Flying high above a clearing in a forest was a golden eagle. In his talons was a pinecone with one small, very special seed. As it circled a hush fell over the forest. Something magical was about to happen. It is said that animals and small children can sense the magic and wonder of nature in a way most adults can no longer feel. Come share some of that magic that is "The Tree".
Written and beautifully illustrated for children in the 9 to 12-years-of-age range due to its sophisticated vocabulary, the book’s content and themes are also meaningful for adults. One theme, the power of nature, is inherent in how various animals of the forest, through their own instincts to survive, help a seed flourish into its majestic adulthood, and unwittingly care for it in the aftermath. Another theme, the magic of childhood, elicits the awe, wonder, and respect for nature.
The ending of the book is glorious, whereas the cyclical nature of seeds is brought out. Especially admirable are the illustrations which represent children of different ethnicities and physical challenges in a storybook emphasizing the importance of interdependency beyond the nature of a forest habitat.
A sweet story about the magic of nature and the cycle of life. I won this in a giveaway and received it just before Christmas - which ended up being perfectly timed.
It was a great book for children to base there understanding of the magic of nature.
It was a great children's book. I like the fact of it summing up nature. I believe a little more could go into details and more factual design and structure. Yet for a children's book it great and it is very memorable.
Who would have thought that a tree could be the star of a children’s book? Well, Karen Ferrand Carroll’s insightful imagination has created a story about a tree at the top of the bill. The story is not only entertaining, but also educational and heart-warming. Certainly, her charming illustrations add to this delightful read. Highly recommended!
Cute little story showing the interaction of the forest creatures & the development of a special tree. A real tree hugger story & Christmas classic to be. Endearing illustrations , love the bears.
