Two eunuchs and a virgin walk into a bar...

Orphaned as a child and desperate to belong to someone, Kinsey Fletcher will do anything to find her uncle--her last living relative. This young witch has an impenetrable bond with Colin Ward, the wolf who saved her as a child, but nothing can replace the unconditional love that was stripped from her so long ago. When Dominic, the captain of the wolf guard, is tasked to escort Kinsey to America to find this absent uncle, Colin's jealousy puts the trio at risk. Kinsey belongs to him--only to him.

But America doesn't provide Kinsey with the joy she so desperately searched for. The magickal world is corrupt and full of politics, betrayal, and lies. And now, Dominic, Colin, and Kinsey can't trust anyone--possibly not even each other. Can Kinsey find the love and belonging she desires, or will she be forced to push away both of the men who have saved her life?

The Courts of Draiochta were built in the Dark Ages to protect witches from human barbarians. But one man threatens to unravel centuries of work, and the mothers of the magick world--the Mathairs--have no choice but to hide his existence.

Two eunuchs and a virgin walk into a bar..is the snappiest tag line into a book!!! I was totally hooked just from that line!

Kinsey is from a magical factory but her skill level is essentially a squib! She can do very minor magic but her spells don't last long and they take a lot out of her. When the magical leaders, the Mathairs, request she go on a mission to trace a long lost relative, she leaps at the chance to find fmaily, no matter how remote. But when said relative is Rossi (See the Moonbound Series for more info) she may just wish she'd ypassed this mission.

Colin Ward is a Knight, a wolf and one of the said eunuchs. He's been in love with Kinsey since forever but she just can't seem to drum up the love that he wants. Dominic, Colin's half brother and high ranking knight is also selected to protect Kinsey. He has seen the damage that can be wrought when someone lacking...the right equipment shall we say tried to keep a female interested. He has no intention of going down this road again, not even with the delectable Kinsey.

But on their arrival in America, they lear that they are not the only wolves on that side of the pond and that there are other ways of living that are more flexible than the structures they are used to. Enter the Von Brandt Pack and Somewhere, Tx in general!

As the drama unfolds the trinity is fractured by jealousy, mistrust, passion and the uncovering of more of Rossi's background.

The Courts of Draiochta is fab extension of the Somewhere, Tx and Moonbound Series. There is enough overlap between the books to make the still very separate series blend together. It's going to be very interesting to see what the conniving Mathairs are up to and just what Rossi did to get exiled. Were they complicit in the way he turned out? I have so many questions that need answers!!! Kinsey is a wonderful mix of naivety, fragile courage and downright stubborn! Colin is so long suffering and a bit stalkery if I'm honest! Dominic is very much the large and in charge dominant male wolf with the bruised heart in need of mending. I need more of this series - stat!!!!

A great beginning to the Moonbound spin-off series.

When I first began reading Of Spells and Shadows I wasn’t sure where the series was headed or if it had any tie into the previous series. That understanding came much further into the book. Suffice it to say, yes there is a tie in. For further clarification, the Courts of Draiochta series takes place directly after the Moonbound series. Rather than one villain we now have a whole messed up culture permeated with self-righteous entitlement. And our main characters are the star pawns in an age-old game of politics and cover up. A lover’s triangle of two werewolves and a witch… or two eunuchs and a virgin…

In a culture where witches rule and werewolves are the glorified collared watchdogs, Colin and Dominic are half siblings. One royal the other not and yet both fated to the same outcome. Well, that is the plan anyway. Colin has been in love with Kinsey since the day he and Dominic saved her life as a child. Dominic, on the other hand, does anything and everything to avoid the state of love even familial love. One is everything you could wish for in an older brother. The other is cold and stoic. And only one will walk away with the girl.

