Cocky Prick

Rate this book
I've always left women hungry for more, but she has me starving.

If a man finds me in his shadow, he better say his prayers. If a woman is lucky enough to find herself in my bed, she better hold on tight for the hottest night of her life. She won’t get another one.

I had no desire to change. Until the day she walked into the bar.

Caitlyn O’Connor was just another client. But one look at her luscious curves, and I knew I had to have her. I wanted to see those plump, soft lips moaning my name as I took her like I knew she needed.

One touch was all it took. And for once, I wanted more.

She’s got a psycho ex-husband after her, and a kid stuck in the middle of it. With nowhere to run, I’ll be the man she needs me to be. I’m cocked and ready to shoot.

But there's a problem; her ex wears a badge. I lay a finger on him, and we’ll have the entire NYPD up our asses.

But I’ve sworn to protect her and I don’t break my word. I’ll kill anyone who tries to hurt her.

I’m addicted to her touch and I’m not letting go.

Cocky Prick is a full-length standalone romance with an HEA. No cheating, and no cliffhanger.

4 Star Kindle Unlimited Read:
Among some of my favorites. Outstanding literary work. The characters are well developed, interesting. The liked characters are likable and the hated are unlikable. The writing is captivating enough to keep you interested until the end and leave you wanting more. It has a fairly original or uniquely well-developed plot. The pretense and romance were well balanced and done with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors, and chemistry. Not so much predictable if at all. Overall, loved it, I recommend reading!!

I loved this book and will for sure read this author's other books.

But I must admit, after the beginning I was sure to hate it...

You know this trend in new adult books where sex and erotica are used without any justification just as a reason to entice readers? And get them excited? Issue is, in this book within the first interaction within the MCs they have raunchy sex and I was rolling my eyes because it was so useless. He told her to prove she's not a cop to have sex with him, and she says yes! A woman who's had one partner before him and never loved it to begin with. Essentially, I have no issue with the raunchy sex at all. But in doing this in the beginning of the book, I lost connection with the h cause realistically she wouldn't have done it. Even the H was so shocked she did. So I thought this would be another book where erotica is used tastelessly. Would it be sexy ? Sure. But you'd lose the depth and connection with the characters.

However I persevered, and I'm so happy I did cause the way this story turned out surprised me. I LOVED this H and the h! And the interactions between the H and the h's kid. So cute!

He's VERY alpha and protective, and SO sweet! I loved the suspense as well :)

All in all, loved it but I would suggest for authors nowadays to have sex scenes were applicable. If she had waited till the h lives with the H and there was build up it would've been amazing.

I have no issues when a book begins with a sex scenes for example when 2 people meet and are so attracted to each other they have a ONS and have sex or so. But here i was rolling my eyes in the opening scene.

I'm glad I carried on though :)

Completely safe btw!

He was supposed to kill for her, but now he'd die for her...

Caitlyn has reached her breaking point. Her abusive ex-husband Harry is stalking her and threatening to kill her and their 6 year old son. Caitlyn has learned how to live on the run, move around and leave few breadcrumbs behind, but since Harry is a police officer, he has access to more information than he should. He always finds her and makes her pay for leaving him. She’s tried and tried again to go to the police and get restraining orders, but his buddies always get them tossed out. Caitlyn is out of legal options and desperate for her and her son to get back to a semi-normal life, at least one where they’re not living on take out in a dive motel.

Caitlyn is the co-founder of a tech start-up, so she’s no stranger to finding what she needs online. She ends up on the dark web, seeking a hitman to eliminate her ex-husband once and for all. Caitlyn meets up with Rocco, the potential hitman and hopes to make a plan to end Harry quickly and quietly. Unfortunately her business attire, Upper West Side hair and makeup and her nervousness sends up a red flag to Rocco, who immediately assumes she’s a cop undercover. Desperate, Caitlyn agrees to prove to Rocco that she’s not a cop and after their clothes are back on, he is convinced that she’s just a desperate woman at the end of her rope. They begin to discuss her situation in more detail and when it comes out that her ex is a police officer, Rocco immediately wants nothing to do with this hit.

Rocco and his brother look into Caitlyn’s predicament further and find out that she’s in a really impossible situation and completely at the mercy of her drunk and vicious ex-husband. Having grown up with a drunk and violent dad themselves and having to watch their Mom suffer at the hands of their dad, Rocco decides he can’t just walk away from Caitlyn and her son Ethan. He offers to have them move into his apartment. For a weekly protection fee, he will keep them both safe from Harry.

For the first time in a long time, once they are settled into Rocco’s apartment, Ethan is able to relax and sleep soundly. Caitlyn feels safe finally, but is at war with her attraction and feelings for Rocco. The passion between Caitlyn and Rocco is incredible and neither of them want to admit that they want more. Their feelings quickly deepen and Caitlyn even starts to ponder if Rocco could someday be a father figure to Ethan. Even though he’s a hitman, he’s been more attentive, kinder and sweeter to Ethan than his own father ever was. Could they be a family someday?

