WORDLESS: This is a stand alone story told through Shiloh and Pierce's alternate POV'S

Being that this book is loosely inspired by Han Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid (NOT the Disney version), taking place in the modern and human world I did start to question my sanity, but when I've not seen or read 'The little Mermaid' (shocking I know) I'm probably having a different reading experience than others. I think this author could write Peter Pan and I'd read it!!

By no means is this story a fairy tale all wrapped up in a big pretty bow so don't be fooled into thinking that, that's what you'll be getting, it's slightly dark, gritty enough to keep you interested, and has hope rushing through your veins craving that it ends in a HEA like all all fairy tales do.

Once Upon A Time: Shiloh Blackard, and her siblings have been hidden from the public eye for many many years, no one knows that they even exist, confined within the walls of their home invisible to the outside world, by a father who will go to any lengths to protect them. Each daughter is released on their 21st birthday to experience freedom for one night, and one night only. The next morning when they return that freedom is taken off them until they are to be married off one by one to their father's most trusted men on the estate.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Every man has his secrets. Especially the most powerful and dangerous of them. My father is one of them, and I am one of his secrets.

All Shiloh wants is her freedom, but at what price will that cost her?

When Shiloh's 21st finally comes around and she's free for the first time ever, she never expected to help a man escape with his life, with the words uttered from his lips that he will give her anything she wants.

Pierce Gallo, they dub him the Prince of the East Coast, a dangerous, powerful man like her father.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic The Gallos and the Blackards do not get along. They are air and water. East and West. Fire and Ice.

At what price did her one night of freedom cost her? Lured by a handsome powerful stranger to save him from men sent to kill him.

What's more important her freedom or her silence?

Like a beautiful butterfly all Shiloh has ever dreamed about is being free.

This book took me by surprise, I wasn't really expecting to like it if I'm being honest, when asked ohhhhh what are you reading and explaining something loosely connected to the little Mermaid even they questioned wtf was I jabbering on about, pretty sure they had the therapy number all written out for me. This just ticked all my boxes of why this author is fast becoming a fan of mine. I didn't even look at the cover, read the synopsis but one look at who the author was and I was signing my ass up for this and I am so glad I took that leap of faith.

I've read a few of this authors books and loved them so of course I was going to read her new book & I'm so glad I did.
This is a contemporary romance inspired by Hans Andersens fairy tale The Little Mermaid (not the Disney version), taking place in the modern and human world.

Shiloh is a secret locked away by her father. On her 21st birthday she's allowed one night of freedom. This night changes everything and of course one night is not enough as she needs more freedom. She believes Pierce is her key to freedom.

This is a well written gritty story that I couldn't put down. I loved every word of it and look forward to reading more from this author.

This may be loosely based on the NON-Disney Little Mermaid BUT regardless of similarities to Disney or Han Anderson I was hooked from the start and devoured the book !! I initially signed on because I love when authors take those Fairytales and do them over with a modern world twist and I challenge myself to read 2 new authors a month !! BUT the cover was stunning and the tagline too so it was a no brainer. It was the perfect length story and the flow was so easy. Ironically this is the 2nd story I read this month with someone who was mute as a main character and although I feel for Shiloh I was also amazed at how well I could connect and feel her due to her being mute. Her thoughts and actions were so expressive and strong. I would love to see this played out on TV. There is nothing sweet and pretty about the story of Pierce and Shiloh BUT there may be a light at the end of their tunnel.

Shiloh has grown up hidden from the world along with her sisters. Their powerful father keeps them locked away in their gated home only letting them out on a particular birthday and then again once he marries them off. Of course Shiloh is the rebel so she takes her 1 night of freedom and turns it into a war of families that reveals many secrets and unites unlikely characters. She goes out and has her innocent fun but when that ends in a life or death choice she chooses to save a man that may bring her more trouble than what she is trying to escape from. Finding him again seems easy enough but what will be at stake fro Shiloh when she takes that step ?? Pierce is in Vegas to celebrate his birthday and he is not from a West coast family so things turn chaotic real fast. Once he is able to head back East he finds himself with an unlikely travel companion that has him so intrigued he too is risking so much to keep her around and attempt to find out her secrets. The sexual tension is crazy , the interactions are intense , the warnings , the tone and of course the danger makes Shiloh and Pierce steaming hot to read !! Hang on tight because the ocean is rough and this couple needs all the help they can get to figure out just what is going on.

