Nathan Rush is a small town man who has never dreamed of a bigger life.

Until, that is, the only surviving heiress of America's richest family lands on his doorstep. Nathan is the groundskeeper at Hollis House, the Valon family's upstate New York mansion just outside of Harlin Falls, the quiet, sleepy town he was raised in. He's an honest, hard-working man who wants nothing more than a beer and a hockey game on TV at the end of the night. Except, when the ice princess starts to melt, Nathan pictures his future in a way he never has before.

Camille Valon's life has taken place in the spotlight.

Until, that is, her parents are murdered in a mysterious Christmas Day fire. Now all she wants is to flee the prying news cameras and slow-moving investigation. She's an upper crust ice princess who is good at keeping everyone at arm's length. Grief-stricken and still fearing for her life, Camille arrives at her family's safe haven estate with secrets and a chip on her shoulder. What she didn't count on was the kind, ridiculously attractive man who caters to her every need.

As the months go by, and an impending threat grows closer to discovering Camille's location, the line between employer and employee becomes dangerously blurred. Nathan and Camille could be each other's saving graces, if only they'd put aside their visions of a perfect life and take the chance fate has put right in front of them.

Woooowww! This book was so intense. It had EVERYTHING! Romance, sexy times, suspense. MURDER! What a thrilling book to read. Another hit from the amazing Carrie Aarons!

Before I divulge how much I love me some Nathan Rush, and I do love him oh so much, let's talk about Camille. Nothing compares to the pain and guilt she is feeling due to what has happened to her family. I'll be super honest, at first I really didn't like her. I was super put off by her attitude towards everyone, and I know it was just her upbringing, but damn. Slowly she started to change her ways and my opinion of her softened.

Nathan Rush! Omg this man is so sexy and KIND. The companionship and support he gives to Camille is the sweetest thing ever *SWOON* I loved his whole attitude and how much he loved his quaint little town. I'm positive you'll fall in love with him as well. I'm so in love with his and Camille's story, and their ending <3

I can't recommend this book enough, it was different from Carrie's other books and I'm so glad it was incredible to read. If you love that romance mixed with some crazy murder mysteries then this is your jam! Check out On Thin Ice!

I got the ARC of this book from the lovely author herself in exchange for an honest review :) and to be honest, I have some mixed feelings about it... let me try to explain :) I gave this book 3,75 stars, although I had some real trouble when it came to give it a rating... don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Carrie's writing style, and it was still really good in this book as it was in her previous ones... my general problems were about this particular story... or to be more exact, the heroine... but before I get into all my feelings and thoughts about the book, let me tell you a bit more about it in general :)

This is a standalone story of Camille and Nate... she is an only heiress of a very wealthy family, after her parents are murdered... dun dun duuuunnnn... sorry for that music interruption, but the moment needed a dramatic music theme... ;) back to the topic :) now her life is in danger as well, so she decides to hide in one of the mansions her family owns, that not a lot of people know about... it's right next to a very lovely and small town... :) Nathan grew up and lived there his whole life... he is now a groundskeeper at that very mansion, taking place of his father after he passed away... theirs is a very slow-building romance... and I liked that about them very much... anything else would seem... inappropriate... especially since she arrives at that mansion about a week after the tragedy... so romance is definitely not on her mind... especially since the person who hurt her family is after her as well... ok, so that's as much as I can tell you about the premise of the book without some major spoilers, so now let me get into all my feelings about it :)

This review will be definitely shorter than my other ones, but I realized that every time I had some problems with the story and / or characters I tend to write short posts... mainly because I don't like to go on and on about things I disliked about a book... there is no need to prolong things I can express in a few sentences as well... and I prefer to focus on all the good stuff :) so let me start with my problems, so we can finish on a more positive note ;) so my main problem was with Camille... I had troubles connecting to her as a heroine in general... but it wasn't until the second half of the book... especially the ending, when she really frustrated me... because I can't go into details, let's just say, that some of her decisions were simply stupid and naive... I was really angry with how she acted in certain moments... and let's just leave it at that... *sighs* now to some good things :) on the other hand, I absolutely loved Nate :) he was genuinly this nice and good guy... and they do not appear as often in books as you might think... ;) I loved how protective he was of Camille, and how he gave her the time to get better... he was just a very good hero of a story :) I also enjoyed the secondary characters in this book, as well as just the whole theme of this little town... the atmosphere was just... so different and lovely there... every time I read a book set in one of them, I tend to get an urge to move there ;) all in all I enjoyed the majority of this story :) yes, Camille was driving me crazy from time to time, but Carrie's writing style was great as always... :) and just because I didn't like her, it doesn't mean you will fell the same :) so I definitely encourage you to read some other opinions besides mine and then make your own decision about whether you want to try this book out ;)