Since the day Kinsey’s mother was felled by a tree protecting her, Kinsey has felt alone. Her one relative treats her more as a servant than as blood. Her magic is next to nothing and left her the brunt of ridicule. In her loneliness is it any wonder she’s become rather bookish? The only person Kinsey has had throughout the years is Colin. He’s the brother she never had. Yet any type of relationship between the two is forbidden. Now Kinsey has the chance to locate a missing uncle, one she never knew about. But when Kinsey and the two werewolves are sent to Somewhere, TX to locate her uncle they are dumped into a situation none of them could have foreseen. Life in America is so not the Court of Draiochta.

Rough and tough Texan cowboys meets stuffy court deceit and politics in Of Spells and Shadows. The Court of Draiochta series promises an entirely new set of possibilities and conflicts. I’m not sure where the authors plan to go next with this series but I’m definitely on board for the ride.

Okay I have to admit what drew me to this story was the cover! You pretty much nab me with anything Celtic!

But this story is so much more. This world is so beautifully woven with intrigue and mysteries that it simply swept me away!

Kinsey is a witch, but one with such nominal powers that she is sent to live in the real world - away from the court. Kinsey works as a librarian and adores ancient texts and magical books.

She has basically one friend and ally, a wolf shifter named Colin - he has been her savior and protector since she was found under the dead body of her mother as a young child.

Kinsey and Colin are charged with a mission from the Court to find and bring back a man that is said to be Kinsey's great uncle. Along with Kinsey and Colin - Colin's half-brother - Dominic is "sentenced" to accompany them on this mission.

However, as it many times is with the world of witches and shifters - all is not revealed to them about this mission.

The relationship between Kinsey and Colin is a wonderful, sweet comfortable one. While the one between Kinsey and Dominic is fraught with sexual tension and a magnetic draw that neither can fight for long. It's pretty much an 9 on my toe curling scale!

The relationship drama is set within a deeper, darker one of intrigue and mystery as these three learn more about their world than they ever knew existed and fight to survive the intent of their "Court" and the ones sent after them.

I'm literally on pins and needles waiting on the next installment.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.

I loved reading about the hidden kingdom of witches and wolves in Avebury, England. This is a place where the witches are in charge and the wolves are basically enslaved as knight protectors. The males have their sexual desires repressed as they cannot complete the deed. This appears to be a way for the witches to ensure control.
The witches learn that the dreaded Adrian Rossi, of Moonbound fame, has been reported to be in America. The witches decide to send his niece, Kinsey, along with Colin and Dominic, wolf protectors to bring Rossi back.

The two half - brothers are surprised when they are taken prisoner in Somewhere, Texas by a group of werewolves. To their knowledge there were no werewolves in America. This gets even stranger when they see how the wolves live and find that they do not work for witches or have hidden courts. When they report back that Rossi is dead, things go bad in a hurry.

Meanwhile, things are heating up between Kinsey and Dominic. This does not go over well with Colin, who has always loved Kinsey. Kinsey does not share Colin's feelings. She thinks of him as a, wait for it, brother. Ouch.

I do not want to spoil the book for you so I will quit now. If you liked the Moonbound books you don't want to miss this first in a new series.

When you hear of a spinoff of a series you've read you cant help but get excited about it. Though this is very different it is still quite fascinating and fulfilling!

Kinsey has only known loss and all she wants is to belong to a family. So when she hears of a relative she is more than willing to help out even if only for selfish reasons. Though this girl is nowhere near selfish.

Colin is a knight who has been in love with Kinsey for so long. When he is assigned to go with her to the states he is more than suspicious and more than a little concerned on her well being. He'll do anything for her.

Dominic is Colin's half brother... only biologically. They don't treat each other like family or act it. Dominic is also assigned to Kinsey as a punishment which he isn't happy about. Especially given Kinsey's lack of skill. This man is arrogant, broken, and just plain alpha. So you can't help but like him all the same.

Throw these 3 together and add a twist and you've got a great beginning to a new series sure to keep you on your toes!

