Taunt

Rate this book
Daniel Schwartz never meant to uncover the apocalypse, unfortunately for her that’s exactly what happened. Yet while it’s clear to the Kiwi hacktivist what she should do; cover it back up and get completely smashed, the rest of the world doesn’t agree. A shady corporation places her in a beachside prison where they promise to hold her until she agrees to talk. Dani would be pretty annoyed if she weren't:

a) Biologically incapable of being annoyed

b) Very intrigued by the men hired to guard her

c) Extremely hungover

John, Colt, and Seb have poured a lot of time and money into their private security business the last thing they need is to waste six weeks babysitting a hyperactive hippie. Sadly they’ve signed a dubious but watertight contract. Each of the three men finds himself drawn to the weird, pop-obsessed Daniel and she to them. As they become entangled in each other’s lives Daniel is forced to answer some big questions such as; how can you escape when there’s nowhere safe to go? How can a commitmentphobe fall for not one, but three different men? And, most importantly, should New Zealanders kick people who call them Hobbits? (Yes.)

Taunt is a heart-stopping erotic thriller; chock full of science, nail-biting suspense, period jokes and good old fashioned lust.

➦If you tripped, fell and hurt one of your limbs (or anything, for that matter) and your reaction was this

Then you would exactly like the heroine of this story. I'm not going to discuss why her name is Daniel. It wasn't as much weird as it was confusing.

➦Daniel doesn't feel pain. There's something screwy with her brain. Instead of agony she experiences crazy fits of laughter and I could totally see how this could be uncomfortable to live with. lol Anywhoooo.

➦She's also some kind of a computer genius who discovers by accident that the world is doomed and will end in 5.5 years while working on some project sanctioned by eco-terrorist group. She then makes a run for it determined to keep it a secret.

➦She finally gets discovered and kidnapped by some bad people who are determined to get information out of her about eco-terrorists and the project she worked on. She is brought into a mansion, locked in it and is being watched by three ex-military guys....

➦She tries making their job all kind of HARD (knowwhatimean?) by walking around near naked and doing all kinds of naughty things while she knows they are forced to watch on camera. They, of course, are all infatuated with her and try to make friends with her. So who gives in first and crosses the line?

➦One thing that I loved about the book was the writing. I was, in fact, impressed by it. It was an enjoyable read, although a bit too long for my liking. This book is 416 pages long but somehow I was compelled to finish it. The author definitely does a good job keeping you in suspense throughout the novel.

➦With that being said, I'd have to admit, that I'm a sucker for any kind of end of the world stuff and one of the main reasons I kept reading was to find out how the author handles the whole "bbye, Earth!" ending. So. Imagine my surprise when I get to the end and discover that this is not a standalone. It needs to be addressed in the blurb somewhere or in the title where it says this is a duet or something.

➦Most of the book was spent on character development. There are 3 guys and one woman so, naturally, you'd need more pages. The sex scenes were well done, albeit could have used more detail in some cases.

➦So here's what I think: I'm not entirely sure this book knows that it wants to be. Is it an erotic novel? Is it a sci-fi thriller? If you were looking for gang-bang erotica this kind of misses the mark. It is too slow burn and if you're looking for strictly smut you would get bored before you even got to the "good stuff." If you are looking for sci-fi then this doesn't have enough juice in it. Not enough sci-fi facts/explanations and, while I enjoyed the action at the end, I wished for more of it.

➦So I suppose this book is a hybrid, having a little bit of sci-fi mixed in with a complicated polyamorous relationship. If that's what you are looking for along with likable and well-developed characters then you read it and be the judge!

I vividly recall when author Skye Warren raved about this book Taunt and I wondered what the hype was all about. The verdict? Taunt was fucking fantastic in the wackiest way imaginable. I would bet that this book is not for all, but this author does it for me. The characters were real, flawed and out of their mind nuts. This storyline was unique, and had me wondering where this author dreamed up this plot. My only criticism is that this is a long ass book and I found it a little too wordy in places.

Daniel Schwartz (BTW is a chick) is a hippie hacktavist who has pissed off one too many organisations and thus is now on the run. Although a genius, Daniel has a condition that doesn’t allow her to feel emotion or pain. With the mouth of a trucker, it’s made her a loose cannon. Plus it doesn’t help that she uncovered a catastrophic secret.

Daniel woke up every morning full of champagne bubbles, just wanting to float, burst and tingle. It wasn’t by choice. Her brain, through some quirky birth defect, produced superhuman levels of endorphins. Daniel waded through life on the kind of blissful high millennials chased in nightclub toilets.

John, Colt and Seb are ex military men who have just founded their own private security company. With an offer too good to resist, they accept a six week round-the-clock security gig for a person of interest that happens to be Daniel. What they hadn’t anticipated was that Daniel was actually a girl.

They didn’t expect that their ‘prisoner’ would be stunning but also batshit crazy. Daniel would do her utmost to provoke them and plan her escape. But as time progresses their annoyance is certainly turning into lust. As they get to know Daniel her quirkiness and lack of filter makes her that more appealing.

