Dani’s survived a lot of sh*t storms.

Her mother died. Her two sisters loathed her. One aunt hated her. The other was strangely distant, but the worst storm—being dumped by her childhood best friend/high school boyfriend/first love for her younger sister.

There went the one person who was hers and with that, the main reason she stuck around. So, she left for ten years. But now she’s back, and nothing’s the same.

With help from Jonah Bannon, a reformed—kind of—bad boy she remembers from high school, Dani uncovers family secrets that have spanned generations. And along with those, she’s about to face the biggest sh*t storm of her life.

Only this time, she may not survive.

Home Tears was a good story and I did enjoy these characters. I would have liked to see a bit more of these characters on an emotional level since I didn't honestly see a connection between them, though. I felt like we were being told a story in a completely emotionless way so it was hard for me to get into it at parts.

As for the characters, I didn't hate them but I also didn't feel like I knew them. Especially Dani who wasn't a very well developed character, at least for me. I think if her past was explored a little more that i would have liked her better, but as it was I never felt like I actually knew her. Bottom line, not a bad book but not my favorite, especially from this author. I will definitely still be reading more from her though.

This book was a messy stew of family secrets, sibling in-fighting, jilted lovers, epic storms and terrible tragedies and was filled to the very brim with flawed characters. I’m afraid there was just too much going on for my pea brain to handle because this book tired me out and not in that cathartic “cry your heart out” kind of way. Were it not an excellently narrated audio, I likely wouldn’t have finished it.

Dani left her hometown and all of its bad memories a decade ago, after her best friend and the love of her life decided to fall in love with her younger sister. Yeah, you read that right. She didn’t look back, even when she learned that the man-stealing sister had died, and I really didn’t blame her. Seriously, there are some things you just don’t do and stealing your sister’s man is one of them. Now, after a traumatizing event, she’s run away from a perfectly nice man and has decided to return to her hometown, for some bizarre reason that is never sufficiently explained, and is forced to face the people she ran away from and, while she’s at it, she also decides to ferret out all of the family secrets and find herself a new man. See what I mean about a lot of stuff being jammed in here?

This story just wasn’t meant for me. I was attracted to the blurb because it promised secrets. I’m nosy and I love secrets. But these secrets just weren’t juicy in their execution. There was such a waste of juicy potential and angst and I LOVE angst almost as much as I love secrets but these reveals left me feeling nothing. No shock, no thrill, just “meh, that’s it?” The main problem I had with this book, besides the unending subplots, was the fact that characters didn’t engage me emotionally. I never felt any anguish because they didn’t seem to.

Honestly, I think Dani would’ve been better off if she’d never returned to this town infested with liars and cheaters and secret keepers.

Narration Notes: Narrator Sarah Mollo-Christensen does a great job with all of the characters and there are a lot of them. She gives them each distinctive voices suited to their character traits. Even the guys sound real and I don’t think that’s an easy task for any woman to pull off (and vice versa). If you love the way this author writes (and many do) and aren’t as crabby as me, I’d highly recommend listening to this audio version.

I received a copy of this audiobook from Tantor Media.

There was smth so "off" with the characters that i still can't shake it off

The story itself was in tipical Tijan' s style, so there's no need for any further dwell upon it nor i wanna get into the storyline per se...it s all one giant soap opera!

I just didn't like the characters, damn any of them, well apart from Jonah, but he alone couldn't save the story from being "too much" of a cheap soapy thrill nor he could give the rest of the crew some backbone to live up the set standards of the characters we are all used to seeing in other Tijan's books.

So, 2.75 stars, this time :/

I wanted to love this book. I liked the main character Dani and her love interest Jonah. But the rest of the characters sucked. Mainly the main character's family and ex boyfriend. I keep trying with this author and books outside the Fallen Crest Series. But none of them have been as good. This book was just bad soap opera.

