Led by Jess Tolvern aboard HMS Blackbeard, a battered allied fleet has kept Apex bottled up in the Persia System as Tolvern awaits desperately needed reinforcements. But when a brutal enemy push breaks a harvester ship free of Persia, and she discovers the extent of Apex war preparations, it becomes clear that only the combined might of Albion, Hroom, Scandian, and Singaporean forces have a chance of defeating the enemy once and for all.
The gathering allied fleet boasts more than two hundred warships, the largest armada ever assembled. Arrayed against them is the most powerful and deadly threat humans and Hroom have ever faced. If the enemy cannot be defeated here and now, nothing will prevent the triumph of Apex and the extermination of all civilized people.
Sun King is the third and final book of the Void Queen Trilogy.

Things have been building for this, the final confrontation with the Apex at Persia. The Apex have been amassing their forces, and unbeknownst to everyone, they have a massive fleet ready to deploy from Persia, not just Hunter Killer packs, but Harvesters, and if they get out, the Galaxy is doomed, certainly Albion and her allies, the Hroom, still suffering with their civil war, the Singaporean’s not yet recovered from the last clash with the Apex. However, they do have their new friends, the somewhat fascinating relationship with the Viking like Scandian’s, who with their Star Wolf ships and Mech armour, can turn any space or land battle from a loss to a victory with their fierce battle style, and sheer brutality in the face of overwhelming odds. Catarina Vargus has realised that although she had this dream of ruling as Queen, it wouldn’t’ have lasted. Even with the resources she had, and a bit of time, she would have gotten set up only to be ready to feed the Apex war machine. Drake has seen this in her, has seen that she just needed a little growth to push her along, mature her as a Captain, and as potentially a Royal Navy Leader. And Vargus can see it in herself as well, although she does still want to go on and settle the colony after the war with the Apex as promised, only not as a Queen, as a Duchess. In the meantime though, they still have to win. The book is multi-staged without giving too much away, with the first part of the book being the setup for the final engagement, but this still involves a lot of fighting and battles as the fleet tries desperately to set defences, prepare the station they will use, ready their fleets, and set traps. Again, we see the Hroom being used to Political and Tactical advantage due to their religious beliefs. It is again, a fascinating insight into the inner workings of the Hroom Empire. The word ‘Epic’ does not do the battles or the final sequence of this book justice. With so many pieces on the board all making such desperate moves to save not just their own lives, but the lives of everyone in the galaxy, those fighting the Apex are willing to give it their all, sometimes their very lives if it helps the cause. Wallace brings you a story that once you reach a point in this book, you are not going to be able to put it down until you find out what happens, not just to each of our favourites, and some of the new Characters who become favourites as well, but the fate of entire regions of space are in the balance at the end of this book, and it is such a great read. As with all his books, the descriptions of the actual combat are flawless, he has only gotten better as he continues to write these stories, and with each book, the characters continue to develop just that bit more. If you have read any of this series, make sure you read this one, it is Wallace at his best.
Wallace writes a mean Space Opera, and his "Blackbeard" universe just keeps expanding as more races are discovered, More lost colonies found, more Earth-like planets explored. This is a great conclusion to the Void Queen trilogy, but I expect many more stories to Come! Great book! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES!!!
These books will take over your life and leave you wanting more. The space battles will leave you on the edge of your seat and will have you caring for the characters. I loved the diverse characters and the alien races. I will certainly look up the authors other book. If you like your space opera with lots of battles you will love these novels😀
Too good to stop now! I like Mr. Wallace's story telling style in that each "story" is told in 3 book series, while maintaining the universe and characters throughout the current 10 books published to date.
Picked up the first book in this universe and was hooked. The first was free and so good I was willing to buy the rest. Read them all in order and each one made me want more. Still want more. Thank you Michael Wallace for a great triple trilogy. More please. Will be reading more by this author
I would rather that this author continued following Catarina. Catarina was more interesting then most of the people in the story. Maybe another spin-off. This story ended a little too easily. Sun King was good.