XOXO

I enjoyed this book but I expected more. Maybe it was the lack of attention to details that got me. Scratch that, it was exactly the lack of attention to details. The storyline, the characters, the romance all were ok, they just needed more work and deffinitly more research into police investigations.
I liked Nate and his small town charm and sincerity. His words about people in small towns being a community and how they care about one another, as opposed to big cities, rang true. Maybe not all small towns are like that but I want to believe that some are.

On Thin Ice had a lot of flaws and it had a lot of really good things too. Maybe for some it balances itself out.

Over and out.

On Thin Ice is a standalone novel. I have read five other novels by Carrie and so far On Thin Ice has been my favorite! I fell in love with the cover the moment I saw it and knew it was going to be a different kind of story. And I was right...I was sucked in from the from beginning until the very end. This is a story about an ice princess in her castle and a man that wanted to melt her heart...

Camille Valon lived the WASP life. She might have been an International figure skater but she lived a sheltered life. At least she had her loving parents to spend her life with. And now they were gone. She was 21 and an orphan. She was alone. The only other person she loved was her Godfather/lawyer and she couldn't even be with him. She had to fly to Chicago after her parents were murdered on Christmas Eve. She had to get away from it and the only place to go was back to a home her parents loved in upstate New York. A secret haven to their family of three. When she arrived to Hollis Home she felt scared, isolated, and hopeless. She missed her parents. She was feeling hopeless over the fact that the investigation was going so slow. And she was scared that the murderer would find her. She was also scared that she would never feel again. She was numb. Ever the ice princess. Then Nathan walked into her life and she started to feel safe.

Nathan was born and raised in Harlin Falls. He loved his small town and the people in it. He also loved his job as the groundskeeper at Hollis Home. He grew up watching his father take care of the home and now it was his duty. The Valon family hasn't been to the property in ten years but now the only heiress was back. He as never met Camille but has his memories of her in the garden when she was a child. She was beautiful then and she is breathtaking now. He could see the pain in her eyes. The hurt in her mind. He wanted to make her feel comfortable in her new home. He also wanted to make her smile. What he didn't expect was to fall for her. Every day they spent together in and around the home, she melted little by little. With every laugh. With every touch. With every kiss. With every moment wrapped in each other's arms. It wasn't his plan. He tried to stay away. He didn't want to take advantage of his broken princess but she didn't see it that way. She saw it as him piecing her back together. But what will happen when reality pops their bubble?

Nathan and Camille have more than love and amazing sex to think about. Their is a murderer that could be getting closer and closer to their target. Her. She had no idea who would want to do this to her family. Her parents were loved by all and she never got close enough to anyone to feel hate or love towards her. Who is the maniac that is coming after her? She has a few of the pieces to the puzzles but not enough to start even the edges. Can they figure out this mystery before it's too late?

I loved Nathan and Camille! Nathan is a sweet, dirty-talking, protective small town man that can make you swoon. And Camille is stronger than she believes, witty, and sexy without knowing it. Together, they are beautiful, hot, and one of a kind. I loved that Camille was discovering herself after 21 years of being sheltered.

Overall...it's a beautiful journey full of discovery, mystery, love, and sexy times. I laughed. Got hot and bothered. And cried. I loved every minute of it!

P.S I love Nathan's mom's name.

Quotes:

I want someone to love me, like an average normal woman needs to be loved.

“Still so proper, babe. I thought I fucked some of the etiquette out of you.”

