Two shattered hearts formed one unbelievably solid bond.
From the minute he was patched into the Shadow Riders MC, Anthony 'Blue' DaSilva had only ever been tasked with caring about these things: His club. His booze. P*ssy. And his bike. But since being appointed VP by his best friend and current club president, Jacob 'River' Hawkins, he's now been tasked with making sure his fellow brother doesn't die thanks to jealous and angry members from within, and outside of the club.
It doesn't seem like too difficult of a task for the former Sergeant-At-Arms considering he's always been quick on his feet and even quicker with his gun. But when things get too far out of control one night and tragedy strikes a fellow member, he's forced to make a decision that could not only bring more unwanted grief to the club, but unwanted grief upon himself.
Roxanne Townsend never wanted much from life, aside from finding various ways to get the hell out of the one she had been forced into living from the time she was a child. Born & raised in the Raging Bastards of Chaos, she saw the ugliest parts of MC life, parts that included losing her father, and former president of the club, at the hands of another when she was just five years old.
Now at twenty-seven, Roxanne's determined as hell to break free, refusing to continue swimming in a life that's done nothing but attempt to drown her in a black hole. Unfortunately it's when things start looking up for her that the past comes calling in the form of a one-time enemy. The Shadow Riders need help from her uncle, current president of the Raging Bastards. And lacking the good fortune of her mother to get out while she still can, she somehow finds herself in the middle of a pending war.
When she meets Blue, all internal hell breaks loose. He's someone she can talk and relate to. Someone who listens and understands. He makes her feel whole again, makes her laugh and see that some parts of the MC life are not as bad as she's always known.
If you've read 'Inflamed' (Book 1), then you already know Blue is River's best friend. And, if you've read my review you already know that Blue steals the book from River right until River comes to his senses. Blue is one of the reasons why River finally got it together to get his woman.
We catch glimpses of the people we loved from Book 1. But this story is ALL BLUE although and gratefully there is much less profanity in this book. This story is gritty and raw and at times ugly and ugly things happen. People die.
There are many things to like about Blue among them his relationship with River who is his brother, though not by blood -- doesn't matter. It's clear that they have a very close relationship because they have been through some shit together and lived to tell the tale. But even brothers fight and when Blue sets his eyes on a woman that is off limits, his relationship with River is severely tested.
"Blood or not, you're my family always. Brother from another goddamn mother and all that shit."-River
When Blue meets Roxanne (born and raised within an African American MC), there is an instant and mutual recognition of lust, want and wonder. Blue being silver-tongue Blue and a man of action whispers in Roxy's ear and she listens. They both get carried away and are caught in a bit of a compromising position. They are warned to stay away from each other. I think you already know how well that goes! Like a moth to a flame burned by the fire ... resistance is futile and they eventually decide they can no longer exist in the world without (a taste of) each other. Yes, they are caught up in their desire but they both recognize that it's something more and they embrace it.
Hold your horses ... if you think these two end up in bed together right away -- you'd be wrong. If you think this is a story about lots and lots of sex with a story thrown in for good measure -- again, you'd be wrong. This is a slow burn romance, but it's also a story about family, secrets, greed, betrayals, love, hate, desires and relationships. This story is long and may be tedious to some because these people are talkers ... pages and pages of dialogue which gives the reader greater insight into the characters and their motivations. Once Blue and Roxy get together ... the roof is on fire, they don't need no water, let the MFR burn!
My song for this couple: I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By -Mary J. Blige/Method Man
(Mary B) Like sweet morning dew I took one look at you And it was plain to see You were my destiny With you I'll spend my time I'll dedicate my life I'll sacrifice for you Dedicate my life for you
Some of my favorite quotes ...
"If that’s the case, then maybe you need to expand your circle and stop spreading your cock around to any and everything that moves." -River ... "I could do that shit -- I could do that shit, it's my cock that you'd have to speak to about that directly. -Blue
"Goddamn," he said. "Jesus Christ Almighty, you are fuckin' beautiful. The most beautiful motherfuckin' woman that God has ever made, baby. Goddamn...” -Blue
Roxy is used as a pawn for her uncle's lack of accounting skills -- but she has an endgame. Her goal is to become a nurse and she does what she has to do to get there. Blue is a VERY secure man and he is NOT judgmental of Roxy. Which makes him even sexier. Having both been raised in MC life -- Blue understands Roxy and and Roxy understands Blue and they form a nearly unbreakable bond.
This story had it all dark secrets, betrayals, twists and turns that you won't see coming and most of all that real, from the top of your head right down to the tips of your toes scorching, burning love. Again, I want to warn you that this is a long journey to get to the rainbow and it's worth the ride. Can this book be read as a stand-alone? Yes, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not reading 'Inflamed' and getting to know Blue. Along with River, Mia, Wolf, Verna, Jolene, Trucker, Miranda, Tiny and Snake and the rest of the gang that make up the Shadow Riders and their women!
I'll end this review with Blue's Confession of love to Roxy ...
"Look, baby, you know good and goddamn well that piece of shit motherfucker ain't ever gonna love you the way you wanna be loved; from inside that big goddamn heart you've got -- straight down to that slick, sweet spot right between those fuckin' thighs. And I know this shit for a fact. I know it for a single goddamn fact that as much as you might try and deny it, as much as you might try and pretend that every goddamn thing we've done up to this point don't matter for the sake of your sanity and a relationship that don't mean shit, there ain't never gonna be another motherfucker on God's green earth that's gonna love you as hard as I can... love you as hard as you're gonna need -- as hard as you fuckin' deserve... love you like the goddamn queen you are 'til the end of fuckin' time." -Blue
Well🤔🤔🤔! Maybe it needed to be "code red" instead...
