This is one amassing book not only for travelers, but for people who want to find themselves. I change whole my life challenging myself and I will continue doing this :)
I often think about how we’re no longer easily amazed. Our senses are constantly being bombarded by stimuli and what would have seemed astounding just 10 years ago, is now a regular part of any Facebook feed. So, what I enjoyed most about “203 Travel Challenges” is that it encourages you to go out and create excitement, not just witness it. See the rest of my review and some quotes from the book at: http://contrabond.com/break-routine-2...
Great pocket read on the go. Even if you just open it randomly when travelling, it is as great a from page to page read with many ideas and cute challenges for BUlgaria and around the world. The Bulgarian version is better tho!
Feeling unmotivated, uninspired, stuck in a repetitive daily routine? It’s okay, happens to the best of us! Everyone needs a new challenge from time to time to get their positive energy back on track, be it a concrete goal, a big dream or… a long-coveted travel destination!
This is exactly what Maria Angelova and Ivalina Nenova’s project 203 Travel Challenges is there for. The book inspires you to change the way you travel, to go out of your comfort zone and to regularly make time to enjoy the small things in life. The challenges are suitable for experienced travellers as well as newbies and there’s a special section for couples who’d like to adventure together. In a nutshell, the message is one of progressive change: “Do at least one thing you have never done before in your life – and you won’t be able to stop.“
The travel ideas in the book can be ambitious and demanding (“How to walk over hot coals”), classically romantic (“Go up in a balloon”) or just straight-up clever and eye-opening (“Visit a temple of a religion other than yours”).
Personally, I’ve always got new travel plans to get excited about, but I liked many of the fresh ideas in the book and I think undertaking a travel challenge can be a powerful source of external motivation. As a designer, I just couldn’t help falling in love with the wonderful illustrations in Irina Peneva’s charming minimal style. I just wish there were more of them throughout the book!
On the negative side, I feel like the English in 203 Travel Challenges was not always perfect and it could have benefited from some more rigorous editing. Some of the challenges tend to get a bit repetitive if you’re reading the book from cover to cover, but hey, just open it at a random page and you’ve got something new to try!
Overall, 203 Travel Challenges was a fun read and it has a great potential as a gift for a loved one‘s birthday or for that great friend of yours who’s been unusually grumpy lately. It’s available as a paperback and in a Kindle edition from Amazon and it’s been launched alongside a travel website to complement the book.
A great pocket book for travelers. Although, it isn't supposed to be read as normal books, I did it this way as I was very curious of all the challenges inside. I got tons of ideas already while reading! Next to each challenge you can put a tick if/when you have done it, although there are many variations for each challenge, so I am not sure it one of them counts - I want to try more! Very easy to read and share with your friends.
За да не бъде пътуването ти просто отиване до място, което вече си виждал на снимки в Интернет, тази книжка предоставя разнообразни идеи за незабравими преживявания. Включва увлекателни истории, любопитни факти и предизвикателства с различна степен на трудност.
What a delightful and thought provoking book! I’ve been on a quest to see new things, get out of my comfort zone, flaneur around cities and towns, and this little gem is the perfect companion for thinking outside of the box!
