Resisting Gravity

Rate this book
Eighteen-year-old Sophia Michaels is officially done.

Done with the pitying stares, the endless therapy appointments, and living under her parents' microscope. So when she gets her acceptance letter to a university across the country, Sophia tosses her clothes in a bag and says sayonara, ready to leave everything burning in the California sun.

First order of business: convince her roommate not to report her barely-authorized cat, Poe. Whether said roommate sacrifices Sophia's panty-pilfering feline to the pagan gods would be Sophia's biggest worry if not for the hitch. The GPA-jeopardizing hitch with a chip on his shoulder and fifty percent of Sophia's Psychology grade in his hands.

When Sophia learns the devastating truth behind Landon's wristbands, there's hardly a moment before trouble comes a 'knocking. A dangerous stalker from Landon's not-so-past appears, seeking revenge for Landon's actions at an ill-fated party four years ago. With a psychopath on the loose, not only is Sophia's budding relationship with Landon on the line, but her life itself hangs in the balance.

Content Warning: addiction, drowning, finding a family member dead & mentions of attempted suicide

I remember first stumbling across this book on Wattpad years ago now, I used to read faithfully read the book chapter by chapter as it was put up on Wattpad and I remember thinking to myself, I hope one day it gets published because I'd love to own this book. Whilst this book is definitely has a focal point on the romance, there's also some dark themes that are important to the story and its characters which may be triggering for some people.

I still adored the characters this time around, Raven and Sophia's friendship is amazing and I loved Jesse and Landon still this time around. There were some typos/missing words here and there and I wasn't a huge fan of the Epilogue jumping over to all the important characters. BUT I still adored this book and I adored Sophia and Landon's friendship and watching them realise they like each other. I'd say this is perfect if you're looking for a New Adult book which is fast paced and are comfortable with the content warnings listed at the top.

It made me smile, but the plot was really circular. I don’t want to read the story again, but I would read more from the author.
