Quite surprised, this was a level better than the first Jonaxx novel I read. It was an okay read.

There are a few points that bothered me, the intoxicated non-consensual kiss. At yung usage ng baritone word in describing Ali’s voice 🥲. If I had a drink every time it was mentioned I’d be wasted now HAHAHA. And I was hoping to see Ivo further character development, because that behavior he showed to Aia was jaw droppingly selfish and a very toxic way to begin a relationship…

Jonaxx's fetish for pairing adults with minors is weird af.

And I really, really don't understand the hype over Jonaxx's stories. I probably read thousands of books in Watty both popular and not, and how Jonaxx is so popular is beyond me. I've discovered unpopular authors in Watty with barely any reads who could write 10x better.

Like Jonaxx just basically regurgitates her stories over and over again. She'd just change a few details and voila! She has a 'new' story that was just a recycled version of her past stories. Literally same plot, same characters just different names, and same setting all the d*mn time! How her readers don't see and don't get tired of that sh*t is amazing!

I've discovered her stories when I was 14 and I didn't like her writing then, and I certainly still don't like it at 25. And honestly no matter how many times I try to give her a chance I just couldn't like her stories. Her love stories are so toxic. They're horror stories veiled as romance!

This book is like Ali in every way.

Intense.

Everything is too much.

He must be my most beloved male character among all jonaxx books.

So loved it!

Hindi ko tinapos. 21 year old guy kissed a 15 year old girl ??? So uncomfortable for me. Hindi ko ir-recommend. Sana ginamit ang big platform to give awareness for the readers, especially minors, that they shouldn't engage with people who are on legal age na when it comes to sexual or intimate things and vice versa. 1 star for the way of writing.

edit: legally aged people should leave minors alone*

Love it so much!

i have i high expectations for this story because it was so hyped up, but to my disappointment, it was not really all that. it does not deserve the hype. and there are a lot of scenes that will leave u so uncomfortable. first of all, what makes jonaxx think that pairing minors with grown ass adults is okay? it has always been like this in this series age gap trope okay lang sana kung legal na yung girl pero hindi, and to think na ali is 21 and aia is just 15 tapos hinalikan na siya ni ali and was also touching her private parts is insane. who in their right mind would think na tama yun? it's so disturbing and uncomfortable.

Once again, Jonaxx didn't fail me with this story. I was so ecstatic and so overwhelmed when I read the first book of the Costa Leona series that's why I am keeping an eye for its second book. And yep, I couldn't wait any longer so I decided to just read it even if it's still updating. Well, I've been thinking that the story is already on chapter 48, and basing on her previous story, it usually ends with chapter 50, so I thought that it'll be completed once I reached chapter 48. And guess what? Haha, it turns out that I reached chapter 48 in just one day, oh well, I can't concentrate with my work if I know that there's still some remaining chapters that I haven't read.

Once in a while, I always find myself craving for some tagalog romance stories (specifically, from Jonaxx) especially if I've read a book that made me feel disappointed or have given me too much emotion.

As usual, I don't know what to expect. I've enjoyed the first book from this series, so I am really expecting that I will feel the same way too, or even greater in this story. And tadaaah! It totally did. The plot, the scenes and the execution of lines were just perfect. What do I expect eh? Jonaxx is really so good at it.

Losing one's memory was never new to me. I've read books and watched some movies with the same plot before so the idea is quite cliché for me. When I read about the "memory loss" thingy in its first chapter, I should have felt disappointed right? But to my surprise, I didn't. Why is that? Well, Jonaxx haven't failed me and I am confident that she'll never fail me now. And yep, I was right. I never thought losing one's memory could be this exciting, so romantic, so intense, while at the same time so haywire.

I am never a fan of a relationship with no labels or the one started without courtship. I may not look like it, but I am very conservative and is a "Dalagang Pilipina". This story is definitely the exact opposite of what I like but surprisingly, it still able to catch my FULL attention. I am so excited to know more what's going to happen next that's why I was so fast and able to finish it in a day even if I was quite busy at work.

I am not fond of getting pimples, but sometimes, I feel proud of it. Why is that? Because it's a sign that I truly enjoy a story 'coz obviously, I can't sleep without finishing it. (My eyebags doesn't count because it's somewhat permanent, haha lol)

This story contains some "sexy" scenes and I can't help but blush, haha. What I also love about the author is that with every story that she writes, it's not just her age matures, but also her way of writing her stories (especially the "sexy" scenes, haha). I'm not usually a fan of New Adult Romance because they usually contains abundant "sexy" scenes which (for me) destroys the whole story, but with Jonaxx, na ah ah. I learn to somewhat love it (not the abundant "sexy" scenes but the genre, haha), but only when I am reading her stories. Unlike other Adult Romances, her's retain the story. It didn't destroy the whole essence of her story and doesn't just revolve around those "sexy" scenes. There's so many events and exciting scenes in this story that even if it has quite long 50 chapters, I am still craving for more.

