When a much-despised politician is murdered, Tiffany Black and her friend Ian must uncover the truth about his death.
But when the investigation keeps turning up dead ends, Nanna, who's visiting Las Vegas for a few days, insists on "helping" Tiffany and Ian, with surprising results.
Meanwhile, Tiffany keeps searching for clues about Stone's past, and finally uncovers an important connection.
Note: While Pesky Politicians in Las Vegas is a stand-alone story, it is highly recommended that you read Lost Kitten in Las Vegas first.
These books have lost their charm. I didn’t notice how terrible the dialogue is until this one. The conversations are so stilted and awkward you have to wonder if the author has ever tried having someone read it aloud to see if it sounds even remotely like two adult humans speaking. Because it doesn’t. Has the author even talked to a detective? By the end of the book I wasn’t even sure if Tiffani got paid for her work. Not to mention she never seems to be making any kind of accounting for her hours, gas or food she paid for while interviewing suspects. Plus whole thing was wrapped up way too quickly (“and a few months later _______ was sentenced to _______”). Um, no. We wish the judicial system was that fast. And what billionaire business man politician owns a condo in Florida worth “a quarter of a million dollars”. A quarter of a million dollars is $250,000. What city is this place in and what billionaire would want to live there? And every single suspect, family member and person associated with the victim all seem to be in Vegas so she conveniently can interview them. He isn’t even from Vegas and yet everyone is accessible and ready to talk.
It was a good mystery as always, I loved having Nanna back but I will admit to a little boredom with Tiffanys personal life detective Ryan seems like a great guy but Tiffany still seems to obsessed with Stone and you know what if Stone was really interested in Tiffany he would keep in contact this storyline is dragging a bit I really would prefer Tiffany to be a P I solving mysteries instead of spreading herself to thin focusing on the casino, P I work and Stone.
I was disappointed with this book. Straight away there's essentially a re-cap as to what has been going on with Stone, and it's wrong. Events are given has happening out of order, what one character said is now being ascribed to other characters, and it happens again later on. Tiffany and Ian seem to do a lot of talking about the case and not a lot of doing happens. Plus, the Pesky Politician of the title is such an out-landish caricature of a politician that his death had no impact. The one thing I did like is that we got a resolution to whether Tiffany would quit her casino job or not, do to new rules. Although, .
An unlikeable politician is found dead and a high school classmate of Tiffany's is the main suspect, so he comes to her requesting her PI services. There are also several women protestors who are also viable suspects. There is also a sub-storyline going on with Tiffany trying to make some progress into the mystery that is Stone. I enjoyed the backdrop of Las Vegas (only because I lived there for several years), otherwise Tiffany's other job at the casino is just story filler. What I really didn't like was the last few pages - an abrupt ending to the solution of the politcian's death and no progress in the Stone mystery. I had to go back and make sure I didn't miss some pages, but, nope, it just ended. I'm not sure I'm sufficiently interested in reading the next one - something is just lacking for me in the series.
Tiffany and Ian are hired by one of Tiff's high school classmates who is a prime suspect in a politicians murder. As the gardener he had access to the weed killer that was the murder weapon. Tiff and Ian interview a whole slew of suspects from the the ex wives, the competition for election, the women's groups protesting, & security detail. Nana and Wes are in the middle of their honeymoon and stop in Vegas to lend a hand. There's a new job offer for Tiff from the casino and she's still on the trail to find Stone. Along the way she and Ryan have some dates when Stone suddenly reappears. This book fell flat with a lot of repetitive information and choppy story line. I hope the Stone story takes over more and more dates with Ryan along with either giving up the casino work and becoming a full time P.I. I will continue with the series because the book are short
Another nice effort from AR Winters in book #7 of the Tiffany Black series. The corrupt politician storyline moved quickly and Winters further develops casino employee/part-time investigator Black and her interesting neighbor/investigator partner Ian’s characters very nicely. A secondary storyline continues to be developed involving Tiffany's mysterious friend Stone, who has gone into hiding but makes an unexpected appearance near the end of the novel. Looking forward to reading #8 in the series!
I was really disappointed in this book. It seemed to spend more time with Tiffany and Ian talking about the case then actually doing anything. Ian just seemed to more whiny and Tiffany is always giving him to him. I was frustrated with the whole Stone storyline... either move on with it or let her find a relationship with Ryan. It's getting old just hearing about Tiffany and Ryan watching tv and making cupcakes.
Tiffany and Ian are hired by one of her ex classmates to prove he did not murder a politician. As the case evolves Nanna who is visiting decides to help out so the suspects keep increasing. Life continues so Tiffany gets riled up about the mandatory weight restrictions and fires an email off to her bosses. She also continues to look for Stone but runs into one dead in after another. Great reading in this ever evolving series
A fast paced and funny book. This series has been great and I recommend it to those who like a bit of fun along with their mysteries. Tiffany seems to be a natural at getting to the truth and between she and Ian's questions they figure it out pretty well. Of course Tiffany's Nanna worms her way into helping out, surprisingly she too is good at getting to the truth.
There are something’s that don’t ring true in this book. But I forgive the character errors because of the return of Grandma. Tiffany Black’s recently married grandmother adds the sparkle ❇️ the book very much needed.
So overlook the stale exchanges, the stilted Stone and the change of Human Resources at the casino, Grandma saves the day. Well the book.
Another light-hearted entertaining mystery in the Tiffany Black Mysteries series, number 7 of 32 to be exact. In this edition, a presidential contender is found murdered in his temporary residence in Las Vegas. A man that Tiffany went to high school with is accused of the murder and he seeks her out to help clear his name.
I enjoyed reading this book, it's a nice cozy mystery. Tiffany is a part time private investigator she has help from her friend Ian and her Nanna. She also works in a casino. When a man is killed she has to find out who did it plus she's also trying to get information on her friend Stone who has disappeared. An easy five stars.
A R Winters doesn't disappoint love love her tiffany black stories gotta love her nanna Ian stone and Ryan love to see more on stone and tiffany and a little of Ryan thrown in can't wait for next series put she is one of my favorite authors along with seldom fern michaels janet enovich and a few more always looking forward to their next books
If the next one isn’t better the last 2 have ended it for me. The last one was 100 pages and blah. This one almost tried to make up for the lackluster prior book but just added 65 pages of 5th grade “homemade play” conversations.
Somewhat delightful read. Only a couple hundred pages and a little pricey for what there is. For the length and quality $2 to $3 would be about right if the editing was cleaned up a little, and more attention to conversations.
This book was okay. I'm a little annoyed with Tiffany and her lack of growth. Sometimes she seems really stupid. I hope she changes some in the next few books.
