Cruise'n Mysteries

I first read one of Hope Callaghan's a few weeks ago and have been hooked on them since. One book led to another and then the Cruise Ship series caught my attention. I read 7 in a row and had just started another when I received notice that #8 was out. I am an avid cruiser so I was living vicariously through the characters. Obviously Ms. Callaghan is also because of the true to life descriptions of ship venues. Having been on so many cruises I can visualize every place described. I can't wait for more adventures of Millie and her friends. I hope the series continues for many books to come.

I really enjoy reading this series, Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries. This is book 8 and you could read it without enjoying the previous stories. The story is non violent, other than the murder, and just a hint of Christian values. Millie is back on board the Siren of the Seas with her friends and boyfriend for the Christmas cruise. Millie's daughter and family are also going to spend the holiday out to sea. Unfortunately this also includes her ex-husband and his fiance. When the fiance, Delilah , is found dead, Millie's ex husband is sure she did it. Great read for younger cozy fans as well as older readers who enjoy a fine mystery.

I was really excited to see a Christmas themed installment for this series. Millie has come back to the ship after spending time with her family and she is looking forward to reconnecting with her friends aboard ship and resuming her duties as assistant cruise director. She is excited when her daughter and grandchildren plan on spending the week-long cruise with her but trouble shows up in the form of her ex-husband and his fiancee who have decided to be married aboard the Sea Siren. When the nasty fiancee shows up dead, Millie and those closest to her are the most suspected and she must find a way to clear suspicion.

I just adore Millie Sanders and her cabal of crime-fighting buddies. Millie is not your typical granny type and her sharp mind and generous personality make her a lot of fun to read about. Descriptions of life on board the ship make even me with my irrational fear of the sea consider that cruises might be fun, though it takes a special person to make a career of it. The people (note I didn’t say characters) that Millie surrounds herself with are just the kind of old, and young, friends that every woman would love to have and they are the heart of this series. I will eventually manage to read every book.

This was a quick read. Millie has been on a break from the cruise line, and her daughter and family have booked a cabin for her first cruise back, so she's really looking forward to returning. However, her ex-husband and his girlfriend have not only booked the same cruise, they have planned to get married on board. Millie tries to stay out of their way, but when the girlfriend ends up dead, almost the whole wedding party makes her the prime suspect. Luckily, the ship's crew believe in Millie, but they tell her to stay out of the way while they investigate.
This is a Christian cozy, very sweet and clean.

The third in an anthology I bought from Kindle. I really didn't like the first two, and number three did not improve my initial impression. I would not recommend this book. Quite two-dimensional characters. Also, I am not interested in characters who pray at the drop of a hat over simple daily happenings. It interrupted the flow of the plot, which wasn't very compelling in the first place. I would not recommend this book.

Suite Revenge is the eighth book in Hope Callaghan’s wonderful Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mysteries Series and is a well thought out and interesting mystery, with a touch of sweet romance. The characters are well developed, likeable, and relatable. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read with enough twists and turns to hold the reader’s interest. I highly recommend this clean, well-crafted cozy and look forward to reading more books in this series.

Millie Sanders enjoyed her mandatory break as Assistant Cruise Director on Siren of the Seas and visiting her family and friends in Michigan but she’s so happy to be back onboard and looking forward to catching up with all her new friends, especially Captain Armati and Scout. Everyone is happy to see her and tell her everything has been calm and quiet without their “mayhem magnet” onboard. She’s thrilled when her daughter, Beth, son-in-law and two grandchildren arrive to sail with her but that feeling doesn’t last long because her ex-husband, Roger Sanders, and his fiancée, Delilah Osborne, also board the ship. As if that isn’t bad enough, Millie soon learns that their wedding party will be boarding and that they’ve asked Captain Armati to officiate their wedding. When Roger finds his bride-to-be on the floor of their suite, a victim of a severe allergic reaction, he accuses Millie and threatens to sue Majestic Cruise Lines and Delilah’s sister, Dixie, threatens to sue everyone … the cruise line, the captain, even the medical staff. Even though she’s not supposed to look into the events surrounding Delilah’s demise, Millie refuses to sit back and do nothing.