She also introduces her characters briefly and you can easily keep track of them because she don't usually introduces so many of them in one story, though sometimes I find it hard to remember their names (especially that I'm not usually good with names), but good thing she provides easy to remember nicknames for them. ALL her male leads never fails to makes me squeal in delight and act like a complete lunatic. Even as I am writing this review, I can't help the stupid grin in my face because I keep on imagining them. All of them are likeable and I can't even pick one, because obviously, they're all my dream guys, haha. I don't have any idea how she does that, 'coz I can't think of any celebrities or someone from the internet I find interesting but only her characters, haha.

I don't know where I started to stop mentioning about her female leads (I think for this review?), because obviously, I keep on saying the same things about them, haha. If you don't know why, don't worry, it's positive and not a negative thing. So I guess, it's really just ok if I skip them. (Haha, I think I just want to think that there's no female lead and it's just me)

And lastly, this story didn't just bring out the lunatic in me because of those blushing-worthy romantic scenes and lines but it also made me cry, huhu. I didn't cried because it's aweful, but because of the emotional scenes especially on the last chapter. It's just so heartbreaking yet fulfilling at the same time and I can't help but feel so sorry for Ivo (third party). Don't worry dude, I'm still available, haha sucker.

I know there's no such thing as perfect, but with this story, I think there really is. That said, this story is highly recommended. You can read it for free in Wattpad. Link is provided above and just below this post. Enjoy reading!

This by far, is one of the most well-written masterpieces of Jonaxx. I loved how I felt I was in Aia's shoes, how her lost memories also confused me. It felt like I was Aia, and oh god I love the transitions! I also loved how Ali was such an intense person, intensely loyal, loving, and consistent. Lord, when is it my turn?

This is a must read, immensely wonderful and well executed. Kudos to the author! Hindi ko man lang na feel na spoon-fed siya, kase hundi talaga ganon! I was given the chance to unravel the story chapter by chapter, just as how Aia was able to reclaim her lost memories. Hays. I love this story 💗

"...his eyes told me that this, too, isn't easy for him. That if I was bleeding, he's dying."

I would honestly like to give this a five (higher 4.5 on my rating scale). Five stars for Ali (probably a six). However, it does not take only one character for a romance story to work - not that I hate Aia, I just find that her character pales in comparison to Ali's fiery one (though they do have chemistry, but I think Ali would have chemistry with everyone).

I would have probable given this a five star if not for Aia's indecisiveness (or push and pull thoughts towards Ali). Okay, she has amnesia and I couldn't blame her pero things could've gone different if she trusted Ali more. Parang all throughout the series, it was Ali who was doing all the hard work, it was Ali who was hurting, pero ano? He always f*cking comes back for her. Pahinging isang Ali please?

"Destiny has its own way of writing things. Just when I've written it on the shore, that Ivo is my future, Ali's already written in the stars for me."

Despite that, sobrang love ko 'tong story, it maybe slow paced sa beginning pero once it built its momentum, tuloy tuloy na. And trademark Jonaxx na ata yung magwawala yung butterflies sa tyan mo and you'll find yourself smiling like mad kahit madaming tao sa paligid - I found out that mas grabe yung naging epekto sa'kin ng Waves of Memories kumpara sa iba (even more intense than the feelings I had with Scorching love - which I gave a higher rating). It's all Ali I tell you.

Damn, the Costa Leona Series just keeps getting better and better. On to the next one.

p.s. I'm thinking of reserving a spot for Ali sa aking elusive book boyfriends shelf, but saving it after ko mabasa ang buong CLS (I have this rule na isang fave lang kada Jonaxx series)

I would rate this book, 4.2 just because I could think of little 'loopholes' in the story. I understand this because having a lead character with a medical condition (esp. amnesia) is very hard to write about. Writing in their perspective is really a roller coaster. I want to commend the author though because you pulled this off so well! I am honestly so proud of you <3 I already read 7 of your works and I must say that this one is so different and unique in a VERY GOOD way. You really explored and went beyond your 'box'. In your past stories, I've already noticed a 'trend'. I liked most of them (loved some too!) but I was really looking for 'more'. I want to see you outside of that trend and this book showed that to me!! All characters developed so well and IT IS SUCH A PAGE TURNER. I can't get it off my mind!!! I can't wait to read more of your works. <3

"Just when I've written it on the shore, that Ivo is my future. Ali's already written in the stars for me."

- my favorite quote from the book !

This book is my favorite Costa Leona story among the series! Kudos to how Jonaxx seamlessly transitioned from past to present and vice versa. The first chapter hooked me with its uniqueness and continued to pique my interest for each part.