Of Spells and Shadows ( Courts of Draiochta, Book #1) by Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan 5 Stars

Wow, what a great new twist with wolves and witches. I can't wait to see where this series goes. It is fascinating to read.

Dom is a knight of the court and not what a typical knight you think about. He is paired with a witch in this court for the purpose of, well that gets most interesting in the story, it is definitely different but in a great way.

Kinsey is a witch or is she? This took me a while to grasp but it all comes together in the end. Wow to think something like that occurred when she was 5.

A unique ride of mystery, suspense and a whole lot of magic. But it's the Love Kinsey has for Dom that grabbed my heart, she loves him for him and not what he can do as a man per say. It's beautiful.

Wonderful Magical Read, Must read for shifter lovers.

I read and reviewed and Advanced Reader Copy of this book by the author. Looking forward to what comes next.

This book had a different vibe to the other books written by Krystal Shannon and Camryn Rhys. It shows a different perspective of witches and wolves to those we've read about in the moonbound series and somewhere Texas series. Although all these books do tie in together in places.

I found it slow to start and did have some difficulty getting to like the characters, however once things started getting series I found myself drawn more and more into the story. I loved the integration of the somewhere Texas family into the book without them actually taking over. And the Kinsey Colin love circle was heartbreaking where the Kinsey Dominic dynamic was heart warming.

They ending has left me with more questions than answers and I really want to read more in this series and I'm hoping more into Kinsey and Dominic. I really don't want it to end where it did for them.

Two eunuchs and a virgin walk into a bar.... how can ya not enjoy a book that starts out that way. Truth is, you can't. This was a magically wonderful book from the very first chapter clear to the end. It's exciting and very fascinating. I really enjoyed how it wasn't a cookie cutter type book, it's uniqueness is one of the things that made it great. I'm really looking forward to more of this series.

Agnes, Elen and Miriam are powerful, dangerous witches, known as the Mathairs; although surrounded by wolves, they didn’t trust them or cared about their opinions. When Adrian Rossi’s name is mentioned, it invokes terror; his whole existence needs to be obliterated completely for the sake of magick. Blood and family means everything to Kinsey, so she is ecstatic when the Mathairs ask her to go to America to find Adrian; she is his great-niece, but also the bait. Colin and Dominic are to accompany her as protection. Colin has always loved Kinsey, but she only loves him like a brother, while Dominic intrigues her. Despite her mother’s power, Kinsey has practically no magick in her blood; no one knew she could cast the copy spell much less that she had a magick bag by her side at all times. While in America the group come into contact with Aaron, the Alpha of the Von Brandt Pack and Kinsey learns more about Adrian and the place he had grew up in, Courmayeur. But there should not have been any witches or wolves in America. The Mathairs had sent them into a trap, following this up by an oblivion spell; they were on some kind of vendetta mission that would likely never end. Kinsey and Dominic escape and head for Courmayeur; Kinsey can recall the years she and her mother had spent together in England in so much detail, why couldn’t she remember Italy. The Texas witches had not been able to explain Kinsey’s missing memories; they had not seen a spell, so what had robbed her of five years of her life? Kinsey learns she has missed her father by only one year; he had been alive all this time and she had never known, nor that she had grandparents. The more information Kinsey hears, the more she understands what it is her mother actually did. It was in that deep, dark place, her mother’s old copy hideway, filled with books, where Kinsey remembered breathing her first breath. But the Mathairs didn’t intend to give up; if Adrian had mated with another magickal being, the results could be catastrophic. This was a most interesting and intriguing story that enthralled me completely and one which I would have no hesitation in recommending. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Let me start by saying this. If you are familiar with Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan's Von Brandt wolves and Somewhere,Tx or their Moonbound series then this new series will be a great addition. Don't let confusion stop you from figuring it all out. It does start off sounding unlike either of those series. It's about a quarter of the way into the book before the connections really start. You will see hints here and there and just when you think you aren't reading part of the expanded world of the Moonbound series things start to click into place. Once it becomes clear how Of Spells and Shadows fits into the Moonbound series you will be amazed. The story is full of adventure, surprise, betrayal, lust, magic and secrets. I believe this series will open Camryn and Krystal's Moonbound world into unlimited possibilities. It's like a book within a book or a series within a series that will wow and amaze the reads once the two worlds collide. I am so excited for the next book in the series to be released. I'm sure it will be a smoother read since the twist has been revealed. Congratulations Camryn and Krystal for being able to pull off the twist between series so amazingly creative. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.