She’s a man’s fantasy come to life. And she doesn’t even know it.

I'm not going to lie, the cover is what drew me in for this book. This was my first Carrie Aarons book and it didn't disappoint. I was sucked in from page one. I was curious where this book where going to go once I read the blurb. This is a standalone, so you if you're like, you don't need to read the rest in the series prior to starting this one.
Camille and Nathan has to be some of new favorite characters. Their attraction was one that would be considered forbidden. What started out as just wanting to be friends turned into something so much more.
After a tradegy struck Camille's family, she found her safe at Hollis House, a house that was once her favorite until they stopped going when she was younger. Insert Nathan, the head of the staff who has kept the place running. He shouldn't be attracted to her, but oh is he ever.
I loved watching them fall for each other. The passion, the strength and the love they had was perfect. I can't wait to read more by Carrie!

An overall great read. Camille has endured a terrible tragedy. Her parents have been murdered and she must hide, since she's probably next to die. Returning to a family Property in upstate NY, she never imagined she'd face the feelings she does when she's around Nathan, the man in charge of the house. Can Nathan break down the ice princess? Can he help heal her broken life? Can he protect her from the threats that are getting closer to home? Can she trust to love again? Absolutely loved this book. The characters were genuine and the storyline flowed nicely. Some bumps along the way as the reader tries to figure out who killed her parents and is now gunning for her. A great love story that leaves you saying "no,no,no" a few times. Hope you'll enjoy also

4 ICE PRINCESS CROWNS

On Thin Ice is a romantic suspense novel that chronicles Camille's life as she deals with the murder of her family and a threat against her own life. With this book, Carrie Aarons has crafted a story of love and heat laced with the danger and suspense.

The two main characters of the story, Nate and Camille, have a chemistry that will draw readers into the story. The way he cares for her, the way she opens up under his tenure as the house manager, and their interaction inside and outside of the bedroom all lead to an authentic, believable, and enjoyable romance. Nate, however, steals the show for me. He is everything a hero should be. He is kind, caring, understanding, and protective. He tries repeatedly to do the right thing by Camille, often denying his own desires, to help her heal and move on. But more than that, he also broadens her horizons and makes her wish for a different kind of life. Camille becomes a better person and a more likable character as she spends time with Nate. When readers first meet Camille, she is the ice princess, cold and seemingly aloof. However, he behavior is understandable as she is reeling from the a huge loss and the impending threat on her own life. She has lived a very sheltered life, but one of the things I love about her character is how she yearns for more, possibly a different life, and she isn't afraid to take it, thanks to Nate. While she provides him with the chance at love, he heals her, gets her to see their is more to life than how she was living, and provides her with room to grow.

Overall, the plot of this book provides reader with a good blend of romance and suspense. The budding relationship and the impending threat on her life serve to support each other within the story lines. Each revelation regarding the mystery serves as an impetus to their relationship moving forward in some manner. Although I was able to determine who was after her early in the story, it didn't detract from the enjoyment of the plot. They mystery, the how is it being done, and the inevitable encounter between Camille and her attacker are enough to keep readers engaged. Although some readers will be mad at Camille for her response during the falling action of the book, her reaction makes me respect her more as a heroine, and Carrie Aarons, with the resolution to the story, provides readers with their HEA.

Carrie Aarons has quickly becomes a go-to author for me. Her stories are always entertaining, her characters are likable, and her writing is enjoyable, and On Thin Ice is no exception.

First, I'm happy that I got this ARC and couldn't put it down. What a beautiful story.

Camille lost both her parents to a horrendous murder and didn't have any other family members. Enter groundskeeper, swoony, handsome Nathan Rush.

Nathan took his time with Camille being her friend and helping her heal and trying to make her "live" again. Camille experienced with Nathan things she's never experienced before. He opened up her eyes to different things and made her see the world thru different eyes. It was beautiful to see how she was starting to enjoy herself. And it was beautiful to see how she let Nathan show her and how open she was to everything.