But when Daniel puts in an official request to be ‘serviced’ all bets are off. What follows is some seriously creative sex between a willing dirty girl and 3 well equipped soldiers. Be prepared for a side of kink and lots of sharing. Fortunately they’ll go the extra mile to protect her when it counts and even if the world could be potentially ending...

I have no idea how to rate this book so…3.5 stars? Here you go.

Taunt is a character-driven story, which is great because Eve Dangerfield’s character building is awesome. Unique and clever and so so funny.

Take Daniel Schwartz, the heroine of Taunt. Daniel is a child prodigy from New Zealand with a brain condition that keeps her constantly pumped full of endorphins and other happy chemicals. She’s always riding high and incapable of feeling pain or shame. You could tell her the world’s ending and her smile would not budge. (In fact, this happens in the book.)

A forcibly happy person like her would definitely choose a fitting job for her life, right? Comedian, maybe? Nope. She’s an eco-terrorist who steals from the rich, hacks into government databases, and blows up oil rigs for a living. (You have to respect it, honestly.) She’s also a sex-positive party girl who can at any given point be found with 2-7 different hard drugs in her system.

So while Daniel is kind of a lunatic, she is HILARIOUS. I laughed so much reading from her point of view. Nothing gets her down, so she always has a snappy comeback ready, and her perpetual chipper mood drives most people miles up the wall.

Some examples:
Every club had a Fuckwit Hour, the time in which dudes were drunk enough to dance without feeling their sexuality was being called into question and pursue bedmates with the grim determination you’d expect from the Zodiac Killer.
Daniel didn’t mind enthusiasm, but on the whole, she preferred men whose modus operandi wasn’t to irritate women into fucking them.

Purple Shirt pressed his rubbery mouth to her ear.
“Talk again, and I’ll kill whoever hears you.”
“Got it.” Daniel shot him a smile. “Also, I have ear herpes. Sorry. So do you now.”

She was in a car wearing handcuffs and a thick black blindfold.
“Kinky,” she said, her voice croaky from disuse.
“Ma’am, she’s awake.” That was Alan—the little needle-sticking fuck.
“Excellent,” a woman replied. She had the kind of crisp British accent that made you think of barristers in white wigs.
“Margaret Thatcher?” Daniel croaked. “Is that you?”

“Your childhood doesn’t concern Middlebend. We’re interested in your adult accomplishments.”
“You mean figuring out how to smoke weed out of a nectarine?”

At the beginning of this book, Daniel stumbles across life-changing information: she discovers that the apocalypse is nigh. Earth has about six years left. Nobody knows this except a select few people. I really thought this would be what the plot is about, but no. Not at all. This is barely even mentioned AT ALL. Wow, this book is weird.

What the plot’s actually about is Daniel’s sex life. She gets kidnapped and held in a (rather luxurious) prison with three guys hired to watch her and keep her contained. All three men take a reluctant interest in her, and over a few weeks they fall in love.

What does this have to do with the world ending? Uh… Nothing.

So, I was a little disappointed since I was expecting a dystopian book and got only porn. Porn is a pretty good consolation prize, but still. I wanted at least a little bit of a Walking Dead vibe, or maybe a Don’t Look Up vibe.

The other thing that threw me off was the focus on one of the three guys hired to watch Daniel—John, the leader of the guys. The other two, Seb and Colt, were really great characters and men I could categorize as your classic romance “dream boyfriends”.

John however has a kink that is so not my cuppa—so not my cuppa that we’re not even in the same kitchen here. He’s a sexual sadist who’s into humiliation and degradation, that is, he’s into using women’s bodies for personal gratification with no regard to their pleasure. (In fact, there’s one sex scene where he tells Daniel "for all intents and purposes, you have no clit” LMAO wtf!)

This is the kind of intense kink that REALLY NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CONTENT WARNINGS UPFRONT PLEASE AND THANK YOU. So that I can AVOID IT. Daniel calls herself a switch and is down to try this out with John, but even she feels uncomfortable and vaguely “empty” after the first time they try it together. Because he's not even good at the kink he himself is into. Just…rough. Not for me. At all.

And even if that is your cuppa, I’d think that you would want someone who properly respects kink safety and is, outside of the bedroom, someone who takes care of their partner. The appeal of most kinks is supposed to be that it’s a reversal of dynamics in ordinary life, right?

But oh no, you’re not gonna get any of that from John. Aside from the not-for-me kinks, John also just sucks as a person. He’s standoffish, rude, cold, and to top it all off he’s insecure and a super selfish dom. Everything I hate in a hero! Wow! Fuck you, John!!!!

So basically if John was not in the story it might have been a five-star read. (And some apocalypse plot also, please.) With John included, it’s more like 3.5 stars.

