Exactly the same as the movie except for the fact that it skipped all the last scenes. Cut it off way too short. Confused everyone in the family.

Probably best as a read-aloud so that you can do the voices, plus the writing includes lots of sound effect words.
I think the story is more effective on screen than on the page, actually - the visual gags are lost in the narrative. And this book oddly ends well before the film's final scenes. I guess those are the "bonus chapters?" I don't understand why the book is formatted in that way - we don't even get a reunion with the Minions?

Still and all, mostly enjoyed reading this to my daughter.

I watched the movie this summer and it was very funny, then I bought this novel to see more. Originally I am not a big fan of this movie but after I read this book, I began to like this movie. The plot of this movie, the scenes are very nice and well presented. The moral of the movie and story is also pretty obvious and nice. I really like this book and the movie which made me laugh a lot.

Cute, read for my school age book club. We did a Book to Movie theme.
I loved the first Despicable Me movie so I read this book in hopes to watch this movie.
Enjoyed the book, but my guess would be that it would be easier to read if you watch the movie first.
I could be wrong though.

Perfectly good throwaway end-of-school-hols reading for us; possibly better than the film. Just.

it is pleasant but hardly groundbreaking, what special factor pushed this film to make over a billion dollars?
