From best-selling author, Alison Ryan, comes a standalone novel with NO cliffhanger and a guaranteed HEA... And the first in her Alpha Spies and Assassins series...
My father is dead.
That much I know. What I didn't know, was what my father did for a living. I thought he was just a run of the mill lawyer. I was wrong. My father had an entire life I never knew about. One filled with half-truths and plenty of deception.
Nolan Weston is the key to unlocking the lies.
Nolan worked for my father. He was his right-hand man, the one he entrusted with everything. That would include being the executor of my father's massive estate that I just so happen to be the sole heiress to.
I should hate Nolan. He's cold. Arrogant. And he's hiding something.
But I don't hate him at all. I'm drawn to him. After a snowstorm in Tahoe traps us inside my father's luxury digs, the forced proximity opens up the floodgates of our desire.
"It was one of the moments in my life I knew I would remember always. And that as much as I didn't want to feel like I belonged to anyone, at that moment I was completely his, for as long as he wanted me. He might one day be done with me, but I would never be done with him."
Nolan wants to teach me how to please him. I want to learn how to trust him.
But as I've learned, nothing is as it seems. And the man I want to trust might just be the man I need to run from.
WARNING: This is a steamy romance involving an older, experienced alpha male and the young girl he wishes to own. There are twists and turns and it will leave you gasping for more.
This novel was previously published as two books, THE MENTOR and THE MOGUL
Kind of boring/repetitive. Halfway thru the book I knew I didn't like it, but my problem is if I start a book I finish it - in one sitting. So the fact that I stayed up late to finish this doesn't sit well with me or my eyes. I just can't put my finger on it, but this book was blah. There are so many other well written suspense / romance series out there. This one just didn't keep me interested.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book. Alison Ryan had definitely outdone herself the way this series has started out.
WOW this was one of those books that puts on the edge of your seat and keeps you there. I didn't hesitate to give this book 5 stars but in my opinion it really deserves 6 out of 6, that's just how awesome I think it is. This book is filled with mystery, protective parental love and finally the unexpected ending.
Camilla Hunt was a student at UVA and 3 months from graduation when she received the most devastating news of her life. Her father was dead. As she was flown on a private jet, out to one of her father's many homes, where he currently had been living in Tahoe, so many things went through her mind about her relationship, or what she thought was the lack of, with him as she had grown up. She would soon learn things about her father and why he kept her at an arms length.
As she scratched the surface of his life and business she was stunned at what she discovered. She was also stunned at the attraction she felt for his trusted assistant Nolan Weston and soon discovered he felt the same attraction for her.
As much as I hated to eavesdrop, something told me not to make him aware I could hear him. So like I had done just a couple days ago, I stood quietly outside his cracked bedroom door. “… She doesn’t know everything,” he said to whoever was on the other line. “She’s your typical dumb, rich college girl. Only thinking about when she can get her manicured hands on her trust fund Daddy and Mommy left her…”
My heart literally breaks for both of them as more and more of this story unfolds and it appears they will be kept apart. I can't wait to read book 2 of this series!
Spies and affairs of the heart make this a non-stop and heart-pounding romance. I previously bought both The Mentor and The Mogul, and was given the opportunity to review the combined book. I am so glad to have this in one volume! Nolan is an associate of Cami's father. When her father dies, Cami is instructed to meet Nolan, and she's drawn into her father and Nolan's world of intrigue. Nolan is one smooth operator. I had to see if he was lying about his feelings for Cami. He's an older man, while Cami is a college grad. Their chemistry rocked, and I could feel the sexual tension leading up to their hot escapades. Love a strong spy book with a strong heaping of sizzle!
Necessary Lies, by Alison Ryan, is the story of Nolan Weston. I had previously read Odin and Titan, and this is a character mentioned briefly in those books. I love how these stories can be read as stand alones, but they tie together at the same time.
I enjoyed the dynamic between Nolan and Camilla with the mix of danger lurking. Alison Ryan is a masterful story teller with the drama included. It's add a bit more spice & allure to the story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is a very good book. A super sexy mystery full of suspense and some nice twists. I can't wait to see what's next in this wonderful new series. I would highly recommend this awesome story to everyone. I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book.
I had never read this author before but I liked the title of the book so I decided to read. The characters we're great and I loved the story. I can't wait for the next book.