First of all, this was not what I expected. It was more. Daniel is unapologetic in her way of being and that's what makes her all the more likeable. She is being guarded by three sexy men, John, Colt, and Seb. Though they try to resist her charms, she wiggles right on into their hearts anyways. She is hilarious in her dealings sometimes skirting the edge of too much. The plot was very interesting and unique. Everything from Daniel's name and special ability, to what she has discovered and who hires the men, is well thought out and executed. The pieces fit together well and hint at more interesting goodness to come.

Even though it's considered to be a little on the lengthy end, and especially because we are left without a resolution to something critical, I honestly devoured it without much mind to the page count. I found that it kept me entertained steadily throughout, which can be a challenge for a book in general, nevermind one that took its time to flesh out the characters in this way. I would say that the characterization definitely allowed for development in all of the characters, though some more than others. I would have liked to know more about John, as he seems to be the leader but the one we know least about. It was interesting to read the interactions with Daniel and each of the men because they definitely contrasted and made the dynamics more fluid. Not to forget, the sexy times were seriously hot. /fans self... All in all, this was a great read with something fresh to offer and I am looking forward to seeing what's next for the quartet.

This was something different for me, this was kinda outside my usual read.. I was really surprised how much I like it- impending apocalypse- come-on totally not me- but I enjoy the read

Daniel partying across Europe with her friend, losing her friend along the way.. Daniel is capture in London, what on earth is a hacker to do? This is where Daniel meets the ex-military security trio- Very hot ex-military security trio might I say

John, Sed & Colt own a security business & they have been hired to work a case in Santa Monica. And trust me they work the case very well.. They are supposed to be guarding an eco-terrorist in a safe house. Daniel, is an eco-terrorist, she is on the run from a shady organization & these three men have been hired to keep her safe. Question is who is going to keep Daniel safe from them? She has uncovered evidence that the end of the world is near. Daniel somewhat weird. She also believed in “free love",, something we don’t really see these days.

So this was a fun & funny Erotic Thriller –with plenty of suspense. It had few twists & turns long the way. It also had some sexy ménage scenes -“ Very Hot Ménage Scenes -So warning if you aren’t into Hot Ménage Scenes this book isn’t for you “LOL”

➦Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion

WELL WELL WELL, what a fabulous little read this book turned out to be. When I was approached to read/review this ARC I wasn't 100% sure. The apocalypse, hackers, bio-terrorists, are not usually my thing, but the blurb intrigued me. So I decided to step outside my box and give it a go, and man am I glad that I did!

description

This had an intriguing, well-paced (for the most part), original plot. It had interesting and well developed (for the most part) characters. It had twists and turns. It had sexy menage times. It had humor, and it was very well written.

So, why not 5 stars you ask? Well, this book is on the longer side (in comparison to what I normally read) and I found it a wee bit wordy at times. Because of that, it dragged for me in places (mostly through the middle section.) I thought a little too much time was spent with John, Seb, and Colt watching Daniel and her pulling hilarious stunts to annoy them. I wanted them to get on with the "romance" that was brewing.

I also wanted John to be more developed. I feel like Seb (as well as Daniel) were the most developed. A little less Colt, and then John. I wanted his "kink" explored more. I feel like we didn't get to "know" him as well as the others. That said, it does appear as if there is going to be a book two, so hopefully we'll get more into John (and the ongoing apocalypse baddie situation) in that book.

Overall, this was a cracking good read. With action, humor, romance, and sex. So two really big thumbs up from yours truly.

I recently read my first book by Eve Dangerfield and instantly needed more of her. Taunt intrigued me the most and I was really excited to get more sexiness from this author. Unfortunately that was almost the only thing I liked from this story.

The premise of a heroine being held by three ex-military men had me sitting right up and saying yes, please. And throughout the book I really liked that we got to see how she interacted with all of them and they each had their own reaction to her. But I also felt like the story was really drawn out and it made it a little too boring for me at times. There was a lot of story involved for just the heroine and it took away from me believing that she could feel something for these three men that se never really got to know.

The reasoning for Daniel, the heroine, being locked up was kept in the dark for almost the whole story and instead of finding that suspenseful I found it a little annoying and confusing. I wanted at least a few hints to keep my interest but sadly the never came. I was interested in getting to see what happened by the end with her and her three men, though and that mixed with the sexiness saved the story for me.

Taunt is the very first erotica book I’ve read and I admit I find it hard to fall in love with the story in the beginning.

For starters, I’m blown away by the blunt reaction and daring, flirtatious conversation where the female main character, Daniel (yep, she’s a badass GIRL with a dude’s name), is involved. She has such a sharp tongue and isn’t fazed by whatever people throw back at her. Truth to be told, I do love that about her afterward. Even though I’m not used to all those slangs, I do appreciate them in an unexpected way gradually. Therefore, after I’m fully immersed into the story and its setting, Daniel’s adventure picks up quickly.

