I enjoyed this book. Would I make any of the recipes. Probably not but it was fun to read them and think about the difficulties that women had cooking in those days. Lack of large stores like today to get their ingredients. The necessity to create from scratch. The lack of reliable means of cooking. Methods of making meals was beginning to change but it was still a chore to provide good meals.

Very short

I love reading old cookbooks but this 9 volume set is barely equal to one good book. The recipes are good but you would have to be a very good cook to make any of them.
