A sinkhole is a natural phenomenon. It can happen anywhere, anytime. It drinks lakes dry, consumes jungles, and even demolishes entire mountains. You may have seen one in your street. But these things aren’t lost. They’ve simply been moved. Things are forgotten on the surface all the time. Beneath the crust, they’re always remembered.
Blood thirsty pirates with a hidden treasure. A long lost prince in plain view. A deadly monster with a terrible secret. Everyone has something to hide. It's what lies beneath.
SINK. A forgotten world. A lost world. But not for long.

I received this book to give an honest review. First let me start off with saying that these covers to Sink are AMAZING!!! They really go with the story! So I started reading the story and I remember the characters but I couldn't remember exactly how they gotten to this island. So I went back and read a bit from the previous book as I needed a refresher. I have to say this family is in for one heck of ride. They are on this island but they are far from alone. We get introduced to pirates and the British, though as we get towards the end of the book we learn a bit on why they just don't attack each other head on. I really love this world beneath us. Sink is a world like no other and it is great to see how the characters need to try to survive in a world that is not on the surface. I really like how the pirates came across especially the captain Stoneheart it seems not all is like it truly seems with him. As far as characters go the kids didn't seem as bratty as they did the first time I read about them, it seems being in a situation that is not what they are use to does wonders. Where the ending left off I know there has to be a book three in the works.
If you loved Journey to the Center of the Earth, you will ABSOLUTELY adore this series!! Follow a family of a father, and his son, along with the father's new girlfriend, and her daughter. As they fall into a sink hole and discover new worlds beneath the Earth's crust.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
I was pleasantly surprised by the first book in the series, SINK: The Lost World. It is much like Journey To The Center Of The Earth where a family is sucked down a sink hole and they wind up several miles below in a verdant and very dangerous jungle with prehistoric creatures and men. But that is where the similarity ends as they fight their way to a PASSAGE that will take them, hopefully to the surface. That is where the second part comes as the family travel through the air passage but unfortunately it is not to the surface but another part of this lost world, (possible spoilers) perhaps formed under the sea ( unknown which) complete with pirates and British navel ships and soldiers. Zoe, Bryan, Cassie and Aaron find themselves on a desert island where they are promptly captured by the legendary pirate Stoneheart who is reputed to be immortal, deadly and cruel. When they try to escape they are given a choice, find a treasure map that can only be on the mainland where the descendants of British people live. Unfortunately for them no one knows where on the land mass it might be and no one that has ever gone to look for it has ever returned. To make it that much more interesting and equally impossible they have forty-eight hours to find the map leading to the treasure and return or Aaron who will be held as hostage/collateral. Failure to return with the map or within that time will mean his death. Bryan, Zoe and Cassie head inland desperate to find the map to the mythical treasure but are strangers in a strange land and must deal with the customs and laws of the land. And there are the royals who play a dangerous game among each other with their court intrigues and sinister machinations to overthrow currant rule. And Admiral ( each person is given the name of their station in life) has been approached by a coweled man, mysterious and dark with plans that could save the mainland people from the roving pirates or take control of everything he hold dear while even he conspires against King in the hopes to help his people. While the family desperately searches for the map and return to save Aaron he faces his own danger with an ever increasingly moody and melancholy Stoneheart. His only friend and shield is Jim the Captains right hand man. While there are three distinct plots in the story line, all given equal time, they all come together very well. The content is enough to keep you guessing to the real mystery that is just below the surface while you are glued to the adventures of each character and their different goals. The ending is not unexpected but there is a twist to it that you might not expect. In my first review I stated I can easily see this as a minI series either on Television or on the big screen. It would make for a great adventure in the the venue of JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH or THE LOST WORLD meets CAPTAIN NEMO. You will understand the CAPTAIN NEMO reference eventually. I know this is a trilogy but I'm hoping it won't stop on the next saga of SINK. Yeah, it's that good.
This book of the Sink series finds our intrepid adventurers taking an unexpected and dangerous journey. Where? Aboard a pirate ship... You didn't see that coming, did you?
As usual, Briar's characters are full and believable. The story is well written, exciting, and the reader feels every breath of air and small bump along the journey.
In Sink World, anything can happen - and does - and nothing is quite as it seems. So expect the unexpected, and enjoy the ride! I'm really looking forward to the next instalment.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free ecopy of this book.
This series is a must read. Oh my goodness, it is exciting. I keep telling myself I am not going to start a new series until all the books are out and then I read the first few pages and end up waiting for the next book since I finished it. If you haven't read any of this authors books you need to. I haven't been disappointed yet.