*Spoiler Alert Below*

Everyone in this small town loves Dani's ex Jake who breakup with her for her younger sister. And than got engaged to the older sister. Can I just say how much I HATE when authors try to make it okay to be betrayed by friends and/or family. How the one betrayed has to rise above and be so forgiving. Everyone in Dani's family told her to either get over it, made excuses or said they were not sorry. Dani's family is full of secrets and liars. I felt like she should have left town after she learned of her family secrets and came to terms with her past.
Her loved interest was okay but you never got to really know him. The book was so incomplete to me. You only got a portion of what Dani did for ten years. I wanted to know more of that. You don't get a clear picture of the ex Jake. Nothing about his family. Just that his likes all three of the O'Hara sisters.
Let me also say how desperate and sad Dani's family is. Three generation of women with low self esteem. The grandmother having 3 children with her best friend's husband. Who does that? Dani's mother almost started dating her half brother because of the secrets and lies. Dani's mother is no better having her 3 children with a married man which her sister is also in love with. Because of this fact Dani's mom and aunt never got along. So much so that the aunt hated and mistreated Dani because she looked just like her mom.
This book was a joke and a waste of my time. If not for Fallen Crest series I would break up with this author here and now

I can't deny that Tijan writes beautifully because the words... beautiful. I'm in love with the way this author writes.

I can't deny that this story had potential. Girl leaves home after being rejected by her long-time bestfriend/boyfriend for her sister... yeah, that sounds like an interesting read. Don't even get me started on how he's now with another one of her sisters. Messed. Up.

"You screwed me for years, screwed Erica after that, and now you got Julia. You don't want to play, you should date outside the O'Hara pool."

Throw in the mystery of her family history, the drama of her coming back home, old hurts resurfacing, and new and old loves colliding... sounds yummy.

But I wasn't wowed. Somehow, despite all of these scrumptious ingredients, the recipe missed the mark with me.

I didn't much like Dani, I probably would have liked Jonah more if I got his side of the story, Jake was very gross (see him dating all three sisters!), and Julia was terrible. I think the only person in this story who really deserved a break was Dani's fiance for a day. Seriously, even that relationship was messed up.

"I didn't know you were a Quandry until you showed up in my cabin the other night."

Soooo... you were with this man, living with this man, became engaged to this man, and you didn't know his last name? How????

Everything felt vague to me. The intended mystery of the O'Hara family was no mystery. It sounded like a messed up family and the secrets weren't that deep. Honestly, it was all pretty lame and I was left disappointed after every reveal. However, I can say that the ridiculousness of this story kept me entertained. The sisters... immature. The cop/ex-best friend/ex-boyfriend... absurd. Everyone else (but the fiance for the day guy whose name I've already forgotten)... like blurry images in the background.

It's sad because there was such beauty in the writing.

This wasn't my fave Tijan book I really do Enjoy her books and her style of writing but Seriously the whole Jake drama was a HUGE W.T.F

How was EVERYONE okay with this Guy Not Only dating one sister not 2 sister but ALL 3 SISTERS!!!
W.T.F was wrong with this guy Seriously!! in long term relationships with all 3 (meaning he had SEX with all 3 sisters!!!)

Am Still Flabbergasted how nobody said anything about this like it was no big deal like oh well this happens all the time I mean he was even still liked by the whole town.... How? why? how? What?

Umm this book kinda started interesting but it went downhill for me. For one how was this one guy able to bag all THREE sisters seems kinda like a douche to me. And a lack of morals when it came to the sisters. You telling me the town was that small that they all had to share the same guy?!? Hell that seems to be the case with both of the two male leads. Everybody literally dated everybody. Besides all of that it was so much going on in this book. And a lot of the things were very repetive. I keep trying to read books by this author I simply do not enjoy them. I have come to accept that this author is not for me.

Let me start off with saying I love Tijan's work normally. I however didn't really connect with this story. I felt like Tijan's main female characters are usually strong and independent but Dani was devoid of emotions in general. Her interaction and turmoil over her past experienced was non- existent. I liked the dynamic of the many love interests but nothing was ever explored. I felt like this story could've been better than it was.

DNF.

The characters in this book....

I'll start with Dani aka Ms. no back bone. The amount of times she just walked around like a zombie and let her ex, and her family walk all over her was just infuriating. I get that she went through a traumatic experience, but the book was not about her coming home to heal from that. No, it was her running away from a perfectly good relationship (seriously-WHY did she run from that guy? It was not explained other than she runs away from people) and then she starts unraveling stupid family history drama. No thanks.

