Out of Olympus #2

A Scent of Greek

Rate this book
When the god of wine and ecstasy, Dionysus, callously dumps his latest conquest, the mortal Ariadne, the goddess Hera has had enough. She robs Dionysus of his memory to teach him a lesson in humility.

Ariadne is deeply hurt after Dionysus dismisses their night of passion as "just sex" and doesn't want to see her anymore. When she finds him bloodied and beaten and suffering from amnesia, she quickly forms a plan to get back at him. As she pretends to be his fiancée, Ariadne makes Dionysus believe he loves her. But the longer the charade continues, the more difficult it becomes to really see who teaches whom a lesson.

And what if Dionysus gains his memory back? Will there be hell to pay for her deception, or can a mortal woman truly win a god's love?

I dare say I liked this better than the first!!

Ladies!! Have you ever had a guy you started to fall for and then as soon as you give him ur goods he dumps you?!! Have you ever wanted to get revenge on said loser??? Well read this and you'll get your fix!!

In this wonderful sequel to A Touch of Greek Ariadne has finally met the one. After a major heart break the previous year from her ex-fiancee she's finally opened her heart and her bed to the ultra sexy Dio. When he doesn't call her the next day she's distraught..of course. Wanting to confront the loser she finds the ass a the bar flirting with a couple of bimbo's and what does he do when he see's her???You guessed it...he dumps her! Once leaving the bar later on that night she finds the cad in the alley behind the bar...all beat up and having no memory of who he is and how he got there. She she decides to tell him she's his fiancee!! Yeah...No kidding...LOL!! And let the good times ROLL!!!

Dionysus or Dio, is a philanderer....a complete womanizer. He has a one-nigh-stand rule....once he scores with a chick he dumps her. For two weeks now he's been putting the moves on Ariadne....and tonight is the night it finally pays off. He's never spent this much time trying to get a woman in his bed and he's quite put off by it. After his one night of bliss with the lovely Ari he starts getting these feelings that he's quite unfamiliar with. He's not sure one night will ever be enough for him with this woman and it scares the shit out of him so he dumps her!

Hera....wife of Zeus and stepmpother to Dio saw what Dio did to the poor Ariadne and is fed up with his philandering ways. In her eyes...he's just like his father and decides to teach him a lesson. So she wipes his memory and helps Ari execute her plan to finally destroy the God of wine and ecsatcy and give him a taste of his own medicine.

I loved loved loved this addition to the Out of Olympus series! I laughed sooooooo much!! Ari really taught Dio a lesson. He really deserved it cuz he was a complete ass!! You really have to read it to know what Im talking about..dont wanna spoil anything. But when Ari told Dio that they were abstaining from sex til marriage and that his drinking wine was the cause I chuckled! But when the poor Dio actually went to an AA meeting just so he could finally get in her good graces...I nearly fell of the BED!!! Im sorry...It was hilarious to me:)))

Anyhoo....Please go read this book!! I enjoyed it sooo much!! I really missed Tina's stories and reading this reminded me of why she's one of my favorites!!

A modern twist to the Greek mythology about Dionysus and Ariadne. I enjoyed reading Greek mythology when I was younger, however, I've never came across the one about Dionysus and Ariadne. However, their story was mentioned in Christy Caldwell's Always Proper, Suddenly Scandalous. It was nice to see Greek gods and goddesses in modern day society. I would have enjoyed reading this book more if it had focused a little more on the romance and relationship between the leads. The intimate scenes are a bit more on the erotic side. Each time the Dionysus kisses Ariadne, things get quite steamy. Like, really? Why can't it just be a simple, sweet kiss that doesn't lead to any sort of groping?

Dionysis, son of Zeus, womanizer, self centered god of Wine & Ecstasy wooos Ari until he gets her to to have sex with him...scared at how she makes him feel....he sneaks out out of her bed in the middle of the night.

Ari tracks him down and finds him flirting with two young, sexy women. He shoos her away and tells her that it meant nothing and she is better off without him. He is not the commitment type and has a rule...one night man-He enjoys the pursuit but once she "does her" he is done with her.

Dio's step-mother decides to teach him a lesson and take away his memory and give him amnesia. Ari takes advantage of him and tells him she is his fiance. He spends the next few weeks trying to find things to jog his memory until he meets up with his friends who help him return his memory and get rid of his amnesia.