Unfortunately, Harry tracks the trio down and starts wielding his power within the force to cause more trouble for Caitlyn. Can Rocco keep Ethan and Caitlyn safe with a powerful, dirty cop thirsting for their blood? How far will Rocco go to protect the people he’s grown to intensely care for? Can Caitlyn get past Rocco’s mafia family ties to allow the three of them a chance at being a real, loving family?

Very sexy hitman romance with so much steam and suspense, you won’t be able to put it down.
Standalone with no cliffhanger. Perfect HEA & sweet epilogue!

Loved it. I know Tessa is a new author but she has hit it out of the park from her first book.
Caitlyn is running from her ex husband who also happens to be a cop.
Rocco is just the hitman to help her and her little boy Ethan.
I  did cry a few tears a couple of times. Especially at the end of the book with his mother.
I highly recommend reading this.
Steam factor 10 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised by the writing in this book. New authors always make me a bit nervous but Tessa delivers a story that is not only steamy but grabs at your heart in so many ways. Based on the synopsis Caitlyn and Rocco's book could have gone so many ways and Tessa gave us an insta love book that actually felt real at least real within this world. Pinky and Ethan made the story for me...

I got this book based on its high rating and the I interesting blurb. However, if I had to judge this book based on the first five chapters, it would have been one star from me.

Why? Well, I'm not a fan of mafia books like this. It says no where in the blurb that he is a hit man, just that he is supposed to protect her. It admits he's a man whore, and although man whores aren't my thing, i consider this type of classless, mafia crap icky.

But a guy who refers to women as "broads," talks about women like they are conquests, and treats the heroine like a whore the first time they meet isn't winning my vote for book boyfriend of the year. I felt my not-really-feminist heart pound. This hero takes a woman desperate enough to hire a hit man to kill her cop ex-husband (although I don't think they were actually divorced) into a back room so she can prove she's not a cop or wired, and he basically tells her "if you don't have pretty rough sex with me, I won't help you." Then, after he finds out the cop has been abusing her, he says, "Nothing makes me angrier than to find out a man has put his hands on a woman." It seems a bit of a paradox the way he treated her at first and how he wants to protect her after what he learns.

He does change during the book. I mean he is still a hit man and still works with the mob, but his attitude toward her changes gradually. Supposedly, over the course of six weeks, they fall in love. I say supposedly because the passage of time is told to us without the luxury of transitions or any hints they've spent that much time together. It was strange.

I'm not sure I understand why it is so highly revered. Just the first half alone turned me off completely. If some of the sexism had been toned down, I probably would have liked it better.

OMG, WHAT A KILLER!!!!

I love Tessa Thorne is a very good author. She knows how to write an AWESOME Bad Boy and make him loved by all the readers, even if he is a killer!!! “Cocky Prick:” is an example of her amazing writing skills. Rocco is a killer who is deadly and if he is close you better be careful. Your time just may be up. If you are a woman once you are in his bed you will want more but won’t get but one night of his incredible “C*&k”. But Caitlyn O’Connor enters his life. A life he had not intentions of changing. But now he is having second thoughts about that. Caitlyn O’Connor is on the run with her son hiding from an abusive ex-husband. She wants her psycho ex-husband dead and wants Rocco to kill him. Once she proves to him that she isn’t a cop he asks her who the target is. Caitlyn tells him it is her ex-husband and he is a cop for the NYPD. That changes thing considerably except for the fact that Rocco wants her and bad. Not to mention if he pulls this off he will have the whole NYPD after him. But he has sworn to protect he and he will kill anybody tries to hurt her. Will love prevail and will Caitlyn and Rocco be able to pull the hit off? Will they be able to find their Happy Ever After?

This book is one I would recommend you to read. You will not be disappointed.

No Spoilers. Advanced Readers Copy read voluntarily.

I know it's just a story but imagine how difficult it would be married to a wife beating, crooked, connected cop?! I mean, no one on your side, no escape and with a kid too. That's where the heroine is at when she starts her connection to the mob. Hiring a hit man for her ex husband who is a cop.

Things start off exciting in the book where Rocco and his team hit a made man in a very public scenario. This is to send a message to a rival gang. Then we meet Cat who is desperate to have her ex husband killed. Only Rocco isn't allowed to kill the cop so offers her in house protection - that's in his house. So of course things progress from there.

Rocco initially is rough around he edges. Slowly the author softens him because if he kept going the way he was I would have DNF'd this story. The beginning is a bit rough. However, there were still missing parts where we are told of their connection. He never had a direct conversation with Cat about what he went through when he was younger. His brother spoke to her about it. We never really see them connect like that.