The amnesia trope in this book was well done, and the build-up of the story was great as it properly executed how Aia got her amnesia and answered all her questions.

I also liked the symbolism used in the story, such as the death of Ivo & Aia's dogs, implying the end of their relationship and how Ali was with her burying the pets to indicate that with this end, there is a new beginning, and that is Ali.

Although it can be frustrating to witness a "will they or won't they" relationship, I enjoyed the beginnings of Aia's denial towards Ali since she already had formed a mutual connection with Yvo. However, just like in real life, love comes unexpectedly and in Aia's case, it's Ali. Yvo was just an infatuation for Aia. She was in love with the idea of who Yvo was, and when he showed his real self to Aia, which was a selfish and controlling person in regards to her dreams, Aia knew he wasn't the one, and I liked that she didn't pursue anything with him knowinng she wouldn't lived the life she wanted if she had stayed with him

Ali's story is probably the best among the Mercadejas clan. I liked how selfless he is towards his relatives and to Aia. Aside from the obvious problematic age gap they have, Ali lives up to being one of the greatest jboys. As for Aia's character, she was okay. She can be frustrating at times, but in the end, all is well.

My favorite moments of this book are mostly when they were in Carles, especially the rain scene. I loved the connection they made with the people there and how Penny was introduced to the story. It was great and a page-turner. The aftermaths of Carles when they left and Aia started to remember felt a bit flat and weren't as much of a page-turner as Carles was for me.

This is where the push-and-pull between Aia and Ali is shown, be it past or present. It was getting annoying with how repetitive the plot felt with how Aia was always running away when she encountered a problem. The writing of the spicy scenes is a room for improvement. Having read over 20 Jonaxx Stories, the scenes are redundant as it follows the same formula like her previous stories.

Despite this, the book was an enjoyable read that their wedding in Carles left me crying, especially with Yvo's line that redeemed his character.

More on the things I enjoyed was Penny and Aia's friendship. She really lives up to being a favorite among the readers, and the demand for her story, specifically with Ethan, is a must!

Overall, this book is what I typically recommend to those who want to explore the Jonaxx universe. It's a must-read from her, considering her writing in this has impactful lines that'll make you emotional.

It's one of the painful jonaxx stories. The early chapters hurts so bad. The pain you feel when Aia is still trying to remember and Ali is afraid to take risks because he wants to protect Aia. The kind of pain where Aia is bleeding, Ali is dying.

It amazed me how much he can forgive everyone who hurt him, easily. It amazed me how he stayed silent whenever he's in pain; he never expected anyone to notice he's hurt.

It's just beautiful how Aia fell for Ali's cruel side, his playful side. The way she fell harder because he patiently braced the pain she gave while she's hurting. The way he constantly reminds her that relationship doesn't work without communication and honesty.

I cried so hard when i read Ali's POV, grabe ka sakit.

The book showed understanding, forgiveness, patience, and sincerity. Ali showed me that love should be freeing. Love has no walls, ceiling, or floor.

And when Ali said na he wants Thraia to choose him not because she can only cling to him, but because she loves him. That even when she has other choices, she has freedom, she has problems, she'd definitely choose him without hesitations. Not for obligations. Not for an invisible commitment. Not for anything. But for the love she's feeling, HITS DIFFERENT. 😭

When he's willing to sacrifice his riches because Thraia is his everything. When he chose to live a simple life with Aia as a fisherman bcs of Aia's condition when in reality, he's a CEO. Their patago escapades. His respect for Aia's decision to keep them private. 💚

The first Mercadejas story. The best transition jonaxx executed. A story of pain, patience, understanding, letting go, and love. A story that honors memories. A story that resembles each dance on the rain. A story that will heal you.

My walking green flag MERC!!

This story is full of flashback but it doesn’t preclude having a good storyline. The transitions of scenes is so lit that you need to understand and read thoroughly so you don't get lost throughout the story.

That's one of the reason why I do love Jonaxx's works. She do not get confused or lost sa flow ng story nya although it's still on going. She knows her story and character so well that she can keeps it up to the end.

It also doesn't sit only in one setting. It gives us a glimpse of Ali and Aia in Carles, Ali and Aia in Costa Leona and Ali and Aia in Manila. A lot of people that we learned to love... Penny, Ethan, Solomon and Athena and all their friends in Carles.. but also people the we don't like either.. ehem, Domitilla and Lynea.. 🤭

This story is the mere representation of that bible verse "Love is patient and kind... It does not insist on its way". Just as how Ali patiently waits for Aia to remember everything. Ali may have lied at first to protect Aia, but he chooses to give her body the decision of when she should remember even though he can tell her everything at that time. He even heed to her request to go back to Costa Leona and do things that can possibly strain herself too much to bring back her lost memories and might forget him completely.