Jake aka Mr. douchecanoe. I really hate him. He is the absolute worst. He was with Dani, then seemingly out of the goddamn blue he decides he is in love with her younger sister. THEN said sister dies, and HE GETS ENGAGED TO THE OLDEST SISTER. What the actual fuck. Did I mention that I HATE him? Oh and then he goes and has the NERVE to act jealous of her when she starts seeing someone else. HARD PASS SIR. I just...ugh. I have so much rage for this guy.

Jonah...seems like a nice enough love interest. However, we hardly get enough of the guy. I mean, I didn't dislike him but when he and Dani got together, it seemed both random and uninteresting. Just...

Julia & Erica. I'm gonna lump them together since one of them is dead and both equally horrible people. I have as much rage for them as I do Jake. WHO STEALS THEIR SISTERS BOYFRIEND? WHO GOES AFTER THE SAME GUY, WHEN HE HAS ALREADY DIPPED INTO TWO OTHER SISTERS?????!!! WHAT THE FUCK.

Also, WHY is everyone in this town just waltzing around like Jake is still some 'good guy'? It's like Dani is the 'bad guy' because she skipped town after her boyfriend decides to shack up with her little sister! Guess what? I WOULD HAVE SKIPPED TOWN TOO.

I just can't with anyone is this book...

Besides the horrible characters...the story was just not that engaging and I would not have used third person- I would have used first person.
The only thing that kept me reading was the 'mystery' aspect of the book. However, even that could not make me finish this. I read spoilers and I am glad I didn't waste my time. Everyone is horrible and I am not here for that kind of drama.

No thanks.

Definitely a must read!

The Review:
This isn’t just a romance...

I go into a Tijan read knowing I’m going to hit the mother load for angsts and come out in the end swooning. I love her books. They are always filled with crazy-out-there drama and a romance that I can read time and again. With Home Tears, I knew things were going to be a little different than her other books, but I had no idea just how different.

And I loved it! Every. Single. Bit. Of It!

Like I said, this is more than a romance. In fact, the romance sort of takes a backseat to the life of Dani O’Hara, her family and the townspeople of Craigstown. Of course, there is drama, there are buried secrets and the characters are incredibly lively ... all the things you’d expect from a great Tijan read. But there’s more. There’s so much more, if you just dig a little deeper and really take in the story this author is trying to tell.

Story/Characters...
Dani O’Hara is a runner. She’s been running all her life. She ran by building walls around herself as a child, she ran the night her boyfriend and her sister betrayed her, she ran the moment she might have found happiness with another and she ran when tragedy struck. But now she’s back home in Craigstown and her reappearance after ten long years has sent the small town into a tailspin. Everyone is shocked. Everyone has something to say. And no one expected to ever see her again.

Jonah Bannon is a town hero. He’s worshiped by most and beloved by all. He could have his pick of any woman he wanted, especially in Craigstown, but the moment he sets his sights on Dani, he knows she’s the challenge he’s been waiting for.

Jake Cairns, Dani’s ex, has a bucket full of guilt. And when Dani comes back into his life, he’s thrown off balance. Julia O’Hara, Dani’s sister, isn’t pleased with her return either and drama unfolds as the sisters try to find their footing in a town two small for the both of them.

There’s also a mystery to solve. After returning home, Dani starts asking questions and soon realizes her family has more hidden secrets and lies between them than she ever thought possible. She’s come home to heal after the events that lead to her running again, but this time, she’s determined to stay and make peace with her past, but first, she has to find herself ... her true self. And with Jonah’s help, she might just be able to do that.

I loved Jonah and Dani’s chemistry. They were sweet and sexy and had a real connection as Dani was able to open up to him like she hadn’t been able to for anyone else. The drama, secrets and mystery surrounding the O’Hara family kept me glued to the pages, anxious to figure out what was going on and the incredible cast of entertaining characters brought the small town of Craigstown to life. And that dramatic ending isn’t one I’ll forget any time soon. I loved it!

The Wrap Up:
There was so much going on in this read it and I found the story to be incredibly exciting, heartfelt, emotional and powerful. Dani was an admirable heroine. She was strong and resilient. Her journey to finding her happily-ever-after was fraught with trials and heartbreak, but in the end, I think she needed all that to really connect to who she was and where she came from.