What makes her special is the fact that she may or may not be an ordinary human being. I truly like the slight paranormal element in the book because it brings this sort of erotica fiction into a whole new level. Like I said, after learning Daniel isn’t normal, I’m more fascinated about her supernatural abilities such as feeling the electricity in her bloodstream or the mysterious telepathy with one of her bodyguards.
Among a lot of other things, Elkin had failed to mention that Daniel was some kind of genetically modified superhuman. She slept less than three hours a night, she could read full novels in eighty minutes and she had an engineer’s knowledge of electricity, thermodynamics and machinery.

Frankly, Daniel works for some high-tech company and plays a crucial role in some sort of confidential program. That’s why she’s “escorted” to California and prisoned to a holy moly luxurious mansion with three young, single, hot security guards.

They’re known as John, a green-eyed with an icy stare guy, who’s obsessed with S&M and pairing up with some other guys while hooking up with women; Colton (Colt), John’s partner—both in work and sex life—whose mind is as filthy as it can be; Sebastian (Seb), the youngest of all and is probably the most innocent guy whose ex is a high school sweetheart.

Among the three of them, I personally prefer Seb because, well, at least he doesn’t show the alpha male characteristics in the story like John or Colt sometimes do, and also because he’s not that dominant in bedroom. I just have a soft spot for him! He’s awkward and shy and cute in every possible way; particularly when he’s alone with the gorgeous, sexy, seductive Daniel. His brain seems to choose to be absent whenever he’s around her and that heats up the story to some extent.

Despite the fact that there’s obviously a threesome here, I realize it doesn’t bother me like most love-triangles do while reading it. It’s probably due to the characters’ backgrounds so that the arrangement is totally okay for me. I mean, it’s not just about people f*cking or whoring; there’s something huge happening behind the curtain.

Hence, it turns out that John, Seb, Colt and Daniel are manipulated by an acquaintance. They’re the perfect puppets in the show and no one figure that out until almost the end of the book. Therefore, the revelation kind of propels everything insinuated in the previous chapters and makes their behavior all the more understandable.

Besides, since Daniel apparently isn’t a normal person, it’s a big deal for her to feel humanlike. Thus, I appreciate that she finally attaches to that subtle tug emotionally after all these days with the guys. Another reason I admire her is that she’s a real genius sometimes. She’s not just a beautiful chick with big breasts and no brain; she’s smarter than most people and the words coming out from her mouth make better sense compared to the rest of them. For example, here’s one I absolutely love and dang, ain’t it true?
Trapped in a cell, that felt more like a warm luxurious bubble these days, she’d forgotten that things were always morphing into something else. Coal into diamonds, dormant volcanos into death snares, friendships into…more than friendships.

All in all, it’s an interesting read for me and I surely experience something I’ve never had before throughout the reading process. This isn’t my typical genre of books, but thankfully, it’s not a disappointment at all! So if you enjoy reading erotica with a perfectly thought out plot, Taunt is definitely the book you’re looking for!

Daniel and her best friend are hiding in Paris. They discovered something awful about the future on our planet. After her miserable friend decides to abandon her, Daniel runs in London. She is a free spirit, a free and independent woman who lives her life how she pleases. She is so crazy, in the good and funny way. Not to mention, Hot and Sexy as hell. Unfortunately, she is captured by the mean people how wanted to know what she and her best friend discovered.

In the meantime in New York, some 3 hot sexy ex-military from a security firm are hired to guard a dangerous ecoterrorist in Santa Monica, in a special house. I laughed so hard when they met with the “dangerous terrorist”. Now starts the real war.

My John

My Colt

My Seb

What happens next and how the things evolve, I let you find for yourself.
From all the guys, John was my favorite, although I would have liked to have known him better. For him to be more present and especially to know his thoughts better.
I’m telling you only this….I laughed so hard from the beginning to the end. It has a unique subject. For me this book contains all I’m looking for reading..super funny, super hot, action and suspense. I was expecting a little more hot and even darker. But it was ok even this way. Don’t let the blurb fool you. It’s an amazing book. I just couldn’t put my kindle down. It killed me. I was reading day and night, I was reading while I was cooking, even on the toilet, non-stop.

Sweet lord almighty, what an awesome book. Brilliant story line. Page melting sexiness. The entire plot took me by surprise. Eve Dangerfield has a new fan.

Don't let the "End of the World" tags deter you. This isn't an apocalyptic novel. It's really smart erotica, with a quirky, badass heroine and three unique, lovable, ex-military heroes. Absolutely spellbinding.

Wild, crazy and adrenaline pumping describes this unexpected gem. Full disclosure, Ms. Dangerfield contacted me and asked if I would take a look at her book. I recently read a sweet kinky story by her and eagerly agreed. What I didn't expect was to be blown out of the water with this exciting new series. The premise of this story is unconventional and threw me off. I thought it was going to be a sexy ménage and perhaps a little bit of a suspense. Instead, I'm pulled into an end of the world scenario with eco-terrorist, former military and kinky as hell sex scenes.

Let's start with the plot because there is so much to write about regarding the sex. The plot is intriguing and whilst a bit farfetched for end of the world, it is still plausible. The way the story is laid out, it is captivating because only a little bit of information is provided and it's hard to tell the end game. The secrets the main character, Dani keeps alluding seem to be exaggerated. Who would believe her? Ms. Dangerfield does a nice job of keeping the reader's focus on the plot despite of all the sexy time.

