'Sell the Pig' is the first in a series of travel memoirs describing how Lesley, writing as Tottie Limejuice, decided to make the move from the UK to France to start a new life, taking with her an 89-year-old mother suffering from vascular dementia. The story continues in three further books, 'Is That Billinge Lump?' 'Mother, Was It Worth It?' 'Biff the Useless Mention', and 'Angling Bumateurs'. There's an additional standalone prequel to the series, Trot On!, about her time running a holiday riding centre in Wales, before her move to France.
Lesley is also the not-so-secret writer behind the pen-name of Carl Granger. The book Looking for Lulu is darker crime fiction.

Another excellent book in the DI Ted Darling series. There are lots of different crimes which Ted and his team are tasked with investigating. The difficulty is working out which ones are connected to each other. The potential perpetrators are many and yet Ted and the team aren't quite sure who it could really be. Ted also is dealing with personal problems with Trev being away. The characters again are well written and I liked the family liaison officer Kate and hope she returns in another book.
To anyone who has read the first books in this series I would encourage them to read this one and for anyone who hasn't read any books in this series but enjoys well written crime and police procedurals with very well developed characters I would urge you to start at the beginning of the series and read through them all.
Having been recommended the DI Ted Darling series only twelve months ago, unbelievably I have devoured all of this series since. With the author writing three of the novels last year and another three this year.....my gosh where has this year gone! But has always LM Krier doesn't disappoint and is one talented lady if I do say so myself. There is something about the style of writing that I love. It very crisp and well written and draws you in from the start.
In this sixth installment of Ted finds myself working on latest case takes him to the darkest side of the human psyche, where identifying the killer is the least of his problems. With random unrelated coldblooded killings happening in the same area where the RSPCA officers are investing. The big question is are these crime connected with the murders? And with distractions in Ted's private life this is last thing he needs with it getting in the way of a complex enquiry.
Did I mention that I lost my reading moto recently? I am happy to say that it is finally back thanks to this corker of a story. Ted is one of those characters which you can not help fall in love with and each story-line taking the reader into another world. Having read all six I feel like I personally know Ted has a person and I love the fact that with each story the author deals with some sensitive subject matters. Making each one impressionable. And Wild Thing certainly does that with some very uncomfortable scenes that made me squirm. But not only that I love the humor that is added in to. And each one being a page turner.
I can't help but wonder where does the author get all theses original story-lines from. With Crime being such a popular genre I can honestly say that these stories are nothing like anything I have read before. I cannot wait to read what is in store for Ted in his next case.
Although this can be read has a standalone, the whole series it is to good not to miss. If your looking for something original why not try Ted, you wont be disappointed.
I highly recommend this giving it 4.5 stars. And would like to thank LM Krier for a copy in exchange for a honest review.
This is book 7 in the DI Ted Darling series and you want to get the full story you should read this series from book 1. Ted Darling is a policeman in England with a difference. He is a good police officer without any major flaws or angst. He is respectful and gets on well with his co-workers and superiors. He is also gay and in a stable relationship with the utterly delightful Trev although there could be a little trouble brewing on the horizon. There are murders happening and Ted and his team are stretched to the limit as they investigate. There are also several cases of animal cruelty which may or not be related. I can't say too much as I don't want to give anything important away but what I can say is that the book is well written and kept me reading. Highly recommended and again - read the series from book 1. You wont be disappointed.
I am a fan of L. M. Krier's writing. This Ted Darling series just keeps on getting better in each book. This was number 6 in the series. While you don't necessarily have to read them in order of publication, I would recommend doing so, because you will enjoy coming back to familiar characters in each book. The crime(s) and detective work that goes into solving them are so well written, the books come to life for me. This one had some dark psychological twists that I enjoyed. Keep 'em coming, I love them!
Yet another great book in the Ted series. Read this in a day. Love the story of Ted's private life running along with the case. Also love hearing about the lives of the team, outside of work. I feel I know them all personally. A thoroughly great read.
Great mystery loved the characters and the storyline. I had surgery , this was the best way to PST the time. I was intrigued the whole time. I could find my place whenever I dosed off. Thank You for a wonderful book.