Nathan was such a patient gentleman that never rushed Camille into anything. The more I read the more I fell in love with him. And how couldn't I when he said things like this:"I'm not going to just have sex with you, princess. I'm going to make your body sing. I'm going to connect us in a way you've never had with any other man, and I'm going to ruin you for any one else. You're going to feel so high, you'll see stars." Talk about

The first thing that attracted me to this book was that cover. It is amazingly beautiful and had me eager to start. Then I read the blurb and I was hooked. Carrie Aaron is an author I can count on for a great story that will keep me guessing. Her writing is always clean and exciting, her plots unique and her characters well developed.

On Thin Ice was full of suspense with a stellar romance to boot. Nate and Camille have wonderfully chemistry It is clear when you start that this will be different from Carrie's other books. Life some of Carrie's other books this involves a forbidden romance between two different class level. A cold but rich girl and the man hired to take care of the once vacant house she now occupies.

Nate and Camille's journey was full of tender moments, full on angst and some super steamy sex scenes. An easy book to get lost in. Don't let the "frigid" cover fool you, this book will warm you up.

On Thin Ice by Carrie Aarons is a beautifully written romance with a thriller edge to it and a twist I didn't see coming. Carrie has stepped out into a different subgenre here and it's perfection. Nathan & Camille's story is one of trust, respect and protection while falling for each other in the picturesque area of upstate New York. Following their story was a complete pleasure and I couldn't put this story down. Camille & Nathan's connection is undeniable and even as they fight it you know it's destiny. What I loved about this story was it didn't follow the traditional standards of a story and kept me guessing. Carrie is back in top form with On Thin Ice and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next. 5 huge stars for On Thin Ice by Carrie Aarons

OMG the feels...Carrie Aarons always gives me all the feels!!!!
Nathan...I mean who is this HOT, SEXY, DIRTY talker...ohhhh and the sweet, sweet things he says to Camille will have you melting...like when he said this:
"I'm going to kiss you now. the way you should be kissed. Every time I touch you. I'm going to ask permission. Because I want you to enjoy each second of what I do to you. You deserve it." ~Nathan
I mean right????? How does one resist those words...I will tell ya, you don't...lol
I loved this story because it was all about how two people could emotionally connect to each other while both trying to heal. It showed how strong LOVE could be and what two people were willing to go through in order to find their way back to each other. Nathan was a true gentleman every step of the way. The tender way he cared for Camille and how precious he treated her heart really had me loving him from the very beginning.
Camille was a broken, scared, and very sheltered girl. It was going to take a lot to get her to open up fully and for her to open up her heart. She was on a journey to to find herself and sometimes you have to give up something love in order to do that.

I am a fan of Carrie Aaron's books. I think I have read almost all of them. I am a fan of the baseball series. When I saw she had a new book out, I was dying to read it. This is unlike her other books. A little darker and more mysterious.

Camille is a rich and sheltered young socialite who is escaping her life in upstate New York. Her parents were killed in a house fire and she is on someone's radar as their next victim. Without any family or friends to turn to, she hides n a place only few know about in NY. She has fond memories there and feels close to her parents.

Nathan has lived and worked for Camille's parents taking care of their house most of his life. His dad used to do the job before he passed. Nathan knows that he needs to treat Camille as a job and nothing more, but there is so much pain and loss in her eyes, he feels he needs to cross the line as employee and employer just to comfort her.

There is much more than friendship brewing between the two. Feelings and forbidden relationships seem to merge. Natan wants to keep Camille safe no matter what costs, even his heart.

On Thin Ice is a romantic suspense packed with emotion but it still has its light hearted fun moments. Between all that, there was a good balance showing all the pain and healing Camille was working through. She's not only lost her parents but it was in a murder and the killer is now after her. She's fled to a secret property run while this killer is still on the loose. Nathan is the groundskeeper of her secret hideaway and is in instant helpful mode. He is just a down right man's man and is absolutely swoon worthy with how protective of Camille he is. I enjoyed the chemistry between Nathan and Camille and watching her ice princess persona melt away. Nathan really showed her what it was to live and be normal. The mystery and suspense were just the right amount, it kept you constantly on your toes and guessing what would happen next.