Plausible murder description

In some of the earlier books in this series, the author got the details of the actual murder description wrong. In this book, the description of the murder was spot on, as the Brits say. Although many people have mild allergies to some foods, and many more people assume that all food allergies are mild, and therefore only a minor inconvenience, some people have food allergies that are deadly and that kill extremely fast. In addition some food allergies get worse with each exposure. Peanut allergies can be in this category. Do not ever give somebody food that they are allergic to. It is never funny to the victims, and if the victim dies and you are charged and convicted, that will not be funny to you.

The story is entertaining and well told. Most of the people are good people who would be good friends and neighbors, and the settings are fun to read about. I like the Made in Savannah series by this author even better, but this series has a lot of potential too.

Millie returns from an extended holiday at home in Michigan and is happy to be back on the ship with the captain and her friends. Better yet, her daughter Beth and family will be joining her for a Christmas cruise.

Much to Millie's dismay, not only does her daughter board, but also her ex husband, Roger, and his fiance, Delilah. To make matters worse, Delilah announces that they will be married on board by the captain!

Delilah enters the crew section by bribing someone and waits for Millie outside her cabin door. She tells Millie that she wants to buy her home and tear it down, because of it's wonderful view of Lake Michigan. They have very loud words when Millie emphatically turns down the offer, and when Delilah is found dead, Millie is suspected.

The family leave the ship when they reach the next port and Millie does not get to go on a planned snorkelling excursion with Beth and her kids. The captain offers to take her on a surprise outing instead. And it is indeed a surprise, as he proposes!

read as part of the Cozy Mysteries Collection: Home & Holiday Editioncollection.
Millie, assistant cruise director is thrilled to be back to work especially since her daughter and family will be joining her for the holidays. Little did she know that her ex husband also decided to come along with his bride to be and her family -- to be married aboard. Really who does this?!? I understand maybe wanting your kids there but so you schedule accordingly you don't get married on the ship that your ex wife works on.... That is down right spiteful.. When the fiance is found dead, Millie is first accused. Her daughter and ship"family" don't believe it but her ex makes her life difficult. Millie finally figures out who did it. More prayer references than I like

Suite Revenge (Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries Series Book 8)

Gosh, this was such a good story!! Albeit a mystery that has twists and turns at every corner, a wonderful love story comes into play, to boot!! I love the way the story line gives each character added compliments, or detriments if he or she is the villain and as always, the prayers to God is the main character's strength. If anyone would like to read a great mystery that is void of innuendos or bad language, these are the series for you. I look forward to the next book and I may read this one again for it caused me to smile, laugh, cry and yes, realize God's love for those who love Him. God bless everyone, especially Hope Callaghan. Another winner of a story is a blessing from one great author!! Thank you!

I'm being generous with two stars. First, it seems pretty unlikely that a cruise ship would have a 60+ year old person as an activities director. Second, the narrator for this audiobook (Naomi Rose-Mock) doesn't sound like a 60 year old woman so the narration just doesn't align with the story. Third, everything about this is predictable - the murder victim, the accused murderer, and the actual murderer. Also, it does fall into the genre of Christian-fiction so there are several instances of actual prayers being said. However, it is a short book (just short of 4 hours of listening time) so it is good background noise while driving especially since you don't have to think hard (or listen closely) to know what is happening.

Millie is back on the ship after her break and she is happy to be back. As is the Captain and Scout.
Her family comes on board as well for a week long cruise but a surprise comes along. Her ex husband and fiancé.

Roger and Delilah are on board to get married by none other the Captain. Millie is fit to be tied but when Delilah is found dead they look at Millie. Can she find the real murder before it is too late?

Loved this book like the others. Millie and the crew are funny and yet they do their job and solve crimes. The relationship with the captain is getting stronger by the minute. We get to see Millie side of the family and see what they are really like.

