This was a pretty good issue as we get back into the swing of things from the mess that was millennium. This issues focuses on two primary stories, the continued major force project and Nathaniel taking a trip to project majestic up in the Arctic to visit his son. The real juice is in the major force project, so I’m going to mention the second story first.
Nathaniel going to visit his son is a pretty basic story. He gets to the remote base for an “inspection” only to find out that Randy is on a 3 man mission to retrieve a device that fell to earth. It seems to be an extraterrestrial probe that is constantly sending signals. But there is a problem, as only after the crew left and got caught in a snow storm did the rest of the base realize the Russians sent snow tanks to get the same device. Now it’s a loan 3 man team against a legion of tanks and they have no way of knowing about it. So of course captain atom runs into action and uses the snow cover as coverage to cause problems for the Russians and allow his son and team to get the device and haul it back. Atom ends up breaking the ice under the tanks and causing them to fall into the hole left behind, and by taking out missiles from a fighter jet that was sent as backup to stop the US team from getting back to their base. Finally once everyone was back at the base, Nathaniel had a very formal conversation with Randy, as Randy agreed to not pass judgement until Nate has the time to get the proof he needs that he is innocent.
But now for the real juice of the issue, the major force projext. Exactly one year and one day after the failure of project captain atom a new subject was chosen and exposed to the same test that Nate was. But this time the subject had 200% more metal alloy to encase him, compared to project captain atom. Luckily and unluckily the results were the same, and 18 years later we follow the team as they setup sensors and devices to knock out and pick up major force once he materialized. Once Eiling, Megala, and a new Lt on the team called Allard, got the hump of metal that major force started as back to the base they immediately started with all the plans they wish they could of done for captain atom. While major force is still permeable they started to put an array of technology within his body. This includes full camera and microphone units to hear and see everything as long as he is in range of their tracking stations. They also fitted a respiratory control so that they can sedate him if he ever gets out of hand, and the final piece is a prototype bomb about the size of an Adam’s Apple that will drive an explosive force inward and blow his head clean off. But why do they want all these safeguards? For that we have to look at the man, and the best way to see him is unfortunately through the eyes of his son. Major Forces name prior was Zmeck and his son watched as his father raped and killed his mother. He was a former supply sergeant that was court marshaled, convicted, and sentenced to life. The perfect test subject for the military to use as a Guinea pig, and just like with Nate the test proceeded, appeared to have failed, and Zmeck was wiped out of existence. Until today when it turns out that Lt Allard is actually Zmeck’s son and only joined the new crew so he could be there personally to blow his head clean off. As he was preparing to hit the button to do this, Eiling approached him. Eiling of course knew his family history and hired him on anyway as he knew the man would not bring any harm to their subject until he could do it himself. Pretty flawed logic tbh, but Allard agreed to Eiling’s terms that when the day comes he will be the one to kill major force, and in the meantime they have a weapon capable of fighting captain atom.

OH MAN! Finally getting introduced to Major Force! BUT WHAT THE HECK?! I knew he was a very irritable person from what I've read of him in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, and the few voice lines from DC Universe Online... I had no idea about this origin of his.
