“I was only supposed to use the “CEO credit card” for Mr. Leighton’s coffee and meals, but since he’d been increasingly mean to me over the past few months, I’d been using it on whatever came to mind.”

Me, before reading Naughty Boss

Review
Undoubtedly, it's me and not the book. It's somewhat late in life but I'm thinking I don't like assholey men as much. This must be the reason I failed to connect with Jake Weston (From Turbulence) and also, Michael Leighton, the "Naughty Boss".
Likewise, WG writes the best emotionally angsty female leads for whom, sadly, I can't quite bring myself to care. Combine the two, and it's decidedly underwhelming.
Seeing this is a novella, I didn't expect rainbows and stars and was pleasantly surprised the story appeared almost fully fleshed although I noticed one or two typos, but no biggie.
So the biggest problem I had was Mya London, our h, who was as generic as unbranded granola. Fuckit, I can't abide women who whine about their male bosses particularly when said boss does nothing to engender such disdain. Truth be told, I've worked with two female bosses who behaved much worse than Michael. One was eventually fired and the other moved to a position which required reduced interface with subordinates. Imagine Michael as the male version of Miranda Priestly and bingo, the picture changes.
Mya IMO whined a lot. I didn't like it. It's such a female thing to do. If your job requires you stay an extra hour or 4, then you do it and never have I heard anyone complain to his or her boss about such hours. Guess what Mya did? She told her boss, to his face, that since she stayed 3 hrs past "official closing time", she'd be 3 hours late the following morning. Buahahahah...yeah, good luck with that. I wanted to smack her.
I think the story could have done without the assholey-ness and the repeated emails from Mya to Amy (her bestie) and it still would have worked because Whitney created such chemistry between those two that could have incinerated Trump Towers. Obviously, I'm missing something. Right?
I don't have a problem (much) with having sex in an office, but Michael and Mya's sex-in-the-office-scene was ridiculous and unnecessary; moreover, it was so unexpected I had to double back to confirm if these weren't the same people who'd never even shared a kiss. To go from not ever kissing to full on coitus gave me an attack of le giggles....sigh, so unnecessary.
Certainly, there are several positives. Michael evolving to a more considerate person being one and Mya's work ethic, another. Their relationship- or what there was of it- was also quite endearing.
Overall, for a novella with less than 130 pages it was entertaining, which is more than I got from Turbulence. I remain a fan-for-life of WGW and hold her earlier books (Mid-Life Love and Reasonable Doubt series) as some of my all-time favorites.

For the record, per your email with the subject heading, ‘I Wonder If He Eats Pussy’...” He looked me up and down. “I do eat pussy, and if I ever was going to eat your pussy...If that thought had ever been filthy enough to cross my mind and certain circumstances between us were different, you wouldn’t be able to walk for days after I was done with you...”

"PS - Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours."
Oh. My. Fucking. God."
Subject: My Boss.
Have I already told you that I hate my boss today?

“It was quite apparent that she "hated" me and I almost regretted taking out my sexual frustration on her by demanding so much. Almost.”![]()
“Her mind was damn near as naughty as mine when it came to sex, and it was slightly gratifying to know that the attraction wasn't one sided.”
“What makes you think I’ll be done with you in an hour?”
“Nothing, but my boss is highly obsessed with me being on time for work, and it’s already five o’clock in the morning. If I’m more than a minute late, he’ll send me an email and act like it’s the end of the world.”![]()

When I was finished talking, he stared at me— giving me a familiar look he gave me from time to time. One I still had yet to figure out. It was a cross between the way he looked in my fantasies when he was burying his head between my thighs, and when he was asking me to stay late after work. A look that said he may not be as horrible of a boss I often made him out to be.
It was never personal, and never because she was awful. She was actually the smartest woman I’d ever met, the best executive assistant I’d ever hired, but her unfortunate flaw was being sexy as fuck. Beyond sexy as fuck.