The characters in this story are well written. Ms. Dangerfield is two for two on character development. It could be so easy to interchange the three sexy men: John, Colt and Seb in the story. Instead, Ms. Dangerfield is able to create unique characters that it made it easy for me to distinguish between these three sex gods, er private security men. Their interaction with Dani is priceless and amuses me to no end. The conflict Ms. Dangerfield creates between the captured and her guards is messy, complicated and a hoot. Dani is no shrinking violet and the men who try to be good find it hard to resist her charm.

I loved the way the three men begin to get closer to Dani. The level of intimacy between prisoner and prison guard is twisted in this story and it's so deliciously bad. When the subplots are revealed, it is diabolical and I love it. Ms. Dangerfield threw in a twist that caught me off guard and I liked it.

Now let's talk about the sex. Oh my ever loving … the sex in this story is right up my alley. It is arousing as John controls the sex between Colt, Seb and Dani. Dani is one lucky lucky gal as she receives loving in three very different ways. Ms. Dangerfield taunts the reader with constant sexual tension. When it finally explodes, I'm ready to pop too. The constant edging with glimpses of Dani's sexual marathon will keep a reader's vibrator humming. There are few writers who can bring a suspense story to the next level with kinky sex. Ms. Dangerfield is one of them. When this story ended, I could only think about the next story in this series. Since it isn't out yet, I re-read this story a few more times, especially the sexy parts. This speculative fiction is filled with suspense and smoking hot erotica. Highly recommended to the kinky crowd looking for something different.

Well, I think this has to be one of the more original books I have read.

I adored the heroine. By far and away the quirkiest, funniest kick ass heroine I have read in a looooooonnnnngggg time!

This book was so different from anything I have read, it was like a breath of fresh air! It was exciting and funny and I could not wait to find out what would happen.

The sexual tension between the heroine and the three guys built up brilliantly, and John, Seb and Cole!! Loved them, all three bringing something different. Sweet Seb, funny sexy Colt and dark brooding kinky John!

This book was action packed, funny, sad, tense, hot, suspenseful and just downright awesome. I have never read anything like it before, definitely interested to see what else this author can do.

Loved loved loved it!

4 stars! This is a good book! It is so different than anything I have read recently, in a great way. This is a menage romance, but also has a bit of a futuristic/dystopian theme. This is the story of Daniel, a young woman who works for a grassroots, eco-terrorist organization. While working for her organization and doing research on the polar ice caps, she discovers something really terrible by accident - . Ever since her discovery, Daniel has been on the run from her organization and anyone else who might find out the secret. But she is kidnapped by a dangerous corporation who suspect she has a secret and want to know what it is. She is held against her will in a house in California. Seb, Colt and John are former military men that now run a private security/investigations firm. They are hired to keep Daniel under house arrest and watch her. They do not know anything about Daniel or her secrets, but they each find themselves drawn to her. Gradually, they go from watching her on camera, to talking with her by intercom and then meeting her and spending time with her. Daniel is such a special character that is not hard for the men to fall for her. They each begin their own relationships with her, which gradually leads to them all coming together. But the corporation that hired the men turns out to be dangerous and the group must escape for their own safety. The men find out Daniel's secret and the group must decide what the best course of action is for them all- and for the world's future!

This is a slow burn, menage romance. It is long (which I really liked) at 366 pages, which I felt it needed all of those pages to set up the story. It takes awhile after the characters meet before they give in to their feelings for each other and start a physical relationship. (Which, once they do get to, is HOT!) Their emotional relationships come into play even before the physical. Daniel is a really great character. She is totally unique. She is a genius and she has a few other quirks (inability to feel pain, chemical imbalances, happy all the time or at least smiling all the time, even if it was inappropriate, etc. ). But she is beautiful and so funny. Daniel is unafraid or ashamed of anything. I loved her personality. She made the best of a bad situation and it was not hard to see why anyone would fall in love with her. The guys (John, Seb, and Colt) all had their own unique personalities and their relationships with Daniel started individually before coming together in the end. I enjoyed seeing each relationship develop as each man gave into his feelings for Daniel. When they all got together as a group, the chemistry was explosive!

I really liked the story. It was so unique and interesting. My only complaint was that I wanted more! I didn't realize that this was the beginning of a series and that Daniel and her men's story will continue in the next book. So I am very much looking forward to more from this series in the future!

This book was really unique, interesting, smart and had an intricate story. It is exciting, sexy, suspenseful and fast-paced. It was the best book I have read from Eve Dangerfield so far and I can't wait to read more from this gang!

I was lucky enough to receive and ARC from the author and boy did this book not disappoint!

Trust me when I tell you you've never read a story quite like this one.

