The Betrayed #2

Surviving Colton

Rate this book
She waited for that one moment. The moment he finally looked at her. The moment he finally spoke to her. Colton James knew when it happened nothing would be the same.

She was innocent, sweet, and caring. Everything he wasn't. She didn't judge him for the choices he made no matter how bad they were. She doesn't know who he really is because of her sheltered life.

She makes him want to change, but it's time for Colton to get back to real life. Being the drummer for the famous rock band The Betrayed comes with Temptation. Colton gave in once and he spiraled out of control.

Will he give in again or can the good girl make the bad boy change his ways?

This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order.

This is the first chance I have had to read a book by this author and all though it can be read as a standalone, it is recommended that you read book 1, as there are characters from Saving Dawson that are part of Colton's story. I did enjoy the premise of the story, it did give me the feels. Who doesn't like a bad boy rock star? What happens when said bad boy meets the preachers daughter? Surviving Colton is a quick, sweet, sexy, coming of age read. Colton will have you swooning as he romances Dixon and Dixon will have you reaching for the box of kleenex.

At the age of thirteen Colton James' entire world fell apart. He never imagined his young life taking a turn like it did. Now living with a foster family, Sarah and Grady, have become his new parents. What he wants more than anything is to be a rock star. Fast forward ten years later and Colton is living the dream, sex, drugs, alcohol, lots of drugs and rock & roll. As Colton hits rock bottom the rest of the band delivers him with an ultimatum, get clean or kiss the band goodbye. I really did like Colton's bad boy, rock star character. He is broken, still reeling from the death of his mother years ago. Now forced to clean up his life, he finds himself learning to deal with all the heartache from his past.

Enter Dixon, the breath of fresh air that Colton so desperately needs. She comes back to see him, day after day after day, until he finally speaks to her. And when she finally gets a look at him, she feels as if her heart has exploded. Dixon has led a fairly sheltered life. She has her own demons to deal with, yet she finds the time to give back to those less fortunate than herself. I really liked Dixon's character, She is strong, selfless, loving, considerate and giving. She has her own issues to deal with and when they rear their ugly head, she isn't quite as prepared as she should be.

Surviving Colton is about first loves, second chances, growing up and finding who are and where your place is at in this world. Like I previously stated, I really did enjoy this dual pov story, I just felt parts of it were not executed as well as they could be. I am a sucker for multiple pov stories and this one delivers. I just felt that areas that started off romantic and sweet had added harshness that was not necessary. The limited amount of sex scenes was not a concern for me, but the way they were written needed work. I was left with questions about another character and found that things just didn't add up when it came to her. All in all, Surviving Colton is an enjoyable, quick read, that I would recommend, you may just need a box of kleenex though.

I have been following Colbie's work since her first book and I must say that her work just keep getting better and better and I have to say that it astounds me because I have absolutely LOVED every book of hers that I have gotten my hands on. This series though...these boys are stealing my heart with each one. The pain that they have experienced breaks me but they manage to put all those pieces together again and put a smile on my face. In this one Colbie has given us a story about some sensitive topics in the sense that we've either experienced them ourselves or someone close to us has. My heart broke for these characters. In order for them to find their happy ending they must learn to find strength even when scared, learn to find forgiveness and learn to open themselves up to love.

Colton will steal your heart during this book. There was a point in this book that I wanted to throttle him but with his past and everything else your heart will just break for him and you'll just want to grab him and help him. Dixon is someone you can't help but to love. She has such a kind, caring, sweet soul that she is just perfect for Colton. They are complete opposites in a way but deep down there is a lot of the same traits in Colton he just didn't realize they were buried deep inside of him.

Anyways, this book will have you from the very beginning. I could NOT put this book down. I literally devoured the book in a matter of just a few hours. Its been a while since I have flew through a book so fast but I was so captivated by their story! I highly, highly recommend this book. You don't have to read the other book in the series to enjoy this book but that was also such a great read and you might feel more invested with the characters if you did.

The moment I started reading Surviving Colton, Colbie Kay had me crying. It hit me hard in the chest. I had moments where I didn't know what emotion I was going to have next. I laughed and cried with a little bit of cursing going on. The roller coaster journey that Colbie Kay has taken me on in this read is so amazing. I enjoyed all of this book, from the playlist to the epilogue. There is nothing more exciting to me than a read that sucks you in and takes hold of the heart and makes you feel like you want to love each character of the story. Surviving Colton is one of those reads that does just that and let me tell you this has to be the best work of art that Colbie Kay has put together. There are moments where you want to crawl inside the book with the characters and give them a talking and then again you want them to have that time of heat to themselves. Between the conversations of Colton and Dixon to the heat that is on the pages get ready to enjoy words that are sure to help you survive Colton. He is one that you will want to survive or at the least have one of your own. Surviving Colton is a must read and Colbie Kay is a one click author.