At first he is mad but then realizes that during his amnesia he has changed and become a better man. He also realizes that he has come to love Ari so he keeps his secret about his returned memories and god status and pushes for a wedding to her....planning everything down to the last detail.

Ari has a secret of her own. She was engaged to a man who took money for the wedding from her parents and took off with it. She was left at the alter and her family was humiliated. With Hera's help starts to believe that Dio's set up this wedding as a way to pay her back and does not believe that he loves her.

What a mess....but this book has a HEA and everything is resolved. It is a nice second book to the first: A Touch of Greek (Out of Olympus #1) by Tina Folsom and I assume this is an ongoing series. Triton from book one and Dio's from this book are friends with Hermes and Eros....I would imagine one of them may be the subject of the next in this series.

It is a fun, easy read...great premise, plot and you get lost in the story and I love the characters.....but it has some cheesy romance novel dialog and is at times difficult to accept. I loved Tina Folsom's Scanguard Vampire Series but found that far superior to this series.

Owh, what in Hades sake!!!!

Love those Greeks

Good read, I love Greek Mythology and romance novels so this was perfect. I read this book some years ago and I just listen to the audio version and I remembered why I love it.
January 22, 2013
I was kind of disappointed with this book. I really loved the first book of the series, but this one was just an OK read for me. I couldn't connect with the female character Ariadne at all. I know the author was trying for innocent and vulnerable, but to me she came off as desperate and needy. She claims to be so in love with a man she has been seeing for only 2 weeks. She knows really nothing about him (where he came from, his job, his friends). She doesn't even know his apartment number, just his address because he had a case of wine delivered and she memorized it. We even find out that the only time he's even been in her apartment was the night they had sex for the first time. But after that earth-shattering sex with a near-stranger she decides to open her heart and assume he'll be around forever.

While I thought Dionysus was a cad for loving and leaving her, I had to admit that he had a valid reason to be freaked out by her sudden clinging after sex. When he wonders to himself what he did to give her the impression that he'd be around forever, I had to agree. I didn't see it, and felt she was foolish for falling for someone after 2 weeks. Two months, maybe. But not 2 weeks. The majority of the book has Ariadne talking about how he needs to change, and how much she loves this "new person" he's become. So, which is it? Did she love him before, or did she fall in love with him when he acted the way she was manipulating him to be? She kept saying he didn't deserve her respect before he lost his memory. Well, she didn't deserve his after.

I guess by the end it all works out, but I confess that I spent most of the book waiting for Dio to get his memory back and make her own up to lying to him. I know Hera pushed her into a lot of it, but not all of it. I expected Ariadne to fight a little harder to be the better person and I was really disappointed by the outcome. Don't even get me started on him deciding she would get pregnant without even asking her if it's alright first.

Vikki’s Musings

I actually purchased the Kindle version of A Scent of Greek in 2013, but for some reason I never read it. That surprised me since I normally devour Ms. Folsom’s books. Recently I added the audio version and decided to listen/read it, and I am so glad I did. What a fantastic book. This story had me giggling and at times laughing out loud. Now I can’t wait to read the next book in this delightful series. In fact, I just downloaded the Kindle version and purchased the audio book as well.

Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy has a rule. He only has one-night stands. When he meets Ariadne, a wine merchant, he soon finds out she is not going to be an easy conquest, but he is so attracted by her, he invests two weeks into getting her in his bed by wining and dining her every night. When she finally gives in to him and lets him make love to her, he does his love ‘em and leave ‘em act, slipping out of her apartment after she falls asleep.

There is one problem, Ariadne has fallen in love with Dio and when she awakens the next morning and finds him gone, she assumes he may have had to get to work. When she does not hear from him at that day, she goes to several bars where she has contracts with looking for him. When she finds him, he callously gives her the cold shoulder. With several of her customers watching, she does not want to embarrass herself and turns to leave, but she is so shaken the bar owner suggests she go to her office.

Unaware that his evil stepmother, the goddess Hera, has had enough of his womanizing ways and has stepped in to teach him a lesson, he heads to the men’s room, only to be dragged out of the bar and accosted by two men. Hera wipes his memory and puts thoughts of revenge in Ariadne’s mind when she discovers Dio bruised and bleeding in the alley.

As the old saying goes: Hell has no fury like a woman scorned! Will Ariadne get Dio to fall in love with her only to leave him, or will the magic between them weave its spell?

