I really really REALLY wished the author at least made Hana a college freshman. The story is hilarious and it would have been much easier to completely enjoy it if she was at least of age.

Hana is pressed into a marriage meeting with Takane, a scion of a business empire, impersonating her sister to save her father's job! Ready to put that fiasco behind her Hana is shocked that Takane actually seems interested in her! She is exasperated by his immaturity but intrigued despite herself at the fun she has as they try to outwit one another...

Takane & Hana vol 6 was totally unexpected in a way that makes me boggle at the diabolical mind of our mangaka, Yuki Shiwasu!! Poor, poor, poor Takane to be put through the wringer by his creator but POW! did it totally know my socks off... There is nothing worse that the one you secretly love seeing you hit rock bottom so much so you can't even respect yourself. And I really love how Hana responds. At her age I would have totally done the same thing... age is a huge deal between then even though they don't talk about it, so it makes sense... But this is where the friends step up and I really love that about this series!!

Takane & Hana vol 6 was just as funny and hilarious as it always is... and I loved that we got that in the beginning of the volume... Takane can be kinda creepy with his rich man gifts and the unusual way he reacts to Hana's carefully thought out shows of affection (like gifts!) but in an endearing way. We needed that contrast with how he is later when he doesn't have all of his typical confidence boosting elements behind him. It really shows that real, manly side to him that is normally smothered under his snobbish side. It's so adorable and relatable and real.

We see a ton of family in Takane & Hana vol 6 and I loved it!! The unexpected ones were Hana's grandparents who caused me to fall to the floor in laughter... hahahaha. His grandfather decided to handle this entire situation in such an unusual way... most Asians do not attack from the direction Takane's grandfather does and that is so, so, so refreshing!! I was admittedly on the edge of my seat waiting to see how Takane responded but also Hana. I wasn't expecting it to be Okamon and Hana's dad who take the unexpected spotlight! I love Takane & Hana for just this reason... the characters are so dynamic.

I love how the art got dark and creepy while retaining what makes it funny and unexpected. Takane's reaction to his plight really shows through the art and this is why manga has to be manga and not another story form! I love how the art ADDS to the story and really makes what could be considered tropey totally anything but. Yuki Shiwasu sure knows how to balance... funny and serious, playful and firm, friends and lovers, dark and light... It's in the story but also in the art. Gorgeous!

Takane & Hana vol 6 throws not only Takane and Hana for loops but also the dear readers! We go dark and deep places that you'd never think a fun and light shoujo manga would or could go... but Yuki Shiwasu goes there and it makes Takane & Hana vol 6 the best volume of the series! I can't wait to read the next volume and see the strengthening that will surely happen from Takane and Hana going through this rough patch together.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art

I told myself I would read just one chapter and then do things I need to do, but here we are how ever much time later with the whole volume read…

This volume was SUCH an emotional roller coaster!! :o :o :o

I didn't expect it to take such a turn and could not stop reading because I needed to know how it would unfold. (Also I don't think I'll look at the chairman the same way again *nervous laughter*) The beginning was fun though and loved the minor "arc"(?) of Hana worrying about Mizuki, even if now I'm unsure if that ship with Nicola will actually sail or not. *cries* But I really enjoyed all that happened and how Hana lectured Nicola. Rightfully deserved even if I like his character!

The art is always really good, but so many expressions in this one really really hit me. Okamon deserves an award for best boy because I can't help but commend him at how he is always listening, giving advice, and looking out for Hana. He truly is amazing and feel bad that I gush about him in every review recently, but gah, I hope he gets such a happy ending! He deserves all the nice things! <3

Go Hana for "winning" in the end!! (Granted, given the circumstances, is it REALLY winning? *nervous laughter* Anyway…)

I can't say much happened, but it's starting to feel it's quite past the middle now. It was a fun volume.

3.5.

It's not hard to understand if you haven't read the previous volumes, but I think the best of this was to see the characters' progression.

Hana is slowly growing feelings for Takane, but Takane has problems he is too ashamed to ask Hana for help or at least support. As the author states, this is the beginning of a new part of the story. I feel the last volume a little random and now we seem to be going into the plot again.

Still, the plot twist was a little bit of a cliché, what Takane will do of it is what I'm looking forward to reading in the next volume. Since the start of the story, it's not the plot that attracts me, it's how the characters react.I'm trying not to spoil the events but you can find out what I mean from the summary for this volume.

Summing up, if you're already this far in the story, keep going because it's getting exciting. And for those who haven't read anything, yes, I still think it's worthy of your time.