Another terrific story!

This was a tragic, epic love story about the bad boy and good girl from completely different world's. No one, including themselves, thought that they would ever have a chance, but does fate have a different plan for them? You'll have to read this to find out!
I'm really hoping that the rest of the band will get their stories very soon! Especially with the slight cliffhanger about one of the other characters at the end of this book!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and great author.

I liked this book!

I enjoyed this book because they both had their ups and downs but they got through it and then they got their happily ever after. The only thing that I didn't like about this book is that Colton didn't talk about his mom after she died because if he did I don't think that he would have turned to drugs to get through his day. Dixon was definitely good for Colton.

Colbie Kay has delivered again. Surviving Colton the rock star who has some deep rooted issues he doesn't want to open up and share with anyone. But they are affecting his work and his life in general. Everyone is starting to see a change in him and not for the good. When Colton has to go away and get help for his troubles ( I will let you read to see what exactly don't want to give too much away) he meets someone who somehow manages to get to him just by being near him. She honestly doesn't say a word to him for weeks and it really bothers him. So when she doesn't show up one day he is really heartbroken but he won't let anyone know that because hey he is Colton he doesn't show feelings to anyone. Then enters Dixon this amazing girl who just grabs a hold of Colton's heart and won't let go. Except Dixon is hiding something and well Colton has to know what that is. Can Dixon and Colton both figure out how to open up to each other before time runs out? Or will they forever be just looking back and saying what if? Can't wait for the next book in this series. Great job Colbie Kay.

Wow.. this book has left me speechless. Colbie once again gives you a book that will not only tear you apart but put you back together. The men in the Betrayed Series will steal your heart and not let it go.

Colbie will have you sucked in from the prologue. I know I was. Colton will make you hate him and want to shake the crap out of him or deck him but before you know it that guy will take your heart and not give it back. Dixon is just an all around loving, caring, kind person that you honestly cannot help but like from the very first time you meet her.

She knows there is something between her and Colton. And Colton he can tell shes special and innocent compared to him so he tries to fight what hes feeling inside and push her away.

This book will shock your system, break your heart, and make you fall in love all over again. This is part of the series but you do not need to read the previous book to understand this one. Definite must read!!

Five flipping big stars!........as I still struggle to get my emotions in check! Although to be honest, I don't want to.......I have full embraced those emotions for the last few days!
My emotions and my heart were invested before I turned the first page....I knew from reading Saving Dawson, that Colton's story would not be an easy one to read..........and damn I was right! Then throw Dixie into the mix and I am an emotional wreck!
I highly recommend that you read this.........and Saving Dawson too........heck!.....everything by this author!

This was the first book I read by Colbie Kay and I loved it! I am going to have to read the rest of her books now. This book made me cry and laugh! It was such a heartbreaking read that I couldn't put down! She literally had me hooked from just reading the prologue which is hard. There were a few times while reading it I want to just shake the character and be like come on. Other than that I would totally recommend this book to all!!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really did not see the twist coming....I mean, really, a Reverend's daughter was already a twist for a rockstar drug addicted drummer to meet and befriend. But there's more......

I kind of wished he could of refrained from the F word a little more. It seems crass when she did not at all. Dixon was the best!!!

Arc given for an honest review.

Another great book from Colbie Kay.

Colton is a Rockstar who after losing his mother was sent to live with Grady and Sarah.

Dixon has lived a sheltered life. A preachers daughter.

This book has everything in it. Emotionally packed. Another great read from the wonderful Colbie Kay.

Just when I thought she couldn't top Dawson she throws Colton at me!!! The Betrayed Series is definitely on my top list of favorite rock reads. When she introduces a new charcter you cannot help but love them. Colton is and was a bad ass. Dixon came into his life and she changed him for the better. By the way did I mention that I love this series!

I stopped reading it after I seen one of my favorite movie quotes in the book, not quoted or anything and for some reason, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

really really enjoyed Colton's book and it didn't move as fast as Dawson's but it would have been even better if it was a little slower paced