Shiloh has been raised as a secret, locked behind high walls, and armed guards. Her father is a powerful crime lord, and she is his only weakness, so the world has no idea she exists. But Shiloh wants to be free so badly, and when her twenty first birthday comes around, it's her turn to have one night out in the world. Instead of having fun, she ends up in the middle of a gun fight, and rescues the most beautiful man she's ever seen, but when it's time for her to go home, she has to leave him behind. As she struggles being back behind her gilded cage, she decides that Pierce is the man to give her freedom, so she escapes home to find him. But things aren't so great out there either, she can't tell him who she really is, but he's decided to use her as a pawn anyway, in the search for the woman who saved his life. When he finds out who she really is, will he keep her safe, or sacrifice her for revenge?

Wordless is a fantastic story that had my heart pounding cover to cover, and it was hard to catch my breath. I LOVED the modern twist on The Little Mermaid, and I couldn't get enough! The character development is fantastic, with a colorful cast of secondaries. The simmering chemistry almost choked me, and it finally boiled over into SIZZLING sexy scene goodness that almost short circuited my kindle. Alyne Roberts' brilliant writing style had me on the edge of my seat the entire story, and OMG, I wanted to beg for more after the last page. I'm a huge fan of suspenseful stories, and hers had an original dark twist to it all, and I'm addicted. Her diabolical twists and turns had me screaming f-bombs like a lunatic, as I never saw most of them coming. So, in conclusion, I'm a new fan girl who cannot wait to read more by her, and I'm HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Wordless to ALL!

I was kind of back and forth with 2 and 3 stars for this one. The story had good bones and there was some exciting moments, but I felt the writing was amateurish or unrealistic, and this took me out of the story at times. I wanted to be invested in these characters and I wasn't that much. I really wish the little mermaid parts just weren't in it, and I would have loved the story way more. There were some writing issues, for example, they frequently mention that Shiloh has 5 sisters (we get a little bit of info on only two of them) and she is the youngest at 21 years old. However, only one of her older sisters is married. With a dad that apparently likes to marry them off to form alliances, this didn't match up for me.

Moreover, they make a big deal of Pierce looking for the girl who saved his life and finding the wrong girl, because it's Shiloh who saved him. BUT, the "wrong" girl also helped save his life, so please make that make sense. Another thing that annoyed me was Shiloh's sacrificial plan in the end, that solved nothing and just made things worse. Pierce's attempt to rescue Shiloh almost kills her, so that was tragically funny. So ya, there were a few things that made no sense or needed more thought. It could have been better with some changes.

A weird chaotic retelling of Little Mermaid.
I feel like it would work for some.
But I struggled with the predictable plot and the forced serendipity.

It's VERY loosely based on The Little Mermaid... in the sense that the main character is drawn to the ocean, and loses her voice. This book is not a fairy tale. It's not a story of a pretty romance, all wrapped up in a little bow. This book is gritty. It's a little dark, it's about fifty shades of weird and even just trying to lay out the plot to my best friend the other night made the story sound really creepy and very 'fifty shades'...

But take my word for it, it's not even close to Fifty Shades. It's better than that... and way more developed! Shiloh is pretty much a nobody in her own home, an invisible child whom no one seems to care about. All she wants is to live her life, and to be someone other than who she is. She desires freedom. On her 21st birthday, she's granted that freedom, but only for a few hours. And after it was dangled in her face... she had to have more. While out of the house, she got tangled up with a man, one she knew was her father's enemy from the get go...

Pierce is not to be toyed with, he's the worst of the worst... a player, a boss, and a scoundrel. He's a bad-ass who even though he knew he shouldn't, he rescues and takes Shiloh into his home, under his care... and things get intensely confusing from there...

This is a story about love, about freedom to be who you are, and about trusting people who show you they can be trusted, instead of the ones who just say 'trust me'. This story is a dark, twisted, tale of a runaway.... where she finds herself living in a world where she's not sure she wants to be found again. This book was so strange, but in a good way. Definitely worth a read in my opinion. Some sexual content violence involved.

This was my first book by the author, so in that aspect I didn't know what to expect - but I really enjoyed her style of writing. As you go back and forth between Shiloh's chapters and Pierce's chapters, there is some overlapping, but just enough to make sure you see all sides of what was happening... I also found myself highlighting long paragraphs in this book.

I wanna share a couple of passages... they won't spoil anything, I promise.

"Everyone thinks I am naive and clueless. No one notices me, and they all think I don't know the kind of person my own father is."

"Shiloh is wordless but not to me. I feel every word."

"I am protected and strong. No longer invisible and overlooked. Never silent and unheard. I may have saved his life once, but he saves mine every single day."

I give Wordless 5 stars for keeping me interested and intrigued throughout. Alyne Roberts has brought us a passionate story about powerful families on both the east and west coasts and what one is willing to sacrifice for freedom.

A great story about a long standing vendetta, a young impressionable girl, and a chance to be free. Shiloh Blackard wants her freedom and is willing to give up her family for it. Did she think she'd have to give up her voice also? What would it take to truly be free?

