The lie is starting to crack and break down, as Doctor Spectro makes his debut into the public villainy scene, in one way proving without a doubt captain atom’s backstory, but also providing another piece of the grand puzzle called the truth. Doctor Spectro decided to come onto the scene big by dropping his trench coat and flashing everyone with his projection light suit (lol) as he used it to make terrifying images and rob a payroll security van. In the process scaring a school bus driver and causing a bus full of kids to turn over, geez what an awful start. These actions immediately put Eiling onto the case as he can’t have someone running around realizing the truth behind captain atom, but the super expensive PR team sees the benefit of someone proving the story is real. But Eiling and even captain atom wouldn’t agree as Eiling wants to find and deal with this guy permanently, and atom goes to visit the injured kids in the hospital as he feels responsible a lie would turn into reality. Lucky for Eiling in the middle of his meeting with the PR team he received a call from Spectro as he wanted to meet.
After driving into the middle of nowhere, as directed by Spectro, Eiling is met with the projected hologram of Spectro. A deal has been struck for a bit of blackmail from the us government to keep Spectro quiet, but of course he isn’t going to meet in person. As Eiling started to drive his jeep through the countryside back captain atom used information from the office to catch up with him and then pick up his hero and bring it somewhere secluded to talk in private. He wanted to know what the situation was with Spectro, and Eiling decided to lie and claim they setup the Spectro business to make his story real, and the bus of kids was an accident out of hand. Atom isn’t taking a word Eiling says as legit and decides to let him go on his way, as he splits off to the police station investigating Spectro to see if he can find any evidence leftover from the crime scene. There he meets a man running down the taxi that Spectro stole, it seems that Spectro tried to wash it down but missed an area under the fender that still contains a specific mud that he was able to trace to a specific hilly area nearby.
Next thing we know Soectro’s nice dream as he is laying in a bed of cash is interrupted by captain atom yelling at him outside. It’s honestly such a funny scene seeing Spectro jump up and freak out that captain atom is outside his house and ready to fight him. He even catches himself thinking like a super villain as he dawns the tacky suit and makes for the rest of his gear. Atom watches as he busts out of his barn riding one of Bivolo’s flyers, but this first attempt turned out to be a complete hologram…but round two and the real Spectro seemed to be a bit easier as captain atom immediately took him down and saw through the Xenomorph design he tried to project…lucky for our hero there was also a documentary crew nearby filming the entire fight.
Now that Spectro is in jail Eiling arranged for a final payoff to be delivered for his silence…BUT Eiling isn’t trying to rely on that completely and he is also arranging a prison hit and to make it look like Bivolo arranged it out of anger for Spectro stealing his stuff. Two separate failed assassination attempts were tried, leaving Spectro in a broken and stitched up state. Spectro finally asked to talk to captain atom and he begged for his help, or he would reveal the truth behind atom. So atom did the sane thing and went to the prison yard and used his quantum heat to heat the air around everyone and threaten them to leave Spectro alone or he would come back. This lie is getting quite difficult to upkeep.

Captain Atom (1986-) #6 confronts General Eiling setting conflict with the character but showing Captain Atom is no slave! :D He confronts Dr Spectro and in the process almost breaking cover and showing other elements of the character such as dark side though used for light side reasons which give the story three-dimensions an set things up for future books! :D
