I’m a callous, brutal killer.

It’s how I was raised.

I live fast and hard. As a member of the Romano crime family, and an ex-military sniper, my kills are too high to count. When it comes to women, I give them one night of rough sex, and that’s it.

Then I see Mia, all sweet and innocent, her delicious curves shoved into a tight dress. She’s a bright contrast to my grimy existence. In her eyes, I see an escape from the darkness I've lived with for so long.

So what if Anton Nabatov, the leader of the ruthless Nabatov family, has claimed her for his own?
So what if one look at Mia threatens the tenuous truce between our two families?
So what if I press a gun to Mia’s head, and take her as my hostage?

She will be mine, even if it awakens the monster inside of me, the one monster I can't kill.

Hostage is a standalone, full length novel within the Romano Brothers Series. It features dark themes, steamy love scenes, a dominant alpha, and a heroine who's strong enough to love him. It's a safe read with a guaranteed HEA.

As an added bonus, the first few chapters of WITNESS, Romano Brothers Book 2, is included at the end of this edition.

Leo is a member of the Romano crime family and he's back after receiving an honourable discharge from the army where he worked as a sniper. Things have changed in his absence the Russians now control most of the area and the Romano's are a fraction of what they once were.

Mia is working a one off event for the Russian mob she hopes to keep her head down and get more money in one night than she normally earns in a month. The problem is she attracts the attention of Anton Nabatov the leader of the Russian mob.

I struggled early on with this and it was nearly a DNF and now I'm wondering when I'll actually learn to listen to myself, I should have quit then.

My first problem was that within minutes of meeting with no idea who each other is Leo has his hand down Mia's pants at a bus stop making her orgasm.

Then on their first date he rips her top

Leo grabs my collar and rips it apart. The buttons pop off.

Which is fair enough but then they go out for ice cream what about her top?

Also on the first date he enters her without a condom only pulling out when he discovers she's not on birth control. The point is these two are nearly strangers and neither knows where the other has been and from what we know about Leo is he's been around a lot.

Next date.....

"I didn’t meant to come inside of you.”
"It’s okay. I’m not ovulating.” ......
"You sure?” he says. “My swimmers could be flooding your womb right now, impregnating you.”

Another date....

His cock pulses as it empties itself inside of me.
"Shit, Mia,” Leo says, catching his breath. "Are you ovulating?”
"Who fucking cares?” I grab him by the shoulders and him pull him towards me. We kiss with hot passion while the mess of our lovemaking seeps between my thighs.

Also exactly how old was Nico eighteen or fifteen?

'Rage flashes across Vince’s face. I know he’s remembering how Nico looked when we found him, little pieces of him scattered everywhere. The worst part was, they weren’t even trying to get information from him. They tortured him for the hell of it. A young kid, barely eighteen years old. He was my cousin, but I loved him like a brother. When his parents were killed in an accident, Nico moved in with us, so he was my brother in a sense.'

"Nico,” he mutters. I lean down to better hear him.
"Nico? Who’s that?”
"My cousin-no. My brother.” His upper lips stiffens, and he clenches his fists. “He was only fifteen when the Nabatovs killed him.'

There's nothing new here but then I didn't expect it but what's here isn't particularly well done and that's my problem.
From what I could see Leo doesn't had patience or the intelligence to be a sniper and while I initially found him attractive I like intelligence in a man even my 'book' men and so Leo just didn't cut it.

For me this was a disappointing read but it has loads of great reviews so don't let me put you off it could very well be a case of it's me not the book.

This was a short quick dark erotic read that I liked. Leo has just been discharged from the service he was a sniper. Leo grew up in a crime family and when he returns things aren't what the use to be the family has been in war with another family and he doesn't like it. Mia is working as a waitress to make some fast quick cash. When Leo sees Mia he knows that she will be his. The problem is Anton Nabatov, the leader of the ruthless Nabatov family, has claimed her for his own Leo will do whatever he has to do to get her including kidnapping her. This was a good book Leo is crazy he was discharged because he didn't want to stop killing and he felt nothing until Mia. The sex scenes were hot. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading about the next Romano Brother Matteo.

So bad

This was so bad I couldn't get past 55%. I actually started wanting to put it down almost from the start, but every time I thought it, I told myself to give it a real chance. I almost quit many times. That was just how bad this thing is. None of characters came across as realistic in any way. The things they said and did were exaggerated and fake. These two fall in insta-love without knowing a single thing about each other. This girl was nothing more than a quivering mouse with no personality. The guy was supposed to be this calm and cool collected sniper who has no emotions. Pft! He blows everything at the start by doing one stupid thing after another. He acts like a 15 year old with his first girl crush and no knowledge of how the world works. He's constantly throwing tantrums. I didn't like either of the brothers either, so I don't care that I will be missing Tim. This story is nothing like it was sold as in the description. It was just a boring, frustrating, unrealistic mess. I know we have to disband belief to read fiction, but these are not characeters, they are caricatures. Don't bother reading. I would have given it one star if I had finished reading it, but I am giving her an extra star just so I don't have t finish this mess. It really wasn't earned.

Okay by my standers

I rated this book a 3 because it's not all it's made out to be. When I first read the description of the story I liked it than after reading the story not so much. It had some good parts but it was missing allot of action, that part would make the book alit better.

This is just my opinion so read it and think about how this book can improve.

Loved. This.

I love stories about hot alphas doing what it takes to protect their women. I especially love it when the woman can be just as badass as her man. Great story.

Not bad but hard to get into the story.

I gave this a lower rating because 1) there were Many Many mistakes in the reading. I found it very hard to get into the setting when words were wrong for instance 'warts' when it should have been 'worst' and missing punctuation. 2) The story was blunt and didn't ease into the storyline well. Like for instance there was the main scene and it ended within a sentence. Really? Wham, thats it, done? It happened so fast, it was not believable. 3) The characters were very far fetched and i couldn't get into them because the author didnt go into detail of how they felt. 4) You meet a guy the first night (a stranger) might i add, but think hes gorgeous and you feel nd yourself in love with him and want him to control you? Oh yeah and he kills people. WTH!
Im glad i didnt buy this book, but I had to read the whole thing before making any conclusions. Now I have and i dont think ill be reasing further books from this collection.

This was a great read, fast paced and full of action. The story grabs you at the beginning and keeps you page turning from there. Leo had been raised in a mafia family and had just been discharged from the service as a sniper. Leo has determined that Mia will be his and he has cared about nothing until he meets Mia. Lots of drama, suspense and a kidnapping. Quite a story and lots of twists and surprises. A happy ending.

Good read

Entertaining, with some meat to it, lol, I liked Mia and Leo, but the story portrayed the Family as second rate and not too well "Organized" for a major, respected power.
And Leo is supposed to be a badass sniper; he's portrayed as a washed out hot head.

This is a really good book about love, trust and loyalty. Mia had to be strong thru some tough situations. And all Leo wanted was to love, protect and OWN Mia!!!! I love this book & can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!

3.5 stars......This was a quick read and seemed like it was rushed to the finish line. Having said that, the storyline was good but it could have been great with more development. The characters were interesting.