Wordless is a standalone novel that makes you root for love. From a secret to a pawn, follow Shiloh and her journey from one coast to another. Should one's fate be decided by a controlling parent? Should one be entitled to make their own decisions? Shiloh always wanted her freedom and after meeting Pierce one fateful night, she escapes to live what she hopes will be a normal life.

Although they met under abnormal circumstances, you can't help but root for Shiloh and Pierce. Will they survive? Is it true love? Wordless will peek your curiosity and you will stay riveted as the story unfolds. While you follow Shiloh and Pierce through the maze that is their lives you will come across secrets and lies, darkness and light, but most of all....love.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. As I went from page to page, I wondered what was coming next. I smiled, I cried, but most of all I kept hoping for Pierce to discover Shiloh's secret.

ARC exchanged for an honest review.
5 well deserved stars!!

This is the story of Shiloh, a twenty-one year old who has been kept behind the walls of her father's mansion with her sisters all her life, until her twenty-first birthday where each sister is allowed out for the night only. She's different to her sisters though, one night just isn't enough. She meets Pierce, the bad boy business tycoon and feels an instant attraction. Little does she know, their fathers are enemies.

It's written in the POV of both hero and heroine and I really liked this. I've never read anything from this author before and I was pleasantly rewarded with a well written, well executed book. Be prepared for the gritty drama in between the developing love story.

As said in the blurb, it's loosely based on the original tale of the little mermaid and you can see that as you go through it (the attraction to the ocean, losing her voice, her need not to be caged up and be outside where she belongs etc) but the story is not a fairytale. I really loved the concept and the way the characters developed. I love a strong heroine, but Alpha males win me over. This story has both.

Pierce is as Alpha as they come and I loved him. I couldn't put it down, it had me gripped from the beginning and I was hoping for a happy ever after for Shiloh. I don't want to say anymore in the fear of ruining the story, so I'll finish by saying I'm SO happy I signed up for this ARC.

I've never seen or read any other version of The Little Mermaid, Disney-style. I can see how it would loosely follow the storyline. Mostly I see it in the girl saves guy, guy wants to find said girl-savor, girl finds guy, but clueless guy doesn't see it until it’s nearly too late then add in the overbearing daddy. Of course than you add in the heroine not having a voice… ok, well, I guess it does follow it a bit more than I had originally thought!

I enjoyed this book a lot, maybe because The Little Mermaid if my all time favorite Disney movie. I’m hoping we get at least one more book out of these characters. I loved Shiloh’s sister Poppy. I think her and Hans would make a great couple!! I also think Amethyst could be a very interesting story!

This is my first book by Alyne Roberts and I was delighted to see that she stuck with dual POV. It’s my favorite way to read a romance book since we can go into both of their heads. While this does end with a HEA, I don’t think it’s the perfect one I was expecting but I am very happy with the ending. It gave it more of a real feel to it since life isn’t perfect and not everything turns out hunky dory.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I loved this one. I read that it was Inspired by Han Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid so I was expecting something fully based on that story but it's not. I was kind of expecting a mermaid story and its not. It took me a little bit to get the feel for the story but then I was hooked and didn't want to put it down.

Shiloh is a crime boss's daughter. Her and her sister have been kept sheltered and no many people know they exist. On her 21st birthday she is given freedom for one day. Shiloh is strong, brave, and a little bit of a rebel. Of course she stumbles upon trouble on her one night of freedom. Pierce is also from a crime family but his family doesn't get along with Shiloh's family. Pierce is not a guy to be messed with. He's a super hot and loyal guy. I won't give away much but when their paths cross and there will be secrets, sacrifice, and romance.

Wordless was an interesting take on a classic fairytale. Deceit, danger, passion, and betrayal are all found between the pages and have a way of pulling you in.
While some aspects were a bit unrealistic, you have to just suspend reality and allow yourself to get caught up in the story, and I did get caught up. There were several times when things were intense and emotional. My chest got tight and I could feel the heartache. Interesting characters, a unique storyline, and an easy flow had me racing through the book to see what was going to happen next!
I'm eager to see if Roberts does more of these fairytale adaptations. I would definitely be interested in reading more.

I liked the storyline, but the random words that would be explained, put a break on the storys flow. Another thing that would stop the rhythm of the story was the missing words from some sentences, thing written twice and once (that I noticed) two sentences did not make sense together. The last thing I was a bit bummed about was the fact that I couldn't feel a connection between the characters, other then that they lusted after each other, there was no buildup leading to how they fell in love.
However with all that negativity aside, the story was okey, it wasn't anything that hadn't been written yet, but enjoyable.
