Dr. Mia Ripley wasn’t even supposed to be a part of the FBI, let alone the best division in the nation.
So far she’d been nearly burned alive by a madman, then shot by a cult leader’s lackey. Mia far preferred to be behind the PAVAD scenes, down in the Medical Examiner’s office where she belonged.
But even that wasn’t entirely safe.
Evan Stephenson had found his place with PAVAD, and it was where he belonged.
Now he had people who cared about him—including friend and neighbor, Mia Ripley. Mia, one of the women his father had nearly killed three years ago.
Someone wants Mia dead, and won’t stop for anything. Evan would do anything to keep her safe.
Calle Jaye is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).
Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?
In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!
Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.
She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.
She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.
They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.
Falling is book 12 in the PAVAD: FBI - Prevention & Analysis of Violent Acts Division by Calle J. Brookes. Dr Mia Ripley loves her job in the Medical Examiner's Office and never thought she would become involved in an active FBI Case. However, she was wrong. Her neighbour Evan Stephenson, also an FBI agent, was in love with Mia, and when someone tried to kill her, he stepped up to protect her. The readers of Falling will continue to follow Dr Mia Ripley and Evan Stephenson to discover what happens.
I found this series by mistake, and I am pleased I did. The stories are fast-moving and engaging, and I always fall in love with her characters. I enjoy the way Calle J. Brookes incorporates all the characters of this series into each plot and how they complement each other. I love Calle J. Brooke's portrayal of her characters and how they interact throughout this book. Falling is well-written and researched by Calle J. Brookes. I like Calle J. Brookes's description of the settings of Falling, which allows me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
The readers of Falling will learn about the consequences for law enforcement officers who believe they can achieve more than they can and how this affects everyone around them. Also, the readers of Falling will understand the importance of having a law enforcement internal affairs unit.
I’ve already read a lot of books in this series and won’t miss any installment coming my way. I love the series!
Having said that I’d also have to say that I had a bit a rough start with this one. Somehow I didn’t like the stress put on how many lovers the female lead had had or didn’t have before she met the male main character. Does this really matter?! However, after this initial difficulty, the book took off and found its footing and rhythm perfectly well. I loved to touch base with characters from previous installments - even the villain! Especially the twist around the “bad guy” and how he fared was nicely done!
Generally a nice read and for fans of the series definitely a must!
I am new to the series and the author but decided if there were this many books it could not be bad. I really enjoyed it. Not knowing all the backgrounds did not matter. I still was completely invested in the outcome. I just wish the author had allowed us to ahare the last letter. Knowing how Evan had finally shared his thoughts and feelings would have been tearjerking . It is a good series and I will be reading more. Thanks for the adventure.
Evan Stephenson and Mia Ripley's story! Evan is still living with the sins of his father and his found his match in Mia. Her life is in danger, which is brought to her attention when Evan's father escapes prison and tells her what he overheard. All ends well though. Hope we get Kyra's story next:)
The interaction of the agents in this series, especially in this story is phenomenal. The story line itself was breathtaking. Bad guys can sometimes not be so bad. Mental illness can change a normal person into to a monster. This added a lot of drama to this story!! Thank you Calle!! This one will not be forgotten quickly.
This volume if the PAVAD series was interesting for the psychological twists and turns of many characters. Loved how the author exposed how issues from the past sometimes need to be seen from new angles to see more honestly how they affect each one of us.
Brookes' PAVAD series is truly riveting! If you like suspense, action, drama, romance and crossover characters and stories you are going to enjoy this book hangover series.
A solid 3½⭐. This series is a great, lighter reading suspense mystery. Don't get me wrong, the storylines are far from light-hearted but these are easy reading. Well written (spelling and grammar errors aside), awesome characters and deep insight are all found in these books.
I have read the whole series and loved each and every one of them. This one is one of my favorites. I love how she writes her bad guy with a touch of his in this one. I love how she shows. That a parents love can last thru anything and it is the strongest love. But mostly I love how it shows forgiveness where needed out not.
I was very sad as I finished this book and realized there were no other books in this series. It was like saying goodbye to some old friends. All the books in this series were great reads, with some harder to put down than others!! I just know that I will be visiting them again! Thanks Calle Brooke's for the great reading enjoyment!!
"Falling," is a solid read from beginning to end. Wonderful, relatable, and resilient characters. A storyline that grabs the readers attention from the start and doesn't let go. Captivating writing throughout. A novel I would highly recommend.
Another pairing in this FBI unit amidst danger, threats, New and old enemies. Love, regret, insecurity, bittersweet memories, redemption of sorts. Great characters...decent plot. Suggest read in order.