This book is so unlike anything I've read before. I was so excited to give this book a shot because the plot is so unique. First of all, who knew the end of the world could be so damn hot. Like really fucking hot. John, Seb, and Colt were the perfect balance of alpha, sexy, mean, and caring. I'd be glad to have just one of them let alone all three.

Daniel, (yes, that is a girl) had me actually laughing and snorting out loud at her inability of being embarrassed. The things that came out of her mouth were so entertaining, add that with the banter between the three men and you have one hell of a character lineup.

The plot is very bold and daring and was put together pretty well. I was a little confused in the beginning but as the story progressed everything became crystal clear and by the end I was panicking that this is a series and not a standalone because I have a A LOT of questions.

Luckily, it's a series and I can't wait for the next book! ;)

I absolutely loved this story and found that once I started it I couldn’t stop. Taunt is so different to any other book that I read that I didn’t know what to expect from it. But I as surprised with how much I enjoyed this book and the different twists and turns that happened throughout the book. This is an ménage book that does have an apocalypse theme too it. I wasn’t sure about reading a book with this type of theme, but I absolutely loved it because it showed how amazing the author’s imagination is and how great they are at telling a story.

There are three guys within the story that are great guys, but when they’re all together they are amazing. Their qualities compliment each other perfectly and makes for some steamy moments throughout the book. The leader and dominant one of the three guys is John who is a bit of a mystery at first. But after reading his point of view and learning more about him I found that I enjoyed him the so much because of the way he was always stoic and always seem to be in control. The other main character Colt was such a fun and entertaining character that I found myself laughing so many times at the things that he say or does. Seb was such a sweetheart and so many ties throughout the story I was smiling with the innocent and sweet ways of Seb. All three of these guys are completely different from each other but together they have such a strong bond. I enjoyed all three of these guys and the way that they are together.

Daniel was one of the funniest characters that I have read in a book, she had me laughing so many times. She has such a unique personality that made me lover her character so much. Daniel or also known as Dani is a free spirit that does what she wants and doesn’t let anyone tell her differently. She is an incredible smart woman that can’t feel pain. I felt for her when she shared some of the memories that she share of when she was younger and the way that’s eh was made to feel like she was different from everybody. Daniel was an absolutely crack up that I absolutely loved reading about.

Taunt is about Daniel Schwartz who uncovers a secret about the end of the world and sees her being captured by a shady corporation to find out what she knows. However, Daniel is being monitored by three sexy men who are charge of babysitting her during the period of her capture. All three of these men find themselves drawn to Daniel and sees them becoming entangled with each others lives.

Overall, I absolutely loved this story and found that it was unlike anything else I have read before. The story took me for a ride with the amount of twists there were in the story. There were so many times throughout the book that I was cracking up because of the antics the characters were getting up to. There were a lot of steamy moments throughout the book as well. This book I definitely recommend for everyone whose looking for a good laugh or just enjoy a different type of romance story.

Holy Smokes, what a book. Taunt by Eve Dangerfield was one of those books that just blew my socks off. You know when you read a book that makes you so darn happy and excited at the same time, well, Taunt was that book that really that had my toe curling, tongue tied and seriously in a frenzy. I was so high about the book. Taunt consumed me to the brink. That book was a guilty pleasure that totally had me hooked from the first page to the last page. Taunt is an erotic romance with a lot of epic proportions. I was definitely drawn to it.

Taunt was such a phenomenal book. I felt like I was transported to another universe while I was reading it. You know when makes you react so much, well that is when you know the book is fantastic. And Taunt was more than fantastic but it was just so freaking amazing. Everything clicked in this book. Every page in the book has so much life and honest writing that really spoke volumes. I totally commend Eve Dangerfield for giving us a book that screamed originality with an air of articulation and beauty. The writing totally had me glued to the book. My attention was only on the book. Taunt had the right doses of action, intensity, angst and dark edge that totally caused the most delicious and exciting shivers on my body. There were dark and suspense elements that totally had me on the edge through out. I loved every moment. I loved the journey the book took me. I was happy. I was laughing I was sad. I was angry. I was giddy. I felt every single emotion that some parts of the story moved me. I was surprised they were some light moments that were so fresh and carefree. Taunt had a dose of everything you want in a book. Plus damn, the sex scenes should be illegal lol because they were hot as fuck. I swear I thought the sex scenes were going to blow up the circuits on my kindle lol. They were full of passion and well balanced in the book.

Taunt had four characters with such diverse and dynamic edge to them. They each balanced each other out and both added a unique direction in the relationship. I loved Daniel. She was sassy, fun, sarcastic, brash and badass. She is someone I want to be friends with. John was always control, cruel and a bit of an ass. Colt was fun, cocky and reliable guy. Seb was sweet and totally that good guy with some good morals. Both these characters had an unconventional relationship but it worked. They had amazing off the charts chemistry and banter. They really worked well together. I loved that the author showed us the risk and doubt of having a relationship like John, Colt, Seb and Daniel.

Taunt was an exceptional book. I loved it to so damn much that I can shout to the the heavens. It is also introduced me to an author I will definitely reading again. I cannot wait when she writes a book about John, Colt, Seb and Daniel. I would love that.