This wasn’t just a romance.... For Dani and the people of Craigstown, it was a new beginning.

4 Stars!!

It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Tijan!! I love her writing and ALLLLL the Drama she dishes! I have always been hesitant to read Home Tears because it was one of her lower rated books. But I have made it a point recently to not give a damn about other peoples ratings and just to take a leap and go for it. IM SO GLAD I DID.

This Book was literally like a Soap Opera. We have Dani- who is from a very small town. She always felt like the black sheep in her family which included her mom, two sisters and two aunts. Dani's boyfriend (Jake) ends up cheating on her with one of her sisters- Dani does what she does best- she leaves with out a word.

Fast Forward 10 years and Dani is back home visiting - trying to get over a trauma she just went through. She is dealing with a lot of emotions and trying to change her ways. Her crazy Fam is not happy to see her. They have issues with Dani leaving for so long- most thought she was dead.

I LOVED this book. I could relate SO much to Dani O'Hara and her whole messed up Fam. The drama was flowing STRONG- in Tijan fashion. We get to see Dani's growth, as well as other characters over the course of the book. Jonah was great as well- He was patient and really just went with the flow of things. He was there for Dani and wasn't an ass like most guys tend to be in these types of books.

I recommend all Tijan books - they always have such depth and the writing always sucks you in! Always here for a drama fest :P

Not a review but more of a question to myself...What happened to Tijan's awesome writing? Where did it go? Why is everything so melodramatic? Why so many cheaters? Why soo depressing? Why so much inner rambling? Why does NOTHING make sense??

I use to love Tijan and up until Anti Step-Brother I had read everything she wrote. Now though..I just can't. All characters are the same and now...now they're all cheaters!

From the blurb you see that the h left for many reasons and a big one was that her boyfriend/best friend dumped her for her younger sister..what it fails to include is that same boyfriend/best friend then moved onto the heroine's other sister..just no.

I had hoped that this one, since it was previously written and published on her website, that it would be old school Tijan..well, I guess not.

A few words about my rating...

First I love Tijan's books but unfortunately this one was not for me.

I expected Tijan but I did not get Tijan or the Tijan I'm used to. Maybe that was the problem...

All the right ingredients are present: family secrets, natural disaster, queen b@tch , hot guy... but I never fell into the story. It was like a thin layer of glass between me and the story. I observed but only with mild interest. I could not connect with the characters either.

I really was unsettled as it's not my usual reaction to one of her books. But now that I've read the acknowledgements (you should always read them as they're often filled with interesting tidbits about how the story was born and why) I understand better. And not telling here!

Now maybe you'll get luckier than I did and will fall in love with the story, who knows?

"Home Tears" is one of those books that should have been good. In fact it could have been great but despite finishes it and hoping things would change, unfortunately, the execution of this story fell short for me and I'm absolutely gutted. Right from the start, I was left dazed and confused as I was assaulted by the introduction of a truck load of characters. It didn't take long to forget who was who and how they were all linked and I had to keep going back and checking and double checking to make sure I was getting it right.

Then there was the plot, another plot, then another and then a gazillion sub plots with build ups that had me all worked up only to lead to the mother of all anti climax's. Everything seemed to amount to not very much at all and even right up until the very end, I thought there may be some answers to questions that would leave me with that "OMG" feeling but it never happened. The lies, the secrets and the betrayals weren't really all that in the end.

In terms of the characters, where do I even start? Jake was just the biggest asshole and I truly hoped that at some point he would redeem himself. I mean, he ended up dating all three sisters but for some unknown reason, it appeared that Danielle was the one in the wrong... seriously???? Bloomin' small town mentality!!! Now Jonah is a character I did like but I don't feel like I was given the chance to love him. I don't know if that's because the story was told in third person, leaving me with a constant feeling of detachment, I'm not sure, there was just something missing for that final push from "he's a nice guy" to "OMG he is just so swoon worthily HOT!!!."