When Dio’s character is first introduced, I did not expect to like him, especially when he treats Ariadne so cruelly, but Tina Folsom soon had me falling in love with the rascal. I loved seeing him get a taste of his own medicine for a change, when Hera puts idea in Ariadne’s head to have him help her friend out by waiting tables. How lowering for a god! That had me laughing out loud.

I liked Ariadne’s character from the start, and in the beginning I wanted her to teach Dio a lesson he would never forget, but her character was just too nice and her true nature wins out over the mind games Hera tries to play. I was soon rooting for this enchanting couple’s ‘happily ever after’.

Eric G. Dove is a fantastic narrator, and his smooth mellow voice drew me in, enhancing my reading experience tremendously. He handles the southern accents of some of the characters with finesse, and he does an outstanding job with the female characters, from Natalie and her deep southern drawl to Ariadne with her slightly husky, yet very feminine voice. I immediately knew what character was speaking just by the tone he used. I have enjoyed his narration of other books by Tina Folsom and look forward to listening to A Taste of Greek. I hope he will be narrating Luther’s Return, the next book in the Scanguards Series coming out this week. I can’t wait!

If you are in the mood for light, romantic comedy with plenty of erotic sexual love scenes, then you will love A Scent of Greek as much as I have. Even though it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Happy reading!

A Scent of Greek is the 2nd book in the Out of Olympus series by Tina Folsom and once again Tina takes readers on a wonderful journey with sexy gods and their trials and tribulations with love.

This book was pure fun from beginning to end that had me going through a rollercoaster of emotions from laughing out loud many times (I received many stares from other commuters on the train ride to and from work), grabbing a tissue during the heartaches and trying to cool myself down during the hot, passionate scenes.

Dio being the God of wine and ecstasy has lived his long life going through a different woman every night and has never felt anything for the multitude of women he has been with until Ariadne. For the first time Dio has spent two weeks pursuing and charming the same woman all in the name of conquest as he tries to convince himself amidst the strong and foreign feelings he is developing for Ariadne. After a night of passion that burned into his soul like never before Dio walks away from Ariadne not because he wants to but feels he needs to. What results is the devastation of Ariadne heart and her resolution to teach Dio a lesson.

Ariadne is a bright, intelligent, successful and beautiful young woman who seems to have it all except for love. She believes love is not part of her destiny since she was literally left at the altar, broken-hearted, embarrassed and cheated out of her money by her fiance. With Dio being such a delicious temptation could she finally let her guard down and allow herself to trust another from breaking her heart?

After a night of intense passion Dio leaves Ariadne fearful of the strange feelings lurking deep within him and breaks her heart, but Ariadne confronts him and Dio acts cold and callous to drive her away. What Dio is unaware is a meddling goddess is set on teaching him a lesson which results in a series of events that Tina so vividly describes that the reader feel that they are right on the front lines of the action.

I absolutely love not only how Tina writes some of the best sex scenes out there, but her sense of humor. The things that she makes Dio go through and endure made me smile and laugh throughout the book. I highly recommend this book to not only paranormal romance lovers, but to all the women out there who ever had their hearts torn in two due to the actions of some heartless guy. Sometimes revenge can be so sweet and Tina knows how to dish it out for our enjoyment. So what are you wanting for? Go get this book!

Not as good as the first book. I was into the plot at the beginning, but the story started to really drag around the middle. Basically, Dionysus gets into Ariadne’s panties then promptly dumps her. Another Greek god is tired of his shit and takes it upon herself to punish him by taking away his memory then hands him over to Aridane. With a little coaxing, Ariadne gets convinced to make Dionysus's life miserable. From there the plot turns into this odd "she doesn't know, I know" situation and that's basically where I started to lose interest. Honestly, I wasn't a very big fan of Dionysus. He went from unimaginable bastard to great guy a little too quickly for my taste. It felt a little too much like a complete flip of his personality for me to completely believe that he won't revert back to his previous ways. All in all though, this wasn't a bad read. I'll probably end up picking up the next book in the series if Folsom decides to continue writing these.

My Review:

Outright, this was just a fun and entertaining book to read. I received the first book in this series, A Touch of Greek, for review, but immediately upon finishing it, went out and bought this book to read simply because I loved the first book so much.

