Filled with explosive action, sizzling romance, and police drama, Brotherly Love will entrance readers with the memorable love triangle of two brothers and one woman, and keeps the reader asking—will one man’s dedication to his work cost him his family?
Mason McKenzie, an undercover police detective, is so dedicated to his job and protecting the citizens of Atlanta that he has practically abandoned his family. Unbeknownst to him, his wife, Cherise, and younger brother, Vincent, have ignited a passionate love affair. Overcome with guilt, the pair ends the relationship even though they still possess an undeniable attraction to one another.
Years later, as Mason decides he's ready for a career change that would give him more time to spend with his family, he's asked to participate in a huge drug case. He concludes that one last job won't hurt, and it might allow him to leave at the top of his game. Besides, Mason realizes that if things get too tough and he has to be away for too long, he can always count on his brother to step in and take care of his family while he's undercover. What Mason doesn't realize is that putting Vincent and Cherise back together again could be as dangerous as his assignment—and tear his family apart once and for all.
Darrien Lee takes readers on a roller coaster of emotions as lives, a marriage, and family ties are at stake. Brotherly Love is a book that readers will contemplate long after turning the last page.
Darrien Lee, a graduate of Tennessee State University, is a two-time Essence bestselling author with four published works with Strebor Books. She has been featured in several periodicals, including Romantic Times magazine and the Nashville Tennessean. She lives in LaVergne, Tennessee, with her husband and two daughters.
This is the first book I've read from this author and I can assure you it won't be my last. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster throughout the book.
She has taken a subject that is completely taboo and somehow manage to make it tolerable. Infidelity in any marriage is tough but when the betrayal hits close to home, it's even more devastating.
Mason and his younger brother Vincent were both cops in Atlanta. A chance meeting while they were chasing a suspect resulted in Mason literally running into Cherise. Mason soon realized that he had met the love of his life and wasted no time in making her his wife. The love and dedication for his job soon led to problems in his marriage. His infidelity and inattentiveness led to Cherise to do the unthinkable.
The author has certainly pushed the envelope but the end result is an engaging novel that I found difficult to put down.
Darrien Lee did a phenomenal job with this book. Brotherly Love is based on the love affair of Vincent with his brother's wife, Cherise. The love affair is not born out of the fact that Cherise doesn't love her husband, Mason. The love affair blossoms out of loneliness. Cherise's husband, Mason, is in law enforcement. His job, as an undercover police officer, has him on the go a lot and he ask his brother to watch over his family.
Vincent and Cherise weave a tangled web that has ebbs and flows that are sure to bring forth devastating consequences if the truth is revealed. The ebbs and flows also bring the reader in on the thrills of the illicit affairs, the conscious of those involved and the decisions that must be made out of love. I encourage you to purchase the book to see how they navigate this maze. This book is quick and at every corner you will be glad...that you selected it!