Rating:

I pick up this because it is an erotic thriller and the premise that this is an end of the world novel, or not. You be the one to judge.

And that is one thing my mind kind of latch on so I expected technicalities and jargons and terms that would make me excited and giddy and my blood to rush in anticipation. I was thrilled to discover secrets and be frustrated with suspense. But it wasn’t something I expected. It was so much more in a good way, and less in some.

Daniel, she’s a female yes, has some kind of a weird genetic code that makes her emotional reactions to situations and events in her life weird. It’s actually hard to explain except that she’s that super happy person in all situations that you want to kill her just so you could wallow in depression. But that’s what made her intriguing and mysterious in some way. She’s also a genius, has no shame and a very sexual person.

And there’s John who has a third eye. For me, he’s someone in touch with the spirit world in a way that he has premonition of the future. It’s what burdens him somehow as he feels it as a weight he carries and makes him a hard ass, or a bastard, whichever you prefer.

There’s also Seb. Cute Sebastion. Blonde, sweet, innocent and from Tennessee. All American lover boy. He’s just someone you wanted to corrupt. *wink*

And lastly, but not the least, Colt. Silver fox, playful, romantic, and sometimes acts like he’s still a teenager.

This novel seems to have it all. Action, three men that you could choose from because they’re the sort of the perfect boyfriend you wanted and all, secrets to uncover, sexual tension and passion that needed to be burned and that will make you all kinds of hot (*fans self*) and corporate espionage. My kind of thing, actually.

What fell short for me though are the secrets I haven’t been able to uncover and minute details that are unclear to me. I guess I wanted to know how Daniel does things and not just she did those things. I just wanted a little more thrill and action and suspense, and probably because I couldn’t enjoy the fact that Daniel couldn’t feel any physical pain that the blood and torture didn’t make it enjoyable for me. (A little sadistic here!)

Anyhow, I enjoyed reading this book nonetheless. If you ever want to pick and read this up, please prepare your end of the world survival kit and your panties to be soaked! Lol!

Thoughts while reading Taunt:
OMG, did she just say that?
I can't believe he just did that.
That's hotttt...
What the hell is going on?
Thoughts after reading Taunt: What did I just read?!

Trying to sum up Taunt is almost impossible. Try "a paranormal-tinged, romantic suspense thriller that at times takes backseat to a totally in-your-face ménage power struggle that is unlike any ménage you've ever read before." It is a book that requires patience because so many of the early chapters create more questions than answers, and so does the ending.

Taunt is such an apt name for this story that teasingly challenges so many rules of Romancelandia. If a girl is held captive by a hot guy, she'll fall for him...what if there are three hot guys? The men are the ones who control the ménage, right? Right?

So many rules are broken here. There's no shy virgin who needs a good man or three to free her inner sex kitten. Sure, Daniel's (yes, that's her name) the one under lock and key by three sexually frustrated guys but her sly smarts and sexuality are what's keeping the guys in place. Unlike most ménage romances, John, Colt, and Sebastian had no intention of sleeping with their prisoner, much less engaging in a ménage. Everyone struggles, not just with finding their own freedom, but with what they think sex and love and power really mean. It's a messy, nasty battle with surprisingly sweet undertones.

The ending threw me off a bit, as I didn't realize Daniel, John, Colt and Seb's story would continue in another book. But while this is technically a HFN, I'm okay if their story ends here.

Total disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a honest review. The author was a new discovery for me this year and while I look forward to her future stuff, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have picked up Taunt because of that wacky blurb. I'm glad she offered the ARC because this was one hell of a trip.

When I get a copy of an Eve Dangerfield book in my hands, I crack it open with great excitement and Taunt was no exception. Why? Because this author delivers. Her humour is outstanding, her romances are sexy and the characters make you care. Taunt did something more as well. This romance took me right out of my comfort zone but not for the reasons you'd suspect. A menage romance, it definitely cranks up the heat. My comfort zone fizzled into nothingness upon meeting heroine Daniel (no typo). Daniel is like no other heroine I've ever met and I wasn't always convinced that was a good thing. She rubbed me the wrong way many times. Of course, being an Eve Dangerfield creation, there is a reason for the chafing. Daniel is different and I won't spoil the book by telling you just how different. Suffice to say, she is my polar opposite and I didn't quite know what to make of her. BUT...and this is the big BUT...the author MADE me like her. By the first third of the book, I was rooting for Daniel. I think this is a testament to Ms. Dangerfield's talent. She shows us people aren't one dimensional. They make bad decisions, they mouth off, they "taunt" those around them. And oh, how Daniel taunts the men who've been hired to watch her. Seb, John and Colt are delicious heroes, and for a menage romance, they are well delineated. We always know who is talking. We see their distinct personalites. We believe the fantasy romance can work. There are question marks toward the end and I believe the author has more in store for us with this story. Taunt is raw and edgy and in your face. If you like your romance pretty and sweet, look elsewhere. However, if you want some extreme fantasy and the stuff of dreams, read Taunt.

