Qui va à la chasse

Rate this book

This series has been a fast addicting and overall a fun series so far. My problems with it is the character development. Every book there seems to be growth from the protagonist but with the start of a new book everything is erased and all the progress she's made previously is gone. Another thing that has really started to bother me is that in every single book she either get's taken off a case or fired. I know it is a mystery book but hot damn; once, twice, hell even 3 times fine. But once every book??? So far it's been 5!!! I am scared to finish the series. So far it has made the FBI look very incompetent.

4...Seriously, the most dramatic BAU series, two escaped killers in one novel...I mean don't get me wrong, I can NOT get enough of it, but is there any protocol at all in these novels, aside from Riley getting thrown off every case she works?? Bet you would never guess that I love Hatch!! Who doesn't?

Riley is starting to irritate me here. She has about as much impulse control as her teenage daughter.

( AUDIOLIBRO )

These books are unimaginative and predictable. They follow the same formula book after book.

I don't mind the series, but its getting too repetitive. I'm honestly waiting for a female serial killer, change it up!

While i did like some of the former parts of this series, I thought this one was just a rumination of the other parts. There is little or no logical build up, I think characters act sometimes very inconsistent and the plot is too thin. Too bad.

This book was perhaps, till date, the best in the series for me - as it deals with something realistic.
A convict released from prison who is out to take revenge on the cop who was responsible for the death of a closed-one and his imprisonment.

I would have given it 5 stars, had it not been for the repetitive mention of Riley's past, PTSD, struggles with her teenage daughter; how she never wants to take a case in the beginning, but eventually takes it; and has issues following orders from her superiors and gets close to or is actually fired but eventually reinstated once she closes the case.
This particular aspect of the series has been the same from book 1 and I presume it's going to be the same for the rest of the series; and it does get to you.

Blake Pierce - I hope you're listening.

I’ve tried to hang in with these books believing there would eventually be character development. The author has a limitless setup for murders and suspense having the main character employed by the FBI. Yet, the daughter is the victim AGAIN! 🙄🙄🙄Is the author just lazy?? Paige’s stupidity and recklessness know no bounds in dealing with criminals and fellow agents alike. At no point does this woman behave like a trained FBI agent. She acts on emotion and relies on chance. She is not rogue as she likes to repeatedly state, but insubordinate and foolish. I should’ve stopped at one.

I love these Riley Paige Mystery books for a quick, scary read. This is definitely the best one since the first book in the series as it breaks away from the typical mold from the other books. What will happen next???

This had me hooked and on edge the entire time. The endings two big twists…that will make the next book interesting!

However, I will say, Pierce has a habit of repeating information almost to the T. As a reminder between series about events, information, characters etc. Which usually I appreciate, but it is written in a robotic, repetitive way. It weakens the series and writing, in my opinion. Like she gets in trouble and almost fired in every book…her PTSD episodes, her making the same dumb mistakes. Most of these could be read as a standalone because of that habit or don’t need to be read back to back.

You definitely know the authors writing style pretty quickly. So I know what to expect with each book now it seems, but I still enjoy reading them since it’s a new case and killer each time. The storylines are always good and enticing.

I LOVED this book. Riley Paige is one of the greatest and again the case is intriguing. It starts with Riley having issues with April, she saves her but as someone from her past gets let out of prison early and is coming for her the tables turn. Then another killer escapes. Are they working together to mess with Riley's head? Read and find out. and damn i want her with Bill they're perfect!!!!

Maybe because I jumped straight into book #5 in the series, it didn’t work for me. The female lead annoyed me within the first few pages, and there were too many references to previous events.
I might try again with book #1 at some point.

I really loved this one. It was a little different then the other books in this series. The whole story was amazing and not at all what I had expected. Who would have thought I would be routing for a serial killer.

Shane Hatcher is someone who is locked up in Sing Sing for the rest of his life but from time to time Riley Paige an FBI agent uses him to get information about a serial killer she is chasing down. While Hatcher has been in prison he has taken to learning about serial killers and how to profile killers. He is studying criminology and has become very smart when tracking down killers. So much so that Riley finds she needs his assistance often when she is stumped on a case. He seems to be able to get into the minds of killers just like she is able to often. There are times she is stumped which has her making a trip to Sing Sing. Hatcher is a serial killer but he is one that kills for a reason and not for the sheer enjoyment of it like some. He has a code of ethics he follows and so long as you do things on the up and up and you are doing your job honestly he can respect that and will never kill a person like that.

Hatcher escapes in this book and his sole reason is he is worried about Riley. She is in some real trouble and she does know it and he likes her and respects the job she does. He escaped to help her out on a case. One where the killer plans on killing Riley and Hatcher can't have that.

I love how different this book was different and I enjoyed it so much more then I thought. I hope it takes a long time for Hatcher to get caught. Riley could have arrested him but chose not too. The next book is going to be so good. I hope Hatcher is in this next book too and avoids capture. Walder the weasel in charge has these rookie agents who know it all looking for Hatcher. They will never find him and Riley is fine with that.

Great book and I recommend it to everyone!!!