So all in all, this was a disappointing read especially since it was the first book I have read all month. Like I said, I'm gutted and have rated "Home Tears" 2.5 stars

This book started out good but went downhill pretty soon after. Dani O'Hara is back in her little home town after running away 10 yrs ago. She is estranged from her sisters and her aunt. All of the O'Hara females have serious issues. They either have mental issues or they all have cheated with married men.

This story was totally screwed up. On one hand we had Jeff, Dani's ex-boyfriend who was dating one sister but choose other sister and then got engaged to the oldest sister and nobody thought that it was completely weird. Then her grandmother and her mother had kids with married men.

Then there was Jonah, who was supposed to be this badass bad boy but he came up as a boring guy with no spark. I wanted to quit many times but somehow I ended up finishing this book. 1 little star, wasn't for me.

I truly love Tijan and the story itself was good.
But there are things I can't stand and often avoid.
It's cheating within the family. Yeah, that is my opinion and I will also mention some things based on the story and writing.
But back to the cheating part. Now don't get me wrong. I think there is only one book which had these themes in it which I love!
But like seriously? ALL thee sisters? How can you describe someone as truly good and wearing his heart on his sleeves when he fu*ked you, your younger DEAD sister AND your other sister too?
Grow some decency man. It was awful enough that you cheated on your first love and best friend with her sister. But getting it on with the other sister after one's dead is just disgusting.
Also what's that thing about patronizing the 'predator'? I love aunt Mae but telling Dani Jake left her because her sister needed him more was just wrong on so many levels. Also saying that he loved that part in Erika which reminded him most of Dani is just wrong. If you only love that part in someone why not loving the original one?
I loved all the characters. Even the minions of Julia. And maybe even a little bit Julia though I'm not Ok with her being with jake even though she claims to love Erika so much.
My heart broke for Boone. It ached for Aunt Mae.
But that part of the story was really great. I loved the storyline and how everything went.
But I also hated the ending and the letter at the same time. Why did everyone think Erika changed? That letter destroyed the image of a regretting sister who wanted her sister and family back. I would regret how I handled everything with Jake. Maybe not loving him. Maybe not the bond we shared. But that's all overshadowed by his first love who happens to be my sister. That's just awful. Even Aunt Mae suggests that Erika only fell for him because he loved Dani. Why destroy everything with this letter and finally why name your child after her? So that's that. I love Tijan but I'm not in love with this book.

Dani O'Hara walked away ten years ago from her family when her boyfriend dumped her for her little sister. After an earth shattering moment in Dani's life she has come back home to heal. Dani knows she will not be welcomed back with wide arms from her sister or her aunt, but there is another aunt who always had her back. Struggling through trying to come to terms with her past, Dani doesn't need the unwanted attention of former bad boy Jonah Bannon.

Jonah knew all about the O'Hara family, three sisters who thought thy were above the rest, all except Dani. Jonah had never gotten close to Dani but she was the one who peaked his interest the most. Jonah sees the haunted look in Dani's eyes and he knows she has to let someone in, he hopes it is him. Finding a way to get close, Jonah becomes Dani's friend and pulls her into his group.

While Dani is finding a way to breath again, she uncovers secrets from her past that she needs answers for. With a fractured relationship with family, an ex who wants answers, and trying to understand what is going on with her and Jonah her plate is full, but something is about to happen that will change everything.

This was very intense. I thought it had a lot of drama, almost too much in a couple of places but overall I liked this book a lot. I thought that Dani's story was unique and you understood more of why she was the way she was as the story becomes full circle. Jonah I liked a lot, you are not sure what his intentions are initially but know he is curious about Dani, you are rooting for this couple. Excellent chemistry.

Title: Home Tears
Author: Tijan
Genre: New Adult
Format: Kindle Unlimited
Series: NA
Star Rating: 4 stars

Please note that this is an older review. At the time of writing this review, I did not keep track of trigger warnings. I apologize for this and know that going forward, my reviews will contain trigger warnings. If you know the trigger warnings for this book, please reach out to me, and I will amend my review. If I do remember any trigger warnings for this book, I will list them, but please note that it is not an extensive list.

I downloaded this book from Kindle Unlimited because the cover was so pretty. I am all for anything photography related. Just looking at the cover made me think it was going to be a very good story filled with drama and sadness.

