Peter Paget grew up in the West Country in a well-to-do family in post-war Britain. Aged just 17, he impressed government Cabinet officials by inventing an oil-spill defence system, which is still used today. Shortly afterwards, this connection led to him being co-opted into the British Intelligence services, for whom he has carried out undercover missions ever since. A US security service also recruited Peter for a number of assignments, which led at one stage to him having an office next to that of astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, the sixth man to walk on the moon. Peter was also on scene shortly after the crash that killed Princess Diana and he describes what really happened that tragic night in the Pont de L’Alma underpass. All the while, Peter led a double life as a husband, father and author of UFO books, based on some of his assignments. He has also worked at different times as a lecturer, alternative therapist and international adventurer. In this autobiography, Peter details some of his missions for Her Majesty’s government while tracking down the source of many mysterious UFO sightings while working undercover. It is an enthralling look at the difficult and often dangerous life of a secret spook, risking his own life multiple times to protect the British people. Secret Life of a Spook is available on Kindle and in Paperback.
Difficult to know what to say about this one and I will pass on giving it a star rating.
I have met the author but some 35-40 years ago when he was with his 2nd wife in Norfolk. I knew him then as someone I would describe as charming but eccentric, in his own words, in this book, as "a husband, father and author of UFO books* ... and an alternative therapist" (* notably The Welsh Triangle).
He was perhaps better known, even earlier in the mid 70s, for running the Fountain Centre / Star House in Warminster, sight of the 1960s Warminster Mystery UFO sighting. He and his first wife renamed the centre Star House, and made it a centre for those interested in UFOs, publishing the Fountain Journal, scans of which can still be found online:
However, in this book he claims that in before he was 20 he was "co-opted into the British Intelligence community shortly after he impressed government Cabinet officials by inventing an oil-spill defence system , and has worked undercover on various tasks and assignments for the past fifty years, while also leading a double life and author, lecturer, therapist and international adventurer" - the Star Centre for example being a cover for his intelligence work.
The book details - as the title suggests - this double life with anecdotes from him and his colleagues in British intelligence and special ops, as well as giving his personal thoughts and insights into infamous events such as the Roswell, the moon landings, Princess Diana's death, 9-11, even the sinking of the Titanic, lesser known stories such as how extraterrestrial powers have sought to disarm nuclear weapons, as well as his own work in alternative medicine (e.g. he says he developed a cure for breast cancer).
At the book's end he suggests that in reality he has not a double but a triple life: "whereas you [the reader] are 98.4% primate and 1.6% alien, I am 51.6% alien and 48.4% primate" and his next book The Man Who Never Was will apparently go on to explain this element of his existence, which is also a focus on his website: https://peterpaget.com/
I have to confess to being something of a cynic of these matters, but reading with an open mind it was certainly a fascinating and unusual read, if a little disorganised.
Want to know who killed JFK and how? Want to know who was behind 9/11? Want to know who was behind Nicola Tesla and his downloaded fully fleshed out plans for three phase A/C phase power? Want to know who was behind all the major wars and world conflicts? Peter Paget shares all that and much more. His explanations are logical and more plausible as any others you may have heard elsewhere, including in history books. Check it out . . .
Interesting book with some injection of dry humour. Bought it after watching one of his YouTube videos with Kerry Cassidy. Found segments about the death of princess Diana and Osama bin Laden particularly interesting and it confirmed what I had already written about years ago.
