On Annie Wilcox's sixteenth birthday everyone in her world stops moving. The earth is still turning, but everyone has gone still, leaving Annie to wander through thousands of petrified people trying to decide whether this is the most fantastic or the most depressing thing ever to happen to her. As she travels outside of her town and her comfort zone, she'll learn more about herself than she ever imagined possible, including her integral and dangerous role in this supernatural occurrence.
The Halting by Lauren M. Flauding is a great story to read. I can not wait to see what this great author will write about next. I recommend this great story to everyone who likes reading about fantasy and sweet romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A girl wakes up on her 16th birthday to find that every living thing she can see is in suspended animation. She is later rounded up with a very few other non-suspended humans and taken to a distant area, where the group awaits communication from other non-suspended groups. She is appalled to find out that to reverse the phenomenon, the youngest immune human will need to be sacrificed! Guess who that is! This little book wasn't bad. One sentence was repeated in error, and the word "nauseous" was misused several times, but many readers don't know the difference between "nauseous" and "nauseated" anyway. The story ended well, which made me glad. I hate dismal endings.
The Halting is an interesting story about a young girl stuck in a crazy world where everyone has stopped moving but her. At first I wasn't sure if I would like this book but as I was reading it the story drew me in. The ending was good and I am glad I took a chance on this one. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This started out so promising!! Great premise and relatable MC but then about two thirds way in it's like they just wanted the book to be done. It became predictable and rushed and I found the ending disappointing.
Good for a quick read. It was an interesting storyline, and I liked the characters. If your looking for an interesting book to pass the time, I’d recommend this one.