'On Thin Ice' is a beautifully written book overflowing with emotions and intense suspense. This is one book from Carrie that you will not be able to put down.

I fell in love with the synopsis and the cover for this book and Carrie did not disappoint one bit.

The characters were very well developed and the story was just gripping which flowed perfectly.

I loved uncovering the mystery and watching Nathan's and Camille's relationship blossom from employer/employee to friendship and finally to love. He helped her to heal, to live again after she found herself drowning in grief from her parents sickening murder.

Overall a truly wonderful book with a swoon worthy hero, a kickass heroine and the perfect HEA.

I sat down to try to type out my review and seriously, my mind is just still so BLOWN by it.

This book was incredible! I loved the characters, the setting, the mystery, the suspense of it all. It was really amazing. The slow build, the anticipation, the unknowing of it all really just drew me in. It was such a refreshing book.

I won't go into details because honestly, this book is one you should read. It was spell binding from page one.

Another solid read from Carrie Aarons. I liked the suspense part of the storyline, since it kept you guessing. The romance between Nate and Camille was a little slow going and then jumped to warp speed, but the last part of the book made up for me questioning if a relationship was really what Camille needed given everything she had been through.

They say there are two sides to every story, and that's the truth, but in point of fact it also can be true that there are two sides to a person - the side you see, and the side they keep hidden deep inside.

This is true of Camille Valon, the Ice Princess, the heir to Hollis House. While she grew up privilaged in the sense she had everything she could ever want, money, possessions, but she lacked so much more. She didn't have privacy, she didn't have friendships, she didn't have the ability to grow and change and become who she wanted to be rather than what others saw her as. She didn't know how to belong in a world outside of that made by her parents and their wealth.

Nathan loves his job at Hollis house, one he'd taken over for his father, he loves the grounds, he loves his fellow employees, and he loves the quaint setting of the place. Nathan doesn't want anything to change his status quo so when the owner of the house, Camille, is coming to stay after a devestating travesty to grieve and also hide out from danger, he doesn't want to cause any friction that will affect his standing. But Camille is not exactly what he expected and he's pulled to her. He sees her pain and her sadness, and he can't help but want to be there for her in some way, even when she shoots him down.

I loved the contrast between Nathan and Camille, how Nathan was the small town boy who was quite content with what little he had, and Camille was the sophisticated, well known, rich girl who wondered what it would be like to have a normal existence and be happy in it. I loved their connection, felt subtlely from the moment they meet and growing through the pages. Nathan wants nothing more than to help Camille, he wants to see her happy, to see her safe, even if it means taking on her anger or standoffish ways.

Their is an air of mystery throughout the whole book, it is a suspense novel of course, but I really liked that there's a lot left up to the reader to ponder. Little glimpses at overheard conversations, details surrounding the tragedy, small elements that build up the questions and bring to life a curiousity to know more and understand what really happened and why.

The budding friendship turned romance between Nathan and Camille was fun to read and gave a little bit of lightness to the sadness and pain Camille felt. It's a delicate balance sometimes between developing a romance while also still manifesting danger and suspense and keeping it all working together and Carrie Aarons does it masterfully. Weaving all of the pieces together into this compelling read that will have you falling in love with it all.

Nathan Rush is the groundskeeper for the Hollis House in upstate New York. He loves his small town of Harlin Falls. He also really enjoys what he does. He is such a hardworking man. The Hollis house has remained vacant until the last remaining Valon arrives. She is the surviving heiress of America's richest family. When Nathan meets the said Heiress he views his future in a whole new light.
Camille Valon isn't a stranger to having her life plastered in the spotlight. She was a famous figure ice skater. She never went a day without the love of her parents. She had everything, until a mysterious fire on Christmas day took her parents. She lost everything, now needing a safe haven she flees the media and the person who committed the crime. Camille has a way of keeping at arm's length which is so hard to do when the groundskeeper is a kind and attractive man.
As months go by and they get close enough where the line between them gets blurred, so does the threat to Camille. These two could help each other out if only they would get over their stubbornness.
This is a standalone romance with a great mystery involved. Carrie Aarons gives you piece by piece of the mystery so you don't figure it out early. It's like she teased me the whole way through the book. I was on the edge of my seat. I ignored everything just so i could finish it and figure it all out. I even wrote down clues and who i thought it would be but my mind was completely blown. Nathan is such an amazing man. He knows that Camille has had it rough but he is determined to get past her walls. He is patient and is more than happy with the way his life is headed. I love how he remembered Camille from when they were younger. Now Camille oh honey, my heart broke for her. Not only was she drugged and dragged outside as her parents burned but she lost the will to do what she loved the most, her ice skating. I just wish she wasn't always having to look over her shoulder. I understand why she does, because let's be honest we all would be. If only Camille and Nathan would look past their needs to fulfill their futures, they could be together. I wish Camille wouldn't be so closed off with Nathan because i know he is exactly what she needs.