Wow... What can I say?? I've never been so into a story where I just wanted to read in one setting... Sadly real life kept buzzing in! Lol

I'm not the type to rehash the storylines as I'm a firm believer that we just enter into a book without knowing the whole story...
However I can say, I really enjoyed reading this book, Daniel (I have to say Dani in my head saving the confusion as she is a female) Once I've kept that in my head, all is fine! lol .... But the added bonus is that we get 3 amazing guys!
Oh yeah!! Meet John, Colt & Seb... I'll leave it there!

This Author honestly never disappoint me with all of her books, she just delivered a good, damn amazing stories!

First of all I would like to thank the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. Truthfully, I probably would not have picked this book up if she had not approached me. I am not a futuristic, scientific, eco-terrorist type of reader. And because of this oversight and reluctance to step outside my comfort zone, it would have caused me to miss out on a fantastically superb read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to others.

This book is really not about the Apocalypse and the environmental damage that is being done to the Earth. It is about four people finding love that is unconditional and without barriers. To commit to that love without fear of the stigma of loving more than one person. Love cannot be defined easily or simply - it is rare and incomparable to any other.

Taunt is filled with suspense, action, manipulation, intrigue, and let’s not forget about the hot sex with a bit of kink. Who doesn’t like a good menage?

I was completely entertained with the heroine of the story. She is witty, unbridled, and hilarious. Her flirtatious banter and clever comebacks had me laughing throughout the story. She is a unique and distinct character, that intrigues you from the beginning of the story.

Her three military jailers, all with contrasting characteristics that offset each other, give the the story the diversity it needs to become the outstanding book that it is. Each attracting the reader with their individuality that makes it possible to fall in love with them completely.

The author should be commended on her development of the characters and her ability to connect the attraction of each character so elaborately, that it seduced the reader, and brought the story line the inevitable edge that it has.

Eve Dangerfield has found herself another follower, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I generally do not read books that are of the dystopian, apocalyptic or paranormal genre, but the synopsis to Taunt had me hooked to say the least. Who doesn't want to read about three, sexy as all get out, ex-military men and their current job. Throw in a feisty, sexy, brunette and all bets are off. Taunt is a roller coaster ride of suspense, thrills, humor and a huge dose of sexiness!

John, Sed and Colt own a security business and they have been hired to work a case in Santa Monica. Their case had me in hysterics. They are supposed to be guarding an eco-terrorist in a safe house. Daniel, is an eco-terrorist, she is on the run from a shady organization and these three men have been hired to keep her safe. She has uncovered evidence that the end of the world is near. She has spent the last little while partying across Europe with her friend and when said friend decides to check-out, things just get even crazier.

Seriously... if you the reader has issues with menage stories than this one is not for you. I on the other hand love a good, gripping, sexy romance filled with alpha men and a sexy lady. I really do not want to say much more about the story line, Eve Dangerfield is a genius with this book. I was sucked in and am still reeling from the story. The characters are extremely well developed, the plot is refreshing, gritty and gripping. Just when you think you have it all sorted out, you are sent in yet another direction chasing the answers to the story. Filled with plenty of suspense, sex appeal and humor, this was an awesome read!

Title: Taunt
Author: Eve Dangerfield

Taunt by Eve Dangerfield was a great 5 star read.

This is definitely different from what I normally read and I really enjoyed it.
Apocalypse, bio-terrorists, 3 hot alpha males, smart mouth female

Daniel and Cynthia are hiding out from Grassroots in Paris. Cynthia is depressed about what they have discovered and Daniel ends up losing her very early in the book.

Daniel is quite the free spirit she is very intriguing and hilarious. Her one liners were great.
I’ve only been interacting with you for ten minutes, and it’s already making my pussy dry up like an old african watering hole.

I’m a human being not a effing Tickle-Me-Elmo

When Daniel is captured things change very quickly, however she still is quite the mouthy captive. I had several LOL moments. We also meet John, Colt and Seb. They have been assigned to guard Daniel. These three men definitely had their own personalities but were all smoking hot.
And the chemistry between them and Daniel, Wow. There were some very hot scenes.

There is so much more to this great read. The ending was great and I wouldn’t mind seeing more from this group. This is my first read from Eve and she really pulled me right into her world. This story was great, and all of the characters added a great element to the story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I can't and won't write without spoilers so read only if you are ready for that.

Liked the heroine she was quite different, so smart and had a cause. Her attitude towards sex was refreshing as there wasn't the usual guilt the women feel in these situations 'but how can I have feelings to all of them', 'how can I want them' and 'at the same time! No! Ok, maybe I will try'. There never seems to be a middle ground for women they are either sluts or blushing virgins that have to be coerced to feel any pleasure.
The men, what can I say? They have totally different personalities, it's good they already have established dynamic between them so there were not many fights. The interactions between them and her were always interesting and funny.
Anyway it was a good, funny and quick read so I will be on the look out for book 2.
