Twist didn't believe in dragons until he was almost eaten by one. Slaying the fire-breathing beast seemed like a good idea at the time, but now the dragon's brothers want revenge and they've charged Twist with murder.
When Twist is arrested, he and his friends are taken into a world of magical creatures, normally never seen by human beings. They cross the world by submersible with a dragon captor and a djinn, ride on a flying island, visit a hidden magical city at the South Pole, and plunge into an active volcano, all while Twist struggles to prove his innocence and survive his sentence. The irreverent kitsune, Vane, also accompanies Twist, stumbling across his own mysterious people along the way. Meanwhile, the Rooks and Cyphers battle for the last remnants of dragon technology on Earth.
After generations of avoiding humanity, the dragons built a ship to take themselves away from Earth and into the stars. But navigating isn’t easy. Jonas's Sight allows him to see over vast distances, and sometimes even through time itself, glimpsing the future. The dragons thought they could use him to guide their ship through the cosmos, but Twist and his friends put a stop to that plan, slaying a few unlucky dragons along the way. Now the dragons want justice for their fallen brothers.
He saved his clockwork princess from evil secret societies, he rescued his sky pirate from outer space, but now Twist has to get himself out of peril. Delve into magic and intrigue once again with Clockwork Twist!

The Clockwork Twist series is wonderful! Amazing characters and plots keep you wanting to read and read and read! I have read the first five and looking for next now!
Twist had never believed in dragons until he was betrayed by a dragon which Vane introduced him to. In self defence he killed him and his name was Kazan and when he exploded Twist got covered in his blood which apparently was having it's effect on him now. Whilst Jonas during his escape from his abduction in outer space also ended up killing the dragon he called Bob and now both of them were taken by another dragon in a submersible to be tried by dragon elders. They travel with Myra, Vane and Kali on a massive adventure where they meet the most fantastical and scary creatures including the massive dragons who were out for their blood. Until they realise that the powers of the sight Twist and Jonas possess could be turned to good use, so the greedy dragons do not kill them. They are transported to the highest volcanic mountain in Hawaii to fix an astrolabe which the dragons need in order to exit earth forever. Twist of course has no problem with doing this especially when binding his sight to that of Jonas who could see the heavens in great detail and better than anyone else including dragons. Wow! just wow, this series keeps me completely enthralled with one massive adventure after another, travelling with our very charismatic cast of heroes and getting introduced to more awesome new ones. So just when I think the stories cannot get any better the next one steals the show! I cannot wait to go on reading this most addictive series ever.
This is an in between book. What I mean by this is in terms of action compared to the previous books (especially the 4th), there isn't a great deal. It has a lot of character growth tho and annoyingly tantalising information that doesn't tell you much at all but leaves you really wanting to know, whets your appetite for what's possibly to come
Twist is in trouble again. He kills a dragon in self-defense. The magical dragons aren't happy about that. Twist ends up using his clock repair skills to good effect. I love this story.
Wonderfully exciting tale and the extension of understanding the different characters motivations, inspirations and "Sights" is enthralling. Can't wait to read the next story.
I really enjoy these fantasy steampunk novels. I never thought such a group of characters would draw me in. Emily Thomsons characters are interesting , stories fun and fanciful.
