Bound by an Echo

Rate this book
Twenty years wasn’t long enough.
Laurel escaped her past and the horror that threatened to plague her future. She was happy with her dream job, fame and friends but she knew a piece of her was missing; that piece was Rory and he came with a binding echo. Twenty years ago, Laurel was forced to leave the only person that cared for her; protected her.

Rory never did leave; he stayed exactly where she could find him. He waited knowing that the girl that got away would return… eventually. What he didn’t expect was for her to walk through the door of his bar, days before an echo of their past was to boom through the mountains and mirror the moment that tore them apart.

The day Laurel left was the last day laughter was heard in Crater City.
It was also the last day The Crater City Carnival had ever opened.
Now, twenty years later, the carnival will reopen for one week only, bringing two lost loves back together and a mystery they both tried to forget will be brought back to life.
Will Rory and Laurel survive... again?

Wow! That prologue just wow! Nothing else to be said. I was astonished after reading it & cannot wait to dive into the novel. I was hooked right from page one till the end & could not put the book down. Characters are intriguing & keep you engaged. The premise of the novel will pique you & the plot twist will leave you bewildered. I love the astonishing twist that are totally unpredictable. What you get is betrayal, secret's, lies, denial, & desire all wrapped up in a perfectly flowing story. I just want more of these two & wish their story continued. I highly recommend reading this second chance / romantic suspense novel as it's fabulous. An absolute must read.

This book is almost a cross between a horror and a romance book, but after the first bit it soundly lands in romance. Julia Clare and Virginia Johnson are a great writing duo and always come up with an exciting plot and plenty of steamy action. Rory and Dale are the new next Julian and Jasper, so I'm already gearing up my hash tag arsenal of photos for the upcoming meme wars. Obviously #Rory will win, but #Dale isn't all that bad either. I can't wait to see what Clare and Johnson come up next when they put their twisted, warped, beautiful minds together.

I have read previous books by these two wonderful authors and was expecting great things from this book. While this book is a completely different genre then what I am use to reading from the authors it was a great read and i was not disappointed. This book contains plenty of action and suspense add a little hot and steamy romance and you have a great book and a one click must.

Awww, a tale that touched my heart. It was filled with twists and turns, full of surprises. Rory, Dale and Laurel are a fascinating cast of characters. I was sad when I flipped to the last page on my Kindle, I definitely wanted more, such a good story. Author Johnson and Clare are a great writing team. I look forward to one-clicking more books created by them, either written together or solo.

A quick read with some gore and suspense. It was predictable and I figured out the plot before the twist was revealed. Laurel returns to Crater City after the announcement of the 20 year anniversary reopening of the carnival where there was the biggest accident as the rides fell apart with people still on it. She finds Rory again and realizes their live for one another never faded after 20 years. Pretty good fast paced read.

Betrayal, lies, secrets, love, suspense, denial, desire, FIRE!!!! This book has it all. It started off great, fast paced, and intriguing and it kept getting better. I loved the twists as they were shocking and unpredictable. And they definitely left the story open for a possible book two woohooo. I am new to both of these authors and am very impressed.

Firstly...the prologue in this book is perfection! With scenes so well written, you can't help but 'see' the graphic images described.
There is also a tale of lust, love, betrayal, revenge and sacrifice. The characters are perfectly flawed and the storyline, full of twists.

Bound by an Echo pulled me in right from the start. The devastation, carnage and mystery of what happened at the carnival had me excited to see where this story would take me. I was all in and loving it until about 3/4 of the way in, when I realized what started off with so much promise wasn't going in the mysterious other direction that I'd thought. The writing and story became pretty mundane and I lost interest. I will, however, check out other works by these authors because there was some promise to the story.

This is my first read by either of these authors and from the blurb I was looking forward to reading it - I always like a second chance romance.

I have to admit, it took me a long time to get into it as the editing throughout was off; it kept flitting from first to third person and past to present, and it made it really confusing causing me to have to re-read.

Putting that aside, the story basis was good; but it wasn't until 3/4 or so into it that it really pulled me in, and then I was hooked.

We get a bit of background of Laurel and Rory at the beginning, and the carnival tragedy in their small town that ripped them apart 20 years before. I could tell they were made for each other even back then and hoped they would find each other again. When they did, I couldn't fully sense the attraction between them - until they had sex, which was pretty hot!

And then tragedy strikes again threatening to pull them apart once and for all. This is when I really started rooting for them and had a few gasps along the way as there were quite a few twists and turns I hadn't figured out. The ending was a bit of a shocker too, and I *would* like to read more on it.

With some editing I think this could be a great book - 3.5*.

Well This book starts out like a final destination movie! And about what I expect from fair rides. lol Ok where do I start with this book! It was Fantastic! Of course we have 2 hot guys to choose from Rory and Dale. I got bad vibes about Dale the moment I read his name. So of course my team is #TeamRory.
Laurel grew up in Crater City, Her and Rory we're best friends. Laurel's dad is a alcoholic and beats her and her mom daily. When the Fair finally gets there Rory takes Laurel to the fair. It's the best day for both of them, When suddenly all hell breaks loose. Rory has a choice to make save his mom or save Laurel. Rory makes the choice to save Laurel. Laurel and her mom leave the town after the incident, which also got her dad killed. 20 years later someone thought it would be a great idea to open it back up. Laurel hears about this and hops on a plane to see why someone would open it back up after such a tragic past. On the way her car breaks down, And Dale happens to be going by, so he gives her a ride into town. Ok let me stop before I spoil the whole book. So all in all this is a Horror movie/ Love story. In the best possible way. Love the Model on the cover Spencer is a perfect Rory. I really love these two authors writing together. It's always Dark, Twisted, and makes me want more. PLEASE LET THERE BE MORE TO THIS STORY....... Anyway grab this book and while your at it grab Seraphine's both are worth it. They are freaking fantastic.

Virginia Johnson & Julia Clare are an absolute powerhouse duo when it comes to writing. Bound By An Echo is a powerful and intriguing read, with plot twists that will keep you guessing until the very last word on the page. The horror romance is full of rich imagery with both the horror and romance scenes beautifully written. Absolutely loved the two main male characters in this book Rory and Dale. I have a soft spot for Dale, although definitely #teamRory all the way. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book this amazing duo publish, because I know that it will be well worth my time and money. This is a must-read-and-cant-put-down kind of book!

This book... I have no idea how Julia and Virginia do this, but they write as one author on absolute steroids. The whole book is in-sync you would never even know that 2 people wrote this book. I mean really 2 super sexy men to choose from, so many twist and turns. I was hooked from page one, and the neglect of my family was well worth it (lol). This book is an absolute MUST read! I mean for real!!! OneClick right now!!!

Why is it these two can make a love story into a horror story at the same time? But isn't that real life sometimes? Laurel flees town 20 years ago after tragic events at the town carnival now some idiot decides 20 year to reopen it and she goes home to see what is going on. Never good in movies never good in books either. She finds Roy still waiting for her but their in another man waiting in the wing, Dale who may not be who he says he is. Can theses two survive what is coming for them that missed them 20 years ago or will the laughter finally die once and for all?