In Suite Revenge, Millie Sanders, assistant cruise director of Sirens of the Sea, is finally back on board after visiting Michigan and spending time on the Baroness of the Seas. Excited to see her daughter Beth, son-in-law David, and grandchildren, Noah and Bella, she is unhappy when she sees her ex-husband Roger and his fiance Deliah Osborne on the week's cruise too. Things take a turn for the worse when Deliah ends up dead from eating food tainted with peanuts. Millie must clear her name as soon as possible. The Cruise Ship Cozy Mysteries is consistently good and this eighth book is one of my favorites so far!

I like this series of Christian mysteries. I enjoy reading about people who say grace before a meal, go to church, and even read their Bible--and where the main character doesn't jump in bed with her boyfriend on the first date. In fact, in this book, they got engaged and didn't do anything more than kiss. And that's why I'm giving it a 4 rating.

These are not the best literature, but they keep me reading and trying to figure out who the murderer is. And I like reading about a middle-aged woman who can make her own way in the world after her crumby husband dumps her.

Another great Cruise Ship cozy mystery! Millie is back on Siren of the Seas cruise ship, after time with her family and a few months on another ship. In this one, her daughter & family join her for a cruise. Unfortunately, Millie's ex & his fiance and her family are also on the cruise. This causes quite a few problems and then Millie's ex ' s fiance is found dead. Millie & friends have to work fast to clear her name. This book has a very nice romantic angle as well. This is an awesome Christian cozy mystery!

Review of this book.

This was a great book. The end was a shocker. The murderer never came up on the radar until the very end. Just great books to read. The author keeps getting better with the clues being so subtle you will miss them if you are not at the top of your game. This author knows what she is doing. She slides in false clues just to keep the reader guessing. She is a fantastic author. She has her game plan in place and just keeps going. Her books are well worth reading.

This was definitely my favourite of all 8 books so far. How long till the next one comes out?????

Millie's ex and family are on board this cruise, it is also the first one for Millie after her break, which turned out to be longer than she wanted it to be.

Her relationships with her fellow crew members are as strong as ever and when she is accused of murdering her ex husbands fiancé everyone supports Millie and backs her up, believing that she would never do something that.

Millie Sanders is back on board the Siren of the Seas after a long mandatory break and visit with her family. Her daughter Beth and family, her ex husband and his girlfriend Delilah come on the cruise along with family and friends to be married by the captain. Delilah is found dead by Roger from eating peanuts, an allergy she has. Of course Millie is accused of murder. A long with solving the murder a good thing happens to Millie!

Millie was elated to be back on her favorite ship. Her daughter informed her that family would be on this cruise also. What she didn't mention is one ex- husband and girlfriend were booked also. This was her ship her home, and they weren't welcome. Oh, they are getting married on cruise and by the captain, Millie's boyfriend. A nightmare, and now murder and Millie is the prime suspect. This was a delightful funny, well written plot. They get better with each book Hope writes.

Roles reversed

Millie is on the other end of the investigation as she is accused of killing her ex husband's fiance. At the same time, her relationship with the ship's captain blossoms wide open. Great plot and storyline. I like how Ms. Callaghan mentions all characters in each book. It truly is a family on the high seas.

This is a clean christan cozy mystery. The eighth book of the series. There are many suspects but not much clues to go on. I loved the surprise on the island. Lots of sad and happy things happening. Recipes included. This book was fine to read as a stand alone but the series is a good one and I would read the whole thing so far.

Great read

This was another great twist and turn mystery/romance. 😀 Great interaction between the regular characters and the ones just in this book. So well-written that you just want to give the pain-in-the-neck people a good back of the head slap and knock some sense into them! On to the next book!

Another quickie read in the saga of Millie, the assistant cruise director. In this offering we get to meet some of Millie's family who take a cruise on her ship. Unfortunately her ex decides to come on the cruise as well, planning to get married on the cruise to her former best friend to throw it in her face. Not surprisingly a murder occurs with Millie as the chief suspect.

Not one of my favorites. Family is nice, the season wonderful but an ex not so much.

Death occurs, our main character is blamed but all works out well in the end. Romance is nicely progressing as our main character has highs to off set the lows of the investigation.