So far this series is faultless. It goes from strength to strength. The story lines are always well researched and thought out. Ted and Trev are a fantastic couple and the whole team has evolved into a well knit family unit that works really well together each person bringing their own set of unique qualities to the squad. LM Krier tackles very difficult subjects with aplomb and also a sensitivity that makes you think- yes this is a storyline that's sensational but it's not exploitive or over sensationalised. Ted and his team are looking at a particularly nasty killer who may have killed before, par for the course but this time there is something very disturbing happening and it's going to take all of Ted's courage to bring them to justice
Another great DI Darling procedural that I read on holiday a month ago. Ted and his crew are asked to look into cold cases. Meanwhile the apparently deliberate drowning of a small boy, the pushing of an old lady under a bus and a series of animal torture cases occupy Stockport’s best CID team. On a personal front, Ted is dealing with trust issues in his relationship with the gorgeous Trev, so altogether, the mix was more than enough to keep this reader glued to her kindle till she reached the end. Excellent reading once again. I now need to buy number 7 and to hope that Ms Krier will be writing another book in the series.
I just thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. As with all of her previous DI Ted Darling books, book 6 is a well written, thought out crime mystery. There were parts of the book that I did have to skip over dealing with animal abuse, but for anyone who likes a really good crime mystery then this a must read.
Yet another great novel and even though this is now book 6 in the series, the charachters and plots are still fresh and exciting
A real pleasure to read. I can't believe I am now moving on to book 7 and the thought of it being the last in the series fills me with dread. I can only hope that it is not the final book, just the latest in the series. I truly have enjoyed each book immensely and love Ted & Trev and the cast of supporting charachters. I hope there are many more to come.
L M KRIER Wild Thing Book 6 in this series. Ted has been promoted to DCI and with it comes a bigger area and more staff, all not good unfortunately. He gets rid of the bad and works with the decent ones. This case has everybody flummoxed, for a while. As well as his work his personal life and he and partner Trevor have issues to sort out. Another great book to this great series. 5* 31 July 2017.
A really good read the plot has it's twists and turns the story is made personal by the little insights into Teds life with Trev it make for a fabulous read thank you very many hours of enjoyment
First, I would definitely give this one a skip if you love animals. The blurb mentioning investingations by the RSPCA should not be taken with a grain of salt. I made the mistake of thinking the author, who clearly does like animals, and especially cats, would spare us the details, but there were several pages I simply had to skip and a few I wish I hadn't read.
Second, I've been skipping around in the series - I gave up on the first book long ago, but I was brought 'round by more recent installments. On the positive side, I could see how much the writing has improved by comparing this earlier book to, say, Cry for the Bad Man.
Since I'd read the later books, I knew where this one was going when a particular character was introduced midway through. That character makes up for the author going a bit over the top with Ted Darling's superpower supervisory skills. (If he must be the most equitable and admired guv in the entire force, no need to tell us that - it's already in the 'show'. We'll sort it out.)
Ted Darling is a gentleman DCI-polite, confident and treats the men and women under him equally. This police procedural got really gruesome as the book progressed and it takes a lot of effort for Darling's team to find all the evidence.
Trev as ever is a supportive partner and it is very heartening to see the role he plays in Ted's life. The touch jealousy on Ted's pat is really cute.
I thought the book started out slow...but I couldn't put the book down as it progressed.
**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** Well what can i say I had to voice concerns over ted and trevor, and was reassured all was good with them thankfully, looking forward to next chapter with Ted and team . Hope Charlie becomes part of his team !!!
Not a bad mystery but there is too much 'political correctness' to be believable. I like the relationship between Ted and Trev so that is a plus. However, I think Ted Darling, as a character, is just too good to be true. I think the author is trying too hard to make him different from the many detectives who carry around massive baggage from their pasts. There has to be a happy medium.
OMG!! I have just finished this most gripping read; and, WOW, I am still reeling! Is it only me, or do these books just keep getting better and better? One of the many things I like about the DI Darling series is that they are in no way repetitious. Each book focuses on a different type of crime, with usually more than one case on the go to keep Ted and his team on their toes. I cannot recommend this series highly enough; however, a warning - they are totally addictive.