Of Spells and Shadows, the first in the Courts of Draiochta series, is another excellent entry in the Moonbound World created by Camryn Rhys & Krystal Shannan. This is a story of Witches and Werewolves, with a medieval-esque atmosphere set in the modern world. Kinsey and Dom are the Witch and Werewolf fighting against tradition to survive while trying to find Kinsey's last living relative. Unbeknownst to them, they are being given a task that is intended to send them to their death. With the help of Colin, the wolf who saved Kinsey as a child, and several characters readers familiar with the Moonbound series, Kinsey and Dom unravel the truth of her past.

Of Spells and Shadows is a fast paced, hard-to-put-down book, and left me waiting impatiently for the next one in the series! While it is not directly related to the events of the Moonbound Saga, and the Somewhere TX stories, a familiarity with those stories and characters does definitely increase the enjoyment of this story.

Once more the authors left us with soooo many questions and so many whys and so many oh my gods that you simply neeed need need need the next book like now!

They took us into an amazing adventure that was well written with some very known characters but also they have built a bright new complex world that is thrilling and will make you want to know more.

I have to say that i am kinda mad at the authors....please stop doing bad things to good characters!!!
~chuckles~

I reallly loved this book and the atmosphere it created and all the complexity in it and i can't really wait for the next book to come out!!
This is a new series that is heavily interwined with the previous series by these two authors so if you haven't read the moonbound series you should start there first.
A really amazing start of a new series!!!!!

This writing duo never seizes to amaze me. They write paranormal books like no other duo. After reading their Moonbound series I was excited to read this book.

Everything you could want in a paranormal book!! Witches and wolves, intrigue, and page turning excitement plus the added bonus of being in Sanctuary, TX. There is so much to this story that I can't even begin to tell you about it without spoiling it. For a book that is everything you could ask for and will keep you spellbound from beginning to end this is the one you need!!

In a world of Witches who rule supreme and use wolves as second class citizens closer to slaves. Krystal and Camyrn weave a story that will have you quickly spellbound, in a world full of excitement and intrigue.

To say we cant pick our family doesn’t mean we wouldn’t want to. The young witch that was found under the body of her mother lived almost a non existent life with her “family” they all but ignored her leaving her to her books.

The wolves Colin who’s loved her from the beginning, Dominic who barely loves himself if at all. Sets out on adventure with the young witch to find a long lost family member.

So how does the trio find answers in a world of secrets and betrayal.

A beautiful story, FULL length it did dip in holding my attention in a few spots. A lot of detail the characters full of personality and click well together and mesh into the story.

Kinsey Fletcher is a witch who lives with her Great Aunt Lydia in England. Her world is one of limited magic and many secrets. Kinsey has no idea on why her aunt doesn't want her around and what secrets are being kept from her.

Colin Ward has wanted Kinsey for years. He is a wolf that works for the royal family, The Mathairs, and is asked to go to the United States to see if he can help Kinsey find her uncle, Adrian Rossi. Accompanying them both is Dominic Atwood, the Captain of the Wolf Guard who is being punished.

What Kinsey, Colin and Dominic find in the US is many more secrets in a world so much different than their own yet with many similarities. As they begin to work with Aaron VonBrandt to discover the truth they must figure out who is working with them and who is after them.

Will the truth destroy Kinsey?

Wow!