And it was a good book. It was very character driven. I wouldn't say that it didn't have a plot because it did...in a way. Dani comes back to her hometown after 10 years of being away. Her family is literally 50 shades of messed up. I mean, the secrets that Dani finds out about her family, not to mention that most of her family can't stand her. She doesn't know who her dad is. Her sister wants nothing to do with her. Her ex is going to marry her sister. It's all messed up.

Dani is a very broken individual. Her mom died when she was young, and she was raised by an aunt who didn't like her because she was different. That certainly takes a toll on her. She survived a natural disaster, but it took a toll on her as well. My heart bled for her. She is so damaged, and she feels like she can't let anybody in. All the people she has loved have hurt her.

I'm glad that she reconnected (they went to school together) with Jonah. I was totally rooting for their relationship the entire time. He understood that she was broken and she needed to heal. He pushed her when he knew she needed to be pushed. Jonah was the right person for Dani. I'm glad Dani didn't take 20 years to figure that out. I always hated people who take forever to realize that their soulmate was literally right in front of them.

I rated this book high because I loved the character growth. I loved that we got to watch Dani grow and find out who she was as a person. As for the plot, it was good. Finding out all these family secrets and regrowing relationships is always heartwarming to see. There really isn't a whole lot more I can say about this book. Just have to read it for yourself. Overall, it’s a book I highly recommend.

Home Tears is the newest gem from Tijan. This is a heart wrenching story about coming home and not knowing what's waiting for you. About being afraid but conquering your worst fears. And about letting go and moving on. Sometimes you have to go back to where you started to finally figure it all out. Tijan knows just how to pull at my heart strings. She continues to do it book after book and I love it. I need it! Dani left home ten years ago after being dumped for her younger sister. The worst part was, he was her best friend and the only reason she was staying in town. Now, she's back and nothing is the same. People who were never friends are being nice. Her aunt that she hasn't seen her in years is incredibly happy to see her. And, Jonah, the sexy bad boy from high school is even more attractive and dying to get his hands on her…car. Jonah turns out to be just what she needs. A friend who's on her side. Everyone has a past and things they aren't proud of, but Jonah just gets Dani. Their friendship is built on trust and likeness that grows into something more. When tragedy strikes the town will Jonah and Dani's relationship survive? Will her family secrets be revealed? I loved this story. It has all the feels. Dani and Jonah are perfect for each other. They know what the other is thinking, but it's not predictable. Hearts recognize hearts and their friendship and chemistry is perfect.

His eyes never moved, they were steady on her lips. His other hand had started a slow pattern on her back, and Dani closed her eyes, feeling his hand brush against her shoulders and back down to circle her waist. It moved to the front and rested atop her stomach.
He leaned in.
She sucked in her breath. This… This wasn’t what she expected to happen.

Dani left town after her younger sister, Erica, steals her boyfriend. Ten years have passed by and she's greeted with a lukewarm reception. But not for the reason you think! While Dani was away, Erica passes away from cancer and now her other sister, Julia, is with her ex boyfriend. Keeping it in the family I see Jake. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he was with three sisters!! Talking about he loves them all in different ways. This was too deep for me! Every time I turned around something was happening. Apparently we have a dead grandmother who isn't dead who's been in a mental institution the whole time. An evil Aunt and a mystery father. I'm glad Dani got the answers she needed about her father and some closure with her sisters. Erica left her letter which was deep. I would have liked more character buildup with Dani and Jonah. I didn't feel their connection and the ending was a little flat. It would have been nice to have an update on the rest of the characters.

A little too much going on at once in this one. Well written but a little hard to keep up with.