The beginning of this wraps up the storylines that happen around Christmas time, then launches into a new story arc - Takane’s grandfather is frustrated that Takane won’t give him details about how his relationship is going with Hana. He decides he’s spoiled the kid too much, so he takes away all his stuff: freezes his accounts, sets him up in a shoebox of an apartment, gives him two cheap suits, and around $91 to live on for the month. He says Takane must climb back up to the top from the bottom to prove himself. Takane is so embarrassed by his new situation that he refuses to see Hana. But, based on the advice of her friend Okamon, Hana takes a page from Takane’s book and decides to pester him for a change.

This new arc is already really interesting, and it’s going to be great watching the tables turn on Takane. The mangaka points out in one side panel that there is a delicate balance between Takane’s appeal as a character and the love interest in a shojo manga. It’s going to be interesting keeping him appealing enough to satisfy the stereotypes and demands of the genre, but it will also be deeply satisfying to see this growth in Takane’s character. I appreciate Hana's dedication, and like that she is not going to let Takane slink away with his tale between his legs. Okamon is a very wise character, and he's definitely also proven his morality - he gives Hana some sound advice even though it is clear he wants to be with her. He more so just wants her to be happy.

4.5 stars This series makes me laugh so much. I love it. The art is so great and used for comedy, too. This volume had a turning point with a heavier plot line, but managed to handle it so well with the feeling of this series.

This was another good volume you start to see how Takane truly is like and how he has to overcome a difficult situation that has been casted upon him. I hope that once his embarassment fades that his true colors will reveal him to be a good person. Another thing I loved about this volume is Hana's devotion to Takane and doesn't give up on him during these difficult times. I can't wait to see how far their relationship will grow because I believe they will remain together in the end at least that is my hope through everything. Overall, this was a nice read and I am intrigued to see what happens in the next installment.

I would have been perfectly happy continuing to go on reading about these characters even if the author had pulled a Rumiko Takahashi and written forty more volumes without developing the plot much. But I'm really enjoying the fact that things ARE happening in this volume, and that time has actually passed within the world of the comic. And the expression on Hana's face when she's got Takane on the ground! Not your standard shojo manga. I love it.

I really enjoy this series so much!!! Although things are happening that were truly unexpected I am really happy that it happened because it improved all of the character growth. In addition, I appreciate the moral lessons that this volume had and the cliffhanger ending 😩 I wanted more!!!!! I always want more from this series in the best way. Because of these points I have to give this volume a 4 out of 5 stars.

This got good.

So the overall story was a comedic one. But then this wrecking ball came in! It came in and played out really well but it was so surprising!!

Character development is at an all time high. Art style is still really good (with a few 'eh' scenes, but there are palpable emotion in a lot of the rest that make up for it).

Cannot wait for the next volume!

Okay, I have to give this volume five stars as it is easily the BEST volume in the series so far. Everyone was enjoyable, I got see some characters in a new light, and this current arc may very well be the best yet. I have to say, the Chairman really surprised me, in a good way. It isn't odd for characters like him to leave a family member penniless to teach them a lesson, but it made perfect sense in the context of the story. Takane is treated horribly by his family for being the heir, though they believe he is undeserving of it (really they just want the title themselves, but whatever). In order to make Takane prove his worth, the Chairman wants him to climb his way back to the top, and what I love is that the Chairman truly believes he can do this. If there is one thing Takane is constantly praised for, it's his hard work. This is validated when readers get to see him staying late, going to meetings, and genuinely pushing himself to be the best because he has to in order to maintain his standing. The Chairman's actions may be harsh, but they are not unrealistic, and I truly love that about this scenario.

Takane's behavior once he loses his wealth is also interesting, as it is more in keeping with his character than most in his situation. Readers know that Takane has an aversion to commoner things (though he's gotten better with Hana's help) and is easily sickened or weakened over hurt pride/things outside of his small comfort zone. Being forced to work in such a "crude" environment with only what is absolutely necessary is devastating to him and explains his pathetic behavior and attitude. I also enjoyed Hana's take on the situation as well. I found it refreshing that she initially tried to see Takane's circumstances and his rebuff from a logical perspective, but was told to view it from how Takane has been treating her. Ordinarily I would side with Hana's logical conclusion, but Okamon's advice rings more true in this situation (side note, thank you Okamon for finally doing something of actual value! Yay!). Takane has been disrespecting Hana's privacy and personal time whenever he feels like it, why shouldn't she? Why should his circumstance leave her out of the picture, especially after all the time they've shared? Seriously, the ending of the volume was absolutely brilliant and I loved loved loved it! I can't wait for volume 7, I want to see where this arc goes!