I love the work of these two authors but I still wasn't 100% sure how this new series was going to tie into everything. It definitely went above what I was expecting. It's also going to be hard to write a review as many of the things were total surprises that I can't ruin for the reader!

I loved Kinsey and her innocence with everything. She had to put a lot of trust into Dominic, Colin and Aaron and it was interesting to see how she grew in the book. I was definitely totally shocked at the twist involved with Kinsey and I really hope we learn more about it in the next book.

Initially I really liked Colin and was uneasy about Dominic but both men would have protected Kinsey with all they had. But both men also had certain allegiances and whether they would follow their heart or allegiance was the question.

I found the Mathairs very interesting. I still really want to learn more as I was a little confused on how everything worked in England. I was trying to sort out who was related to who and who was royalty and who wasn't. It could have also been due to my lack of sleep!

This looks like it will be another great series by these ladies and I can't wait for more!!

Of Spells and Shadows by Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan is Book 1 in the Courts of Draiochta series.

If you have read Camryn and Krystals Moonbound books or The Somewhere, Texas books then you are aware of the VonBrandts and the Moonbound Curse. The Courts of Draiochta expand on this world and almost show a flip side to what we already know. We begin in England and discover the Mathairs, the British Wolves who fight for and protect the British Witches and we a found into a world of Courts, Knights, Princes, Battles, Secrets and more, reminiscent of medieval times.

It was such an interesting read and spin on a world that I'm already in love with and this book just deepens that. The chat terms are well developed, raw, damaged and have their own baggage and seeing them interact with each other and journey through the books events made for a enjoyable and satisfying experience. As well as meeting a whole bunch of new characters, it was also great catching up with some old ones.

As this is book 1, the story very clearly continues on with the upcoming book 2 where hopefully more of our questions will be answered.

Of Spells and Shadows is another great success from this dynamic duo and play on their strengths and winning formula of interesting and complex plot, intriguing characters, action/suspense and sweet and sexy romance.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

This is the first book I have read by either of these authors and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If like me you love books that has both Witches and Shifters then you're in for a treat with this one. The story has plenty of action and the twist at the end was genius. Kinsey is a witch but not a very good witch who was orphaned as a young child and is desperate to belong. She will do anything for the old crone who she has believed to be her aunt since her mother was tragically killed, that is until she learns the truth and she storms out from her Aunt's upset. And goes looking for her great uncle. She loves Colin Ward a Wolf Shifter, who has always been there for her and helped save her when her mother was killed but it's not the love he wants. Colin and his half brother are tasked to escort Kinsey to American to find her uncle. Kinsey and Dominic have an instant connection and Colin jealousy puts them all at risk as he believes she belongs to him and given enough time will grow to love him the way he wants. I don't want to tell you any more and give the story away as I hate when reviews say too much and spoil it for other readers. I am so looking forward to book two in this series.

This new series gives us Courts, Knights, Eunuchs, and oh yea we get witches who need protection or do they?
Can we say wow because we are definitely wow'd in this book. Kinsey has no family or at least she thought that and now to find out she does and oh wait for it.. he is the evil Adrian Rossi.

We have two alpha males in this one and oh wait for it they are half-brothers. They are not just wolves either. And they both love Kinsey.

This trio is off to America and what they find out makes them question everything they ever knew. Who can they trust?

My heart breaks for this threesome and I hope to read more in future books in this series. I will say it took me a few chapters to really grab what the story was trying to tell me but once it did I was hooked.

Okay so this book will tie in with a couple other books. So if you haven't read any of the Moon Bound books, you could get a little lost in names.
Kinsey Fletcher is a low grade witch with very little magic. So she has been called useless most of her life. When her mother dies and leaves her with what she thought was blood. She finds out that she may have an uncle. She is all up for the mission to find him. Only she finds out more than she bargains for while in America visiting Texas to find him. Will she find all her answers?