A prison break from a maximum security prison. Frantic calls from the FBI. Special Agent Riley Paige’s worst nightmare has come true: a serial killer she put away years ago is loose.

And his main target is her.

Riley is used to being the one hunting, but for the first time, she finds herself—and her family—to be the ones being hunted. As the killer stalks her, he also begins a new rampage of kills, and Riley must stop him before it is too late—for the other victims, and for herself.

But this is no ordinary killer. He is too smart, and their game of cat-and-mouse too twisted, and he somehow manages to elude her and always stay one step ahead. Desperate to stop him, Riley realizes there is only one way: she must delve back into the past, into this killer’s twisted mind, his old cases, and re-learn what drives him. The only way to stop him, she realizes, is to face the darkness she thought she had left behind.

A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, ONCE HUNTED is book #5 in a riveting new series—with a beloved new character—that will leave you turning pages late into the night

If you haven't been reading the Riley Paige series, and you like thriller/psychological/suspense, you MUST read this series by Blake Pierce. You can download the first book in the series, 'Once Gone' for free on your Kindle. Just try the first book, and then you'll be hooked.
Riley is an FBI Agent who can seemingly put herself into the killer's mind to figure out what his next moves might be. This isn't like a paranormal thing, this is pure psychological know-how. The best thing about this wonderful series is that there are 15+ books in the series, so we can enjoy them for quite a while - and hopefully they will continue on and on.
I have not read a boring Riley Paige book yet - in fact I believe I have marked all of them as 5 stars they are so good and so gripping. If you haven't started reading them, be sure to Read Book #1 for free, "Once Gone".
Awesome series.

Riley would irl been booted off the FBI. She is not fit for duty. She makes careless mistakes because she think she's all that.

Bill is like a puppy going after its mom. "if you are leaving so am I".

Walder irl wouldn't be an idiot that hadn't read the case files.

There are no team work. If you watch any FBI show they work as teams. Criminal Minds specifically (BAU unit) worked together. The Mentalist worked as a team. Now in 2023 the shows FBI, FBI Most Wanted and FBI International use team work.

SH clearly meant she is becoming a seriel killer. "Are you already? Or are you becoming?" How many killers did she use excessive force on and killing them?

SH (like Hannibal helped while in jail and escaped) could easily have just caught Orin in the beginning but he enjoyed the game too much.

Like I mentioned on another review I keep on reading out of curiosity.

I’m only continuing to read the series because I bought the ebooks ages ago and have a compulsive need to read a series through, regardless of how good or bad it is. These books a very frustrating with the lack of character growth. Each book Riley Paige is frustrating as hell, just repeating the same bs. Putting cases before her clearly tormented daughter who is in very real and obvious danger from perpetrators, drugs, and PTSD, but then miraculously bounces back and everything is just all hunkadorrey. Repeatedly, and oh so predictably, getting kicked off cases, suspended, and her job is hanging in the balances, just to turn around and solve the case off the books and all of her insubordination and recklessness is forgiven and she’s reinstated time and time again.

In this installment, Riley Paige is hit with a blast from her successful past. A serial killer she put in prison years ago has escaped, and he is out for revenge. This killer is smart, and he manages to track her and her family down very quickly. However, Riley has a "guardian angel" who is one step ahead of Riley and even smarter than her stalker is. Incredible story, full of twists and unexpected turns. As always there are side stories, and a young lady from Riley's past is about to become even more a part of Riley's life. I do wonder about Ryan, Riley's ex-husband and what his goal is in this book. I'll find out in Book 6 of the series!

I absolutely love this series. I think that they are the perfect, easy to read mystery. Each book reads like a Law and Order SVU episode and I love how each case is different, but the characters and some details and backstories cross over with each one. These books are short and can be read in a day, but they start off with a bang and keep you captivated the whole way through. In this one, I loved how Riley had to deal with two previous, unrelated, criminals. The riddles and surprise partnerships kept me hooked. I can't wait to read the next one!

Absolutely love this series

I love this series! Do you like psychological thrillers? How about DID it other crime shows Then these books are a must. The main character Riley has a fantastic mind to catch the criminals. Blaine Pierce did a wonderful job creating Riley and the books never have a full moment. Each character is well developed and crime are detailed and creepy. I feel like a part of the story it is so descriptive and realistic. Can't wait to find out how it all ends in book 13. A MUST READ!

3.5 stars rounded up. really enjoy the series and this book was filled with suspense. However, I am beginning to wonder if Riley is ever going to work a case in which she doesn’t get crosswise with her superiors and get thrown off the case or suspended. Also, how many times can her daughter and other important people in her life get traumatized by serial killers and continue to function normally. Lastly, the audiobook is read by a woman with a strong British accent which kind of seems weird to me. That said, I’ll continue listening!

Riley Paige has a very complicated life but she just keeps adding to her stress. She’s still butting heads with her superior and he keep suspending her. One serial killer is stalking her and escapes to torment her and her daughter. Another serial killer has taken her under his wing and is trying to help her. Poor Riley is still having flashbacks to the PTSD induced captivity she and her daughter experienced. Now she trying to balance cases, complicated family dynamics and her concern for a young runaway.