While I didn't think this one was quite as good as the first, it absolutely did not disappoint (honestly, I just really loved the story line premise in book #1...it would be hard for any book to compete with that book for me.) This book is the love story between Dio and Ari. Dio is the son of Zeus and he is the god of wine and ecstasy. Being the son of Zeus, who is a horrible philanderer, Dio has always assumed he is just like dear old dad...incapable of love and monogamy. He never wants to hurt another woman the way that his mother was hurt by his father. As a result, his personal rule is to only ever sleep with a woman once, and then their relationship is over.

Ari has been hurt and deceived deeply before. As a result, she doesn't trust easily. She and Dio dated for two weeks before she decided to have sex with him although their chemistry is through the roof...and then he immediately abandoned her. Yep....he's pretty much a jerk.

Hera saw all this and decided to teach her step-son a lesson in humility and suddenly EVERYONE is caught up in this horrific web of lies, which is going to hurt them all.

It's an interesting storyline (be sure to read the story description). Ari knows that it would be way too easy to fall for Dio esp. if they are sleeping together so she decides to tell him that they've decided to wait for sex until they get married...because of his drinking problem. Suddenly the God of wine and ecstasy is abstinent and going to AA meetings. LOL...there is definitely some humor in this book.

I liked both Ari and Dio's characters. Yes, Dio acts like a jerk in the beginning, but even then you know that his actions come from a place of fear of being like his father. He knows in his heart that if he develops a relationship with Ari that he will break her heart and he is trying to prevent that from happening. Both of these characters have some major insecurities when it comes to trusting their own feelings and those of others and that's before all the lies and deceptions are perpetrated in this book.

I continue to really love the Greek theme in these books. The glimpses of Zeus that we saw in this one were wonderfully enlightening. I am definitely looking forward to the other two books in this series.

Dionysus's book was every bit as amazing as Triton and I love that it began with Triton's wedding so we got to see that Triton and Sophia did get the B&B finished and got married!

When Dionysus ran on Ariadne after sleeping with her I wanted to both hit him and hug him. I wanted to hit him for being stupid and running out on her but hug him cause of the reason behind it. His mother dying from a broken heart, wasting away as she kept watching out, yearning for his father to return to her. You could kinda understand his fear of giving into love when he had to watch his mother fade away and die cause of being in love with his father who never loved her in return.

Hera taking his memory was the best thing to happen to him in a way cause it allowed him to forget why he ran from love and allowed him to fall in love. Sadly Hera's reason's weren't as noble as she tried to make out, she never really cared about Ariadne and her feelings, she just wanted to hurt Dionysus cause he was living prove of Zeus' infidelity.

I didn't like Ariadne as much as Sophis, not at first but she grew on me pretty quickly and she and Dionysus made a great couple. I also liked seeing another side to Zeus in this. He came across as a heartless villian in the last book with how he acted towards Triton but it was nice to see he's not all bad as he does try to help his son in this and give him some good advice.

I can't wait for the next book to see whether Hermes or Eryx is next for a book, I also hope that in the next book maybe Triton is about to become a father as it sounds like he and Dionysus want their kids to be around the same age and grow up best friends like they did!

I love Tina Folsom and I could not wait for the sequel to A Touch of Greek.

Ariadne decides to get back at Dionysus when he loses his memory by telling him they're engaged. He's humiliated her and used her so it only seems fair. She'll make him fall in love with her and teach him a lesson of his own. The only problem I had with that was when she was trying to teach him his lesson she seemed to be a bit harsh. How is someone going to fall in love with you when you're mean? She was definitely leaving him alone and not really answering his questions (though she didn't know the answers.)

It had some funny moments, that I don't want to ruin for anyone reading but there were some really good parts. I loved the ending and when the other Gods show up. Their interactions are definitely something to read through.

I am still curious as to why Hera hates Dio so much. Was it only because Zeus cheated? Which doesn't really seem fair to Dio. Or because she saw too much of Zeus in Dio and since she can't take it out on her husband she decides to go after his offspring instead?

I am also questioning why Dio had the change of heart with Ari. He seemed to do a complete 180. Although, I'm glad he did. That poor girl couldn't take another heartache.

I really enjoyed the story. I hope there's more to come! Tina Folsom just seems to have a way with characters that brings them to life right in front of you.

Too much sex scene, not enough character development. I couldn't help but comparing this book to "Tall Dark, Divine". Although while reading the latter I did feel like it was more lust than love too, I could still get the grasp of the characters, and end up liking them on their own. In this book, however, I didn't see how Dio's character changed. Hell, I couldn't even grasp his characters beside the womanizing trait. The same goes for Ari's character.