Dominic is a made werewolf knight. He has put all he can of his past in a tiny box and stashed it away or so he thought he did. Till basically losing his royal status job. Then sent to America with a girl he doesn't even like.... stretch that lie, he loves her but will it be enough for him to love her, even if he is a made werewolf knight? Will he even get the courage to tell her?

Colin is a made werewolf knight. Since saving Kinsey Fletcher from the fate of death. He loves her more than anything. But he can't understand why she won't return his feelings. And the old crone isn't helping matters any. Let along the high witches of court.

She was orphaned and placed with an aunt that never treated her like family. Now, she is told she has an uncle in the US and the witches need her help to bring him home. They assign two of the guard members to go with her. One is recently demoted from his position as captain. The other has been her friend for years but wants more from her. They go on a dangerous journey and it reveals who are true friends and who are actually her enemies. Kinsey finds out that she has been lied to her whole life.

I really liked Kinsey. She had a good sense of right and wrong and a funny sense of humor. Even when people hurt her, she did not want to respond in kind. Colin was her only friend but he was pushing for more. Dominic is aware of the dangers of relationships and he tries to help them and himself avoid pain but love is hard to ignore. .They have some real obstacles to face and I really enjoyed the story.

WOW! This was I have to say one of my favorite reads of 2016. When I read what this was about I was intrigued and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down!

Kinsey is a witch that doesn't have much magic and thinks her only relative is an aunt who doesn't treat her that well . The bright point in her life is her friendship with Colin but he feels more then just friendship. When she's sent to America to find an uncle she didn't know she had she accompanied by Colin and his half brother Dom. During their travels the bonds of friendship and desire are tested and Colin and Dom find out there are werewolves living there also.

The authors give you a story with characters that you get to know and also want to know more of. As you get into the story you're hit with surprise after surprise. And the ending leaves you wanting more. This is a story that if you love PNR you'll absolutely love this!

Kinsey Fletcher has always felt alone, ever since her mother’s death when she was a child, and though she may have a bond with Colin, she has struggled to find some semblance of family. Colin Ward and Dominic Atwood are half-brothers, one raised as royalty and the other a member of the Knights.
When the Mathairs, the witch council of the Court of Draiochta, send the trio to America to locate, and somehow retrieve, Kinsey’s long lost uncle, they soon find themselves in the midst of Somewhere, Texas. As they begin to put the pieces together, Kinsey soon realizes that they can’t really trust anyone, and possibly not even each other. But as Kinsey’s feelings for Dominic begin to grow, will she be able to find the love and belonging she has always been searching for here in America? Or will they be sucked back into their old lives and forced to be apart?

Of Spells and Shadows is a great read that has Warewolves, Witches and magik that takes Kinsey, Colin and Dominic from the Court of Draiochta in England to one of my favorite places - Somewhere, Texas (where the Authors have us visiting the VonBrandts) in search of Adrian Rossi from the Moonbound Series and bring him back to England

This fast paced, very intense read took me on an adventure where I didn't want to put the book down. Loved the storyline and how the authors tied the book to the Moonbound series.

Looking forward to reading Camryn Rhys and Krystal Shannan's next book in the series.

Reading the Moonbound series not necessary but I recommend

Can you trust a witch? If it is Kinsey, then yes. This new series can be confusing in the beginning if you haven't read some of the Moon Bound series. I haven't and it took some time to figure things out, but by the end I was pulled in and didn't want it to end. The story rotates around Kinsey, but we read it through several different pairs of eyes. From the beginning you learn not to trust anyone and that secrets are everywhere. And the story leaves so much for the next books. Can't wait.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Book one in the Courts of Draiochta series and I am going to be following the rest of this series. Kinsey Fletcher a young witch, Colin Ward a knight and wolf who saved her as a child and Dominic, the captain of the wolf guard as they go to America to look for her uncle. Who are the Mathairs? This is a continuation of the Von Brandt Pack of Somewhere, Texas there is jealousy , mistrust, passion and we learn more of Rossi. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