It was a solid read 🙃

I absolutely LOVED this book! I do not have enough words to describe how much I love this book. Cat is on her way to being a successful woman in the tech world, however her personal life overshadows her success. She has an abusive ex husband who won't leave her or her son alone. Enters Rocco a cocky, ladies man and made man of the mafia, Cat wants his help in executing her husband. Unfortunately there's a snag and he's unable to take her up.

The development between these 2 are amazing and the relationship that builds between Rocco & Ethan (Cats son) was beautiful! The back stories of Rocco & Pinky (his brother) was very touching. Loved the interaction of the secondary characters as well.

Thank you so much Tessa for this beautiful story!

This time the heroine is hiring the hitman

This very sexy story is an interesting take on the hitman romance genre. Instead of being the target or witness, this time, the heroine is the one taking out the hit. Caitlyn is desperate to protect herself and her son from his abusive father, who is a cop. Since the hitman, Rocco, is told he can't kill a cop, he protects her instead. Caitlyn and her son move in with Rocco, which gives them time to fall for each other.

I love that Rocco teaches Caitlyn how to protect herself and her son. He can't always be at her side, and when he isn't, he doesn't want her to be a sitting duck. (orig 11-27-2016)

I got this book through Kindle Unlimited. It's the first book by Tessa Thorne that I have read. I had no idea it was suppose to be a mafia book. It didn't stat that in the blurb at all.

I really wanted to like this book. It seemed right up my alley. Unfortunately, I was wrong. This one just didn't do it for me. I actually found myself skimming from about chapter 6 on. I ended up skipping most of the sex scenes.

I did like that the h would do anything to protect her son after her now ex-husband beat him and her.

He thought Caitlyn was going to be just another client needing a hit doing but he didn't plan on getting addicted to her. Caitlyn has escaped her abusive ex's grip but he is now stalking her wherever she goes he finds her and her little boy, she sees only one way to stop him......... hire a hitman. That is where is gets difficult because you can't put a hit on a cop even if he is a bad one.
This is a great read and the characters have great humour mixed in with their chemistry.

Dirty,Dirty,Dirty

This book totally got stuck in my head. The characters stayed with me. Tessa Thorne has such a talent for bringing a story to life in your head. It's incredible. I loved everything about this book. The sexual tension oozes out forbid book, it's definitely a panty melting one! Cas is strong and sweet and completely relatable. She is a complete bad a**. Rocco falls hard and fast for Cas. Rocco is a tough guy with a heart, and you want him to win.

Rocco is a made man within the Pavoni Crime Family. He specializes in enforcement. He's a hitman that takes assignments as well as freelance work, with permission from the Boss...of course. One night, Rocco is out with the guys at Franky's bar and he meets Caitlyn. Caitlyn is there to meet with Rocco. She desperately needs his help. What was supposed to be a business meeting turns into something quite the opposite, and in the end, proves to be pointless. Caitlyn needs permanent protection for her young son Ethan and herself. Her ex just so happens to be a cop. A cop Rocco is aware of. Needless to say, Rocco sends Caitlyn on her way.
When Rocco receives more info regarding Caitlyn's situation, he begins to have second thoughts. He may not be able to dispose of her ex, but he can offer her protection. As their lives become more entwined, they give into their growing attraction...again. It seems this hitman for hire is slowly becoming domesticated; that is until Caitlyn's ex realizes what's been going on and her world begins to fall apart once again. This time she may lose her protector.
THIS BOOK WAS WELL WRITTEN WITH AN INTRIGUING STORYLINE !
Caitlyn is smart, strong and fiercely protective of her son. Rocco is a cocky, arrogant hitman with the mafia, who fell hard for Caitlyn. He becomes a better man because of her. I couldn't help thinking of all the different ways to get rid of Caitlyn's ex, Harry. What a POS he was.
Anyway.......ACTION PACKED AND FAST PACED !   TORRID, SCORCHING HOT SEX ! ! !
TESSA DID NOT DISAPPOINT ! ! !

Rocco is a hitman, and he loves his job, the thrill, and when it's an important hit, it's even more invigorating than pleasuring a woman. Caitlyn needs to get rid of her husband Harry before he kills her and their son Ethan. When she meets Rocco, there is an instant physical attraction. When she tells Rocco who she wants taken out, he increases the price. Caitlyn fears she'll be dead before she can raise the funds. Caitlyn's husband has too many connections and he can't just be taken out, but when Rocco sees Caitlyn's face, he knows he has to protect her, and the only way he can think to help her is have her and Ethan move in with him. Soon Rocco learns that Harry is more evil than he thought, and things need to change, even if he has to die to protect Caitlyn and Ethan, he will.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Tessa has done a fantastic job with the characters. I loved the macho tough guy Rocco, and watching him evolve into this sweet protective papa bear that only cared about protecting Caitlyn and Ethan, and watching Caitlyn discover that she's not weak and powerless, but a strong woman. But I must admit my favorite part was that beautiful moment with Rocco and Ethan after Ethan's game. You'll have to read it to understand, but a beautiful touching moment.
