CAPCOM's legendary action-horror video game series, DARKSTALKERS, in the inimitable UDON comics style! Morrigan, Felicia, Donovan and other favorite characters prepare to do battle with the maleficient Demitri, with nothing less than the fate of the world hanging in the balance! Combat, banter and seduction abound as the Darkstalkers clash in these six action-packed issues!
Some of the character concepts/designs are nicely done, but the book never quite attempts to tell a meaningful story with them. Obviously, this is all that's necessary to put them in a fighting game, but I would have hoped for a bit more care might be put into this adaptation. It's primary selling point is likely just as a vehicle for fan service.
I will never regret how wasted this is, specially given how much darkstalkers needs more popularity. They seemed good, good art above all else, and they seemed to be on the good way of a story. But then Ken had to screw Morrigan, and the story overall went as nothing.
I never played the Darkstalkers video gMe, but i wanted to give this a shot. It was a good little graphic novel. I was very interested i. The characters and the author did a good job of breaking you in to the characters. I absolutely love the art. I dont cAre what anyone says, Udon has some of the most beautiful art in the whole industry. I think where this book went a tad downhill for me was that I didnt play the video gAme so some of the character intros where lost on me. I could tell it was supposed to be a fun intro and i just didnt care that much. Overall a fun read, but i probably wont continue on.
As a lover of the Darkstalkers series, this manga by Udon is definitely a tasteful fill-in for the story of the Universe, as well as a great background for a great number of characters. The art is pretty decent, as I believe the entire book is pencilled by Alvin Lee. Definitely worth reading if you have a heart for comics and the DS series.
I'll admit it was fun to see various different fighter's back stories (Felicia is so sweet) kind of weird to see it from a western comic style. Better then the western cartoon adaption by far!
This was a good way to expand in the backstory of the characters of the game, with the great quality Udon is known for the Capcom properties adaptations.