And as the bible verse also said "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.", their love for each other endures all the trials, all the doubts, all the heartaches and eventually Aia finds her way back to Ali. This is probably one of my top-tier in Costa Leona Series, but they are all so good that makes it hard to choose..

3.5 actually the plot gave me rollar coaster of emotions lol. i don’t like how young aia was and already experiencing things. nonetheless, each characters tho was well written and relatable esp ali!! omg this man— wonder if there’s also a man like him in real world(amfee!)? very patient and loving man UGH! the fact he got hurt because of aia’s words and yet it didn’t stop him from loving her. he was so patient with aia huhu

for aia hmmmmm i have so much to say about this girl lol hahaha. young aia don’t like her. young aia can’t deal with her emotions kasi nga bata pa. and what she did to ivo and ali hays—so wrong!!! she hurt ali because of ivo and vice versa. she gives in to ali’s gentle actions yet cannot accept that she likes him and always rejects him???
this made ali confused:((( he even asked if she’s sure whenever she chooses ali, my man is traumatised. thooo i like the aia when she lost her memories cause she’s frank and kinda deals with her emotions well compared dati. and unpopular opinion, the way she treated ali was valid as someone who lost her memories and literally has no one to talk to about the past except ali.

i also don’t like ivo’s character in the story hehehe sorry!
he’s selfish and self-centered. okay but as a reader and knows where he’s coming from his feelings valid. what lacked in the story is their closure!

okay, reading the story and i realised aia chose ali not just because of the past but also the present. yung line na wala siyang naalala na pinili niya si ali but she’s choosing ali in the present?!?! 🥺 anw, this story for me is def a slow burn and not a fan of that kind of stories which i read this for months hahaha

I’ve tried many times to read Waves of Memories by Jonaxx, but I always ended up stopping. It was just too painful. The part where Aia couldn’t remember Ali broke me. Imagine loving someone so much, and they look at you like you’re a stranger, that scene crushed me.

But when I finally pushed myself to finish it, I was overwhelmed. The story pulled me in completely. The scene where Ali waited for Aia outside her house in the rain, hoping she would remember even a little piece of their past, that shattered me. And that beach moment, when Aia was slowly drawn to him without knowing why, it made my chest ache in the most beautiful way.

This book isn’t just about romance. It’s about lost memories, deep pain, and the hope that love will still find a way. I cried, I smiled through the pain, and I felt every word like it was written for me. Jonaxx made their connection so raw and real, like no matter how much time or distance, they were meant to find their way back.

Waves of Memories hurt me, healed me, and stayed with me. It’s one of those stories that I’ll carry for a long time

Can I still have an Ali even if I have a Sibal, please?

I could not for the love of men could explain how much I envied Thraia for having Ali Mercadejas in her life even if she didn't remember him. (I'm going to cry!) I wish all men were like Ali Mercadejas or like all Jboys so women would be treated right in this world.

But once again, I felt betrayed by my own self because I told myself I wouldn't cry while reading this book. Though most of my friends here on bookstagram told me that this is one of the saddest books in the Costa Leona Series, and yes, I totally agree. Seeing as how Ali sacrificed most of his possessions just to be with Thraia was just everything to me!

I love how Jonaxx wrote the epilogues of her books in the point of view of the male leads just so we could get a glimpse of how they love their leading ladies.

ali and aia are one of my best couples, no question.

waves of memories shows love in every form— patience, longing, forgiveness, choosing each other even when it’s hard. the transitions between past and present make their love feel whole, like every version of them exists at once.

one line stayed with me the most: “it’s easy to say those three words when you’re happy, so hard when you’re in trouble. and even a lot harder to identify when you really think about it.” it perfectly captures ali and aia. their love isn’t just spoken— it’s proven, tested, and lived.

they love each other in every single way that matters, and that’s why they stay with me.

One of my go-to re-read book in Wattpad.

I love how the story started from the past and you'll be so hooked to read the next update because you'll never really know what happend. Feeling ko nga ako si Aia while reading, may amnesia din.

Again on the list of "San pwede makabili nito" boy si Ali. Very selfless and patience. He loves Aia so much.

I also love the side story of Ethan and Penny, the best friend for both Aia and Ali.

One of the best stories I’ve read that is written by Jonaxx, and so far, this story have the most aesthetically and pleasing way of transitioning to one scene from another.

The outbursts of pain and love makes it more good to read it all over again. There are lessons, too, that you’ll get. Amazing book, recommend this to read— also it’ll be awesome if you’ll read the Costa Leona Series by number. This was so good.

MY MOST BELOVED HERO.
I read it in 2019 and up until now Ali has giving me hangover. I reread it a while and it always gives me the feeling that only the book can make me feel. If other people can't understand the book, I understand it very well. The transition of the book is a chef's kiss. The best book I read. The best writing in all Costa Leona it's poetic that it touched you like a feather. This needs 10 stars.