So New Year's goes by. There's an incident with Luciano & Mizuki, Hana's friend - she has feelings for him but he's so flirty with everyone & so, Hana warns him to be considerate of Mizuki. Then Takane runs into trouble. His grandpa, the chairman, randomly decides to teach him how to live without money & takes EVERYTHING away from him :O And it's like a shock for Takane & he stops visiting Hana & she's hurt at first & doesn't know what to do but then she starts visiting him again & making meals for him & he's slowly learning to deal with it & getting back to usual self. This is interesting—cuz Hana likes him with or without his money so it's nice to see their relationship develop. To know that she stood by him when he had nothing, it'll make her special :D

Today's post is on Takane & Hana, vol 6 by Yuki Shiwasu. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover as Hana with mini Takane's floating behind her. As it is the sixth in the long running series, you need to have read the first five volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes comedy manga with growing characters. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of Hana and Takane. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Takane is suddenly confronted with a major crisis when his grandfather, the chairman of the Takaba Group, strips him of his wealth! When Takane instantly goes from being super rich to penniless, how will Hana deal with a dejected Takane who has lost everything?

Review- This volume is about Hana an Takane having to deal with his new challenge and Takane is falling apart. He doesn't know how to do anything for himself and he doesn't want Hana or anyone else to see him in this state. Of course that is a bad idea and he doesn't understand how someone would want to be around him without the money. But Hana is going to set him straight. She finds out what has happened and knows that he doesn't know how to take care of himself, so she is going to help him overcome this new challenge. This volume was more serious than pervious ones but Hana and Takane are still as funny as ever and Takane is getting some real good character development and learning. I am curious what Hana is going to teach him and what trouble Takane is going to cause.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

3,5

I devoured the series over the course of a couple of months. Took a little longer than I hoped because a few of them decided to take forever from Amazon. Hana ends up roped into taking her older sisters place in a marriage match never expecting that anything would come from it. Instead a we get a very sweet comical whirlwind romance between her and Takane.

I ended up reading the first one and instantly ordering the rest of them it's such a cute series kind of a enemies to lover romance between them. I loved Hana she's an adorable character and I think because of her I'm going to do bubblegum pink hair next. Each manga has the pair growing as characters. Takane had a lot of growing to do but he get's there eventually.

The artwork is as equally lovely as the story. I was captivated right from the start and fell in love with Hana and Takane's story. This is one of my favorite series that I'm so glad I purchased the set. They will always have a special place on my bookshelf and I know they will get some re-reads as I wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. I plan to read the authors other manga as I loved this one so much. Highly recommend a perfect sweet romance.

There is a lot of character progression and development such as Hana realizing her feelings and Takane finding his identity without his wealth. This is good. I'm slightly curious about the family history and drama especially after that holiday family dinner, but I don't have confidence in the plot. I was always a bit iffy about the storyline, and even though I still intrigued, I'm not liking this turn of events with Takane losing his wealth. It's random and doesn't make any sense. There's no flow to it because it's obviously so contrived in a way to move the plot a certain direction. I get it, but I don't think it was well presented. I also don't support the potential side coupling. It's weird. It's a toss-up. Like, I still want to read this, but I don't like where the story is heading: the structuring and its predictability.

By the way, I know the manga was making fun of itself with the father and daughter jab but that was so unnecessary and a little distasteful, in my opinion...

I want to give it three stars. It's actually quite close to three stars, but... nope

Aufmachung

Highly enjoyed this volume. It reminded me a lot of the anime RWBY, the character Weiss.
Her father cuts off her money and she’s practically broke but like she has her friends and shit, and though it takes a bit to understand that she doesn’t need her fathers money to be happy, and also that being rich isn’t a character trait.
Anyways Takane’s situation towards the end is so similar, and for Hana to finally tell him again that she never cared in the first place is what made me so happy. I mean his personality was all “rich guy” and as funny as it was, I was glad Hana finally said it again that she never cared cuz then it can finally hit him that he doesn’t need money to make her happy.
I literally want them to be together, I mean they both like each other, though it’s technically illegal cuz she’s still in high school. But I want them to end up together so badly 🙂

Oh ho! This volume has a nice little twist on things...

There's a lot of questioning of feelings and values in this volume and it takes this a bit beyond casual light read for humor that the story has been so far. Several of the characters are faced with moments where they need to stop and question the status quo and have an opportunity then to stretch and grow. We'll have to see what they make of these opportunities in the next volume as few of those outcomes are contained within. I like where this is headed, but I still have a hard time seeing this plot hold out for too many more volumes.

When Takene become penniless overnight after his grandfather takes everything away, he is forced to work for a company and save the money that his grandfather has given him for living expenses.

Ten days have passed, Takane doesn't show up or talk to Hana at all. Embarrassed and feeling down, he doesn't want to ask for help especially from Hana.

But Hana isn't given up so easily. Now that she realizes her feeling for him are more than she thought. She doesn't care about his money, he only cares about him.

I like that Takane does have feelings for Hana and I hope that they get together at some point as she gets older. I know this manga isn't finish yet but I look forward to seeing how it ends with this complex couple.
