Another installment in the DC series, but one that finally showcases a little more of Megan Linden's skills at writing angstier, meatier stories (I hope to see more of that in the future). Not that I have anything against fluff - in fact, fluffiness of the initial volumes was a definite draw - but this time we get to follow a couple with a much more realistic and essential conflict. Pascal is a politician, but he's out, and the spotlight means that his dating life is severely cramped (and that his choices need serious consideration). Jeremy, a former soldier, is in the closet (and arguably somewhat homophobic), to the point where he hides his gayness from his gay-and-out cousin, his gay co-workers, and basically everyone else who isn't Pascal. Major drama fodder.
I think there are some really good scenes and character explorations in this volume. I also think that my personal feelings on the subject of staying in the closet may have made this a little less enjoyable for me. I also had some doubts about certain highly spoiler-y plot twists (or character choices), but at the end of the day, I rooted for the characters and wanted them to get over the real, recognizable obstacles standing in the way of their HEA or even HFN.
(On the bright side, it was nice to see a character in the series who is not in love with Sam ;))
