bechdel Test, named after writer Allison Bechdel, requires that there are two female characters, who talk to each other, and it’s about something other than a man.) As noted, you don’t need to read the series in order. If you do, however, you see the female friendships unfold as they work together to resolve a mystery regarding one of the original settlers of the area. That layer of female friendship adds a wonderful touch to these tales. Plus, there’s also a lovely side story about her grandmother that makes things more interesting as well.

So, if you like multi-layered romance, with strong family relations and a touch of female friendship focusing on a group of family and friends that make wine and beer, read this book, and this series. You’ll enjoy it.

3.75/5 on my romance scale. I received an ARC for this book.

So right is a great title for this second book in the Ribbon Ridge: Love on the Vine Series!!
In this one we get to know more about Luke Westcott, who manages a vineyard with his friend and his brothers.
We meet all of them in the Fantastic Ribbon Ridge series!
We also get to know a character from the previous books, Kelsey Mcdade.

Both Luke and Kelsey are not looking for a relationship. Kelsey, having been hurt is not truly recovered.
Luke is too busy being everything but a boyfriend to anyone. His love is the great outdoors!

They have great chemistry, but it's just not the right time.
Or is it? THis is another great story by Darcy Burke. She is one of my favorite authors. Writing both Contemporary and Historical romance with the same "brush." Painting pictures with her words that make you want to sit and stare at them for hours.
I love the banter between the characters and the general sense of fun and friendliness.
No matter what the situation, these feel like real people. People you know and care for.
I really like it when an author can make me angry and laugh, cry and pout in the same book.
Darcy does that, repeatedly!
This is a standalone book, but I would recommend the entire Ribbon Ridge series & the first book, So good.
They really all are SO GOOD!!

So Right is the second book in the Love On The Vine Series by Darcy Burke. However I read this one as a standalone as this is the first book I have read from Burke. So Right follows Kelsey as she is still struggling to overcome her abusive ex. She puts all she has into her work, and is very proud of it. Luke is one of the owners of the vineyard in town, and runs in the same circle as Kelsey. He is a loner and has problems with sharing his personal life as well as space. This is a slow burning, extremely sweet romance.

For me this book was only okay. I like a good sweet simple romance every once in a while, but this one was just a little too sweet for my liking. I really enjoyed Luke’s character the most, he is your typical guy next door. He is sweet and caring and has a big heart. He also owns a vineyard… I mean come on that’s my dream guy! He is patient with Kelsey as she is trying to get her life together, and wants nothing more than to be the person that is there for her. Kelsey’s character on the other hand, I did not feel as much love towards. I just found Kelsey’s character super indecisive and kind of annoying at some points. I understand that she is dealing with the aftermath of her abuse, however, I just really didn’t like the way she was written.

Pretty much 90% of the storyline is what you would expect of your typical romance novel, there is nothing special about it necessarily, and then you get to the last like 3 chapters and get an interesting turn of events. I’m sitting there thinking, well where was this the whole book? Overall it wasn’t a bad book, and it probably is a great book for someone other than me. There just wasn’t anything super exciting that grabbed me and pulled me in for this one.

Overall rating: 3/5 stars

Every now and again you find a book that touches your heart with the honesty and sweetness of it's storyline. This is one of these books. This storyline is well written and gives you a look at an abuse survivor, one that is trying her best to move on with her life, and getting involved in another relationship is no where in her future, nor in her mind. But there he is, he's sweet, funny, laid back, and a total workaholic....just like her. He's a loner...just like her. He likes his on space, his alone time...just like her. And he's interested....just like her! He likes her, she likes him but she's afraid and has to try her best to step out of her comfort zone and attempt some type of normalacy. She gives him a chance, but when her future appears to be threatened, he is there to offer a safe haven for her. Will that safe haven not only be his home, but in his arms as well? One can only hope...and he does hope.

You will love Kelsey and Luke, as well as his family, her grandmother, and her freinds...Great read and I highly recommend this book!!!

Darcy Burke has wrote the perfect trifecta; romance, wine, and librarians. I felt as if Burke looked into my mind and knew this book would be a something I would really enjoy, and I did!

So Right is the second book in the Love on the Vine series, which is a spin off of the Ribbon Ridge series. If you haven’t read the Ribbon Ridge series, or the first book, So Good, in the Love on the Vine series, I highly recommend you do.

I’ve enjoyed all of them, and Burke did a wonderful job writing characters that instantly felt like friends. The town of Ribbon Ridge is someplace I want to live. Besides having so many nice people, the town seems adorable. After spending a day in town going to various shops including the Knitty Gritty (a knitting store with knick knacks) and a Slice of Pi (a pizza restaurant), the winery would be a perfect place to end the day…. Although in this book, the three Westcott brothers, along with one of the Archers, are still working on getting it ready for opening day.

Okay, enough about the amazing characters and the picture perfect town. In So Right, Burke went a little darker than the other books. Kelsey had been in an abusive relationship, and this has her keeping a distance from Luke, even though she is really attracted to him. Luke, who is a workaholic, is attracted to Kelsey as well, but with the mixed signals Kelsey is sending him, Luke thinks it may just be easier to keep throwing himself into the work that needs to be done at the winery.

Besides Kelsey’s abusive relationship, the end of the book is where the book goes a bit darker. I would love to see Burke take a stab at writing a novel with more suspense, from the bit we see at the end, I think she would do an excellent job.

With all of Burke’s Contemporary and Historical Romance novels, the sex scenes she writes are steamy, and sometimes very sweet, depending on the situation. If you’re looking for a great beach read or something to curl up with by the fire, this is a wonderful choice.

So Right ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ by Darcy Burke
Ribbon Ridge: Love on the Vine #2

Although, not a contemporary reader the author Darcy Burke draws me in like a moth to a flame.

When our heroine hides herself from life and love in the small town of Ribbon Ridge to heal her mind and body she is drawn into its charms.
Kelsey McDade lives, if you want to call it that, on the periphery of life. She works two job and lives in a run down apartment. She is a librarian by day and waitress in a bar at night.

Even in her secluded world she befriends several young women in the town. It is with these friends she becomes acquainted with Luke Westcott a part owner of the local winery. Luke, too, is licking his wound from a failed relationship. When he meets Kelsey the sparks fly. Yet he see a reservation in her and tries to uncover the problem.

This book is really about and individual recovering from years of abuse. I admire the way this author handled the serious subject with respect and dignity. The common thought is why doesn't the abused get up and leave. Ms Burke addresses the thought process the abused goes through and take us on this roller coaster of emotions.

When both Luke and Kelsey are able to free themselves of their painful pasts we cheer loud and shed a tear for their love. Well done Ms Burke.

Nice read! Love this book from the start up to the last. The story and the characters are good. For me, this book is light from the others of the book that I usually read. The characters, Luke and Kelsey are easy to like and love. The other characters too are interesting, especially Kelsey's grandma - she's fun LOL.
Overall, the story is good, it's not that hardcore/intense but it's still good.