One of the things that get me is by being a big reader is that you get fussy with what you read and often find yourself in slumps where everything you try is just not resonating with you. When this happens, I tend to try and go back and read some of my oldie books and certain authors that I know will always be able to pull me out of my reading slumps. Tijan is one of those authors as her books always pack a powerful punch and often contain that original feeling of the new adult genre filled with angst before it got a saturated genre. Home Tears was originally written as Home Torn and offered as a freebie, a few years later she decided to rewrite and add more to it and that final product was Home Tears. In-Home Tears, we meet Dani O'Hara who has come home for the first time in ten years. When she left and during the years she broke a lot of hearts and Dani has always seemed to leave a trail of destruction, not that she means to but it is her curse - people die around her or get hurt. Being back in town means she has to face a lot of demons from her ex-boyfriend Jake who dated her sister Erica who died and Dani missed the funeral and now he dates her other sister Julia. Julia and Dani are complete opposites and have never seen eye to eye and it shows in this book. Dani has been running for too long and now she is about to rip a storm through the remaining O'Haras as she uncovers a whole truckload of hidden secrets and lies. Dani also does get her own romance story with the town's resident bad boy turned good guy Jonah Baron as he helps her to slowly break down her walls. Home Tears is a very angsty read and if you don't mind dysfunctional family drama, then this is the read for you. I think in some ways it is better that I haven't read Home Torn as I got to go into this book with fresh eyes as I think if I had, I probably would be trying to compare the storylines together. So overall, I think this is a case of reading one or the other but not both as you will get more enjoyment out of it.

My Thoughts:

Home Tears is the story of Dani O'Hara. Dani left her small hometown after her best friend and first love, Jake, left her for her younger sister. Since than Dani has been broken, and a tragedy in her life has left her feeling hopeless, and unable to let the walls that she has erected around her heart down.

Dani decides to return to the home she left ten years ago. She is looking for hope, and healing. Since she left, her younger sister Erica died, and Jake is now with Dani's oldest sister, Julia. Jonah Bannon, the man that every woman wants for herself, and every man respects, keeps putting himself in her path. He can tell that she needs a friend. Even though she is resistant at first, Dani forms a strong connection with him, and finds herself confiding in him, in a way that she has never been able to do with atone else.

As Dani spends time in town she establishes close friendships, and stands toe to toe against her sister Julia, who shows nothing but contempt, anger, jealousy, and bitterness towards her. Soon, Dani learns that her family has a lot of skeleton's in the closet, and as she begins to touch on a few of them, she is determined to get to the truth.

Home Tears had a very different feel to it that Tijan's other stories. It was slower-paced, and reminded me in some ways of a small town Jill Shalvis novel. There were less steamy scenes and the emphasis wasn't on romance like the typical Tijan novel. Instead the story was focused on the main character being given hope, healing her soul, and finding the strength to stop running away whenever she couldn't face some of the hardest moments in her life.

My Rating:

Home Tears had drama, angst, hope, romance, and family secrets to be revealed. I enjoyed this small town story. It was a good read! I give, Home Tears, by Tijan 3.5 Overcoming Painful Experiences, Finding Strength, Healing, and Hope Filled Stars!!!

There was hope, love, hurt, pain, betrayal, drama, and a whole lot of secrets.

This book has so many things incorporated into it that there was not a distinct flow of the book.
This is one of my favorite authors, but This book wasn’t her best. From a reader point of you I thought that the point of view that the writing was in was not clear at all. There were times when it went to first person, then it went into third person, but it wasn’t a singular point of view, nor was it clear enough. I believe that added to the inconsistency of the flow of the story.

The plot is self is a great plot. There were twists and turns that I didn’t realize. But it didn’t come together as successfully, from my point of view as the reader. Somethings were given while others was just popped up on us as readers.

At times I felt like the author developed a character or a part of the story but then left it alone and went to something else and when the author went back to that part of the plot, it didn’t follow up with the development that was written in there before.

I enjoyed the story, but it was not the best of Tijan’s work.

I read and loved Home Torn on Wattpad, and was expecting Home Tears to be practically the same. How wrong I was? It was even better. Home Tears had all the best bits of Home Torn with some even better bits added in the mix. We follow Dani as she returns to her hometown after 10 years. Having to deal with ex boyfriends, an aunt and a sister that hate her, along with a whole bunch of family issues, most of which are surrounded by secrets and lies. Add on to this the fact that she is running again from tragedy and loss and we have her past, her present and her future colliding Ina spectacular way. Wonderful story, interesting characters and with a love interest like Jonah (he was pretty much perfect), I couldn't fault it. I was hooked. Loved it.

in ways that I can’t explain, this is the only book by Tijan that I kind of liked and which made some sort of sense to me, perhaps because I have seen such incredible set of dynamics first hand.