DNF.

SOUNDED PROMISING, BUT IT WAS A FAIRLY AVERAGE PNR THAT I JUST COULDN'T GET INTO...BECAUSE THE PLOT WAS SO CLICHE.

DIO is a hedonistic god of wine and sex. That can't be more clear to the reader and right now he's courting the mortal Ariadne. There's something about her that just reels him in, but having been the one night stand kind of guy since forever, thinking about love for a woman scares him. Thus, he reacts in the typical male fashion of love em' leave em' and when he dumped Ariadne after one night of sex, Hera, his stepmother decided to teach him a lesson. As interesting as it sounds that he lost his memory and falls for Ariadne for good, it was no fun when he regained his memories....it wasn't angsty enough, it was cliche and Dio struck me as childish.

ARIADNE is a cardboard heroine character. All goody goody, beautiful and meh...what else is there to her? She's boring. And she falls for the handsome Dio, gets her heart broken and the rest you can imagine.

OVERALL it was a very cliche PNR, and I cannot reiterate it enough. The plot didn't offer me any genuine enjoyment and I didn't take with the characters who seemed almost shallow.

Dio and Ari

Dionysus has a rule to never bed the same woman twice. Zeus broke his mother's heart when he left her so he isn't willing to let that happen to himself. He is attracted to Ariadne and has been dating her for two weeks with no sex. He decides that whether they sleep together tonight or not this is the last time. He is glad of that decision because he feels something for Ari that he wants nothing to do with.
Ari has been hurt by a man before so she is leary. She gives into Dio but in the morning he isn't there. She finds him with a couple girls and he tells her he won't be dating her anymore. She is heart broken.
Hera interferes and takes away his memory and also gets into Ari mind and manipulates her to want revenge. So Ari pretends that her and Dio have been engaged for the last seven months.
This book is funny in places as Ari has Dio do things he never would normally do. I liked the change of heart that happens with both parties. This is a very good read.

Hi, Dio, I understand that you'd lost your memory, but surely you knew that once engaged you'll have an engagement ring on your finger? I was surprised you didn't even register that as suspicious. I guess you weren't accustomed to human tradition, despite mingling with all the women in the mortal world for so long.

I enjoyed reading the plot in this book, didn't expect that Dio regained his memory that soon, and also that Zeus would help him and making Hera the bad goddess. I'll definitely continue reading the book in the series, but I'll skip the steamy scenes. It's too many details 😁.

Dionysus's step-mother decides to teach him a lesson after she overhears his plans to dump this girl he has been seeing. Ariadne thinks Dio really likes her until she sees him flirting after they shared a special night together. When Ari realizes that Dio has amnesia she goes along with what Hera is telling her. Things get out of control when Dio starts looking into who he is. Dio and Zeus have a talk and Zeus gives Dio a different perspective of his mother. Dio realizes that things aren't as they seem and tries to make amends with Ari. This book had a few twists!

Ariadne having had the time of her life with Dionysus, god of wine and ecstasy, is blown away when she is dumped right after he is done with her.
The Goddess Hera has had enough of Dionysus, the god that uses and leaves women at will. So after Dionysus uses Ariadne Hera makes him forget so that he can learn a lesson in humility.

So when Ariadne finds Dionysus all beat up and having amnesia, she decides to play the loving fiance.

What a great book!

They are a fun easy read that at time the way the forms of the body are described or the terms used I felt I was reading something written by a man of the female form. If the language was a little more elegant this book would be be next level. The rest of the story is fun and compelling drawing the more classic Greek myths into a modern setting. I loved that aspect of the books a great deal applauding the author for the great research and tie INS to classic Greek culture.

On the plus side this is a quick light read. If you don't know your Greek pantheon, it's possible to get to grips with who is who by reading this series.

On the minus side the plot is extremely simple and it is 'too sweet'. Even though the premise had potential, the actual execution was lacking depth and it came off as being both trite and cliched.

Clearly this author is not my cup of tea.

I did enjoy the book but the middle 3 hours almost droned and I had difficulty caring for the MCs. The side characters added entertainment to the story.

The major frustration for me is that every time a discussion happens between the MCs, there is 15-45 seconds of 'worst case scenario' head banter that occurs. He is going to dump me and humiliate me.......... Oh, he loves me. Ugh!
