John William Jakes, the author of more than a dozen novels, is regarded as one of today’s most distinguished writers of historical fiction. His work includes the highly acclaimed Kent Family Chronicles series and the North and South Trilogy. Again the adaptations are great stories, but I felt that that the last story didn't fit the series. I was also hoping that later story additions would be new stories as opposed to retelling or adaptations of the movies and TV series.
