==================
I had the book in my Kindle library and decided to catch up on my reading list.
I was positively surprised, I don't know if the story is really good or because I've read a lot of bad things lately.
The story has kept me interested and our heroes are people who have suffered and don't want to make mistakes again and decide to take it easy and be friends first.
I liked.

Unable to move, Sara watched in stunned silence as Justin grunted his release. “Oh my God,” Sara managed with a squeaky whisper as Justin turned and shielded Mindy with his body.

He was in love with Mindy? The woman who was a constant source of irritation in their marriage for the past three years. The woman who had broken Justin’s heart when he left for college.

“You stopped trying to be my husband the minute she said she wanted you back. And while you were off falling in love, you shattered every dream I ever had.”

“I just walked in on Justin and Mindy together. They’re in love, and he wants a divorce.”

He could endure a night of pointless conversation to get laid.

His cock immediately agreed with his thoughts, causing his breath to catch. Why did watching this waitress do more for him than the voluptuous date sitting across the table?

“Fuck you. You lost the right to know how I’m doing when you stuck your dick where it didn’t belong. File the damn papers and leave me alone.”

Turning the corner with the biggest smile on his face, Matt’s heart crashed to his knees when he saw Allison standing just inside the doorway, holding a baby carrier covered in a blue blanket.

“I can’t do this, Matt. I can’t watch…something I want so bad…to be ripped away from me again. Don’t call me. Just don’t. Please… I... I can’t.”

It took me two tries to finish this audiobook. This book’s seemingly great bones (infidelity, secrets, angst) were made of smoke and evaporated. Puff! What was left was just a big unsatisfying plate of MEH.

Note to self: do not re-read.

DNF @ 45%

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. Almost halfway through the story and the characters are currently debating whether or not they should officially date. There's some other woman/other man drama as well (the hero's ex-girlfriend and the heroine's soon-to-be ex-husband, respectively). I feel that those characters are distracting from the central plot, rather than adding to it. This book may appeal to readers who love a slow burn romance, but the pacing is just too slow for me.

No star rating since I did not finish.

I received a review copy of this book from the author.

Matt is in lust and thinks only with his dick. The f word is used too often, and without purpose, Matt's friends are crude and unpleasant and there’s no real sense of a developing relationship. I don’t care enough about either character to continue.

The 1st 'cut off' point for me came when one of Matt's friends - on being introduced to Sara, says:

"Holy shit! Sorry, excuse my language. Where are you from, sweetie. You sound like a wet dream."

And ALL Matt does is nudge his friend. And then Matt (you know, the one whose friends make crude comments to a woman they have only just met) meets the pregnant wife of another friend and what does he do???

He sticks out his hand to place it on her baby-bump.

WTF??? I'd have floored the bastard.

I couldn't read on. Matt behaves like a boor. He has NO consideration for Sara and I had little respect for her by this time.

Shudder.

While there was some drama related to cheating and exes, it was all quite mild. This was a very uncomplicated, light read. I would probably read other things from this author.

What a beautifully sweet, romantic love story. Two people with broken hearts find each other and feelings begin to grow. But will their pasts come between them, or can they overcome their pasts and make the future that both of them have dreamed of.

This book has a wonderful storyline that will capture your attention and your heart. Pain, betrayal and heartbreak leads Sara to move away from her home and into the home that belonged to her grandparents. Having to start over is easier when it is a place that holds so many good memories for her. Meeting Matt was unexpected, but not any more unexpected than the pull she felt from the handsome man asking for her phone number so that he could fix her truck.

Matt was startled by the intense feelings that hit him when he laid eyes on Sara as she waited on him and his "date" at Hooters. He really did not like the woman he was with, but she was a means to a release, that is until she ditched him. Her loss I would say.

What I loved most about this book is how Sara and Matt's relationship, though filled with sexual tension, is how they took things slow, really getting to know each other and allowing us to know them as well. Well, after-all Sara still had her divorce pending, but these two did want each other and struck a deal to date as friends, get to know each other until her divorce became final. I loved Matt for his respect for Sara and even though he wanted her more than anything, he gave her what she wanted, until he was what she wanted! Things were going well, until Matt's past walks in and throws a wrench into their new relationship...and here is where I fell in love with Sara...she did not freak out (well she was upset and had her divorce court to attend), but when that was done, she talked to Matt and heart him out, getting his story about what she had seen. She didn't make him chase after her, being the weepy, self-pitting, wimp of a woman that are in many romance books. She had strength and sense. She was great!

I adored this story and the only complaint I have is the ending...I WANTED MORE!!! I highly recommend this book!!

An actual romance story but another terrible leading man

It was very nice to see that this was an actual romance story and not just erotica. It was also nice to see that the hero and the heroine actually liked each other and didn't play games with each other. I do recommend this book. However, Matt is trash. He definitely has a lot of good qualities but when we 1st meet him, he is on a date with a woman who has been pursuing him for several months. He finally gives in and agrees to have dinner with her but his sole intention is to have sex with her and then never speak to her again. He decides to take her to hooter so he can watch a game. She expresses that she would like to go somewhere nicer but he doesn't care because for him it's just about having sex with her and he doesn't feel that she's worth any more effort. He clearly doesn't care what she wants or how she feels. I realize that this woman isn't the heroine but no one deserves to be treated like that And any guy who would treat a woman like that isn't a hero. So right away I didn't like Matt. Later, Sara confesses to Matt that she is going through a divorce and they can only be friends. Matt seems to accept this but the next time he sees her at her job where she is waitressing, he doesn't like the way a customer is looking at her so he goes up to her and basically sexually assaults her to claim her as his own in front of this customer. He then drags her off to the hallway where the restrooms are where she tells him several times again that no, she doesn't want to be more than friends. He doesn't accept this and she has to physically push him away before he relents, but before he finally leaves he tells her that the conversation isn't over. Of course he doesn't think so because to him no doesn't mean no. Yes, it was obvious that she had feelings for him too, but she told him no. Guys need to learn to respect that but Matt doesn't think women deserve respect which his behavior proves. The chemistry between these 2 is built naturally and it really is a nice story if you can overlook what a garbage man Matt is.

Cheating

Hmm I don't really know how to review and rate. I really enjoyed the characters they were in depth and not just a shallow creation. I was extremely surprised that the author took the high road for her characters. I mean I would have gone after him just put of pride and spite. Even if I disliked my marriage and didn't give any care at all to him I would have stuck it to him. I have to say it was admirable. This is where I have an issue she really wants a baby everyone knows it and even the side characters have them but they are like years down the road. I mean what?!? If they are so in love and they have that instant connection and so forth well... At least give the illusion they are going to have them instead of alluding to years. I mean she deserves on within the year especially since they waited until she was divorced. There were some things that were contradictory but otherwise it was a cute story.

Quick HEA read

I enjoyed Sara and Matt's Insta connection. They both had scars from past relationships and unlike many books, they made it a priority to get to know about each other before falling into bed. I would consider this as a light read. The emotional foul from the past isn't as heavy as other books. I would correct calling Sara's twin her "identical" since he is her brother. Over all I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick read with a HEA.

Broken & Beloved

Walking in and seeing your husband and his old girlfriend broke her, but it was really what she needed to go on with her life and find the person that was perfect for her. Loved the book!!

I was hoping for a heartfelt read with angst, but this just fell flat. It was a struggle to finish.