I did not know how to rate this story except that I love me some MS. Leach and in my book she is always a 5 or more, yet this story was a little bit different and if I had to title it, I would have titled it "code red" instead because it needed help... To start, it was a little bit too long. It took too long for Blue and Roxy to get together finally, intimately and yet too quick for them to madly fall in love. It's like there was no medium. No middle but a long, long, long story that didn't need all of this going on. On a lighter note, I simply love Blue even more. I loved him in "inflamed (river and Mia's) story), and now in his story, I fu##ing am in love with him. Roxane was a little bit different and probably too badass or gang wise for my taste (I love the damsel in distress a little bit). Their story was a little bit bland and a little bit boring, but some of the other characters were a riot. Glad Laz was gone as well as Tiny. The others all deserved what happened to them and River, man oh man, this guy (oof🙊😏😰) it's hot in here with him. Mia, should have had a back bone already but still sweet. Finally, unfortunately after all is said and done, in this series, I believe "Inflamed" is my favorite, it's my 10 star where as "Code Blue" is gonna need code red to get further than the 5 given...
This is the 2nd book that I have read by this author I was not disappointed. I loved "Inflamed", so I I knew I would love this one as well. I enjoyed Blue and Roxy's story from beginning to end. Blue was one of my favorite characters in the first book, so I am happy that he got his own love story. The love between Blue and Roxy was intense, they had great chemistry and an unbelievable connection. Their story was a roller coaster ride from hell, but they made it through to the end.
I think this book was very well written and it flowed well. There was never a dull moment. It was definitely a page-turner. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll just say that it is worth a read. However, if you are easily offended by cursing and dirty talk, I would advise you not to read this book because you will definitely be clutching you pearls, gasping or you will just be plain speechless. Just like in "Inflamed", the author left a warning about this book and I thought that was a cool thing for her to do again. Great job, Kiki Leech! Keep doing you and I can't wait to read your next book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
All I can say is Wow!!! This book had drama on top of drama on top of craziness. So many secrets came to light it was insane. This book had everything you could ask for....great characters, good storyline, drama, violence, sex, secrets, lies, and love. I had a hard time putting it down. Roxanne had a rough life. I can't believe her own uncle would do what he did. I liked her personality. And Blue.... OMG!!!! Can't wait to read what is next.
The author spun a grand story about bikers, the hell they go through and the women that love them. It takes a different kind of woman to understand and deal. Roxanne and Blue loved each other from the start and couldn't ignore it, no matter what obstacles were in their paths.
I liked Blue and Roxy but I thought the book dragged on a little too long and it was hard for me to keep up with all the additional drama - I did think that their story re: her family history and his family history was compelling. I also thought they both had so much to lose but were able to see the good, bad and ugly in each other and so were perfectly matched. Definitely read River and Mia's story before you read this one. I enjoy Kiki Leach's books and this did not disappoint.
I enjoyed it from beginning to end, very detailed and descriptive. Love the characters and their determination to be together no matter what. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
We meet Blue in book 1 and he's Rivers best friend new VP and a player. But Roxy is about to rock he's world. But secrets are being revealed will the M C ever be the same
What can I say Blue and Roxanne's relationship was fire at first sight. Rival clubs, secrets and attraction off the charts makes this book an amazing ride!
This is my review and how I see it. In Code Blue, Kiki Leach gives us Blue's story. We first met Blue in Inflamed, the SGT of the Shadow Riders MC and River's best friend. They say life has six degrees of separation and we see all six in this novel.
This author warns that it is long and that it is. There is a little history given here as we learn more about Blue. Blue meets Roxy and the sparks fly between these two on sight. Both their road to love is paved with lies and secrets. Some life changing.
Wolf is still causing trouble for the Shadow Riders, and River and Blue need to solve the mystery behind Snake's behavior and find out where Wolf is to take him down once and for all.
This book is for anyone who likes motorcycle clubs and long books.
I knew Blue's story would be complicated, intense and unbelievably gritty but dang, I didn't know it was going to be THIS complicated, intense and unbelievably gritty. And I must say I LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT. The meeting of he and Roxanne seemed like love at first sight. They restraint they both showed in holding out as long as they did. The truth telling, OMG I felt his admission of love right down to my soul. Her raw emotion and the acceptance of it and HIM. Just WOW. And in the end a HEA. Yeah, I am loving the Shadow Riders MC books.
Such a lonnng story! But it was a very good read. All the characters fit well and I liked and understood Blue and Roxanne's character. A lot of unexpected twists and turns made this worth reading.
I received a copy in exchange for a honest review. Wow!! First I loved this book and read the entire novel in one day. Even though I received a copy of it, I'm buying one too because I want the author to keep writing books like this. So let me tell you that if you liked "Inflamed" your going to love "Code Blue" Blue and Roxie's story is grittier then River and Mia's. Blue and Rosie are almost doomed from the start but there love is so strong that they can overcome anything that life throws at them. There were some parts in the novel that were so crazy I had to stop reading and take a break before diving back in. You need to take a chance on this novel. Yes there is cursing, alpha men,and all kinds of crazy stuff in this novel. Some parts in the novel make you wonder if Blue and Roxy are going to get there hea but they do. You just have to keep reading. Thank you Kiki for writing about crazy bikers and the strong as hell women who love them!
This is another great MC series ..read river and mia now Blue and Rozanne another great book Kiki Leach thank you for the entertainment of this bookbhope to read more of this series. By Nancy Cagle
