The writing sucks, but the details of these crimes, especially the murders, are horrific. The book covers crimes all over the world, not just the US. Serial killing is not a new phenomena. The details of early organized crime in the US is fascinating - gangs, the Mafia, and Jewish crime syndicates proliferate. The murders also highlight how many female murderers chose poison as the weapon. Heinous tales of lynchings and other murders of blacks in the US explain what the blacks have been dealing with since the civil war. Almost all of these murders take place in the South. One black man was dragged off a train and lynched because he asked a white woman to wait while he finished making up her berth. In all of these white-on-black murders, there's never a mention of anyone who was charged or prosecuted for these crimes. These murders of blacks by whites highlight our disgusting past and continued persecution and murder of blacks, especially black men. It's shameful.