This was my Carrie Aarons novel and let me just say i will be reading more from her. She not only is a great author but an even better storyteller. The way she describes everything in detail makes the story play like a novel in my mind. I have which actors would play the characters. I wish this was a movie.

On Thin Ice is a romantic suspenseful read by Carrie Aarons, the mystery of who started a fire on Christmas day and killed America's wealthiest couple The Valon's, the killer left behind their ice princess star of a daughter. The question is why, who and what does the murderer want from her.

Camille Valon has been given everything she has wanted, she may be a famous figure skater but she has a tendency of keeping people at arms length. She has always felt the love of her parents but questioned some of the things that they have done, such as keeping her away from their mansion in Harlin Falls. She now finds herself sent to the mansion that her parents portrayed as a safe haven, their favorite place that held memories. Camille must wait out the investigation to keep her safe in a place that no one knows about. Will she find answers to why her parents were murdered before the killer finds her?

Nathan Rush is the groundskeeper to Hollis House where Camille is sent for her protection. He grew up around the mansion and knows everything about it. After his father passed away he took on the responsibilities as groundskeeper and manager of the estate and he loves what he does, he also loves the small town of Harlin Falls. It's a small town so Nathan has dated his share of the woman, he just never expected to fall for the ice princess. He remembers her as a young girl playing in the garden but the beautiful woman in front of him maybe more than he expected. After learning of her parents murders, will he be the man she needs to protect her from the person who is out to kill her?

I loved the mystery of this story, it kept me on edge. Nathan and Camille's friendship deepened into a passionate love that leads them to wanting to protect one another. It is impossible to not fall in love with Nathan, his sweet, caring, hard working ways will warm your heart. On Thin Ice is everything I expect from Carrie Aarons and I look forward to her next book. This is 5 star read!

This is so much more than a romance, if anything I found it more of a thriller with a romantic jacket on!
The premeditated death of Camille Valon’s parents has never fully been explained and while she continues to live her life as best she can she can’t help but ponder over the details of more than just that fateful Christmas day
Camille may be famous in her own right, her success on the ice as a figure skater consumes her and gives other the impression that she is perhaps a little stand-offish but that is just the way she likes to deal with things.
So considering that her parents always described their home in Harlin Falls with an almost sense of reverie it was odd to discover that it is somewhere she has never visited …but why?
While she is waiting for the authorities to investigate exactly what happened in the fire, it is imperative that she stays out of harm’s way, so Harlin Falls is as good a place as any!
Nathan works in Harlin Falls at Hollis House, where Camille is laying low so to speak. His work as groundskeeper and estate manager keeps him busy but it is in his blood, his father before him looked after the house and between the pair of them they have groomed the place to absolute perfection. Nathan remembers Camille from when she was a very small child but when he discovers why she is back, his protective instinct kicks in and I wanted him to be the man to put his arms around her and keep her safe, because danger could very well be just around the corner!
Is the killer of her folks out there and heading her direction?
Just how safe is she?
The mystery of it all kept me glued to each and every page, it was edge of the seat stuff! I loved Camille and Nathan, the fact that they found a friendship that they both allowed to blossom into so much more. Camille couldn’t have picked a better guy to have by her side.
Superbly written this was just what I needed, it more than I anticipated and the author pulled out all the stops, this was a definite keeper…easily straight onto my must read again soon list!
